Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The invention relates to a traditional Chinese medicine preparation for treating viral pneumonia, belonging to the technical field of traditional Chinese medicines. Background Art
[0002] Viral pneumonia is a common viral respiratory illness in clinical practice, presenting with symptoms such as fever, cough and sputum, and even chest tightness, shortness of breath, and dyspnea. Severe cases can be life-threatening. Viral pneumonia can be caused by various respiratory viruses, leading to damage to the bronchi and alveoli, causing lung inflammation and other respiratory infection symptoms, and even secondary respiratory failure and pulmonary fibrosis. Viral pneumonia is highly epidemic, seasonal, and contagious. Clinically, its occurrence is often closely linked to the patient's immune function and inflammatory factors. When the immune system is compromised, the virus is more likely to breach the immune barrier, invade lung tissue, trigger a series of inflammatory reactions, and release large amounts of inflammatory mediators. Currently, the diagnostic and treatment guidelines and expert consensus for viral pneumonia are not fully systematic and comprehensive. Clinically, the treatment of viral pneumonia still primarily relies on anti-influenza drugs, supplemented by symptomatic management. The "Chinese Expert Consensus on the Treatment and Prevention of Influenza with Antiviral Drugs" advocates the use of oseltamivir as a first-line treatment for influenza. In clinical practice, influenza-associated pneumonia often develops secondary to influenza, and therefore oseltamivir is also suitable for the treatment of influenza-associated pneumonia. However, with the continuous mutation of viruses, the efficacy of antiviral drugs like oseltamivir is becoming increasingly uncertain, and treatment may also be associated with various adverse reactions. Traditional Chinese medicine currently has some clinical experience in treating viral pneumonia. Previously, most traditional Chinese medicine practitioners believed that viral pneumonia was primarily caused by exposure to warm and hot pathogens, which were believed to be most susceptible to affecting the lungs. Clinically, treatment often used heat-clearing and cooling herbs such as Yinqiao Powder and Maxing Shigan Decoction. The current status of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine in treating viral pneumonia is generally unsatisfactory, with limited success in rapidly alleviating fever and cough, and in significantly shortening treatment courses. Currently, there is still a lack of a universally used and effective traditional Chinese medicine preparation for viral pneumonia. Summary of the Invention

[0033] In the past, most of the traditional Chinese medical science thought that the main cause of viral pneumonia was to feel the pathogenic factors of warm and hot nature, and thought that the pathogenic factors of warm and hot nature were the easiest to attack the lung, and clinically, the heat-clearing and cold-cooling medicine addition and subtraction treatments such as Yinqiao Powder, Maxing Shigan Decoction were used more. The present invention has found that the congenital vital energy deficiency of the overwhelming majority of patients of viral pneumonia or because of the acquired greed for coolness and the coldness and taking bitter cold medicine over a long period of time makes vital energy impaired, and again meet the mixed extremes of wind, cold, and dampness and become numbness, invade and form the lung paralysis of cold coagulation, stagnation of qi, blood stasis, thereby affect other viscera functions such as heart, kidney, liver, spleen, cause the water liquid transportation and distribution disorder, form cold drink.Cold drink numbness is blocked in the lung, causes the lung qi not to be announced, and water drink is not transformed, and clinically shows as cough, chest tightness and breath-holding, much thin sputum etc., because patient's vital energy is not enough so also can there be mental fatigue, shortness of breath, severe patient's dyspnea. Exogenous pathogens block lung qi, obstructing the qi flow and obstructing the lung collaterals, leading to poor blood circulation and internal blood stasis. Patients may experience symptoms such as cyanosis of the lips and a dark purple tongue. The Chinese medicine preparation of the present invention uses ginseng, mistletoe, and Gastrodia elata as main ingredients to strengthen the body's foundation, nourish the spleen and lungs, and strengthen the body's resistance and eliminate pathogenic factors. Ginseng can significantly replenish vital energy and has the effects of replenishing qi and strengthening deficiency. The "Ben Jing" records that "long-term use of Gastrodia elata can improve qi and strength, increase yin, promote weight gain, reduce weight, and increase longevity." Mistletoe can nourish the liver and kidneys and strengthen the tendons and bones. The auxiliary ingredients include cinnamon twig, processed evodia rutaecarpa, and saposhnikovia divaricata to promote lung defense, warm the lungs, eliminate phlegm, dispel cold, and relieve cough. They are used for coughs and expectoration caused by cold phlegm in the lungs. Schisandra chinensis is also used to nourish the lungs and kidneys, and is used for cough and asthma caused by lung and kidney deficiency. The adjuvant ingredients in this prescription include angelica sinensis, Chuanxiong rhizome, salvia miltiorrhiza, moutan bark, and red peony root to promote blood circulation, promote qi circulation, and dispel stasis and dredge the collaterals. Tangerine peel and Pinellia ternata are used to regulate qi and balance the middle qi, relieve coughs, and resolve phlegm. Pinellia ternata, in particular, is a key herb for treating damp phlegm. Roasted licorice root, as a guiding herb in the formula, not only tonifies the spleen and replenishes qi, moistens the lungs and relieves coughs, but also harmonizes the other herbs. Together, these herbs achieve the effects of strengthening the body's vital energy, dispelling pathogenic factors, promoting lung defense, warming the lungs and eliminating fluid, activating blood circulation and qi, removing blood stasis and unblocking meridians, and relieving coughs and phlegm, all while relieving numbness.

[0047] ③ Clinical efficacy criteria: After one week of treatment, if the patient's body temperature returns to normal, symptoms such as cough, chest tightness and shortness of breath disappear, and lung CT shows complete absorption of lung lesions, it is clinically cured; if the patient's body temperature is basically normal, symptoms such as cough, chest tightness and shortness of breath are significantly improved, and lung CT shows that most of the lung lesions are absorbed, it is considered a marked effect. If the patient's fever is reduced, symptoms such as cough, chest tightness and shortness of breath improve, and lung CT shows that the lung lesions are partially absorbed, it is considered an improvement; if the patient's fever, cough, chest tightness and shortness of breath do not improve, and lung CT shows that the lung lesions do not change or worsen, it is considered an ineffective treatment.
[0048] (6) Statistical methods Data were collated and statistically analyzed using R (version 4.5.0). Continuous data were first subjected to the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. If normal distribution was satisfied, the t-test was used; if not, the Wilcoxon rank-sum test was used. Enumeration data were analyzed using the chi-square test based on theoretical frequency and sample size. Two-sided or one-sided tests were used depending on the study objectives. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
