Abstract

The present invention provides an optical transmission system and transmitter that transmit a signal that stably restores the carrier phase of a signal that has undergone THP (Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding) processing. [Solution] An optical transmission device comprising an optical transmitter and an optical receiver that receives signal light transmitted from the optical transmitter via a transmission path, wherein the optical transmitter generates a first digital signal comprising a first signal corresponding to a pilot symbol and a second signal corresponding to a data signal, and a second digital signal comprising a third signal comprising information regarding the carrier phase of the first signal after THP processing is performed, performs THP processing on the second digital signal, and transmits signal light generated based on the third digital signal, which is the processed signal, to the transmission path. The optical receiver receives the signal light from the transmission path and compensates for errors in the second signal based on the first signal and the third signal of the third digital signal generated based on the received signal light.
