Description

Technical Field

[0001] This specification relates to organic light emitting devices.

[0002] This application claims priority to and the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2018-0148350 filed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office on November 27, 2018, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Background Art

[0003] Generally, the organic light-emitting phenomenon refers to a phenomenon in which electrical energy is converted into light energy by using organic materials. An organic light-emitting device utilizing the organic light-emitting phenomenon generally has a structure including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an organic material layer interposed therebetween. Here, in many cases the organic material layer may have a multilayer structure composed of different materials to improve the efficiency and stability of the organic light-emitting device, and for example, the organic material layer may be composed of a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, a light-emitting layer, an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, and the like. In the structure of such an organic light-emitting device, if a voltage is applied between the two electrodes, holes are injected into the organic material layer from the positive electrode and electrons are injected into the organic material layer from the negative electrode, and when the injected holes and electrons meet each other, excitons are formed, and light is emitted when the excitons fall back to the ground state again.

[0004] There is a continuing need to develop new materials for the aforementioned organic light-emitting devices.

[0059] Hereinafter, the present specification will be described in more detail. However, the following description relates to exemplary embodiments of the present invention and includes all alternative ranges within the scope of equivalents.

[0060] First, some terms of this specification will be clarified.

[0061] In the present specification, when a part “includes” a constituent element, unless otherwise specifically described, this does not mean that other constituent elements are excluded but means that other constituent elements may further be included.

[0063] In the present specification, Cn1-Cn2 refers to n1 to n2 carbon atoms.

[0064] In this specification, Dn means n deuterium.

[0065] Examples of the substituent in the present specification will be described below, but are not limited thereto.

[0066] The term "substituted" means that a hydrogen atom bonded to a carbon atom of a compound is changed to another substituent, and the position of substitution is not limited as long as the position is a position where a hydrogen atom is substituted (i.e., a position where a substituent can be substituted), and when two or more are substituted, the two or more substituents may be the same or different from each other.

[0067] In this specification, the term "substituted or unsubstituted" means substituted with one or two or more substituents selected from the following: deuterium; halogen group; nitrile group; alkyl group; haloalkyl group; alkoxy group; haloalkoxy group; cycloalkyl group; silyl group; alkenyl group; amine group; arylamine group; aryl group; and heterocyclic group containing one or more of N, O, S, Se and Si atoms, substituted with substituents connected by two or more substituents among the substituents exemplified above, or without substituents. For example, "substituents connected by two or more substituents" can be biphenyl. That is, biphenyl can also be aryl, and can be interpreted as substituents connected by two phenyl groups.

[0068] In this specification, the fact that two or more substituents are linked means that the hydrogen of any substituent is replaced by another substituent. For example, isopropyl and phenyl can be linked to each other to form substituent.

[0069] In the present specification, the case where three substituents are connected to each other includes not only the case where (substituent 1)-(substituent 2)-(substituent 3) are connected to each other in sequence, but also the case where (substituent 2) and (substituent 3) are connected to (substituent 1). For example, two phenyl groups and one isopropyl group may be connected to each other to form The above also applies to the case where four or more substituents are linked to each other.

[0086] In the present specification, an arylene group means a group having two bonding positions in an aryl group, that is, a divalent group. The above description of the aryl group can be applied to the arylene group, except that the arylene group is divalent.

[0087] In the present specification, the heteroarylene group means a group having two bonding positions in the heteroaryl group, that is, a divalent group. The above description of the heteroaryl group can be applied to the heteroarylene group, except that the heteroarylene group is divalent.

[0088] In this specification, an "adjacent" group may mean a substituent that replaces an atom directly connected to the atom replaced by the corresponding substituent, a substituent that is placed closest to the corresponding substituent in space, or another substituent that replaces the atom replaced by the corresponding substituent. For example, two substituents substituted at the ortho position of a benzene ring and two substituents that replace the same carbon in an aliphatic ring can be interpreted as groups that are "adjacent" to each other.

[0089] In the present specification, in a substituted or unsubstituted ring formed by bonding adjacent groups, "ring" means a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon ring; or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring.

[0090] In the present specification, the hydrocarbon ring may be an aromatic ring, an aliphatic ring, or a condensed ring of an aromatic ring and an aliphatic ring, and may be selected from examples of cycloalkyl or aryl groups, except that the hydrocarbon ring is not monovalent. Examples of condensed rings of aromatic rings and aliphatic rings include 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene, 2,3-dihydro-1H-indene, etc., but are not limited thereto.

[0091] In the present specification, the aromatic ring may be monocyclic or polycyclic, and may be selected from examples of the aryl group, except that the aromatic ring is not monovalent.

[0092] In the present specification, the heterocycle contains one or more atoms other than carbon, i.e., one or more heteroatoms, and specifically, the heteroatoms may include one or more atoms selected from O, N, S, Si, etc. The heterocycle may be monocyclic or polycyclic, may be an aromatic ring, an aliphatic ring, or a condensed ring of an aromatic ring and an aliphatic ring, and may be selected from the examples of the heteroaryl group, except that the heterocycle is not monovalent.

[0093] In Formula 1 and Formula 2 of the present specification, even when the substituent to be substituted is not specified, the heterocyclic ring includes those substituted with deuterium.

[0094] Hereinafter, an organic light emitting device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present specification and a compound included therein will be described.

[0095] The present specification provides an organic light-emitting device, which includes: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; and a first organic material layer and a second organic material layer arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, wherein the first organic material layer contains a compound represented by Formula 1, and the second organic material layer contains a compound represented by Formula 2.

[0096] The compound represented by Formula 1 contains deuterium. When hydrogen is replaced by deuterium, the chemical properties of the compound rarely change. However, since the atomic weight of deuterium is twice that of hydrogen, the physical properties of the deuterated compound may change. As an example, the deuterium-substituted compound has a lower level of vibration energy. The deuterium-substituted compound can prevent the reduction of quantum efficiency caused by the reduction of intermolecular van der Waals forces or collisions caused by intermolecular vibrations. In addition, the CD bond can improve the stability of the compound. Therefore, the compound represented by Formula 1 can contain deuterium to improve the efficiency and service life of the device.

[0097] In this specification, "deuterated" means that hydrogen is replaced by deuterium. An N% deuterated compound or group means that N% of the available hydrogens are replaced by deuterium. The fact that N% of the hydrogens of any group are replaced by deuterium means that N% of the total number of replaceable hydrogens, except for the position where the substituent is attached to the core structure, is replaced by deuterium (D). For example, the fact that 20% of the hydrogens of a phenyl group are replaced by deuterium means that one hydrogen (which is 20% of the 5 replaceable hydrogens of the phenyl group) is replaced by deuterium (D). The fact that 33% of the hydrogens of a biphenyl group are replaced by deuterium means that 33% of the hydrogens of the biphenyl group are replaced by 3 deuteriums.

[0098] In an exemplary embodiment of the present specification, the deuterated compound can be prepared by a known deuterated reaction. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present specification, the compound represented by Formula 1 can be formed using a deuterated compound as a precursor, or deuterium can also be introduced into the compound via a hydrogen-deuterium exchange reaction using a deuterated solvent in the presence of an acid catalyst.

[0099] In this specification, the degree of deuteration can be determined by known methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H NMR) or GC / MS.

[0100] The compound represented by Formula 2 has a structure in which a heterocycle containing one or more N is connected to a spirocyclic ring containing O or S. Due to the spirocyclic ring containing O or S, the compound is sterically hindered. Steric hindrance can stably form the layer by preventing crystallization during the formation of the film and improving thermal stability, even at a high deposition temperature. In an exemplary embodiment, when the compound represented by Formula 2 is used in the organic material layer, due to high thermal stability and processability, the effect of improving the service life of the device can be expected. In addition, since the compound has a heterocycle containing one or more N as a substituent, high efficiency of the device can be expected.

[0101] In the compound represented by Formula 2, the structure is not a symmetrical structure (i.e., a structure in which R21 and R22; or R23 and R24 simultaneously have the structure of Formula 3). That is, the compound asymmetrically has the structure of Formula 3. In this case, due to the asymmetric structure of Formula 2, the dipole moment of the molecule is improved. Therefore, when the compound included as Formula 2 is included in an organic material layer (e.g., an electron transport layer) between the negative electrode and the light-emitting layer, the injection rate of electrons into the light-emitting layer increases, so that the driving voltage of the organic light-emitting device can be reduced. In addition, due to the asymmetric structure, the crystallinity in the solution state is reduced, so that when the organic material layer is formed, an economic effect can be expected in terms of time and / or cost.

[0102] The compound represented by Formula 2 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present specification has a dipole moment value of 0.6 Debye or more. The aforementioned dipole moment value may be derived from structural characteristics.

[0103] The dipole moment in this specification is a physical quantity indicating the degree of polarity and can be calculated by the following Equation 1.

[0104] [Equation 1]

[0105]

[0106] ρ(r0): molecular density

[0107] V: Volume

[0108] ■r: Observation point

[0109] ■d 3 r0: volume element

[0110] The dipole moment value can be obtained by calculating the molecular density in equation 1. For example, the molecular density can be obtained by obtaining the charge and dipole of each atom using a method called Hirshfeld charge analysis and then calculating the value according to the following equation.

[0111] Weight function

[0112]

[0113] ■ α (rR α ): spherical average ground state atomic density

[0114] ■∑ β ρ β (rR β ): Excimer density

[0115] Deformation density

[0116]

[0117] ρ(r): molecular density

[0118] ■ α (r α ): located at coordinate R α The density of free atoms α at

[0119] Atomic charge

[0120] q(α)=-∫ρ d (r)W α (r)d 3 r

[0121] ■W α (r): weight function

[0122] As described above, the compound of Formula 2 is a substance having an excellent electron injection effect due to an asymmetric structure. When the compound of Formula 1 is used as the host of the light-emitting layer, the ability to receive electrons is excellent, so that the stability is improved. Therefore, the organic light-emitting device including the compound of Formula 1 and the compound of Formula 2 has excellent efficiency and service life.

[0123] In an exemplary embodiment of the present specification, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 40% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 50% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 60% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 70% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 80% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is at least 90% deuterated. In an exemplary embodiment, the compound represented by Formula 1 is 100% deuterated.

A product manufactured by Fischer Co. was used as a cleaning agent, and distilled water filtered twice using a filter manufactured by Millipore Co. was used as distilled water. After the ITO was washed for 30 minutes, ultrasonic cleaning was repeated twice for 10 minutes using distilled water. After the washing with distilled water was completed, ultrasonic cleaning was performed in this order using isopropyl alcohol, acetone and methanol solvents, and then dried.

[0885] Hexanitrile hexaazatriphenylene (HAT-CN) was thermally vacuum deposited on the transparent ITO electrode thus prepared, thereby forming a hole injection layer with a thickness of 50 nm.

[0886] Compound HT1 as a material for transporting holes was vacuum-deposited on the hole injection layer, thereby forming a hole transport layer having a thickness of 40 nm.

[0887] Compound 1-1 and compound D1 were vacuum deposited on the hole transport layer at a weight ratio of 25:1 to form a light emitting layer having a thickness of 30 nm.

[0888] Compound ET1 was vacuum-deposited on the light-emitting layer to form an electron regulating layer with a thickness of 3 nm.

[0890] The organic light emitting device was manufactured by forming a negative electrode by sequentially depositing lithium fluoride (LiF) and aluminum to have thicknesses of 1.2 nm and 200 nm, respectively, on the electron injection and transport layer.

[0891] In the aforementioned process, the deposition rate of the organic material was maintained at 0.04 nm / sec to 0.07 nm / sec, the deposition rates of lithium fluoride and aluminum were maintained at 0.03 nm / sec and 0.2 nm / sec, respectively, and the vacuum degree during deposition was maintained at 2×10 -7 Up to 5×10 -6 Entrust.

[0892]

[0893] <Examples 1-2 to 1-12 and 2-1 to 2-12>

[0894] An organic light-emitting device was manufactured in the same manner as in Example 1-1, except that the compounds of the following Table 1 were used instead of Compound 1-1 and Compound 2-1.

[0895]

[0896]

[0897] <Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-5 and 2-1 to 2-7>

[0898] An organic light-emitting device was manufactured in the same manner as in Example 1-1, except that the compounds of the following Table 1 were used instead of Compound 1-1 and Compound 2-1.

[0899]

[0900] For each organic light-emitting device of the embodiment and the comparative example, at 10 mA / cm 2 The driving voltage and luminous efficiency were measured at a current density of 20 mA / cm 2 The time (LT98) for the luminance to reach a value of 98% compared to the initial luminance was measured at a current density of 1.5 Å. The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2 below.

[0901] [Table 1]

[0902]

[0903] As determined from Table 1, when the compound of Formula 2 having high efficiency characteristics and the compound of Formula 1 having low voltage and long lifespan characteristics due to deuterium substitution are used together, the insufficient characteristics of the compound of Formula 1 and the compound of Formula 2 complement each other, thereby realizing a better device.

[0904] [Table 2]

[0905]

[0906]

[0907] As shown in Table 1 above, the insufficient characteristics of the compound of Formula 1 and the compound of Formula 2 complement each other as determined by Table 2, so that a better device can be realized. In particular, the comparative example compound HE has the same structure as that of Formula 1, but it can be seen that the deuterium substitution rate is less than 40%, and the service life characteristics are deteriorated compared with the service life characteristics of the device of the present invention.

[0908] In addition, it can be seen that compounds 1-2, 1-4, 1-5, 1-9 to 1-11, 1-13 and 1-14 of Table 2 contain a heteroaryl group (dibenzofuranyl, naphthiobenzofuranyl, or dibenzothiophenyl) as Ar101 or Ar102, and the long service life characteristics are further improved compared with the service life characteristics of the compounds containing only aromatic groups.
