Abstract
Claims
[Claim 1] A method for producing cuprous oxide particles having a cubic or rectangular parallelepiped shape with a side length of 10 nm to 1,000 nm, containing at least one additive element selected from the group consisting of tin, vanadium, cerium, and silver, The method involves mixing an aqueous solution containing copper ions and at least one additive ion selected from the group consisting of divalent tin ions, tetravalent vanadium ions, trivalent cerium ions, and monovalent silver ions with an alkaline solution to produce copper hydroxide, and then adding a reducing sugar solution to reduce and precipitate cuprous oxide particles. The temperature used to produce copper hydroxide is set to 30°C to 95°C. The temperature used for reducing and precipitating cuprous oxide particles is set to 30°C to 95°C. For every mole of copper hydroxide, add the reducing sugar solution over a period of 0 to 60 seconds so that the total amount of reducing sugar is between 0 and 3 moles, then carry out the reduction reaction for 5 to 120 minutes. The temperature rise from the start of copper hydroxide formation until the end of the reduction reaction is maintained between 0°C and 10°C. A method for producing cuprous oxide particles, characterized by stirring the solution at a peripheral speed of 0.1 m / s to 40 m / s when generating copper hydroxide and when reducing and precipitating cuprous oxide particles.
