Description
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Serial No. 63 / 353,900, filed on June 21, 2022, entitled “Timing for CSI Reporting,” the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] The present disclosure relates to wireless communications and, more particularly, to channel state information (CSI) reporting. Background Art
[0004] A wireless communication system may include one or more network communication devices (such as a base station), which may be referred to as an eNodeB (eNB), a next generation NodeB (gNB), a repeater, a radio head, a transceiver device, an access point, a transmitting and receiving point, or other suitable terms. Each network communication device (such as a base station) may support wireless communication of one or more user communication devices, which may also be referred to as a user equipment (UE), a mobile device, a sensor device, a headset device, a wearable device, or other suitable terms. A wireless communication system may support wireless communication with one or more user communication devices by utilizing resources of a wireless communication system (such as time resources (e.g., symbols, time slots, subframes, frames, etc.) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers, bandwidth parts, resource blocks, resource elements, etc.). In addition, a wireless communication system may support wireless communication across various radio access technologies, including third generation (3G) radio access technology, fourth generation (4G) radio access technology, fifth generation (5G) radio access technology, and other suitable radio access technologies beyond 5G (e.g., sixth generation (6G)).
[0005] In a wireless communication system, CSI feedback is reported by the UE to the network, and the CSI feedback can take multiple forms based on the size, time, and frequency granularity of the CSI feedback report. High-resolution CSI feedback reporting (Type II) provides a frequency granularity for CSI feedback, which can be indirectly parameterized. CSI reports can be periodic or semi-persistent, and each CSI report segment is associated with a CSI-RS transmission in a periodic or semi-persistent CSI reference signal (RS) transmission by a predefined rule (i.e., the CSI report and the CSI-RS transmission are associated with the same time domain behavior). In addition, according to the periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission, one CSI report corresponds to multiple CSI-RS transmissions, and the CSI report is divided into multiple segments, each CSI report segment is associated with a different CSI-RS transmission. Summary of the invention
[0006] The present disclosure relates to methods, apparatus, and systems that support timing of CSI reporting. By utilizing the described techniques, a UE may be configured to report a CSI report that includes a mixture of a CSI report corresponding to a previous CSI (e.g., a previous CSI corresponding to a moment before a CSI report transmission in an uplink direction) and a CSI report corresponding to a future CSI (e.g., a predicted CSI corresponding to a moment after a CSI report transmission in an uplink direction). The CSI report may be decomposed into a plurality of CSI reporting segments, wherein each CSI reporting segment includes a CSI report amount associated with a different time range and / or time interval. In addition, an indication of a time interval corresponding to each CSI reporting segment may be reported, wherein the indication is configured to the UE by the network via high-layer signaling, fed back to the network by the UE as part of the CSI report, or a combination thereof. By performing timing of CSI reporting, the UE may operate at a relatively high travel speed in a wireless communication system while taking into account the timing indication of the CSI amount of the CSI report in a high-speed environment.
[0007] Some implementations of the methods and apparatus described herein may also include: the UE receives first signaling indicating a CSI report setting, the CSI report setting indicating a CSI-RS transmission on a channel measurement resource (CMR). The CSI-RS transmission is associated with a time unit, and the CSI-RS transmission corresponds to two precoder matrix indicator (PMI) segments. The UE maps at least one of the two PMI segments to the time unit and sends a second signaling indicating a CSI report, the CSI report identifying at least one of the two PMI segments mapped to the time unit. Each of the PMI segments includes a coefficient set, and each PMI segment is associated with at least one of the CSI-RS transmissions.
[0008] Some implementations of the methods and apparatus described herein may also include: a network device (e.g., a base station) that sends a first signaling indicating a CSI report setting, the CSI report setting indicating a CSI-RS transmission on a CMR. The CSI-RS transmission is associated with a time unit, and the CSI-RS transmission corresponds to two PMI segments. The network device receives a second signaling indicating a CSI report, and the CSI report identifies a mapping of at least one PMI segment in the two PMI segments mapped to the time unit. Each PMI segment in the PMI segments includes a coefficient set, and each PMI segment is associated with at least one CSI-RS transmission in the CSI-RS transmission.
[0009] Some implementations of the methods and apparatus described herein may also include: the UE receiving first signaling indicating a CSI report setting, the CSI report setting indicating a CSI-RS transmission on the CMR, the CSI-RS transmission being associated with a time unit, and the CSI-RS transmission corresponding to two PMI segments. The UE mapping at least one of the two PMI segments to the time unit, and the UE sending second signaling indicating a CSI report, the CSI report identifying at least one of the two PMI segments mapped to the time unit.
[0010] Some implementations of the methods and apparatus described herein may also include: a network device (e.g., a base station) sending first signaling indicating a CSI report setting, the CSI report setting indicating a CSI-RS transmission on a CMR, the CSI-RS transmission being associated with a time unit, and the CSI-RS transmission corresponding to two PMI segments. The network device receives second signaling indicating a CSI report, the CSI report identifying a mapping of at least one of the two PMI segments mapped to the time unit. [0021] In a wireless communication system, CSI feedback is reported by the UE to the network, and the CSI feedback can take multiple forms based on the size, time, and frequency granularity of the CSI feedback report. The CSI report can be periodic or semi-persistent, and each CSI report segment is associated with a CSI-RS transmission in a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission by a predefined rule (i.e., the CSI report and the CSI-RS transmission are associated with the same time domain behavior). However, this approach is limited to network-based CSI prediction. If the channel correlation corresponding to two consecutive CSI-RS transmissions is strong, it is invalid to provide a CSI report for each CSI-RS transmission. In addition, according to the periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission, one CSI report corresponds to multiple CSI-RS transmissions, and the CSI report is divided into multiple segments, each CSI report segment being associated with a different CSI-RS transmission. However, given the network-based CSI prediction assumption, the reported CSI amount may be outdated (e.g., the correlation with the channel is low at the time of CSI feedback), especially for CSI report segments associated with early CSI-RS transmissions. For UE-based CSI prediction, each CSI report may correspond to a different moment in the future, however, identifying the time correspondence of CSI reports requires coordination between the network and the UE (eg, based on network indication, UE-assisted indication, or fixed rules).
[0022] Various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting take into account situations where the UE speed is relatively high (e.g., up to 500 km / h), such as when traveling in a car, train, or other vehicle. To accommodate such scenarios while maintaining similar quality of service, a modified CSI framework including measurement and reporting can be implemented. At relatively high speeds (e.g., relative to a UE that is generally stationary or in a fixed position or moving slowly), the CSI report may indicate a previous CSI corresponding to a past time (e.g., a time before the CSI reporting time), where the CSI prediction is determined by the network based on the previous CSI, or indicate a predicted CSI corresponding to a future time (e.g., a time after the CSI reporting time). For either type of CSI prediction, the CSI report may correspond to various time moments. In addition, in order to more efficiently utilize the reported CSI for network-side precoder design, full coordination of the mapping of CSI reporting quantities to corresponding time moments is considered.
[0023] Various aspects of the present disclosure provide a CSI framework solution for both measurement and reporting, such as a configuration for a UE moving at high speed. At high speed (e.g., relatively high speed), due to the strong Doppler effect at high speed, the UE may need to report CSI corresponding to one or more time moments to enable efficient prediction of CSI. The UE may provide a CSI report comprising: a mixture of a CSI report corresponding to a previous CSI (e.g., a previous CSI corresponding to a time moment before the CSI report transmission in the uplink direction) and a CSI report corresponding to a future CSI (e.g., a predicted CSI corresponding to a time moment after the CSI report transmission in the uplink direction). The CSI report may be decomposed into multiple CSI report segments, wherein each CSI report segment includes a CSI report amount associated with a different time range and / or time interval. In addition, an indication of a time interval corresponding to each CSI report segment may be reported, wherein the indication is configured to the UE by the network via high-layer signaling, fed back to the network by the UE as part of the CSI report, or a combination thereof.
[0024] Aspects of the present disclosure are described in the context of a wireless communication system. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated and described with reference to device diagrams and flow charts.
[0025] Figure 1An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting timing of CSI reporting according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network entities 102, one or more UEs 104, a core network 106, and a packet data network 108. The wireless communication system 100 may support various radio access technologies. In some implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a 4G network, such as an LTE network or an advanced LTE (LTE-A) network. In some other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a 5G network, such as an NR network. In other implementations, the wireless communication system 100 may be a combination of a 4G network and a 5G network, or other suitable radio access technologies, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 (Wi-Fi), IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX), IEEE 802.20. The wireless communication system 100 may support radio access technologies other than 5G. In addition, the wireless communication system 100 may support technologies such as time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), or code division multiple access (CDMA).
[0026] One or more network entities 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form a wireless communication system 100. One or more of the network entities 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a radio access network (RAN), a base transceiver station, an access point, a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB), a next generation NodeB (gNB), or other suitable terms. The network entity 102 and the UE 104 may communicate via a communication link 110, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, send signaling) over a Uu interface.
[0027] The network entity 102 may provide a geographic coverage area 112 for which the network entity 102 supports services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc.) for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area 112. For example, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support wireless communications of signals associated with services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc.) according to one or more radio access technologies. In some implementations, the network entity 102 may be mobile, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network. In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas 112 associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but different geographic coverage areas 112 may be associated with different network entities 102. The information and signals described herein may be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, and chips that may be referenced throughout the description may be represented by voltage, current, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields, or particles, or any combination thereof.
[0028] One or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout the geographic area of the wireless communication system 100. UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a remote unit, a handheld device, a subscriber device, or some other suitable term. In some implementations, UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. Additionally or alternatively, UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc. In some implementations, UE 104 may be stationary in the wireless communication system 100. In some other implementations, UE 104 may be mobile in the wireless communication system 100.
[0029] One or more UEs 104 may be devices of different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some examples of UE 104 are illustrated in FIG. Figure 1 As shown, UE 104 can communicate with various types of devices, such as network entity 102, other UEs 104, or network devices (e.g., core network 106, packet data network 108, relay device, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, or another network device), such as Figure 1 Additionally or alternatively, the UE 104 can support communications with other network entities 102 or UEs 104 that can act as relays in the wireless communication system 100.
[0030] UE 104 may also be capable of supporting wireless communications directly with other UEs 104 via a communication link 114. For example, UE 104 may support wireless communications directly with another UE 104 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular V2X deployments, communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, UE 104 may support wireless communications directly with another UE 104 via a PC5 interface.
[0031] The network entity 102 may support communication with the core network 106 or with another network entity 102 or both. For example, the network entity 102 may interface with the core network 106 via one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via S1, N2, or another network interface). The network entities 102 may communicate with each other via the backhaul links 116 (e.g., via X2, Xn, or another network interface). In some implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate directly with each other (e.g., between the network entities 102). In some other implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 106). In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 may include subcomponents, such as access network entities, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). The ANC may communicate with one or more UEs 104 via one or more other access network transport entities (which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transport reception points (TRPs)).
[0032] In some implementations, the network entity 102 may be configured in a decomposed architecture that may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more network entities 102, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance), or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN)). For example, the network entity 102 may include one or more of the following: a central unit (CU), a distributed unit (DU), a radio unit (RU), a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) (e.g., a near real-time RIC (near RT RIC), a non-real-time RIC (non-RT RIC)), a service management and orchestration (SMO) system, or any combination thereof.
[0033] The RU may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH), a remote radio unit (RRU), or a transmission reception point (TRP). In a decomposed RAN architecture, one or more components of the network entity 102 may be collocated, or one or more components of the network entity 102 may be located at distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations). In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 of the decomposed RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., virtual CU (VCU), virtual DU (VDU), virtual RU (VRU)).
[0034] The functional split between CU, DU, and RU can be flexible, and different functions can be supported according to the functions performed at the CU, DU, or RU (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combination thereof). For example, a functional split of a protocol stack can be adopted between a CU and a DU, so that the CU can support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU can support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU can host upper protocol layer (e.g., Layer 3 (L3), Layer 2 (L2)) functions and signaling (e.g., Radio Resource Control (RRC), Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP), Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)). The CU can be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and one or more DUs or RUs can host lower protocol layers, such as Layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, media access control (MAC) layer) functions and signaling, and each can be at least partially controlled by the CU.
[0035] Additionally or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between the DU and the RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DU may support one or more different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs). In some implementations, the functional split between the CU and the DU or between the DU and the RU may be within the protocol layer (e.g., some functions of the protocol layer may be performed by one of the CU, the DU, or the RU, while other functions of the protocol layer may be performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU).
[0036] The CU may be further functionally split into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. The CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a medium-range communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u), and the DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., an open fronthaul (FH) interface). In some implementations, the medium-range communication link or the fronthaul communication link may be implemented according to interfaces (e.g., channels) between layers of a protocol stack supported by a corresponding network entity 102 communicating via such a communication link.
[0037] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connection, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include control plane entities that manage access and mobility (e.g., mobility management entity (MME), access and mobility management function (AMF)), and user plane entities that route packets or interconnections to external networks (e.g., serving gateway (S-GW), packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or user plane function (UPF)). In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearer, signal bearer, etc.) of one or more UEs 104 served by one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.
[0038] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 via one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via S1, N2, or another network interface). The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. The UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, etc.) with the core network 106 via the network entity 102. The core network 106 may use the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) to route traffic (e.g., control information, data, etc.) between the UE 104 and the application server 118. The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106).
[0039] In the wireless communication system 100, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may use the resources of the wireless communication system 100 (such as time resources (e.g., symbols, time slots, subframes, frames, etc.) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communication). In some implementations, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and other suitable radio access technologies, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures). The network entity 102 and the UE 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more digital technologies.
[0040] One or more digital technologies may be supported in the wireless communication system 100, and the digital technologies may include subcarrier spacing and cyclic prefixes. A first digital technology (e.g., μ = 0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A first digital technology (e.g., μ = 0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second digital technology (e.g., μ = 1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third digital technology (e.g., μ = 2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth digital technology (e.g., μ = 3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth digital technology (e.g., μ = 4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.
[0041] The time intervals of resources (e.g., communication resources) can be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames). Each frame can have a duration, for example, a duration of 10 milliseconds (ms). In some implementations, each frame can include multiple subframes. For example, each frame can include 10 subframes, and each subframe can have a duration, for example, a duration of 1 ms. In some implementations, each frame can have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame can have the same duration.
[0042] Additionally or alternatively, the time intervals of resources (e.g., communication resources) can be organized according to time slots. For example, a subframe may include a certain number (e.g., quantity) of time slots. Each time slot may include a certain number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) (OFDM) symbols). In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of time slots of a subframe may depend on the digital technology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a time slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable to a 60kHz subcarrier spacing), a time slot may include 12 symbols. For a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix, the relationship between the number of symbols per time slot, the number of time slots per subframe, and the number of time slots per frame may depend on the digital technology. It should be understood that references to a first digital technology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and time slots.
[0043] In the wireless communication system 100, the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum can be divided into various categories, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. based on frequency or wavelength. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can support one or more operating frequency bands, such as frequency range names FR1 (410 MHz-7.125 GHz), FR2 (24.25 GHz-52.6 GHz), FR3 (7.125 GHz-24.25 GHz), FR4 (52.6 GHz-114.25 GHz), FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz-71 GHz), and FR5 (114.25 GHz-300 GHz). In some implementations, the network entity 102 and the UE 104 can perform wireless communications on the one or more operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 can be used by the network entity 102 and the UE 104 and other devices or apparatuses for cellular communication services (e.g., control information, data). In some implementations, FR2 can be used by the network entity 102 and the UE 104 and other devices or apparatuses for short-range, high data rate capabilities.
[0044] FR1 may be associated with one or more digital technologies (e.g., at least three digital technologies). For example, FR1 may be associated with: a first digital technology (e.g., μ=0) including a subcarrier spacing of 15 kHz; a second digital technology (e.g., μ=1) including a subcarrier spacing of 30 kHz; a third digital technology (e.g., μ=2) including a subcarrier spacing of 60 kHz. FR2 may be associated with one or more digital technologies (e.g., at least 2 digital technologies). For example, FR2 may be associated with: a third digital technology (e.g., μ=2) including a subcarrier spacing of 60 kHz; a fourth digital technology (e.g., μ=3) including a subcarrier spacing of 120 kHz.
[0045] Depending on the implementation, one or more of network entity 102 and UE 104 can be used to implement various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting, as described herein. For example, network entity 102 can transmit signaling 120 indicating CSI reporting settings, where the CSI reporting settings indicate CSI-RS transmission on the CMR. The CSI-RS transmission is associated with a time unit, and the CSI-RS transmission corresponds to two PMI segments. UE 104 receives signaling 120 and maps 122 at least one of the two PMI segments to the time unit. UE 104 sends response signaling 124 to network entity 102, where signaling 124 indicates a CSI report that identifies at least one of the two PMI segments mapped to the time unit. Thus, network entity 102 receives signaling 124 indicating the CSI report.
[0046] In various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting, new radio (5G NR) codebook types, such as type II codebooks, are considered. Regarding the NR (Rel.15) type II codebook, the gNB can be equipped with a two-dimensional (2D) antenna array, where N1 and N2 antenna ports are placed vertically and for each polarization level, and communication occurs on N3 PMI subbands. A PMI subband includes a set of resource blocks, and each resource block includes a set of subcarriers. In this case, 2N1N2 CSI-RS ports are used to implement high-resolution downlink (DL) channel estimation for the NR (Rel.15) type II codebook. To reduce uplink (UL) feedback overhead, DFT-based CSI compression in the spatial domain is applied to the L dimensions for each polarization, where L < N1N2. Subsequently, the 2L-dimensional index is referred to as the spatial domain (SD) basis index. The magnitude and phase values of the linear combination coefficients for each subband are fed back to the gNB as part of the CSI report. The 2N1N2×N3 codebook for each layer l takes the following form:
[0047] W l = W1W 2,l ,
[0048] where W1 is a 2N1N2×2L block diagonal matrix (L < N1N2) with two identical diagonal blocks, i.e.,
[0049]
[0050] and B is an N1N2×L matrix with columns extracted from a 2D oversampled DFT matrix, as follows:
[0051]
[0052] where the superscript Trepresents the matrix transpose operation. Note that for the 2D DFT matrix from which the matrix B is drawn, oversampling factors O1, O2 are assumed. Note that W1 is common in all layers. W 2,l is a 2L×N3 matrix, where the i-th column corresponds to the linear combination coefficients of the 2L beams in the i-th subband. Only the indices of the L selected columns of B are reported, as well as the oversampled indices using O1O2 values. Note that W 2,l It is independent for different layers.
[0053] Regarding the NR (Rel.15) Type II port selection codebook, only K (where K≤2N1N2) beamforming CSI-RS ports are used in DL transmission to reduce complexity. The K×N3 codebook matrix for each layer takes the following form:
[0054]
[0055] Here, W2 follows the same structure as the conventional NR Type II codebook and is layer-specific. is a K×2L block diagonal matrix with two identical diagonal blocks, i.e.
[0056]
[0057] And E is The matrix, whose columns are standard unit vectors, looks like this:
[0058]
[0059] in is a standard unit vector with 1 at the ith position. Here, d PS is the RRC parameter, in d PS ≤min(K / 2, L) takes the value {1, 2, 3, 4}, and m PS The value is And is reported as part of the UL CSI feedback overhead. W1 is common in all layers.
[0060] For K=16, L=4, and d PS =1, and m PS ={0, 1, ..., 7}, the 8 possible realizations of E are as follows:
[0061]
[0062] When PS =2, and m PS ={0, 1, 2, 3}, the four possible realizations of E are as follows:
[0063]
[0064] When d PS = 3, the three possible realizations of E corresponding to m PS = {0, 1, 2} are as follows:
[0065]
[0066] When d PS = 4, the two possible realizations of E corresponding to m PS = {0, 1} are as follows:
[0067]
[0068] In summary, the m PS parameterizes the position of the first 1 in the first column of E, while d PS represents the row offset corresponding to different values of m PS .
[0069] Regarding the NR (Rel.15) Type I codebook, the Type I codebook is the baseline codebook of NR and has various configurations. The most common utility of the Type I codebook is a special case of the NR Type II codebook, where L = 1, the rank indicator (RI) = 1, 2, and the phase coupling value is reported for each subband, i.e., W 2,l is 2×N3, the first row is equal to [1, 1,..., 1], and the second row is equal to In a specific configuration, φ0 = φ1 …… = φ, i.e., wideband reporting. For the case of RI > 2, different beams are used for each pair of layers. The NR Type I codebook can be described as a low-resolution version of the NR Type II codebook, which performs spatial beam selection for each layer pair and only phase combination.
[0070] Regarding the NR (Rel.16) Type II codebook, the gNB can be equipped with a two-dimensional (2D) antenna array, where N1 and N2 antenna ports are vertically placed for each polarization level, and communication occurs on N3 PMI subbands. The PMI subbands include a set of resource blocks, and each resource block includes a set of subcarriers. In this case, 2N1N2N3 CSI-RS ports are used to achieve high-resolution DL channel estimation of the NR (Rel.16) Type II codebook. To reduce the UL feedback overhead, DFT-based CSI compression in the spatial domain is applied to the L dimensions of each polarization, where L < N1N2. Similarly, additional compression is applied in the frequency domain, where each beam of the frequency-domain precoding vector is transformed to the delay domain using the inverse DFT matrix, and the size and phase values of a subset of the delay-domain coefficients are selected and fed back to the gNB as part of the CSI report. The 2N1N2×N3 codebook for each layer takes the following form:
[0071]
[0072] where W1 is a 2N1N2×2L block diagonal matrix with two identical diagonal blocks (L < N1N2), i.e.,
[0073]
[0074] and B is an N1N2×L matrix with columns extracted from a 2D oversampled DFT matrix, as follows:
[0075]
[0076]
[0077]
[0078] where the superscript T denotes the matrix transpose operation. Note that for the 2D DFT matrix from which matrix B is drawn, oversampling factors O1, O2 are assumed. Note that W1 is common across all layers. W f is an N3×M matrix (M < N3), whose columns are selected from a critically sampled size N3 DFT matrix, as follows:
[0079]
[0080] Only the indices of the L selected columns of B, and the oversampling indices with O1O2 values, are reported. Similarly, for W f,l , only the indices of the M selected columns in the predefined size N3 DFT matrix are reported. Thereafter, the indices in the M dimension are referred to as the selected frequency domain (FD) basis indices. Thus, L and M represent the compressed equivalent spatial and frequency dimensions, respectively. Finally, the 2L×M matrix represents the linear combination coefficients (LCC) of the spatial and frequency DFT basis vectors. For different layers, and W f are both independently selected. The magnitude and phase values of approximately β fraction of the 2LM available coefficients (β < 1) are reported to the gNB as part of the CSI report. Coefficients with zero magnitude are represented via a per-layer bitmap. Since all coefficients reported within a layer are normalized with respect to the coefficient with the largest magnitude (strongest coefficient), the relative value of this coefficient is set to unity, and the magnitude or phase information of this coefficient is not explicitly reported. Only an indication of the index of the strongest coefficient per layer is reported. Thus, for single-layer transmission, at most coefficient magnitude and phase values (along with the indices of the selected L, M DFT vectors) are reported per layer, resulting in a significant reduction in the size of the CSI report compared to reporting information on 2N1N2×N3 - 1 coefficients.
[0081] For the Type II port selection codebook (Rel.16), only K (where K≤2N1N2) beamforming CSI-RS ports are used in DL transmission to reduce complexity. The K×N3 codebook matrix for each layer takes the following form:
[0082]
[0083] here, and W f,l follows the same structure as the conventional NR (Rel.16) Type II codebook, where both are layer specific. It is a K×2L block diagonal matrix, and its structure is the same as that in the NR (Rel.15) II type port selection codebook.
[0084] For codebook reporting, the codebook report is divided into two parts based on the priority of the reported information. Each part is encoded separately (Part 1 may have a higher code rate). Below, only the parameters of the NR (Rel.16) Type II codebook are listed. Regarding the content of the CSI report, Part 1 is RI + Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) + Total Number of Coefficients. Part 2 is SD-based indicator + FD-based indicator / layer + bitmap / layer + coefficient amplitude information / layer + coefficient value phase information / layer + strongest coefficient indicator / layer. In addition, Part 2 CSI can be decomposed into sub-parts, each with a different priority (higher priority information comes first). Such a segmentation is required to allow the size of the codebook to be dynamically reported based on the available resources in the UL phase. In addition, the Type II codebook is based on non-periodic CSI reporting and is only reported in PUSCH via downlink control information (DCI) triggering (one exception). The Type-I codebook may be based on periodic CSI reporting (Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH)) or semi-persistent CSI reporting (Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) or PUCCH) or aperiodic reporting (PUSCH).
[0085] Regarding the reporting of CSI report part 2, note that multiple CSI reports can be sent with different priorities, as shown in Table 1 below.
[0086] Table 1: Priority reporting levels for Part 2 CSI.
[0087]
[0088]
[0089] Regarding triggering aperiodic CSI reporting on PUSCH, the UE needs to use the CSI framework in NR (Rel.15) to report the CSI information required by the network. The triggering mechanism between the report setting and the resource setting can be summarized as shown in Table 2 below.
[0090] Table 2: Triggering mechanism between report settings and resource settings.
[0091]
[0092] In addition, all associated resource settings of the CSI reporting setting need to have the same time domain behavior. After configuration by radio resource control (RRC), periodic CSI-RS / interference management (IM) resources and CSI reporting cups are assumed to be present and active. Aperiodic and semi-persistent CSI-RS / IM resources and CSI reports are explicitly triggered or activated. For aperiodic CSI-RS / IM resources and aperiodic CSI reports, the triggering is performed jointly by sending DCI formats 0-1. Semi-persistent CSI-RS / IM resources and semi-persistent CSI reports are activated independently.
[0093] Figure 2 An example 200 of a non-periodic trigger state defining a list of CSI report settings related to the timing of CSI reports in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In this example 200, for non-periodic CSI-RS / IM resources and non-periodic CSI reporting, triggering is performed jointly by sending DCI formats 0-1. DCI formats 0-1 contain a CSI request field (0 to 6 bits). A non-zero request field points to an aperiodic trigger state configured by RRC. The aperiodic trigger state is further defined as a list of up to sixteen (16) aperiodic CSI report settings, identified by a CSI report setting identifier (ID), for which the UE simultaneously calculates its CSI and sends it on a scheduled PUSCH transmission.
[0094] Figure 3 An example 300 of an aperiodic trigger state indicating resource sets and QCL information related to the timing of CSI reporting according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The example 300 indicates that when a CSI report setting is linked with an aperiodic resource setting (which may include multiple resource sets), the aperiodic NZP CSI-RS resource set for channel measurement, the aperiodic CSI-IM resource set (if used), and the aperiodic NZP CSI-RS resource set for the IM to be used for a given CSI report setting (if used) are also included in the aperiodic trigger state definition, as shown in the example 300. For the aperiodic NZP CSI-RS, the QCL source to be used is also configured as an aperiodic trigger state. The UE assumes that the resources used to calculate the channel and interference can be processed using the same spatial filter (i.e., quasi-co-located with respect to "QCL-TypeD").
[0095] Figure 4An example 400 of RRC configuration of NZP-CSI-RS resources related to timing of CSI reporting according to various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The example 400 indicates RRC configuration of NZP-CSI-RS / CSI-IM resources. Table 3 below summarizes the relationship between UL channel type and CSI codebook type for CSI reporting.
[0096] Table 3: Relationship between UL channels and CSI codebook types used for CSI reporting.
[0097]
[0098] Figure 5 An example 500 of partial CSI omission of PUSCH-based CSI associated with the timing of CSI reporting in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For aperiodic CSI reporting, the PUSCH-based report is divided into two CSI parts, CSI Part 1 and CSI Part 2, because the size of the CSI payload varies greatly and thus the worst case uplink control information (UCI) payload size design will result in large overhead. CSI Part 1 has a fixed payload size (and can be decoded by the gNB without a priori information) and contains the following: RI (if reported), CSI-RS Resource Index (CRI) (if reported) and CQI for the first codeword; and the number of non-zero wideband amplitude coefficients for each layer of Type II CSI feedback on PUSCH. CSI Part 2 has a variable payload size that can be derived from the CSI parameters in CSI Part 1 and contains PMI and CQI for the second codeword when RI>4. For example, if the aperiodic trigger state indicated by DCI format 0_1 defines 3 reporting settings x, y, and z, then the aperiodic CSI reports for CSI part 2 will be ordered as indicated in example 500 .
[0099] As mentioned above, CSI reports are prioritized based on several factors, including time domain behavior and physical channel, where more dynamic reports take precedence over less dynamic reports and PUSCH takes precedence over PUCCH; CSI content, where beam reports (i.e., L1 reference signal received power (RSRP) reports) take precedence over regular CSI reports; the serving cell to which the CSI corresponds (in the case of carrier aggregation (CA) operation), and CSI corresponding to the PCell takes precedence over CSI corresponding to the Scell; and reportConfigID.
[0100] In various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting as described herein, unless otherwise noted, a group of one or more NZP CSI-RS resources configured with the higher layer parameter 'trs-info' is referred to as a tracking reference signal (TRS), and an NZP CSI-RS resource that is not configured with the higher layer parameter 'trs-info' or 'repeation' is referred to as a CSI-RS. In various aspects of the present disclosure for CSI reporting in a high speed environment, it is expected that the UE is configured with a CSI reporting setting (i.e., a CSI-ReportConfig information element (IE)) corresponding to CSI feedback in a high mobility environment. Note that CSI reporting in a high speed environment is not associated with a specific speed, but rather a specific mode is activated based on signaling between the network and the UE. The indication of a high mobility environment within the CSI reporting setting can be implemented with one or more techniques, as described below.
[0101] Figure 6 An example 600 of an ASN.1 code corresponding to an indication of a CSI report in a high-speed environment that supports the timing of CSI reports in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In an implementation of the example 600 of a new codebook type or subtype, one or more additional values for the high-level parameter CodebookType may be introduced. In one implementation, the parameter CodebookType may be part of one or more codebook configuration IEs. Alternatively, a new codebook configuration (introduced in Rel.18, i.e., CodebookConfig-r18) may be implemented. All codebook configuration IEs are part of the CSI-ReportConfig report setting IE. Examples of other values of the CodebookType parameter are 'typeII-r18' or 'typeII-HighSpeed'. Examples of ASN.1 codes corresponding to the implementations described herein are shown in this example 600 for the codebook configuration IE.
[0102] Figure 7 An example 700 of an ASN.1 code corresponding to an indication of a CSI report in a high speed environment that supports the timing of CSI reporting in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In an implementation of this example 700, an additional high-layer parameter (e.g., highSpeed) is introduced within a CSI reporting setting IE as part of a CSI reporting setting that configures a CSI feedback report corresponding to a high speed environment for a UE. The high speed parameter may appear in different sub-elements of the reporting setting IE. An example of an ASN.1 code corresponding to this embodiment is shown in this example 700 for a CSI reporting setting IE.
[0103] Figure 8An example 800 of an ASN.1 code corresponding to an indication of a CSI report in a high speed environment that supports timing of CSI reports in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. In an implementation of this example 800, an additional higher layer parameter (e.g., highSpeedFlag) is introduced as part of the codebook configuration within the codebook configuration CodebookConfig IE. In a first example, the new parameter is included under the codebook configuration IE (e.g., CodebookConfig, CodebookConfig-r18). In a second example, the new parameter is a sub-parameter within the higher layer parameter codebookType, which is a configuration conditional on supporting high speed codebooks (e.g., as long as the codebook type is set to Rel.18 type II, such as 'typeII-r18', 'typeII-HighSpeed'). An example of an ASN.1 code corresponding to this implementation is shown in example 800 for the CodebookConfig codebook configuration information element (IE).
[0104] Regarding CSI reporting configuration, it is expected that the UE is configured with a CSI reporting setting as a message from the network (i.e., CSI-ReportConfig information element (IE)) corresponding to CSI feedback in a high mobility environment. Several implementations are described below, any one of which or a combination of these implementations can be implemented in various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting. In a first implementation for periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission, the CSI reporting setting is associated with a CSI resource setting (i.e., CSI-ResourceConfig), which is configured with a time domain behavior set, which is set to one of periodic CSI-RS transmission or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission. In a second implementation for two CSI-RS transmission modes (periodic or semi-persistent and aperiodic CSI-RS transmission), the CSI reporting setting is associated with a CSI resource setting (i.e., CSI-ResourceConfig) corresponding to two CSI-RS groups. The first CSI-RS resource group is configured with a time domain behavior set to one of periodic CSI-RS transmission or semi-persistent CSI-RS transmission, and the second CSI-RS resource group is configured with a time domain behavior set to aperiodic CSI-RS transmission.
[0105] In a third implementation, the UE is configured to report at least two PMI segments within the same CSI report. For example, each of the two PMI segments corresponds to a different PMI quantity based on a configured precoding matrix. In another example, the two PMI segments correspond to different parameters of the same PMI quantity based on the configured precoding matrix. Regarding the content of the two PMI segments, in a fourth implementation, the first PMI segment of the two PMI segments includes a first subset of a set of precoding matrix coefficient values, wherein the first subset of the set of precoding matrix coefficient values includes a first set of amplitude values, phase values, and bitmap values indicating or locating coefficients with non-zero amplitude values. The second PMI segment of the two PMI segments includes a second subset of a set of precoding matrix coefficient values, wherein the second subset of the set of precoding matrix coefficient values includes a second set of amplitude values, phase values, and bitmap values indicating or locating coefficients with non-zero amplitude values.
[0106] In an implementation, the two PMI segments may be associated with a common RI value. The two PMI segments may be associated with a common CQI value. In one implementation, the first of the two PMI segments is associated with (multiple) CQI values configured with a subband CQI format, and the second of the two PMI segments is associated with (multiple) CQI values configured with a wideband CQI format. In another implementation, the first of the two PMI segments is associated with (multiple) PMI values configured with a subband PMI format, and the second of the two PMI segments is associated with (multiple) PMI values configured with a wideband PMI format.
[0107] Regarding indications of times corresponding to PMI segments, the UE may be configured to send a CSI report including at least two PMI segments, and may need to transmit indications of two PMI intervals corresponding to two PMI segments. The UE will report one CSI (e.g., at time z). However, this single CSI report will include CSI corresponding to multiple times x & y (e.g., x = 5, y = 7, and z = 10). Several implementations are described below, any one or a combination of these implementations may be implemented in various aspects of the timing of CSI reporting.
[0108] For a network device that determines a time unit corresponding to two PMI segments, the UE receives configuration information indicating a set of one or more time units or intervals, wherein each time unit or interval corresponds to at least one PMI segment of the two PMI segments, and the configuration indication is based on RRC signaling or MAC CE signaling.
[0109] In another implementation, the UE determines the time unit corresponding to the two PMI segments, and the UE returns a parameter value indicating a set of one or more time units or intervals, where each time unit or interval corresponds to at least one of the two PMI segments. The parameter value is reported on a physical uplink channel (e.g., PUSCH or PUCCH) as part of a CSI report corresponding to a high-speed scenario. In another implementation, with respect to an alphabet of time units that the UE or the network can select, the alphabet of time units or intervals corresponds to any one or a combination of the following: a set of consecutive time slots (e.g., an interval of five (5) consecutive time slots); a set of non-consecutive time slots with equal time intervals (e.g., time slots 0, 4, 9, 14, ...); a set of pre-configured time slot sequences; and / or a one-to-one correspondence with a time domain behavior of a corresponding CSI-RS transmission (e.g., one CSI-RS transmission per PMI segment based on a periodic CSI-RS transmission).
[0110] In another implementation, the CSI report includes a number (e.g., K, which represents the number of PMI segments, i.e., K time units or time intervals) as K time values for the K PMI segments. In another implementation, the CSI report includes a certain number (e.g., K) of PMI segments, which indicates the same number minus one (i.e., K-1) time units or intervals, where the first PMI segment in the number of PMI segments corresponds to a predefined or preconfigured value of the time unit, as K-1 time values for the K PMI segments. In another implementation, the time value is indicated in the form of a bitmap. For example, the UE is configured to report K PMI segments within K' possible time units or intervals, where K≤K', and K selected time intervals will be reported via a bitmap of length K', the bitmap including K entries with a value of 1, indicating the correspondence with the K reported PMI segments. In another example, the UE is configured to report K PMI segments within K possible time units / intervals, where K≤K', and K-1 selected time units or intervals are reported via a bitmap of length K'-1, the bitmap comprising K'-1 entries with a value of 1, indicating a correspondence with the last K-1 reported PMI segments of the K PMI segments, and wherein the first reported PMI segment of the K PMI segments corresponds to a predefined or preconfigured time unit or interval.
[0111] In implementations for indicating a combined value of a time unit, the time value is indicated in the form of a combined parameter value. For example, the UE may be configured to report K PMI segments in K' possible time units or intervals, where K ≤ K', by providing a bit width (i.e., number of bits) equal to a parameter of bits (e.g., the ceiling function of the base-2 logarithm of the K'-choose-K function) to report values indicating K selected time units or intervals. In another example, the UE may be configured to report K PMI segments within K' possible time units or intervals, where K ≤ K', and the bit width (i.e., the number of bits) equal to a parameter of bits (e.g., the ceiling function of the base-2 logarithm of the (K'-1)-choose-(K'-1) function) to report values indicating K-1 selected time units or intervals, indicating the correspondence with the last K-1 reported PMI segments among the K PMI segments, and where the first reported PMI segment among the K PMI segments corresponds to a predefined or preconfigured time unit or interval.
[0112] In another implementation, the K PMI segments can be grouped into two sets of K1 and K2 PMI segments respectively, where K = K1 + K2, and the first set of the two sets of PMI segments corresponds to the time unit or interval before the time unit or interval when transmitting the CSI report including the PMI segments. The second set of the two sets of PMI segments corresponds to the time unit or interval after the time unit or interval when transmitting the CSI report including the PMI segments. For group 1, the CSI corresponds to time x, and the CSI report is sent at time z, where x < z (CSI from past measurements). For group 2, the CSI corresponds to time y, and the CSI report is sent at time z, where y > z (CSI predicted for future time). In the first example, the values K1 and K2 are high layers configured by the network. In the second example. The values K1 and K2 are selected by the UE and reported implicitly or explicitly as part of the CSI report. In the third example, two bitmaps are indicated as corresponding to the two sets of PMI segments. In the fourth example, two combined parameter values are indicated as corresponding to the two sets of PMI segments.
[0113] In one or more implementations, the terms antenna, panel, and antenna panel may be used interchangeably. An antenna panel may be hardware for transmitting and / or receiving radio signals at a frequency below 6 GHz (e.g., frequency range 1 (FR1)) or above 6 GHz (e.g., frequency region 2 (FR2) or millimeter wave (mmWave)). In some implementations, an antenna panel may be an array of antenna elements, where each antenna element is coupled to hardware, such as a phase shifter, that allows a control module to apply spatial parameters to transmit and / or receive signals. The resulting radiation pattern may be referred to as a beam, which may or may not be unimodal and may allow the device to amplify signals transmitted or received from a spatial direction.
[0114] In some implementations, antenna panels may or may not be virtualized as antenna ports in the specification. Antenna panels may be connected to baseband processing modules via radio frequency (RF) chains for each transmit (egress) and receive (ingress) direction. The capabilities of a device in terms of the number of antenna panels, its duplex capability, its beamforming capability, etc. may or may not be transparent to other devices. In some implementations, capability information may be transmitted via signaling, or in some implementations, capability information may be provided to a device without signaling. If such information is available to other devices, it may be used for signaling or local decision making.
[0115] In some implementations, a device (e.g., UE or node) antenna panel may be a physical or logical antenna array that includes a collection of antenna elements or antenna ports that share a common or significant portion of an RF chain (e.g., in-phase / quadrature (I / Q) modulator, analog-to-digital (A / D) converter, local oscillator, phase shift network). A device antenna panel or "device panel" may be a logical entity having physical device antennas mapped to logical entities. The mapping of physical device antennas to logical entities may depend on the device implementation. Communicating (receiving or transmitting) on at least a subset of the antenna elements or antenna ports (also referred to herein as active elements) of the antenna panel that are used to radiate energy requires biasing or powering the RF chain, which results in current consumption or power consumption in the device associated with the antenna panel (including power amplifier / low noise amplifier (LNA) power consumption associated with the antenna elements or antenna ports). The phrase "active for radiating energy" as used herein does not imply being limited to transmit functionality, but also includes receive functionality. Thus, active antenna elements for radiating energy may be coupled to a transmitter to transmit RF energy, or to a receiver to receive RF energy, or generally to a transceiver to perform its intended function, either simultaneously or sequentially. Communicating over the active elements of the antenna panel may enable a radiation pattern or beam.
[0116] In some implementations, depending on the implementation of the device, the "device panel" may have at least one of the following functions as the following operational roles: antenna group unit for independently controlling its Tx beam, antenna group unit for independently controlling its transmission power, antenna group unit for independently controlling its transmission timing. The "device panel" may be transparent to the gNB. For certain (certain) conditions, the gNB or the network may assume that the mapping between the physical antennas of the device and the logical entity "device panel" will not change. For example, the condition may include until the next update or report of the device, or include the duration for which the gNB assumes that the mapping will not change. The device may report its capabilities about the "device panel" to the gNB or the network. The device capabilities may include at least the number of "device panels". In one implementation, the device may support UL transmissions from one beam within a panel, or for multiple panels, more than one beam (one beam per panel) may be used for UL transmissions. In another implementation, each panel may support or use multiple beams for UL transmissions.
[0117] In some of the described implementations, the antenna ports are defined so that the channel that transmits the symbol on the antenna port can be inferred from the channel that transmits the other symbol on the same antenna port. If the large-scale properties of the channel that transmits the symbol on one antenna port can be inferred from the channel that transmits the symbol on the other antenna port, the two antenna ports are called QCL. The large-scale properties include one or more of the following items: delay spread, Doppler spread, Doppler shift, average gain, average delay, and spatial Rx parameters. The two antenna ports can be quasi-colocated with respect to a subset of the large-scale properties, and different subsets of the large-scale properties can be indicated by the QCL type. The QCL type can indicate which channel properties are the same between two reference signals (e.g., on two antenna ports). Therefore, the reference signals can be linked to each other based on the UE's assumptions about its channel statistics or QCL properties. For example, qcl-Type can take one of the following values: 'QCL-TypeA': {Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, delay spread}; 'QCL-TypeB': {Doppler shift, Doppler spread}; 'QCL-TypeC': {Doppler shift, average delay}; 'QCL-TypeD': {spatial Rx parameters}.
[0118] The spatial Rx parameters may include one or more of the following: angle of arrival (AoA), main AoA, average AoA, angular spread, power angular spectrum (PAS) of AoA, average AoD (angle of departure), PAS of AoD, transmit / receive channel correlation, transmit / receive beamforming, spatial channel correlation, etc. QCL-TypeA, QCL-TypeB, and QCL-TypeC may be applicable to all carrier frequencies, but QCL-TypeD may only be applicable to higher carrier frequencies (e.g., mmWave, FR2 and above), where the UE may not be able to perform omnidirectional transmission, that is, the UE needs to form a beam for directional transmission. For QCL-TypeD between two reference signals A and B, reference signal A is considered to be spatially collocated with reference signal B, and the UE may assume that reference signals A and B can be received with the same spatial filter (e.g., using the same receive (RX) beamforming weights).
[0119] An "antenna port" according to the implementation may be a logical port, which may correspond to a beam (generated by beamforming) or may correspond to a physical antenna on a device. In some implementations, a physical antenna may be directly mapped to a single antenna port, where the antenna port corresponds to an actual physical antenna. Alternatively, a set or subset of physical antennas, or an antenna set or an antenna array or an antenna subarray may be mapped to one or more antenna ports after applying complex weights, cyclic delays, or both to the signal on each physical antenna. A physical antenna set may have antennas from a single module or panel or from multiple modules or panels. The weights may be fixed as in an antenna virtualization scheme such as cyclic delay diversity (CDD). The process for deriving antenna ports from physical antennas may be specific to the device implementation and transparent to other devices.
[0120] In some of the described implementations, a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state associated with a target transmission may indicate parameters for configuring a quasi-colocation relationship between a target transmission (e.g., a target RS for a DM-RS port of the target transmission during a transmission opportunity) and (multiple) source reference signals (e.g., SSB / CSI-RS / SRS) with respect to (multiple) quasi-colocation type parameters indicated in the corresponding TCI state. The TCI describes which reference signals are used as QCL sources and which QCL properties may be derived from each reference signal. A device may receive a configuration of multiple transmission configuration indicator states for a serving cell for transmission on the serving cell. In some of the described implementations, the TCI state includes at least one source RS to provide a reference (UE assumption) for determining the QCL and / or spatial filter.
[0121] In some of the described implementations, the spatial relationship information associated with the target transmission may indicate parameters for configuring a spatial setting between the target transmission and a reference RS (e.g., SSB / CSI-RS / SRS). For example, the device may send the target transmission using the same spatial domain filter as used to receive the reference RS (e.g., a DL RS such as SSB / CSI-RS). In another example, the device may send the target transmission using the same spatial domain transmission filter as used to transmit the reference RS (e.g., a UL RS such as SRS). The device may receive a configuration of multiple spatial relationship information configurations for a serving cell to transmit on the serving cell.
[0122] In some described implementations, if the device is configured with separate DL / UL TCI via RRC signaling, a UL TCI state is provided. The UL TCI state may include a source reference signal that provides a reference for determining UL spatial transmission filters (e.g., dynamically granted / configured grant-based PUSCH, dedicated PUCCH resources) for UL transmissions in a component carrier (CC) or across a set of configured CCs / BWPs.
[0123] In some of the described implementations, if the device is configured with a joint DL / UL TCI via RRC signaling (e.g., the configuration of the joint TCI or separate DL / UL TCI is based on RRC signaling), a joint DL / UL TCI state is provided. The joint DL / UL TCI state refers to at least a common source reference RS for determining DL QCL information and UL spatial transmission filters. The source RS determined from the indicated joint (or common) TCI state provides a QCLD type indication (e.g., for a device-specific physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) / physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)) and is used to determine a CC or UL spatial transmission filter across a set of configured CCs / BWPs (e.g., UE-specific PUSCH / PUCCH). In one example, the UL spatial transmission filter is derived from a DL QCL D-type RS in a joint TCI state. The spatial setting of the UL transmission can be based on a spatial relationship with a reference to a source RS configured with a qcl-Type set to 'typeD' in the joint TCI state.
