Abstract
The invention relates to a method and a kit for extracting DNA from biological samples after optionally homogenizing and lysing the samples, the method having the steps of: a) binding the DNA to a solid phase by means of a binding buffer, b) washing, multiple times, the DNA bound to the particles using a washing buffer, c) drying the particles, and d) the eluting the DNA, wherein neither the binding buffer nor the washing buffer comprises combustible aliphatic alcoholic components or any chaotropic salts, the invention being characterized in that both the binding buffer and the washing buffer have a combination of water-soluble polymers, preferably PEG, and water-soluble salts as active components.
