[0001] The invention relates to a piece of furniture and according to one example to a freestanding item, such as a coat rack or coat stand. Such a coat rack is often used adjacent an entry / exit door in a hallway in a building for supporting clothing articles in a hanging position.
[0002] According to prior art, a coat rack is known that comprises a straight elongated tubular member of a metallic material that is intended to be arranged vertically. The straight elongated tubular member comprises a first opening structure adjacent a first end and a second opening structure adjacent a second end opposite the first end. Each one of the first opening structure and the second opening structure comprises a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings. A plurality of legs are firmly connected to the elongated tubular member via the first opening structure in a way that they extend transversally outwards from the elongated tubular member. According to one example, four legs are provided with circumferentially equal spacing. Each leg is provided with a pair of through holes for mating with a corresponding pair of through holes in the elongated tubular member. A fastener in the form of a screw is adapted to be received in each set of mating holes for firmly connecting the leg to the elongated tubular member. Further, a plurality of hooks are firmly connected to the elongated tubular member via the second opening structure in a way that they extend transversally outwards from the elongated tubular member for supporting clothing articles in a hanging position. According to one example, five hooks are provided with circumferentially equal spacing. Each hook is provided with a pair of through holes for mating with a corresponding pair of through holes in the elongated tubular member. A fastener in the form of a screw is adapted to be received in each set of mating holes for firmly connecting the hook to the elongated tubular member.
[0003] To facilitate transportation and storage, it is common that furniture is shipped in a disassembled state that occupies a smaller volume than the assembled furniture. The furniture is designed so that the disassembled components can be compactly packed into a smaller container than otherwise would be possible.
[0004] During assembly, an end user would need to attach all said screws (that is 18 screws according to the example above) for connecting the legs and the hooks to the straight elongated tubular member. Although the prior art piece of furniture as described above has worked well, connecting all said screws may be cumbersome for some end users, wherein an arrangement providing for a facilitated assembly is desired.SUMMARY
[0005] A first object of the invention is to achieve a piece of furniture that creates conditions for a facilitated assembly and provides for a steady furniture in the assembled state.
[0006] The object is achieved by a piece of furniture according to claim 1. Thus, it is achieved by piece of furniture comprising an elongated tubular member that has a longitudinal extension direction and at least one component that is adapted to be firmly connected to the elongated tubular member in a way that it extends transversally outwards from the elongated tubular member, wherein the elongated tubular member comprises a slot structure that comprises at least one slot that extends throughout a thickness of a wall of the elongated tubular member, wherein the slot has a wide region and a narrow region, wherein the at least one slot is oriented with its narrow region distant from a free edge of the elongated tubular member at an end of the elongated tubular member, wherein one of the at least one component comprises a connection projection, wherein the narrow region of the slot is adapted to receive the connection projection for firmly connecting the component relative to the elongated tubular member, wherein the connection projection is adapted to be inserted in the wide region of the slot and moved towards the narrow region of the slot during assembly, wherein the slot structure is arranged adjacent the end of the elongated tubular member, wherein the end of the elongated tubular member is open in the longitudinal extension direction of the elongated tubular member, wherein the piece of furniture comprises an end cap structure for attachment to the open end of the elongated tubular member and wherein the end cap structure is adapted to engage with the component in an assembled state for maintaining the connection projection in the narrow region of the slot.

[0050] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXAMPLE EMBODIMENTS
[0051] Fig. 1 discloses a piece of furniture 1 in the form of a coat rack (also called coat stand) . The piece of furniture 1 comprises a floor support arrangement 2 adapted to engage a floor. The piece of furniture 1 further comprises an arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles in a hanging position. The piece of furniture 1 further comprises an elongated tubular member 4 that has a longitudinal extension direction 5. The elongated tubular member 4 is adapted to be arranged between the floor support arrangement 2 and the arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles for distancing the arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles from the floor. More specifically, the elongated tubular member 4 is adapted to be arranged so that the arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles is spaced from the floor support arrangement 2 at a distance convenient for a user to reach the arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles while standing upright. More specifically, the elongated tubular member 4 is adapted to be arranged so that the arrangement 3 for supporting clothing articles is spaced from the floor at about shoulder height or head height of the user. More specifically, the piece of furniture 1 is designed so that the elongated tubular member 4 is oriented with its longitudinal extension direction 5 vertically when the piece of furniture 1 is in an assembled and operational state.

1.A piece of furniture (1) comprising an elongated tubular member (4) that has a longitudinal extension direction (5) and at least one component (6, 11) that is adapted to be firmly connected to the elongated tubular member (4) in a way that it extends transversally outwards from the tubular member, wherein the elongated tubular member (4) comprises a slot structure (18, 80) that comprises at least one slot (20, 120) that extends throughout a thickness of a wall (22) of the elongated tubular member (4) , wherein the slot has a wide region (24, 124) and a narrow region (26, 126) , wherein the at least one slot (20, 120) is oriented with its narrow region (26, 126) distant from a free edge of the elongated tubular member at one end (30, 82) of the tubular member, wherein one of the at least one component (6, 11) comprises a connection projection (32, 132) , wherein the narrow region (26, 126) of the slot (20, 120) is adapted to receive the connection projection (32, 132) for firmly
