[0004] Patent Document 1: Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2019-125545 Summary of the invention Problems to be solved by the invention

[0005] However, in the above-mentioned connector, since the wire storage portion protrudes to the rear of the front end of the cover portion that is already engaged between the engagement tube portion and the main body portion of the housing, it is easy to make the overall center of gravity of the connector and the mating connector be located behind the connector, and the displacement of the rear end of the connector becomes larger during resonance. That is, in the engaged state, if the portion of the housing that is not engaged with the cover portion of the mating connector is large, this portion becomes easy to displace during resonance. On the other hand, the portion of the housing that is engaged with the cover portion of the mating connector is easy to integrate with the vibration of the mating connector and is therefore easy to suppress displacement even during resonance. As described above, there is room for further improvement in order to improve the vibration resistance of the connector. Solutions for solving problems

[0009] [Description of Embodiments of the Present Disclosure] First, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described by way of examples. (1) A connector unit disclosed in the present invention comprises a mating connector and a connector, the mating connector having a mating housing, the connector having a housing that can be externally fitted into the mating housing, the mating surface of the mating housing facing the mating surface of the housing when the mating housing and the housing are fitted, and the mating surface sides of each other are defined as front sides, the mating housing having a mating cover portion that is open forward, the housing having a cover portion that can be externally fitted into the mating cover portion, a tower portion that can be internally fitted into the mating cover portion, and a connecting portion that connects the rear end of the cover portion and the rear end of the tower portion, the tower portion being configured to protrude further forward than the front end of the cover portion, the housing having a terminal receiving portion that receives terminals therein, and a wire receiving portion that is connected to the rear side of the terminal receiving portion and receives wires connected to the terminals therein, the mating cover portion being arranged to surround the outer periphery of the wire receiving portion when the mating housing and the housing are fitted together, and the front end of the mating cover portion is located at the rear end portion of the housing.

[0010] According to the connector unit, since the terminal receiving portion is in a form that protrudes forward of the front end of the cover portion, and the front end of the cover portion on the other side is located at the rear end of the housing, the center of gravity of the entire connector unit can be located further forward than in the prior art. Thus, compared with the connector unit of the prior art, the displacement of the entire connector unit during resonance can be better suppressed.

[0011] In addition, in the conventional connector, in the mating state, the size of the portion of the housing that protrudes to the rear of the front end of the mating side cover is the size obtained by adding the plate thickness of the connecting portion to the length of the wire receiving portion in the front-rear direction, so the displacement amount of the rear end of the connector becomes large during resonance. In contrast, in the above connector, since the mating side cover is arranged to surround the outer periphery of the wire receiving portion, in the mating state, the size of the portion of the housing that protrudes to the rear of the front end of the mating side cover is only the plate thickness of the connecting portion, so the amount of rearward protrusion can be suppressed, and the displacement amount of the rear end of the connector during resonance can be suppressed from becoming large.

[0012] (2) It is preferred that the cover portion is formed in a cylindrical shape that opens forward, and that a thickened portion that increases in thickness toward the radially outer side is provided at an opening edge of the cover portion. Since the thickened portion is provided at the opening edge of the cover portion, the center of gravity of the entire connector unit can be positioned further forward.

[0013] (3) It is preferred that the thickened portion include a grip portion that becomes thicker toward the front. Since the thickened portion has a grip portion, when the connector is mated with the other connector, the fingers can easily touch the grip portion, and the thickened portion can be used as an operating portion during mating. In addition, compared with the case where the grip portion is arranged at the rear end of the housing, the center of gravity of the entire connector unit can be located forward, so that the vibration resistance can be further improved.

[0014] [Details of the embodiments of the present disclosure] Specific examples of the connector unit of the present disclosure are described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the present disclosure is not limited to these examples, but is shown by the claims, and is intended to include all modifications within the equivalent meaning and scope of the claims.

[0015] [Implementation Method] Regarding the embodiments of the present disclosure, refer to Figures 1 to 7 The connector unit 100 of the present embodiment includes a mating connector 50 and a connector 10, wherein the mating connector 50 includes a mating housing 60, and the connector 10 includes a housing 20 that can be fitted into the mating housing 60. In the following description, the direction indicated by the arrow line Z is the up-down direction, the direction indicated by the arrow line X is the front-back direction, and the direction indicated by the arrow line Y is the left-right direction.

[0016] like Figure 2 As shown in FIG. 1 , the connector 10 of the present embodiment includes a housing 20 and a rubber plug 30. The connector 10 can be mated with a mating connector 50. Here, when the mating housing 60 and the housing 20 are mated, the mating surface 60A of the mating housing 60 and the mating surface 20A of the housing 20 are opposed to each other in the front-back direction, and the mating surfaces 20A and 60A sides are defined as the front side. In addition, for a plurality of identical components, sometimes only some of the components are marked with symbols and the symbols of the other components are omitted.

[0017] [Mate side connector] The counterpart connector 50 includes a counterpart housing 60 and counterpart terminals 51. The counterpart housing 60 is made of an insulating synthetic resin such as Figure 3 As shown, it has a plate-shaped main body 61, a front side tube 62 extending forward from the periphery of the main body 61, and a rear side tube 63 extending rearward from the periphery of the main body 61. The front side tube 62 is in the shape of a cylindrical cover and is open to the front, and the inner side wall of the front side tube 62 is composed of the main body 61. The rear side tube 63 is in the shape of a cylindrical cover and is open to the rear, and the inner side wall of the rear side tube 63 is composed of the main body 61.

[0018] like Figure 2As shown, the front side cylinder 62, the main body 61 and the rear side cylinder 63 are arranged continuously in this order. The outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62, the outer peripheral surface 61A of the main body 61 and the outer peripheral surface 63A of the rear side cylinder 63 are coplanar and continuous. A lock receiving portion 64 is provided on the outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62. A pair of protective walls 65 are provided on the left and right sides of the lock receiving portion 64 of the outer peripheral surface 62A of the front side cylinder 62. A pair of flange portions 66 extending in the left and right directions are provided at the rear end of the rear side cylinder 63.

[0019] The other terminal 51 is made of metal, such as Figure 3 and Figure 4 As shown, it is a male terminal in the shape of a protruding piece. The other terminal 51 is formed into a predetermined shape by known methods such as stamping, cutting, and casting. The metal constituting the other terminal 51 can be appropriately selected from any metal such as copper, copper alloy, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. as needed. A plating layer can also be formed on the surface of the other terminal 51, and the material constituting the plating layer can be appropriately selected from any metal such as tin, nickel, silver, etc. as needed.

[0020] like Figure 3 As shown, the counterpart terminal 51 is held by the main body 61 in such a manner that it penetrates the main body 61 of the counterpart housing 60 in the front-to-back direction. The portion of the counterpart terminal 51 corresponding to the front barrel 62 protrudes from the main body 61 to about one-third of the total length of the front barrel 62 in the front-to-back direction. Although not shown in the figure, the portion of the counterpart terminal 51 corresponding to the rear barrel 63 protrudes from the main body 61 to the rear of the opening edge of the rear barrel 63.

[0021] [Connectors] The connector 10 includes a housing 20, a terminal 11, and a rubber plug 30. The housing 20 is made of an insulating synthetic resin such as Figure 3 As shown, it comprises a plate-shaped connection portion 21, a cover portion 22 extending forward from the periphery of the connection portion 21, a tower portion 23 extending forward from the connection portion 21 inside the cover portion 22, and a locking arm 25 provided on the upper surface of the connection portion 21. The connection portion 21 connects the rear end of the cover portion 22 and the rear end of the tower portion 23. The cover portion 22 is externally fitted to the front side cylinder portion 62 of the other side housing 60, and the tower portion 23 is internally fitted to the front side cylinder portion 62 of the other side housing 60.

[0022] The terminal 11 is made of metal and is a female terminal in the shape of a square tube. The terminal 11 is formed into a predetermined shape by known methods such as stamping, cutting, and casting. The metal constituting the terminal 11 can be selected from any metal such as copper, copper alloy, aluminum, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc. as needed. A plating layer can also be formed on the surface of the terminal 11, and the metal constituting the plating layer can be selected from any metal such as tin, nickel, silver, etc. as needed.

[0023] like Figure 2 As shown in FIG. 1 , the cover 22 is in the shape of a cylindrical cover and is open to the front. The inner wall of the cover 22 is formed by the connecting portion 21. The portion of the cover 22 corresponding to the locking arm 25 bulges upward, leaving the front end portion to form a notch, and the bulging portion accommodates the entire locking arm 25. Therefore, the cover 22 has a pair of protective walls 22A provided on the left and right sides of the locking arm 25. When the connector 10 is engaged with the other side connector 50, as shown in FIG. Figure 1 As shown, the pair of protection walls 65 of the counterpart housing 60 can be housed inside the pair of protection walls 22A of the cover portion 22 .

[0024] like Figure 5 As shown, the tower portion 23 is substantially square and long in the left-right direction in front view. The tower portion 23 has at least one pair (three in the present disclosure) of cavities 23A opened in the front-rear direction and a partition wall 23B partitioning an adjacent pair of cavities 23A.

[0025] The tower 23 includes a terminal receiving portion 26 for receiving the terminal 11 therein and a wire receiving portion 24 connected to the rear side of the terminal receiving portion 26 and for receiving the wire 12 connected to the terminal 11 therein. The cavity 23A and the partition wall 23B are provided from the front end of the terminal receiving portion 26 to the rear end of the wire receiving portion 24.

[0026] like Figure 3 As shown, the wire storage part 24 stores the wire 12 connected to the terminal 11 and the rubber plug 13 embedded in the wire 12. The wire 12 is a known structure in which a conductive single core wire or a core wire composed of a metal thin wire is surrounded by an insulating coating. The rubber plug 13 is sandwiched between the insulating coating of the wire 12 and the inner peripheral surface of the wire storage part 24 to achieve waterproofing of the cavity 23A of the tower part 23.

[0027] A lance 26A is formed on the bottom wall of the terminal receiving portion 26. The lance 26A is in the shape of a cantilever beam extending forward. When the terminal 11 is inserted into the cavity 23A from the rear, the lance 26A is deformed downward, and when the terminal 11 is inserted into the normal position in the terminal receiving portion 26, the lance 26A returns to its original shape and is locked to the terminal 11. Thus, the terminal 11 is held by the terminal receiving portion 26 in the cavity 23A.

[0028] like Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , the lock arm 25 includes a pair of base end portions 25A connected to the pair of protection walls 22A, an arm portion 25B swingable around the pair of base end portions 25A, a lock stop portion 25C formed at the front end portion of the arm portion 25B, and a release operation portion 25D formed at the rear end portion of the arm portion 25B. The arm portion 25B is connected to the pair of base end portions 25A at a position closer to the rear end than the center thereof.

[0029] When the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 are mated, the arm 25B is elastically swung by the locking stopper 25C stepping over the locking receiving portion 64. When the locking stopper 25C passes over the locking receiving portion 64, the arm 25B elastically recovers and the locking stopper 25C is locked to the locking receiving portion 64. Thus, the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 are kept in the mating state.

[0030] When the release operation portion 25D is pressed downward, the front end of the arm portion 25B is swung upward to release the locking of the lock locking portion 25C and the lock receiving portion 64. In the released state, the connector 10 and the mating connector 50 can be separated by pulling them apart.

[0031] [Rubber plug] The rubber plug 30 is an elastic member made of synthetic rubber, natural rubber, etc. Figure 2 As shown in FIG. 1 , the rubber plug 30 is formed into a square ring with rounded corners. The rubber plug 30 includes a cylindrical waterproof portion 32 and a cylindrical anti-vibration portion 33 extending forward from the waterproof portion 32. Figure 3 As shown, the waterproof portion 32 is externally fitted to the wire receiving portion 24 of the tower portion 23 , and the anti-vibration portion 33 is externally fitted to the terminal receiving portion 26 of the tower portion 23 .

[0032] The waterproof portion 32 has a lip portion 31 formed without a gap along the circumference of the waterproof portion 32. Figure 3 As shown, a plurality of lips 31 (two in the present disclosure) are arranged side by side in the front-to-back direction. Figure 3 As shown, the lip portion 31 has a portion protruding radially outward from the outer circumference of the waterproof portion 32 and a portion protruding radially inward from the inner circumference of the waterproof portion 32. When the tower portion 23 is fitted into the front side cylinder portion 62 of the counterpart housing 60, the waterproof portion 32 is sandwiched between the inner circumference 62B of the front side cylinder portion 62 and the outer circumference 24A of the wire receiving portion 24, so that the lip portion 31 is crushed. That is, the lip portion 31 is in close contact with both the inner circumference 62B of the front side cylinder portion 62 and the outer circumference 24A of the wire receiving portion 24, thereby achieving waterproofing between the front side cylinder portion 62 and the tower portion 23.

[0033] The anti-vibration portion 33 is formed in a cylindrical shape extending forward from the waterproof portion 32 along the outer peripheral surface 26B of the terminal housing portion 26. The front end of the anti-vibration portion 33 is located at about half of the total length of the terminal housing portion 26 in the front-to-back direction. When the front end portion 26C of the terminal housing portion 26 is about to vibrate around the lip portion 31, the anti-vibration portion 33 suppresses the vibration. Thus, the contact point between the terminal 11 and the other terminal 51 can be suppressed from being worn due to vibration.

[0034] [Reason for improving the vibration resistance of the entire connector unit] like Figure 3As shown, in the mating state, the front side barrel 62 surrounds the outer periphery of the wire storage part 24, and the front end of the front side barrel 62 of the other side housing 60 is located at the rear end of the connector 10 (the front surface of the connection part 21). Therefore, the part of the housing 20 that protrudes backwards than the front end of the front side barrel 62 is only the connection part 21. On the other hand, in the existing connector recorded in the Japanese Patent Publication No. 2019-125545, since the part of the housing that protrudes backwards than the front end of the cover is composed of the connection part, the cavity tower part (the part that stores the wires and the rubber plug), a pair of arched parts and the bottom, the cavity tower part, the pair of arched parts and the bottom are configured to jump out more to the rear than the connector 10 of the present disclosure. Therefore, the center of gravity of the connector 10 of the present disclosure is closer to the front than the existing connector, and the displacement of the rear end of the connector 10 during resonance can be suppressed. Along with this, the center of gravity of the connector unit 100 composed of the connector 10 and the other side connector 50 is also closer to the front than the existing connector, and the displacement of the entire connector unit 100 can be suppressed.

[0035] The tower portion 23 is formed to protrude forward from the front end of the cover portion 22. Therefore, the mating portion between the front cylinder portion 62 and the tower portion 23 is longer in the front-to-back direction than the conventional connector unit. Since the vibrations of the housing 20 and the counterpart housing 60 are integrated in the mating portion, the displacement can be suppressed to a small value even in resonance.

[0036] Furthermore, a thickened portion 27 that increases in thickness radially outward is provided at the opening edge of the cover portion 22. The thickened portion 27 positions the center of gravity of the connector unit 100 in front of the connector 10, and displacement of the entire connector unit 100 can be further suppressed.

[0037] In addition, a grip portion 27A that gradually thickens toward the front is provided at the rear end portion of the thickened portion 27. For example, by holding the grip portion 27A with the thumb and index finger and pushing the connector 10 toward the other connector 50, the fitting operation becomes easy. In the conventional connector, such a grip portion is formed as a step portion at the rear end portion of the shell body, which is a factor that causes the center of gravity of the connector to be located further back than the connector 10 of the present disclosure. In this regard, in the connector 10 of the present disclosure, since the thickened portion 27 having the grip portion 27A is formed at the front end portion of the cover portion 22, the center of gravity of the entire connector unit 100 is closer to the front than that of the conventional connector unit, and displacement during resonance can be further suppressed.

[0038] [Effects of the Embodiments] The connector unit 100 disclosed in the present invention comprises a mating connector 50 and a connector 10, wherein the mating connector 50 has a mating shell 60, and the connector 10 has a shell 20 that can be externally fitted into the mating shell 60. When the mating shell 60 and the shell 20 are already fitted, the fitting surface 60A of the mating shell 60 is opposite to the fitting surface 20A of the shell 20, and the fitting surfaces 20A and 60A are defined as the front side, the mating shell 60 has a front side cylinder 62 that opens forward, and the shell 20 has a cover 22 that can be externally fitted into the front side cylinder 62. , a tower portion 23 that can be embedded in the front barrel portion 62 and a connecting portion 21 that connects the rear end of the cover portion 22 and the rear end of the tower portion 23, the tower portion 23 has a terminal receiving portion 26 that internally receives the terminal 11 in a form that protrudes forward from the front end of the cover portion 22, and a wire receiving portion 24 that is connected to the rear side of the terminal receiving portion 26 and internally receives the wire 12 connected to the terminal 11, and when the other side shell 60 and the shell 20 are already engaged, the front barrel portion 62 surrounds the outer periphery of the wire receiving portion 24, and the front end of the front barrel portion 62 is located at the rear end portion of the shell 20.

[0039] According to the connector unit 100, since the terminal housing portion 26 is in a state of protruding forward of the front end of the cover portion 22, and the front end of the front tube portion 62 is located at the rear end of the housing 20, the center of gravity of the entire connector unit 100 can be located further forward than in the prior art. Thus, compared with the connector unit of the prior art, the displacement of the entire connector unit 100 during resonance can be better suppressed.

[0040] In addition, in the conventional connector, in the mating state, the size of the portion of the housing that protrudes to the rear of the front end of the other side cover is the size obtained by adding the thickness of the connecting portion to the length of the wire receiving portion in the front-to-back direction, so the displacement amount of the rear end of the connector becomes large during resonance. In contrast, in the above-mentioned connector 10, since the front side cylinder 62 is arranged to surround the outer periphery of the wire receiving portion 24, in the mating state, the size of the portion of the housing 20 that protrudes to the rear of the front end of the front side cylinder 62 is only the thickness of the connecting portion 21, so the amount of rearward protrusion can be suppressed, and the displacement amount of the rear end of the connector 10 can be suppressed from becoming large during resonance.

[0041] The cover portion 22 is preferably formed in a cylindrical shape that opens forward, and a thickened portion 27 that increases in thickness toward the radially outer side is provided at the opening edge of the cover portion 22 . Since the thickened portion 27 is provided at the opening edge of the cover portion 22 , the center of gravity of the entire connector unit 100 can be positioned further forward.

[0042] Preferably, the thickened portion 27 has a grip portion 27A that becomes thicker toward the front. Since the thickened portion 27 has the grip portion 27A, when the connector 10 is mated with the mating connector 50, the fingers can easily touch the grip portion 27A, and the thickened portion 27 can be used as an operation portion during mating. In addition, compared with the case where the grip portion 27A is provided at the rear end of the housing 20, since the center of gravity of the entire connector unit 100 can be located forward, the vibration resistance can be further improved.

[0043] [Other embodiments] (1) In the above embodiment, the rubber stopper 30 having the vibration-proof portion 33 is used, but a rubber stopper not having the vibration-proof portion may be used. In addition, a rubber stopper not having a lip portion in the waterproof portion may be used.

[0044] (2) In the above embodiment, the thickened portion 27 increases in thickness radially outward at the opening edge of the cover portion 22 , but may instead protrude forward from the opening edge of the cover portion 22 and increase in thickness.

[0045] (3) In the above embodiment, the thickened portion 27 has the grip portion 27A, but the thickened portion may not have the grip portion. Description of Reference Numerals
