Description

A highly stable oil-dispersed cosmetic composition comprising hydrogenated castor oil / sebasic acid copolymer

[0001] The present invention relates to an oil-dispersed cosmetic composition having excellent suspension stability. Specifically, it relates to an oil-dispersed cosmetic composition having excellent powder dispersibility, suspension stability, and formulation stability by optimally combining hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer as an oil thickener and silica dimethyl silylate as a dispersant.

[0002] As the demand for cosmetics designed to provide beneficial effects to the skin increases, various active ingredients are being incorporated into these products. However, active ingredients exist in both liquid and solid forms; when solid active ingredients have low solubility in solvents, they are stabilized by preparing a suspension formulation in which they are dispersed within the product.

[0003] However, due to the characteristics of the solid active ingredient, particle aggregation occurs as surface energy is reduced or local charge differences arise. Consequently, a density difference with the solvent occurs, causing particles to settle at the bottom and preventing the maintenance of a homogeneous suspension. Furthermore, if the compatibility between the solid active ingredient and the solvent is poor, the active ingredient may not even be dispersed within the formulation. Therefore, there are technical difficulties in homogeneously dispersing the active ingredient within the formulation and maintaining it for an extended period.

[0004] However, since there are various useful solid active ingredients such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which have excellent UV blocking efficacy, and calamine, which can provide skin soothing or anti-inflammatory effects, it is necessary to develop a new system that can stabilize various solid active ingredients within a formulation.

[0005] Accordingly, the inventors continued research on dispersing and stabilizing various solid particles within a formulation and confirmed that by optimally combining a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant, it is possible to produce an oil-dispersed cosmetic composition that exhibits excellent dispersibility for various types of particles and excellent formulation stability, thereby maintaining a stable suspension for a long period, thus completing the present invention.

[0006] The present invention aims to provide an oil-dispersed cosmetic composition with excellent suspension stability comprising a hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer.

[0007] The technical problems of the present invention are not limited to those mentioned above, and other unmentioned technical problems will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art from the description below.

[0008] According to an embodiment of the present invention, a cosmetic composition is provided that includes an oil thickener, a dispersant, and a powder, wherein the oil thickener comprises a hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer and the dispersant comprises silica dimethyl silylate, thereby improving the stability of the powder.

[0009] The cosmetic composition of the present invention can suspend and stabilize various types of powders having a wide range of weights and sizes, such as powders, clay minerals, raw materials, and scrubs, by optimally combining a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant.

[0010] Accordingly, the above cosmetic composition can stabilize various active ingredients within the formulation, and thus can be provided as a cosmetic composition that exhibits various functions such as UV protection, cleansing, makeup, and scrubbing.

[0011] In addition, the above cosmetic composition has excellent formulation stability, making it easy to store for a long period of time.

[0056]

[0057] In the following, examples and experimental examples are presented to further explain the present invention in more detail, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0058]

[0059] Experimental Example 1. Comparative experiment according to the type of oil thickener or dispersant

[0060]

[0061] (1) Preparation of Examples and Comparative Examples

[0062] In order to compare the effects according to the type of oil thickener or dispersant in the implementation of the present invention, cosmetic compositions of the oil-dispersed formulations of the Examples and Comparative Examples were prepared using the ingredients and contents listed in Table 1 below. Specifically, in Example 1, hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer was used as the oil thickener, silica dimethyl silylate was used as the dispersant, and calamine was used as the powder. Comparative Example 1 did not contain an oil thickener, Comparative Example 2 did not contain a dispersant, and Comparative Example 3 used magnesium myristate as the dispersant, and the remaining ingredients and contents of Comparative Examples 1 to 3 are the same as those of Example 1. The units in Table 1 are weight%.

[0063]

[0064] The specific manufacturing method is as follows.

[0065] After first mixing each component listed in Table 1 above, the examples and comparative examples were completed by uniformly mixing for 10 minutes using a stirrer at a temperature of 75°C.

[0066]

[0067] (2) Evaluation of dispersibility and formulation stability

[0068] The dispersibility and formulation stability of the examples and comparative examples prepared as described above were evaluated.

[0069] For the dispersibility evaluation, the powder was visually observed immediately after preparation of the manufactured examples and comparative examples to see if it was homogeneously dispersed within the formulation.

[0070] For the formulation stability evaluation, the prepared examples and comparative examples were stored for one month under high temperature (50°C), room temperature (25°C), low temperature (5°C), and high to low temperature cycle conditions to evaluate whether the oil-dispersed formulation remained stable as it was immediately after preparation. Table 2 below shows the results of the dispersibility and formulation stability evaluation according to the above method, and Figure 1a shows a photograph of the bottom of the formulations taken immediately after preparing the examples and comparative examples. Figure 1b shows a photograph taken after storing the examples or comparative examples under the cycle conditions.

[0071]

[0072]

[0073] According to Table 2 and Figures 1a and 1b above, Example 1, which includes hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer as an oil thickener and silica dimethyllylylate as a dispersant, was confirmed to produce a homogeneous oil-dispersed suspension in which the powder is stably dispersed within the formulation without settling at the bottom of the formulation, and the formulation stability was also excellent, with the formulation being maintained for a long period of time.

[0074] On the other hand, in the case of Comparative Examples 1 and 2, which did not contain either an oil thickener or a dispersant, and Comparative Example 3, which contained magnesium myristate instead of silica dimethyl silylate as a dispersant, it was confirmed that the dispersibility was poor and the powder settled at the bottom of the formulation immediately after preparation, and it was confirmed that the formulation stability was poor as the settled powder formed a band at the bottom of the formulation during long-term storage.

[0075] Therefore, it was confirmed that including a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant is an essential component in realizing a cosmetic composition of the present invention in which the dispersibility of the powder is improved and the formulation is stable.

[0076]

[0077] Experimental Example 2. Comparative experiment according to oil thickener or dispersant content

[0078]

[0079] (1) Preparation of Examples and Comparative Examples

[0080] In order to determine the optimal content of the oil thickener or dispersant in the implementation of the present invention, examples and comparative examples were prepared in the same manner as Experimental Example 1 by changing only the content of the oil thickener or dispersant based on Example 1 as shown in Table 3 below. The units in Table 3 are weight%.

[0081]

[0082]

[0083] (2) Evaluation of dispersibility and formulation stability

[0084] The dispersibility and formulation stability of the comparative example were evaluated as described above using the same method as in Experimental Example 1, and the results are shown in Table 4 below. In addition, FIG. 2a shows a photograph of the bottom of the formulation taken immediately after preparing the comparative example, and FIG. 2b shows a photograph of the comparative example taken after storing it under cycle conditions.

[0085]

[0086]

[0087] According to Table 4 and Figures 2a and 2b above, Comparative Examples 4 and 6, which contained a small amount of hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer or silica dimethyl silylate, had poor dispersibility, so the powder settled at the bottom of the formulation immediately after preparation, and the formulation stability was also poor, so most of the powder settled at the bottom of the formulation, forming a band. Comparative Examples 5 and 7, which contained an excess amount of hydrogenated castor oil / sebacic acid copolymer or silica dimethyl silylate, had sufficient dispersion ability of the formulation so that a suspension was prepared; however, as a result of the formulation stability evaluation, gelling was induced in the formulation, and phase separation occurred, with an oil layer formed in the upper layer and a gel layer in the lower layer, confirming that the formulation was unstable.

[0088] Therefore, it was confirmed that in realizing a cosmetic composition of the present invention in which the dispersibility of the powder is improved and the formulation is stable, it is important to include a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant in appropriate amounts.

[0089]

[0090] Experimental Example 3. Experiment to confirm dispersion ability for various types of powders

[0091]

[0092] (1) Preparation of Examples and Comparative Examples

[0093] In order to confirm that the oil-dispersed cosmetic composition of the present invention can form a suspension by dispersing various powders through an optimal combination of oil thickener and dispersant, Examples 2 to 12 were prepared by replacing calamine, the powder of Example 1, with various powders listed in Table 5 below.

[0094]

[0095]

[0096] (2) Evaluation of dispersibility and formulation stability

[0097] The dispersibility and formulation stability of the example were evaluated as described above using the same method as in Experimental Example 1, and the results are shown in Table 6 below. In addition, FIG. 3a shows a photograph of the bottom of the formulation taken immediately after preparing the example, and FIG. 3b shows a photograph of the example taken after storing it under cycle conditions.

[0098]

[0099]

[0100] According to Table 6 and Figures 3a and 3b above, it was confirmed that by optimally combining a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant of the present invention, an oil-dispersed suspension with excellent stability can be prepared by improving dispersibility for various powders including inorganic powders including kaolin, zinc oxide, etc.; raw material powders including charcoal powder, buckwheat flour, etc.; scrub components including sucrose, etc.; and beads including dry beads, wet beads, etc., which are homogeneously dispersed within a formulation.

[0101] Accordingly, it was confirmed that the oil-dispersed cosmetic composition of the present invention exhibits significantly superior dispersibility and suspension stability for powders having various particle weights and particle sizes.

[0102]

[0103] In conclusion, as can be seen in Experimental Examples 1 to 3 above, it was confirmed that by optimally combining a specific oil thickener and a specific dispersant, a cosmetic composition with significantly improved dispersibility in powders and a stable formulation can be prepared.

[0104]

[0105] Foregoing, specific parts of the content of the present invention have been described in detail. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that such specific descriptions are merely preferred embodiments and do not limit the scope of the present invention. Accordingly, the actual scope of the present invention is defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
