[0039] Hereinafter, a display device according to the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Whenever possible, the same reference numerals will be used throughout the drawings to refer to the same or like parts.

[0040] Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a display device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, and Figure 2 It is shown Figure 1 1. A plan view of a first substrate, a source driver IC, a flexible film, a circuit board, and a timing controller.

[0041] An example in which the transparent display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is implemented as an organic light emitting display device will be mainly described, but the transparent display device 100 may be implemented as a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, a plasma display panel (PDP), a quantum dot light emitting display (OLED) device, or an electrophoretic display device.

[0042] Reference Figure 1 and Figure 2 , a display device 100 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a display panel 110 , a source driving integrated circuit 140 (hereinafter referred to as “IC”), a flexible film 150 , a circuit board 160 , and a timing controller 170 .

[0043] The display panel 110 includes a first substrate 111 and a second substrate 112. The second substrate 112 may be a packaging substrate. The first substrate 111 may be a plastic film, a glass substrate or a silicon wafer substrate formed using a semiconductor process. The second substrate 112 may be a plastic film, a glass substrate or a packaging film.

[0044] The display device 100 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may be formed as a bottom emission type in which the emitted light propagates downward, but is not limited to this type. If the display device 100 is formed as a bottom emission type in which the emitted light propagates downward, the first substrate 111 may be formed of a transparent material, and the second substrate 112 may be formed of an opaque material as well as a transparent material. Meanwhile, the display device 100 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is formed as a top emission type in which the emitted light propagates upward, the first substrate 111 may be formed of an opaque material as well as a transparent material, and the second substrate 112 may be formed of a transparent material.

[0045] Gate lines, data lines, and pixels exist on one surface of the first substrate 111 facing the second substrate 112. Pixels are prepared in respective regions defined by crossing the gate lines and the data lines.

[0046] Each of the pixels may include a thin film transistor (TFT) and a light emitting device including a first electrode, a light emitting layer, and a second electrode. If a gate signal is provided from a gate line to each pixel by using a TFT, a predetermined current is provided to the light emitting device according to a data voltage of a data line. Therefore, when a high potential voltage is applied to an anode electrode and a low potential voltage is applied to a cathode electrode, the light emitting device for each of the pixels may emit light having a predetermined brightness according to a predetermined current.

[0047] The display panel 110 may include a display area DA in which subpixels are provided for displaying an image and a non-display area NDA in which no image is displayed. [0048] The gate driver 120 provides a gate signal to the gate line according to a gate control signal provided from the timing controller 170. The gate driver 120 may be provided on one side of the display area DA of the display panel 110 or the non-display area NDA of both peripheral sides of the display panel 110 by a gate in panel (GIP) method. In another manner, the gate driver 120 may be manufactured in a driving chip, may be mounted on a flexible film, and may be attached to one side of the display area DA of the display panel 110 or the non-display area NDA of both peripheral sides of the display panel 110 by a tape automated bonding (TAB) method.

[0049] The source driver IC 140 receives digital video data and a source control signal from the timing controller 170. The source driver IC 140 converts the digital video data into an analog data voltage according to the source control signal, and supplies the analog data voltage to the data line. If the source driver IC 140 is manufactured in a driver chip, the source driver IC 140 may be mounted on the flexible film 150 by a chip on film (COF) method or a chip on plastic (COP) method.

[0050] Pads such as data pads may be provided in the non-display area NDA of the display panel 110. In the flexible film 150, there are wires for connecting the pads with the source driver IC 140 and wires for connecting the pads with wires of the circuit board 160. The flexible film 150 is attached to the pads by using an anisotropic conductive film, so that the pads may be connected with the wires of the flexible film 150.

[0051] The circuit board 160 may be attached to the flexible film 150. A plurality of circuits implemented with a plurality of driving chips may be mounted on the circuit board 160. For example, the timing controller 170 may be mounted on the circuit board 160. The circuit board 160 may be a printed circuit board or a flexible printed circuit board.

[0052] The timing controller 170 receives digital video data and a timing signal from an external system board via a cable of the circuit board 160. The timing controller 170 generates a gate control signal for controlling the operation timing of the gate driver and a source control signal for controlling the source driver IC 140 based on the timing signal. The timing controller 170 provides the gate control signal to the gate driver and provides the source control signal to the source driver IC 140.

[0080] The adhesive layer 290 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes an adhesive resin 291 and is used to adhere the first substrate 111 and the second substrate 112 to each other. At the same time, the adhesive layer 290 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include a water absorbing material 292 and may have an encapsulation function to prevent water entering the inside of the display panel 110 from penetrating into the light emitting diode 280.

[0081] In the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, since the adhesive layer 290 has an encapsulation function, a separate encapsulation film may not be provided over the light emitting diode 280. Therefore, the thickness of the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may be reduced.

[0082] In addition, in the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the design margin of the encapsulation film in the non-display area may not be considered. In detail, the encapsulation film may generally include at least one inorganic film and at least one organic film. The inorganic film constituting the encapsulation film may be arranged to cover the light-emitting diode 280. At this time, the inorganic film may be deposited by a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method or an atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. Since the inorganic film deposited by the CVD or ALD method has a good step coverage, sufficient margin should be considered so that the inorganic film may not be formed to reach the end of the display panel 110.

[0083] In addition, the organic film constituting the encapsulation film has flexibility. In a general display panel 110, an element for blocking the flow of the organic film constituting the encapsulation film, such as a dam, should be provided in the non-display area NDA. Therefore, a design margin for forming the dam is required for the non-display area NDA.

[0084] The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure does not need to consider the design margin of the inorganic film constituting the encapsulation film and the design margin of the dam in the non-display area NDA because the encapsulation film is not provided. Therefore, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can reduce the width between the display area DA and the end, that is, the width of the non-display area NDA.

[0085] Refer again Figure 3 , a pad area PA in which a pad is disposed may be included in the non-display area NDA. The pad area PA may be arranged at an edge above one side of the display panel 110. The pad area PA may include a plurality of pads, and the plurality of pads may be electrically connected to the wires of the flexible film 150 through anisotropic conduction.

[0086] In addition, a plurality of signal lines or a plurality of pads connected to the pixels P disposed in the display area DA are arranged in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of signal lines may provide signals, voltages, power, etc. for driving the pixels P to the pixels P. For example, the plurality of signal lines may include a power line for transmitting power provided through the pads to the pixels. For another example, the plurality of signal lines may include a gate driver for providing a gate signal to a gate line.

[0087] The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a plurality of organic patterns OP disposed in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of organic patterns OP may be disposed over the plurality of signal lines to prevent the plurality of signal lines from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0088] In the following, reference will be made to Figures 5 to 8 A plurality of organic patterns OP according to one embodiment of the present disclosure are described in detail.

[0089] Reference Figures 5 to 8 The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is divided into a display area DA and a non-display area NDA. The display area DA is provided with pixels P, which are composed of TFTs 210, capacitors 220, and light emitting diodes 280. A plurality of signal lines SL and a plurality of organic patterns OP are provided in the non-display area NDA.

[0090] The plurality of signal lines SL are connected to the pixels P and provide signals, voltages, power, etc. for driving the pixels P. Each of the plurality of signal lines SL may be disposed over the same layer as any one of the light blocking layer 205, the gate electrode 212, the source electrode 213, and the drain electrode 214 of the display area DA. Each of the plurality of signal lines SL may be made of the same material as any one of the light blocking layer 205, the gate electrode 212, the source electrode 213, and the drain electrode 214 of the display area DA.

[0091] A plurality of organic patterns OP are disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL in the non-display area NDA The plurality of organic patterns OP may include first, second, and third organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 spaced apart from each other at predetermined intervals.

[0092] although Figure 3 , Figure 5 and Figure 8 The display panel 110 is shown to include three organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3, but the present disclosure is not limited to Figure 3 , Figure 5 and Figure 8 The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include two or more organic patterns OP, and a spacing distance between the organic patterns OP and the number of the organic patterns OP may vary according to the width of the non-display area NDA and the thickness of the adhesive layer 290 .

[0093] Hereinafter, for convenience of description, a description will be given based on that the display panel 110 includes three organic patterns OP1 , OP2 , and OP3 .

[0094] The third organic pattern OP3 is disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL. The third organic pattern OP3 prevents the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0095] Particles of various sizes may enter the inside of the display panel 110. At this time, a plurality of lines arranged inside the display panel 110 may be damaged by the particles entering the inside of the display panel 110. In particular, an inorganic film is provided only in the non-display area NDA without an organic film to block the propagation of water or oxygen. The plurality of lines SL may be protected only by the inorganic film having a low impact absorption rate and a thin thickness in the non-display area NDA. If pressure is applied to the display panel 110, the particles may penetrate into the non-display area NDA by passing through the inorganic film, thereby easily damaging the plurality of lines SL provided in the non-display area NDA.

[0096] In order to solve the above problem, in the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a third organic pattern OP3 is provided above the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA. The third organic pattern OP3 may be made of an organic material having a better impact absorption rate than that of an inorganic material to absorb the pressure applied to the particles. Therefore, the third organic pattern OP3 may reduce the pressure delivered to the plurality of signal lines SL. In addition, the third organic pattern OP3 may be provided with a thickness sufficient to prevent the plurality of lines SL from being damaged by the particles even if pressure is applied to the particles.

[0097] The third organic pattern OP3 is disposed to be spaced apart from the organic film disposed in the display area DA. In detail, the third organic pattern OP3 may be spaced apart from the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 extending from the display area DA. The planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 extending from the third organic pattern OP3 and the display area DA may be made of an organic material susceptible to water and oxygen. By spacing the third organic pattern OP3 apart from the organic film disposed in the display area DA, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may prevent water or oxygen from penetrating into the display area DA through the third organic pattern OP3.

[0098] like Figure 3 As shown, the third organic pattern OP3 is formed in the shape of a line surrounding the display area DA.

[0099] The third organic pattern OP3 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3103 and a second layer 3203, as shown in FIG. Figure 5 and Figure 6 As shown. In this case, each of the first layer 3103 and the second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as any one of the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 of the display area DA. For example, the first layer 3103 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 simultaneously with the bank 284 of the display area DA, and the second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the spacer 285 simultaneously with the spacer 285 of the display area DA. For another example, the first layer 3103 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the planarization film 260 simultaneously with the planarization film 260 of the display area DA, and the second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 simultaneously with the bank 284 of the display area DA.

[0100] like Figure 5 and Figure 6As shown, the third organic pattern OP3 may have an undercut structure in which the width of the second layer 3203 is wider than the width of the first layer 3103. That is, the third organic pattern OP3 may be an undercut organic pattern.

[0101] In detail, the first layer 3103 of the third organic pattern OP3 may have a forward tapered structure in which a width W1 of a lower surface is wider than a width W2 of an upper surface. The second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may have an inverted tapered structure in which a width W2 of a lower surface is narrower than a width W3 of an upper surface. The lower surface of the second layer 3203 is adjacent to the upper surface of the first layer 3103, and thus has the same width as the width W2 of the upper surface of the first layer 3103. The third organic pattern OP3 may have an undercut structure in which a width W3 of an upper surface of the second layer 3203 is wider than a width W1 of a lower surface of the first layer 3103.

[0102] although Figure 5 and Figure 6 It is shown that the third organic pattern OP3 has a two-layer structure, but the present disclosure is not limited to Figure 5 and Figure 6 In another embodiment, Figure 7 As shown, the third organic pattern OP3 may have a single-layer structure including only the second layer 3203. In this case, the third organic pattern OP3 may have an inverted tapered structure in which a width W2 of a lower surface is narrower than a width W3 of an upper surface.

[0103] In the display panel 110 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 are disposed even in the non-display area NDA as well as the display area DA. At this time, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 may be short-circuited by the third organic pattern OP3.

[0104] In detail, the third organic pattern OP3 is disposed to be spaced apart from the organic film (e.g., the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285) disposed in the display area DA. Therefore, the sides of the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 disposed in the display area DA are exposed between the display area DA and the third organic pattern OP3. The light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 disposed in the display area DA may extend to the non-display area NDA and may be disposed along the sides of the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 exposed from the non-display area NDA.

[0105] In addition, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 are also disposed above the third organic pattern OP3 disposed in the non-display area NDA. Figure 6Alternatively, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 may be short-circuited due to the third organic pattern OP3 having the undercut structure shown. Figure 7 If the third organic pattern OP3 has a reverse tapered structure as shown in FIG. Figure 7 2. If the third organic pattern OP3 has an inverted tapered structure as shown in FIG. 1 , the short circuit of the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 may vary according to the tapered angle. Since the tapered angle may vary according to the processor error, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 may not be short-circuited. On the other hand, if the third organic pattern OP3 has an inverted tapered structure as shown in FIG. Figure 6 The undercut structure shown can ensure the short circuit between the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 .

[0106] Therefore, the light emitting layer 282 extending from the display area DA is arranged to be spaced apart from the light emitting layer 282 disposed over the third organic pattern OP3. The second electrode 283 extending from the display area DA is arranged to be spaced apart from the second electrode 283 disposed over the third organic pattern OP3.

[0107] Therefore, even if water or oxygen enters the light-emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed above the third organic pattern OP3, water or oxygen can be prevented from propagating into the light-emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed in the display area DA through the light-emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed above the third organic pattern OP3.

[0108] The second organic pattern OP2 and the first organic pattern OP1 are disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL. The second organic pattern OP2 and the first organic pattern OP1 together with the third organic pattern OP3 prevent the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110 .

[0109] The first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 may be made of an organic material having a good impact absorption rate in the same manner as the third organic pattern OP3, and thus may absorb the pressure applied by the particles. Therefore, the first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 may reduce the pressure delivered to the plurality of signal lines SL. In addition, the first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 may be set to a thickness sufficient to prevent the plurality of lines SL from being damaged by the particles even if pressure is applied to the particles.

[0110] The second organic pattern OP2 is spaced apart from the third organic pattern OP3, so that Figure 3 As shown in FIG. 1 , the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed in a line shape surrounding the third organic pattern OP3. The first organic pattern OP1 is spaced apart from the second organic pattern OP2. Figure 3 As shown, it may be formed in the shape of a line surrounding the second organic pattern OP2.

[0111] In the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3 are arranged to be spaced apart from each other. Therefore, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water or oxygen entering the first organic pattern OP1 from penetrating into the second organic pattern OP2. In addition, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water or oxygen entering the second organic pattern OP2 from penetrating into the third organic pattern OP3. As a result, even if the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 are arranged in the non-display area NDA, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water from propagating through the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3.

[0112] Meanwhile, the spacing distance S1 between the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3 may vary according to the thickness of the adhesive layer 290. In this case, the spacing distance S1 may indicate the distance between the upper surfaces of the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3. For example, the spacing distance S1 indicates the distance between one end portion above the upper surface of the first organic pattern OP1 and one end portion above the upper surface of the second organic pattern OP2. At this time, one end portion of the upper surface of the second organic pattern OP2 is an edge facing one end portion of the upper surface of the first organic pattern OP1.

[0113] In detail, a spacing distance S1 between the first, second, and third organic patterns OP1 , OP2 , and OP3 is shorter than a distance S2 from an upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed above the organic patterns OP1 , OP2 , and OP3 to an upper surface of the adhesive layer 290 .

[0114] The spacing distances S1 between the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3 may be equal to or different from each other. For example, the spacing distance between the first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 and the spacing distance between the second organic pattern OP2 and the third organic pattern OP3 may be equal to or different from each other. Even in the case where the spacing distances are different from each other, the spacing distance between the first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 and the spacing distance between the second organic pattern OP2 and the third organic pattern OP3 should be shorter than the distance S2 from the upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed above the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 to the upper surface of the adhesive layer 290.

[0115] like Figure 8As shown, particles of various sizes may enter the interior of the display panel 110. If pressure is applied to the first particles P1 that are large in size, the first particles P1 may reach the plurality of signal lines SL by passing through the adhesive layer 290. On the other hand, even if pressure is applied to the smaller second particles P2, the second particles P2 cannot pass through the adhesive layer 290 and thus cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL.

[0116] The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent the first particles P1 that are large in size from reaching the plurality of signal lines SL by controlling the spacing distance S1 between the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3. To this end, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can be configured to allow the spacing distance S1 between the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3 to be shorter than the distance S2 from the upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed above the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 to the upper surface of the adhesive layer 290.

[0117] The first particles P1 having the first diameter R1 greater than the spacing distance S1 between the first, second, and third organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 cannot enter the region between the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3.

[0118] The first particle P1 cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL above the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 due to the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3. In addition, since the first particle P1 has a first diameter R1 greater than the spacing distance S1 between the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3, the first particle P1 cannot enter the area between the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3. Therefore, the first particle P1 cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL between the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3.

[0119] Therefore, since the first particles P1 that are large in size cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL by passing through the adhesive layer 290 , the plurality of signal lines SL may be prevented from being damaged.

[0120] Meanwhile, the first organic pattern OP1 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3101 and a second layer 3201, such as Figure 5 and Figure 6 In this case, each of the first layer 3101 and the second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as any one of the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285 of the display area DA. The second organic pattern OP2 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3102 and a second layer 3202, as shown in FIG. Figure 5 and Figure 6In this case, each of the first layer 3102 and the second layer 3202 of the second organic pattern OP2 may be formed of the same material as any one of the planarization film 260 , the bank 284 , and the spacer 285 of the display area DA.

[0121] For example, the first layer 3101 of the first organic pattern OP1 and the first layer 3102 of the second organic pattern OP2 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA simultaneously. The second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 and the second layer 3202 of the second organic pattern OP2 may be formed of the same material as the spacer 285 of the display area DA simultaneously.

[0122] For another example, the first layer 3101 of the first organic pattern OP1 and the first layer 3102 of the second organic pattern OP2 may be formed of the same material as the planarization film 260 of the display area DA simultaneously. The second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 and the second layer 3202 of the second organic pattern OP2 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA simultaneously.

[0123] like Figure 5 and Figure 6 As shown, the first organic pattern OP1 may have an undercut structure in which the width of the second layer 3201 is wider than the width of the first layer 3101. Figure 5 and Figure 6 As shown, the second organic pattern OP2 may have an undercut structure in which the width of the second layer 3202 is wider than the width of the first layer 3102. That is, the first organic pattern OP1 and the second organic pattern OP2 may be undercut organic patterns in the same manner as the third organic pattern OP3.

[0124] Since the undercut structure of each of the first and second organic patterns OP1 and OP2 is substantially the same as the undercut structure of the third organic pattern OP3 , a detailed description thereof will be omitted.

[0125] In the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 are disposed even in the non-display area NDA as well as the display area DA. At this time, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 may be short-circuited by the first organic pattern OP1, the second organic pattern OP2, and the third organic pattern OP3.

[0126] In detail, Figure 5As shown, the non-display area NDA includes a first region A1 where the first, second and third organic patterns OP1, OP2 and OP3 are disposed and a second region A2 disposed between the first, second and third organic patterns OP1, OP2 and OP3.

[0127] The light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 disposed in the display area DA extend to the non-display area NDA. The light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 are disposed over the first, second, and third organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 in the non-display area NDA. Since each of the first, second, and third organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 has an undercut structure as described above, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 are short-circuited by the first, second, and third organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3.

[0128] That is, the light emitting layer 282a disposed in the first region A1 is not connected to the light emitting layer 282b disposed in the second region A2, and the light emitting layers 282a and 282b are spaced apart from each other. Therefore, even if water or oxygen enters the light emitting layer 282a disposed in the first region A1, water or oxygen can be prevented from propagating into the light emitting layer 282b disposed in the second region A2.

[0129] In addition, the second electrode 283a disposed in the first area A1 is not connected to the second electrode 283b disposed in the second area A2, and the second electrodes 283a and 283b are spaced apart from each other. Therefore, even if water or oxygen enters the second electrode 283a disposed in the first area A1, water or oxygen can be prevented from propagating into the second electrode 283b disposed in the second area A2.

[0130] Meanwhile, the second electrode 283b disposed in the second area A2 may be disposed to overlie the light emitting layer 282b disposed in the second area A2. In addition, the second electrode 283a disposed in the first area A1 may be disposed to overlie the light emitting layer 282a disposed in the first area A1.

[0131] The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may reduce exposure of the light emitting layer 282 b to water by allowing the second electrode 283 b made of a metal material to overly the light emitting layer 282 b made of an organic material susceptible to water.

[0132] In the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the adhesive layer 290 includes an adhesive resin 291 and a water-absorbing material 292, and thus can have an adhesive function and an encapsulation function. Therefore, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can reduce the thickness and width of its non-display area NDA because a separate encapsulation film is not provided.

[0133] The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes a plurality of organic patterns OP disposed in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of organic patterns OP may be arranged above the plurality of signal lines SL to prevent the plurality of signal lines SL from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0134] In addition, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure prevents water or oxygen from being transferred to the display area DA through the plurality of organic patterns OP by spacing the organic patterns OP apart from each other.

[0135] In this way, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can delay the penetration of water by providing a path for increasing the movement of the penetrated water to the display area DA after the organic material disposed in the non-display area NDA is patterned. Therefore, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can improve reliability.

[0136] In addition, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can reduce the distance from the end to the display area DA (i.e., the frame area). In addition, since the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure has a function of preventing water penetration through a plurality of organic patterns OP, the first substrate 111 and the second substrate 112 can be bonded to each other by a side sealing method. In this case, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can reduce the design margin for forming the adhesive layer 290 between the display areas DA at the end, and thus the frame area can be minimized.

[0137] Fig. 9 is a schematic plan view showing a display panel according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, Fig.10 is along Fig. 9 A schematic cross-sectional view taken along line III-III shown in FIG. Fig.11 It is shown Fig.10 A cross-sectional view of the first organic pattern and the third organic pattern shown in FIG. Fig.12 It is shown Fig.10 A cross-sectional view of a fourth organic pattern shown in FIG. Fig.13 It is shown Fig.10 2 is a cross-sectional view of a variation of the fourth organic pattern shown in FIG.

[0138] Figures 9 to 13 The display panel 110 shown is different from the Figures 3 to 8 The display panel 110 shown in FIG. In addition to the plurality of organic patterns OP, Figures 9 to 13 The display panel 110 is shown with Figures 3 to 8 The display panels 110 shown are substantially the same, so the description will be omitted. Figures 9 to 13 A detailed description of the display panel 110 is shown.

[0139] Reference Fig. 9 , a display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure includes a display area DA and a non-display area NDA. Pixels P displaying an image may be provided in the display area DA. The non-display area NDA may include a pad area PA. The pad area PA may be arranged at an edge above one side of the display panel 110. The pad area PA may include a plurality of pads, and the plurality of pads may be electrically connected to the wires of the flexible film 150 through an anisotropic conductive film.

[0140] In addition, a plurality of signal lines or a plurality of pads connected to the pixels P disposed in the display area DA are arranged in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of signal lines may provide signals, voltages, power, etc. for driving the pixels P to the pixels P. For example, the plurality of signal lines may include a power line for transmitting power provided through the pads to the pixels P. For example, the plurality of signal lines may include a gate driver for providing a gate signal to a gate line.

[0141] The display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure includes a plurality of organic patterns OP disposed in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of organic patterns OP may be disposed above the plurality of signal lines to prevent the plurality of signal lines from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0142] Reference Figures 10 to 13 A plurality of organic patterns OP are disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of organic patterns OP may include a first organic pattern OP1, a third organic pattern OP3, and a fourth organic pattern OP4 that are spaced apart from each other at predetermined intervals.

[0143] A third organic pattern OP3 is disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL. The third organic pattern OP3 prevents the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0144] Particles of various sizes may enter the inside of the display panel 110. At this time, a plurality of lines arranged inside the display panel 110 may be damaged by the particles entering the inside of the display panel 110. In particular, in the absence of an organic film for preventing the spread of water or oxygen, an inorganic film is provided only in the non-display area NDA.

[0145] In order to solve the above problem, in the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, a third organic pattern OP3 is disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA. The third organic pattern OP3 may be made of an organic material having a better impact absorption rate than that of an inorganic material to absorb the pressure applied to the particles. Therefore, the third organic pattern OP3 may reduce the pressure delivered to the plurality of signal lines SL. In addition, the third organic pattern OP3 may be disposed with a thickness sufficient to prevent the plurality of lines SL from being damaged by the particles even if pressure is applied to the particles.

[0146] The third organic pattern OP3 is disposed to be spaced apart from the organic film disposed in the display area DA. The display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may prevent water or oxygen from penetrating into the display area DA through the third organic pattern OP3 by spacing the third organic pattern OP3 from the organic film disposed in the display area DA.

[0147] like Figure 3 As shown, the third organic pattern OP3 is formed in a line shape surrounding the display area DA.

[0148] The third organic pattern OP3 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3103 and a second layer 3203, as shown in FIG. Fig.10 and Fig.11As shown. For example, the first layer 3103 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the planarization film 260 simultaneously with the planarization film 260 of the display area DA, and the second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 simultaneously with the bank 284 of the display area DA.

[0149] like Fig.10 and Fig.11 As shown, the third organic pattern OP3 may have an undercut structure in which the width of the second layer 3203 is wider than the width of the first layer 3103. That is, the third organic pattern OP3 may be an undercut organic pattern.

[0150] In detail, the first layer 3103 of the third organic pattern OP3 may have a forward tapered structure in which a width W1 of a lower surface is wider than a width W2 of an upper surface. The second layer 3203 of the third organic pattern OP3 may have an inverted tapered structure in which a width W2 of a lower surface is narrower than a width W3 of an upper surface. The lower surface of the second layer 3203 abuts against the upper surface of the first layer 3103, and thus the lower surface of the second layer 3203 has the same width as the width W2 of the upper surface of the first layer 3103. The third organic pattern OP3 may have an undercut structure in which a width W3 of an upper surface of the second layer 3203 is wider than a width W1 of a lower surface of the first layer 3103.

[0151] Although Fig.10 and Fig.11 It is shown that the third organic pattern OP3 has a two-layer structure, but the present disclosure is not limited to Fig.10 and Fig.11 In another embodiment, the third organic pattern OP3 may have a single-layer structure including only the second layer 3203. In this case, the third organic pattern OP3 may have an inverted tapered structure in which a width W2 of a lower surface is narrower than a width W3 of an upper surface.

[0152] In the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 are provided even in the non-display area NDA as well as the display area DA. At this time, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 may be short-circuited by the third organic pattern OP3.

[0153] In detail, the third organic pattern OP3 is disposed to be spaced apart from the organic film disposed in the display area DA, such as the planarization film 260, the bank 284, and the spacer 285.

[0154] In addition, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 are also disposed above the third organic pattern OP3 disposed in the non-display area NDA. Fig.11 Therefore, the light emitting layer 282 extending from the display area DA is arranged to be spaced apart from the light emitting layer 282 disposed over the third organic pattern OP3. The second electrode 283 extending from the display area DA is arranged to be spaced apart from the second electrode 283 disposed over the third organic pattern OP3.

[0155] Therefore, even if water or oxygen enters the light emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed above the third organic pattern OP3, the water or oxygen can be prevented from propagating through the light emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed above the third organic pattern OP3 to the light emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed in the display area DA.

[0156] The first organic pattern OP1 is disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL. The first organic pattern OP1 prevents the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0157] The first organic pattern OP1 may be made of an organic material having a better impact absorption rate than that of an inorganic material to absorb the pressure applied to the particles. Therefore, the first organic pattern OP1 may reduce the pressure delivered to the plurality of signal lines SL. In addition, the first organic pattern OP1 may be set to a thickness sufficient to prevent the plurality of lines SL from being damaged by the particles even if pressure is applied to the particles.

[0158] The first organic pattern OP1 is spaced apart from the third organic pattern OP3, and thus, as shown in FIG. Fig. 9 As shown, the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed in a line shape surrounding the third organic pattern OP3 . The first organic pattern OP1 may be an outermost organic pattern arranged adjacent to an end portion of the first substrate 111 .

[0159] The first organic pattern OP1 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3101 and a second layer 3201, such as Fig.10 and Fig.11 In this case, each of the first layer 3101 and the second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as any one of the planarization film 260 , the bank 284 , and the spacer 285 of the display area DA.

[0160] For example, the first layer 3101 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA. The second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as the spacer 285 of the display area DA.

[0161] For another example, the first layer 3101 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as the planarization film 260 of the display area DA. The second layer 3201 of the first organic pattern OP1 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA.

[0162] like Fig.10 and Fig.11 As shown, the first organic pattern OP1 may have an undercut structure in which the width of the second layer 3201 is wider than the width of the first layer 3101. The first organic pattern OP1 may be an undercut organic pattern in the same manner as the third organic pattern OP3.

[0163] Since the undercut structure of the first organic pattern OP1 is substantially the same as the third organic pattern OP3 , a detailed description of the first organic pattern OP1 will be omitted.

[0164] In the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 are provided even in the non-display area NDA as well as the display area DA. Fig.11 The first organic pattern OP1 of the undercut structure is shown to be short-circuited.

[0165] Therefore, the light emitting layer 282a disposed over the first organic pattern OP1 is arranged to be spaced apart from the light emitting layer 282c disposed between the end of the first substrate 111 and the first organic pattern OP1. The light emitting layer 282a disposed over the first organic pattern OP1 is arranged to be spaced apart from the light emitting layer 282b disposed between the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3.

[0166] In addition, the second electrode 283a disposed over the first organic pattern OP1 is arranged to be spaced apart from the second electrode 283c disposed between the end of the first substrate 111 and the first organic pattern OP1. The second electrode 283a disposed over the first organic pattern OP1 is arranged to be spaced apart from the second electrode 283b disposed between the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3.

[0167] Therefore, water or oxygen entering the light emitting layer 282c or the second electrode 283c disposed between the end of the first substrate 111 and the first organic pattern OP1 can be prevented from being propagated into the light emitting layer 282a or the second electrode 283a disposed in the first organic pattern OP1. In addition, even if water or oxygen enters the light emitting layer 282a or the second electrode 283a disposed above the first organic pattern OP1, water or oxygen can be prevented from being propagated into the light emitting layer 282 or the second electrode 283 disposed in the display area DA through the light emitting layer 282a or the second electrode 283a disposed above the first organic pattern OP1.

[0168] The fourth organic pattern OP4 is disposed above the plurality of signal lines SL and between the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3 . The fourth organic pattern OP4 prevents the plurality of signal lines SL of the non-display area NDA from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110 .

[0169] Like the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be made of an organic material having a better impact absorption rate than that of an inorganic material to absorb the pressure applied to the particles. Therefore, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may reduce the pressure delivered to the plurality of signal lines SL. In addition, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed with a thickness sufficient to prevent the plurality of lines SL from being damaged by the particles even if pressure is applied to the particles.

[0170] The fourth organic pattern OP4 is spaced apart from each of the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3 between the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3. Fig. 9As shown, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may have, but is not limited to, a polygonal shape. The fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a line shape in the same manner as the first and third organic patterns OP1 and OP3, or the fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a circular shape.

[0171] In addition, the plurality of fourth organic patterns OP4 may be Fig. 9 The fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a line shape.

[0172] The fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a two-layer structure including a first layer 3104 and a second layer 3204, such as Fig.10 and 12 In this case, each of the first layer 3104 and the second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed of the same material as any one of the planarization film 260 , the bank 284 , and the spacer 285 of the display area DA.

[0173] For example, the first layer 3104 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA. The second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed of the same material as the spacer 285 of the display area DA.

[0174] For another example, the first layer 3104 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed of the same material as the planarization film 260 of the display area DA. The second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be formed of the same material as the bank 284 of the display area DA.

[0175] like Fig.10 and Fig.12 As shown, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a stacked structure in which the width of the second layer 3204 is narrower than the width of the first layer 3104. Unlike the first and third organic patterns OP1 and OP3, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be a stacked organic pattern.

[0176] In detail, the first layer 3104 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a forward tapered structure in which a width W4 of the lower surface is wider than a width W5 of the upper surface. The second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a forward tapered structure in which a width W5 of the lower surface is wider than a width W6 of the upper surface. The lower surface of the second layer 3204 is adjacent to the upper surface of the first layer 3104, and thus the lower surface of the second layer 3204 has the same width as the width W5 of the upper surface of the first layer 3104.

[0177] Although Fig.10 and Fig.12 The first layer 3104 and the second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 are respectively arranged to be patterned, but the present disclosure is not limited thereto. In another embodiment, the fourth organic pattern OP4 may include a plurality of second patterns 3204 arranged above the first layer 3104, such as Fig.13 shown.

[0178] In the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 of the light emitting diode 280 are disposed even in the non-display area NDA and the display area DA. At this time, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 disposed in the non-display area NDA are continuously disposed over the fourth organic pattern OP4. Fig.12 As shown, both the first layer 3104 and the second layer 3204 of the fourth organic pattern OP4 have a forward tapered structure. Therefore, the light emitting layer 282 and the second electrode 283 may be continuously disposed over the fourth organic pattern OP4 without being disconnected.

[0179] The display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure is different from the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure in that some of the plurality of organic patterns OP have an undercut structure. In the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the fourth organic pattern OP4 having a simple stacking structure is disposed between the first organic pattern OP1 and the third organic pattern OP3, so that the adhesion between the first substrate 111 and the second substrate 112 can be better improved.

[0180] In the display panel 110 according to the present disclosure, the contact area with the adhesive layer 290 may be improved by the organic pattern OP to improve the adhesiveness. Figure 5 and Fig.10 Since the upper surfaces of the organic patterns OP1, OP2, and OP3 having the undercut structure have a width wider than that of the lower surfaces, the adhesive layer 290 may not be disposed under the upper surfaces, and the air gap AG may be generated.

[0181] On the other hand, referring to Fig.10 Since the upper surface of the fourth organic pattern OP4 having a simple stack structure has a narrower width than the lower surface, the adhesive layer 290 is completely disposed over the upper surface. That is, an air gap AG where the adhesive layer 209 is not disposed is not generated in the fourth organic pattern OP4.

[0182] In the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the organic pattern OP4 having a simple stack structure is disposed between the organic pattern OP1 and the organic pattern OP3 having an undercut structure, so that adhesion may be better improved.

[0183] Meanwhile, in the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the first organic pattern OP1, the third organic pattern OP3, and the fourth organic pattern OP4 are spaced apart from each other. Therefore, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water entering the first organic pattern OP1 from being infiltrated into the fourth organic pattern OP4. In addition, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water or oxygen entering the fourth organic pattern OP4 from being infiltrated into the third organic pattern OP3. Therefore, although the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4 are provided in the non-display area NDA, the display panel 110 according to one embodiment of the present disclosure can prevent water from propagating through the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4.

[0184] Meanwhile, the spacing distances S3, S4, and S5 between the first organic pattern OP1, the third organic pattern OP3, and the fourth organic pattern OP4 may vary depending on the thickness of the adhesive layer 290. In this case, the spacing distances S3, S4, and S5 may indicate the distances between the upper surface of the organic pattern OP1, the upper surface of the organic pattern OP3, and the upper surface of the organic pattern OP4. For example, the spacing distance S3 may indicate the distance between one end of the upper surface of the first organic pattern OP1 and one end of the upper surface of the fourth organic pattern OP4. At this time, one end of the upper surface of the fourth organic pattern OP4 is an edge facing one end of the upper surface of the first organic pattern OP1.

[0185] In detail, the spacing distances S3, S4 and S5 between the first, third and fourth organic patterns OP1, OP3 and OP4 are shorter than the distance S2 from the upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed over the organic patterns OP1, OP3 and OP4 to the upper surface of the adhesive layer 290.

[0186] The spacing distances S3, S4, and S5 between the first organic pattern OP1, the third organic pattern OP3, and the fourth organic pattern OP4 may be equal to or different from each other. The first organic pattern OP1 may have a first spacing distance S3 from the fourth organic pattern OP4 arranged adjacent to the first organic pattern OP1. The fourth organic pattern OP4 may have a second spacing distance S4. The third organic pattern OP3 may have a third spacing distance S5 from the fourth organic pattern OP4 arranged adjacent to the third organic pattern OP3. The first distance S3, the second distance S4, and the third distance S5 may be equal to or different from each other. Even in the case where the spacing distances are different from each other, the first distance S3, the second distance S4, and the third distance S5 should be shorter than the distance S2 from the upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed above the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4 to the upper surface of the adhesive layer 290.

[0187] Particles of various sizes may enter the interior of the display panel 110. If pressure is applied to first particles P1 that are large in size, the first particles may reach the plurality of signal lines SL by passing through the adhesive layer 290. On the other hand, even if pressure is applied to smaller second particles, the second particles cannot pass through the adhesive layer 290 and thus cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL.

[0188] The display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure may prevent first particles large in size from reaching the plurality of signal lines SL by controlling the spacing distances S3 , S4 , and S5 between the first to fourth organic patterns OP1 , OP3 , and OP4 .

[0189] To this end, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure may be configured to allow the spacing distances S3, S4, and S5 between the first organic pattern OP1, the third organic pattern OP3, and the fourth organic pattern OP4 to be shorter than the distance S2 from the upper surface of the second electrode 283 disposed above the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4 to the upper surface of the adhesive layer 290.

[0190] The first particles having a diameter greater than the spacing distances S3 , S4 , and S5 between the first, third, and fourth organic patterns OP1 , OP3 , and OP4 fail to enter the regions between the organic patterns OP1 , OP3 , and OP4 .

[0191] The first particles cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL above the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4 due to the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4. In addition, since the first particles have a diameter greater than the spacing distances S3, S4, and S5 between the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4, the first particles fail to enter the region between the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4. Therefore, the first particles cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL between the organic patterns OP1, OP3, and OP4.

[0192] Therefore, since the first particles that are large in size cannot reach the plurality of signal lines SL by passing through the adhesive layer 290 , the plurality of signal lines SL may be prevented from being damaged.

[0193] In the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the adhesive layer 290 includes an adhesive resin 291 and a water-absorbing material 292, and thus the adhesive layer 290 may have an adhesive function and an encapsulation function. Therefore, since a separate encapsulation film is not provided, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure may reduce the thickness of the display panel 110 and the width of the non-display area NDA.

[0194] In addition, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure includes a plurality of organic patterns OP disposed in the non-display area NDA. The plurality of organic patterns OP may be arranged above the plurality of signal lines SL to prevent the plurality of signal lines SL from being damaged by particles entering the inside of the display panel 110.

[0195] In addition, the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure prevents water or oxygen from being transferred to the display area DA through the plurality of organic patterns OP by spacing the organic patterns OP apart from each other.

[0196] In addition, in the display panel 110 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the organic pattern OP4 having the simple stack structure is disposed between the organic pattern OP1 and the organic pattern OP3 having the undercut structure, so that the adhesiveness may be better improved.

[0197] It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the above disclosure is not limited by the above embodiments and drawings, and that various substitutions, modifications and variations may be made in the disclosure without departing from the spirit or scope of the disclosure.
