Abstract

To provide a card processing device capable of efficiently reading the necessary information, and a covering member which is attached to the same and used.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a card issuing device 1 which processes a card 2 including a plurality of information recording parts (bar code 2a, bar code 2b, bar code 2c) capable of reading the information optically. [0010] The following describes a card issuing device 1, which is one embodiment of the card processing device of the present invention. The card processing device of the present invention is not limited to a card issuing device with a card issuing function, but can also be applied to a card reader into which a card is inserted and information is read.

[0011] (General configuration of card issuing device) Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing a schematic configuration of a card issuing device 1. Fig. 2 is a plan view showing an example of a card 2 to be processed by the card issuing device 1.

[0012] The card issuing device 1 includes a card reader 3 that reads information recorded on a card 2 or records information on the card 2, at least reading information from the card 2; a card feeding mechanism 4 that feeds the card 2 toward the card reader 3 before issuance; and a card collecting unit 5 that collects unnecessary cards 2. The card 2 is, for example, a rectangular vinyl chloride card with a thickness of approximately 0.7 to 0.8 mm. As shown in FIG. 2, the card 2 has three optically readable information recording units: a barcode 2a, a barcode 2b, and a barcode 2c. One of the barcodes 2a, 2b, and 2c (e.g., the barcode 2c) may be omitted. Alternatively, any of the barcodes 2a, 2b, and 2c may be replaced with a two-dimensional code. In addition to these information recording units, the card 2 may also have a magnetic stripe or an IC chip on which magnetic data is recorded.

The card reader 3 comprises a reader unit 7 including a scanner 32 capable of reading information from the information recording unit of the card 2, and a transport unit 8 that transports the card 2 to a reading position or ejects it to the outside. As shown in Fig. 9, the tip of protrusion 73a is located rearward of the tip of protrusion 76. In addition, the tip of protrusion 74a is located forward of the tip of protrusion 78. As shown in Fig. 10, the top surfaces of attachment portion 75, protrusion 76, protrusion 77, and protrusion 78 are positioned at the same vertical position.

Furthermore, because the covering members 51 and 52 are detachable, when it is necessary to read information from all of the multiple information recording units, the covering members 51 and 52 can be removed from the attachment portion 75, allowing information to be read from all of the multiple information recording units. By preparing covering members corresponding to each card 2, cards with various information recording unit arrangements can be accommodated. Furthermore, since the cover members 51 and 52 are supported by the attachment portion 75 and the protrusions 76, 76, 77, the positions of the cover members 51 and 52 can be stabilized, and only the necessary information recording portions can be stably exposed.
