[0015] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] The invention relates to an antiviral and antiseptic mouthwash composition comprising herbal extracts effective against halitosis and aphthae. The composition further comprises 1-5% tetraphenylborate, which is a specific anti-inflammatory boron compound, together with an aqueous solution of 15% sodium tetraborate, turmeric (Curcumin), broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Italica), tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), clove (Dianthus caryophyllus L.), thyme (Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum), cinnamon (Cinnamomum), lycopene (Solanum lycopersicum), and elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.).
[0017] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0018] Within the scope of the invention, the composition comprises herbal ingredients possessing anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antiseptic properties effective against oral malodor and aphthae, namely:
[0019] - Turmeric (Curcumin),
[0020] - Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Italica),
[0021] - Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia),
[0022] - Clove (Dianthus caryophyllus L.), - Thyme (Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum),
[0023] - Cinnamon (Cinnamomum),
[0024] - Lycopene (Solanum lycopersicum),
[0025] - Elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.).
[0026] The compound composition prepared using these plants comprises 1-5% by weight of tetraphenylborate, which is a boron compound with antiviral properties and must be used in low concentrations. This proportion is determined according to the desired taste and consistency; it should not be less than 1 % and should not exceed 5%. In addition, the composition includes an aqueous solution containing 15% by weight of sodium tetraborate (Na2[B4O5(OH)4]-8H2O). Higher concentrations of sodium tetraborate may cause boron toxicity and adversely affect taste. The composition further contains turmeric (Curcumin), broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Italica), tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia), clove (Dianthus caryophyllus L.), thyme (Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum), cinnamon (Cinnamomum), lycopene (Solanum lycopersicum), and elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.). The proportions by weight of turmeric, broccoli, tea tree, clove, thyme, cinnamon, lycopene, and elderberry within the compound range from 1 % to 50% for each component. An exemplary formulation of the invention is provided below:
[0027] • Turmeric (Curcumin): 20%
[0028] • Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. Italica): 13%
[0029] • Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia): 6%
[0030] • Clove (Dianthus caryophyllus L.): 7%
[0031] • Thyme (Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum): 23%
[0032] • Cinnamon (Cinnamomum): 5%
[0033] • Lycopene (Solanum lycopersicum): 9%
[0034] • Elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.): 17%
[0035] In the production method of the compound defined above, turmeric, broccoli, tea tree, clove, thyme, cinnamon, lycopene, and elderberry plants were first obtained. Within the compound, aqueous extracts of all these plants were used. For this purpose, the plants were dried in the shade for a period of 8-10 days. They were then ground using a grinder and placed into special containers for tincturing. Medical alcohol was added to the plants in a proportion of 40-65% by weight. The prepared tinctures were kept for a maximum of 21 days, with the duration varying depending on the plant type. The products were subsequently transferred to a press-filtration system for the separation of solid and liquid phases. The combined liquids obtained from this process were separated from solvents using an evaporation system. The resulting extract was then mixed with a solution comprising 40% ethyl alcohol, 5% isopropyl alcohol, 5% ethyl acetate, and 50% water, forming a homogeneous mixture. The tetra phenylborate and sodium tetraborate used in the compound were dissolved in 0.1-1 liter of warm water with the aid of a mechanical stirrer. The boron solution thus prepared was mixed with the plant extract mixture in a ratio of 5% plant mixture to 95% boron solution, yielding the final product. No chemical preservatives were used in the composition of the invention.
