Abstract

This invention provides an optical module and information device that improve the reliability of optical fibers. The optical module of this invention includes: a substrate having a main surface; an optical element disposed on the main surface; a lens component disposed on the main surface; an optical fiber having an end portion and a continuous coating portion extending from the end portion; a coating member covering the coating portion in a manner that exposes the end portion; an auxiliary member; and a bonding portion. The lens component includes: an optical fiber holding portion holding the end portion; and a lens portion disposed in the optical path between the optical element and the end portion of the optical fiber. The auxiliary member is disposed relative to the optical fiber holding portion in a first direction from the end portion of the optical fiber toward the coating portion. The bonding portion bonds the coating member and the auxiliary member.
