Lithographic printing plate precursors and methods of use

By using an aluminum-containing substrate and an infrared radiation-sensitive image recording layer in the lithographic printing plate precursor, which contains free radical initiators and specific color-changing compounds, the problem of weak and unstable printing in the prior art is solved, achieving a strong and stable printing effect at low energy, improving imaging speed and image durability, while reducing costs.

Abstract

The IR-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursor uses a unique IR-sensitive image recording layer to provide stable printing. This IR-sensitive layer comprises: component (1) a free radical initiator composition; component (2) a free radical polymerizable composition; and component (3) a color-changing compound of structure (I) having an indene structure in a conjugated chain between aromatic end groups. Specific groups, such as halogen groups, are directly or indirectly connected to this indene structure. The IR-sensitive image recording composition and the IR-sensitive image recording layer also contain one or more borate ions. After infrared imaging, these precursors exhibit desirable fresh or initial printing and printing after dark storage. The precursor is machine-developable.
