An automatic transmission, also called auto, self-shifting transmission, n-speed automatic (where n is its number of forward gear ratios), or AT, is a type of motor vehicle transmission that can automatically change gear ratios as the vehicle moves, freeing the driver from having to shift gears manually. Like other transmission systems on vehicles, it allows an internal combustion engine, best suited to run at a relatively high rotational speed, to provide a range of speed and torque outputs necessary for vehicular travel. The number of forward gear ratios is often expressed for manual transmissions as well (e.g., 6-speed manual).

Production of synthetic lubricant and lubricant base stock without dewaxing

A lubricating base stock useful for forming lubricants such as a multigrade automotive oils, automatic transmission oils, greases and the like is prepared by hydroisomerizing a waxy hydrocarbon feed fraction having an initial boiling point in the 650-750 DEG F. range and an end point of at least 1050 DEG F., synthesized by a slurry Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis process. The hydroisomerization forms a hydroisomerate containing the desired base stock which is recovered, without dewaxing the hydroisomerate. The hydroisomerization is conducted at conditions effective to convert at least 67 wt. % of the 650-750 DEG F.+ waxy feed hydrocarbons to lower boiling hydrocarbons. When combined with a standard lubricant additive package, these base stocks have been formed into multigrade automotive crankcase oils, transmission oils and hydraulic oils meeting the specifications for these oils.

The powertrain of a six-speed powertrain and a hydraulic control system includes a main shift section of first and second single pinion planetary gearsets, in which a first planet carrier is fixedly connected to a second ring gear. The powertrain also includes a first ring gear fixedly connected to a second planet carrier, and a first sun gear. The second planet carrier, and a second sun gear are variably connected to an input shaft through first, second, and third clutches, respectively. A connecting member connecting the first ring gear and the second planet carrier is variably connected to a housing through a first brake and a first one-way clutch. The second sun gear being variably connected to the housing by a second brake. The powertrain also includes a secondary shift section realized through a third single pinion planetary gearset, in which a third sun gear is connected to a third planet carrier via a fourth clutch, and is also connected to the housing through a third brake and a second one-way clutch.

The invention relates to an air-powered engine assembly, which comprises an air tank, an air valve, an air distributor, an intake pipe, camshafts, an intake duct, an exhaust control device, air cylinders, pistons, crankshafts, couplers, clutches, automatic gearboxes and differentials connected with the outside. The assembly is characterized in that the air valve, a constant pressure chamber and a pressure controller are arranged between the air tank and the air distributor; the air distributor is connected with a plurality of air cylinders on an air cylinder gasket; each air cylinder is connected with an exhaust chamber through an exhaust manifold; the exhaust chamber is provided with a turbine generator which is connected with a storage batter; the air cylinders are provided with the camshafts for controlling the air intake and exhaust of the air cylinders; the air cylinders are provided inside with the pistons for driving the crankshafts to rotate; the camshafts and the crankshafts are connected by chains; and the crankshafts are connected with the differentials through the couplers, the clutches and the gearboxes in turn. Therefore, doing work through air compression rather than fuel, the air-powered engine assembly has the advantages of avoiding waste gas discharge and air pollution, along with reliable operation, convenient operation, economical efficiency, practicality and so on. In addition, due to recycle of the waste gas for power generation, the air-powered engine assembly saves energy and reduces costs.
