Abstract

The innovation relates to the development of Organic Superabsorbent Polymer (OSAP) derived from agricultural biomass for application in sanitary pads. The innovation focuses on the preparation of absorbent paper characterized by its exceptional water absorption and retention capacity. This absorbent paper demonstrates significant utility [በ various contexts, including the effective removal of fluids from menstrual discharge, wound exudate, and liquid spills on hard surfaces. Comprehensive evaluations confirm that the product is safe, non-toxic, and non-irritant, making it suitable for personal hygiene applications. The invention resulted in sanitary pad moisture absorption capacity as high as 578% of its weight. This invention indicates the potential of agricultural waste to create sustainable and environmentally friendly materials for health and hygiene products, contributing to both waste reduction and the enhancement of user comfort and safety.
