AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional cell assemblies in battery packs are prone to swelling due to gas generation, which can lead to deformation and affect the entire assembly, necessitating a reinforcement structure to suppress this phenomenon.

Method used

A cell assembly design featuring reinforcing plates with interlocking protrusions and insertion holes on both sides, forming an auxiliary partition wall that supports the cell block and is connected to the pack case, thereby stabilizing the assembly.

Benefits of technology

The design effectively suppresses swelling of cell assemblies within the pack case and enhances assembly efficiency by eliminating the need for separate side walls, providing structural support and stability.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a cell assembly and a battery pack including the same. The cell assembly of the present invention includes a cell block including a plurality of cells, and a pair of reinforcing plates coupled to both side surfaces of the cell block so as to support both side surfaces of the cell block and including protrusions on the outer surfaces. The reinforcing plates include a first reinforcing plate coupled to one side of the cell block and a second reinforcing plate coupled to the other side of the cell block, and the outer surface of the first reinforcing plate and the outer surface of the second reinforcing plate have a shape that meshes with each other. Further, the battery pack of the present invention includes a cell assembly and a pack case including a housing portion in which the cell assembly is housed. The cell assembly includes a pair of reinforcing plates coupled to both sides so as to support the side surfaces. Any pair of cell assemblies housed adjacent to the housing portion are coupled such that the first reinforcing plate and the second reinforcing plate are combined to form one auxiliary partition wall.
