AI Technical Summary
Existing firearms experience high air resistance and pressure fluctuations during projectile flight, leading to reduced muzzle speed and range, particularly when using larger propellant loads.
A projectile design featuring a flow channel with a cavity and a separable locking cap that reduces air resistance by opening upon exit, utilizing a glue or wax attachment that separates due to heat and rotation, allowing for a permeable flow channel and reduced pressure.
Enhances muzzle speed and increases projectile range by minimizing air resistance and pressure fluctuations during flight.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to increasing the muzzle velocity and the range of a projectile from a barrel-supported firearm, which is intended to achieve a greater range when fired with the same propellant charge and caliber.
[0002] To achieve a higher muzzle velocity and thus a greater range, a higher gas pressure is generally necessary, which can be achieved, among other things, with a larger propellant charge.
[0003] Shaped charge projectiles with a cavity in which a vacuum prevails are from DE 1 147 143
[0004] known in the prior art.
[0005] Furthermore, EP 2 245 419 B1 describes a projectile for a liquid explosive in which a cavity is provided inside the projectile casing.
[0006] A general disadvantage of state-of-the-art technology is that the air resistance in the barrel of a firearm is relatively high when the projectile is fired, negatively affecting its acceleration. Another significant disadvantage is that the projectile is subjected to dynamic pressure in its front section and negative pressure (suction) in its rear section during flight, thus reducing its range.
[0007] Therefore, the object of the present invention is to improve the known disadvantages of stationary firearms by at least reducing the air pressure in the barrel of a firearm when a projectile is fired. It is also an object to optimize or improve the air resistance of the projectile during the flight phase and thereby achieve a greater range.
[0008] This problem is solved by the characterizing features of the main claims. Further features essential to the invention can be found in the dependent claims and the detailed description.
[0009] The invention aims to increase the muzzle velocity when firing a firearm in the period from the triggering of the shot until the projectile exits the barrel, characterized in that a flow channel is located in the projectile in which a small volume of air can be absorbed. This cavity in the flow channel reduces the pressure that arises before the projectile exits the barrel.
[0010] This allows for a higher muzzle velocity.
[0011] To withstand the extreme pressure exerted on the projectile base during firing and to keep it sealed, a separable sealing cap is mounted on the projectile base, which separates from the projectile after leaving the barrel due to rotation and a lower specific weight.
[0012] The ejection of the cap is similar to that of a plowing mirror. This opens the flow channel, significantly reducing air resistance, thus decreasing dynamic pressure and negative pressure, and consequently making a greater range very likely.
[0013] It is also advantageous that the cap is attached with an adhesive or wax; these connections should be chosen so that they can be separated again during firing due to the heat and rotation of the projectile.
[0014] Another advantage is that the open flow channel at the front exerts pressure on the cap during flight, thus contributing to the cap being ejected.
[0015] The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to drawings.
[0016] It shows Fig. 1 a schematic representation of a projectile 1, with a central flow channel 2, which has a cavity, and in the rear part of the projectile 1, is a closing cap 3, which is in contact with a sealing material 4, with the projectile 1. Fig. 2 a top view of the projectile 1, with the flow channel 2, as well as a side view of the sealing cap 3, Fig. 3 a schematic representation of a projectile 1, during the flight phase with the flow channel 2 open, QUOTES INCLUDED IN THE DESCRIPTION
