[0068] Figure 3 is along Figure 1 A cross-sectional view of a display device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure taken along a cutting line 3-3.

[0069] Reference Figure 3 , a display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include a display panel 10 , a cover member 20 , and a rear frame 30 .

[0070] The display apparatus 100 may include a display panel 10 , a cover member 20 disposed on the display panel 10 , and a rear frame 30 disposed under the display panel 10 to support the cover member 20 and the display panel 10 .

[0071] The display panel 10 may include a flexible board. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The display panel 10 may include a display area (active area) AA in its front surface, and a frame area BZA, and the frame area BZA may include a bending area BA. The frame area BZA may extend along the outermost edge of the display device 100 to surround the display area AA.

[0072] The display panel 10 may include a first area 1A as a front surface of the display panel 10, and a second area 2A as a rear surface of the display panel. In this regard, the second area 2A may include a curved area BA. In the display panel 10. The first area 1A, the curved area BA, and the second area 2A may be arranged in the up-down direction. For example, the display panel 10 may have a flat shape in the first area 1A, and a curved shape in the curved area BA. In the second area 2A, one side of the second area 2A may be curved, and the other side of the second area 2A may be flat.

[0073] The bending area BA may be disposed between the first area 1A and the second area 2A in the up-down direction. The bending area BA may be disposed between the first area 1A and the second area 2A in the up-down direction to partially overlap with the second area 2A.

[0074] The cover member 20 may include a cover window and a cover glass. The display module 17 may be disposed between a lower surface of the cover member 20 and an upper surface of the rear frame 30.

[0075] The display module 17 may include a structure in which an optical adhesive layer 15 is provided on top of the display panel 10 and a reinforcing member 11 is provided below the display panel 10. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. For example, the display module 17 may include a structure from a rear frame 30 located below the display panel 10 to a cover member 20 located on top of the display panel 10.

[0076] The cover member 20 may be provided to constitute the front surface of the display module 17 and may be used to protect the display module 17 from external impact. The cover member 20 transmits light emitted from the display panel 10 therethrough so that an image displayed on the display panel 10 is visible to a viewer in front of the display device. The cover member 20 may be made of one of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), cycloolefin polymer (COP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyimide (PI), and polyaramid (PA) having impact resistance and light transmittance. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0077] An edge portion of the cover member 20 may have a rounded shape bent toward the rear surface or the lower surface of the display module 17 .

[0078] In this case, the cover member 20 may be disposed to cover at least a partial area of a low-level side surface of the display module 17 , thereby protecting not only the front surface but also the side surfaces of the display module 17 from external impact.

[0079] Since the cover member 20 may include a display area AA for displaying a picture, the cover member may be made of a transparent material such as a cover glass to display the picture passing therethrough. For example, the cover member 20 may be made of transparent plastic, glass, or tempered glass. However, the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0080] The rear frame 30 may be disposed on a rear surface or a lower surface of the display module 17 to accommodate the display module 17 therein, and may be in contact with the cover member 20 to support the cover member 20 .

[0081] The rear frame 30 may serve as a case constituting an outer rear surface of the display device 100 and may be made of a metal material or an epoxy-based resin material. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0082] In this case, the rear frame 30 may be used as a housing constituting the appearance of the display device 100. However, the embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited thereto. For example, the rear frame 30 may be used as a middle frame as a housing protecting the rear surface of the display module 17.

[0083] like Figure 3As shown in , the front surface of the cover member 20 may be divided into a display area AA and a non-display area NA as an area other than the display area AA. The non-display area NA may be formed along an edge of the display area AA in the front surface of the cover member 20. The non-display area NA may include a bezel area BZA.

[0084] The display module 17 may be coupled to a rear surface (or lower surface) of the cover member 20 .

[0085] The display module 17 coupled to the rear surface (or lower surface) of the cover member 20 may have a bending area BA. The bending area BA may be located below the cover member 20 in the −Z-axis direction in the bezel area BZA.

[0086] In order to reduce the frame area BZA, it is necessary to reduce the curvature radius of the bent area BA.

[0087] The radius of curvature of the bending area BA is proportional to the total thickness of the display module 17, and thus proportional to the total thickness of the display device 100. Therefore, when the total thickness increases, the radius of curvature of the bending area BA increases. When the total thickness decreases, the radius of curvature of the bending area BA decreases.

[0088] Therefore, in order to prevent the size of the bezel area BZA from increasing, the overall thickness of the display module 17 needs to be prevented from increasing, and thus the overall thickness of the display device 100 needs to be prevented from increasing.

[0089] exist Figure 3 , the first region 1A may have an up-and-down structure from the display panel 10 displaying an image to the cover member 20 in an upward direction, and thus may be a display region in an up-and-down direction.

[0090] The second region 2A may be located below the first region 1A and may include the rear frame 30 on which no image is displayed. The bending region may be provided between the first region and the second region in the up-and-down direction.

[0091] In the first area 1A, the display module 17 may have: an optical control layer 14, which is disposed on the top of the display panel 10 and is bonded to the display panel 10 through a first adhesive layer AD1; and a cover member 20, which is disposed on the top of the optical control layer 14 and is bonded to the optical control layer 14 through an optical adhesive layer 15.

[0092] The optical control layer 14 may include, for example, a polarization layer POL. The optical control layer 14 prevents the contrast CR from being reduced due to external light. In the display device 100 according to the present disclosure, the display panel may be implemented as an OLED panel. In this case, when the display panel operates in an operation mode of displaying an image, the optical control layer 14 that blocks external light incident from the outside may be placed in the travel path of light emitted by the display panel, thereby improving the contrast. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the optical control layer 14 is not an essential component and the optical control layer 14 may not be included. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0093] The optical adhesive layer 15 may include a transparent optical adhesive OCA (optically clear adhesive). The optical adhesive layer 15 may have a thickness of, for example, 100 to 300 μm. When the thickness of the optical adhesive layer 15 is less than 100 μm, the adhesive strength becomes weak, making it difficult to modularize the cover member 20 and the first and second support members BP1 and BP2. When the optical adhesive layer 15 has a thickness exceeding 300 μm, the display device 100 may not bend. Therefore, the optical adhesive layer 15 may have a thickness in the range of 100 to 300 μm.

[0094] Despite Figure 3 Although not shown in the figure, a black matrix may be provided on the rear surface (or lower surface) of the cover member 20. The black matrix may be provided in the non-display area NA or the bezel area BZA where light is not transmitted, and serves to prevent light leakage.

[0095] The display module 17 may have, in the curved area BA, a first supporting member (back plate 1) BP1 disposed below the display panel 10 and bonded to the first supporting member BP1 through a second adhesive layer AD2, and a plate 12 disposed below the first supporting member BP1 and bonded to the first supporting member BP1 through a third adhesive layer AD3. The first supporting member BP1 may be disposed below the display panel 10 to supplement the rigidity of the display panel 10, and may maintain the display panel 10 disposed in the first area 1A in a flat state.

[0096] A connection member (frame bending fixing tape) 13 may be disposed under the board 12 and adhered to the board 12 through a fourth adhesive layer AD4, and a second supporting member BP2 may be disposed under the connection member 13 and adhered to the connection member 13 through a fifth adhesive layer AD5.

[0097] The board 12 may support the display panel 10 and the first support member BP1, and thus may be referred to as a support member. The board 12 may include a heat sink, and may include a metal layer from which external light may be reflected. However, the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The fifth adhesive layer AD5 may include a double-sided tape, a double-sided foam adhesive tape, or a double-sided foam adhesive pad. Although not shown in the drawings, the board 12 may include an embossed layer in contact with the first support member BP1; a buffer layer disposed below the embossed layer and having an impact mitigation function; and a heat dissipation layer disposed below the buffer layer and having a heat dissipation function.

[0098] The connection member 13 may fix the curved state of the bezel. The connection member 13 may be located between the second support member BP2 and the board 12, and may fix the curved state of the display panel 10 between the first area 1A and the second area 2A.

[0099] In the display device 100, the second supporting member BP2 may be disposed in the second region 2A of the display module 17. The second supporting member BP2 may be disposed on top of the curved portion of the display panel 10. The second supporting member BP2 may support the display panel 10 in the second region 2A. To this end, the lower surface of the second supporting member BP2 may face the upper surface of the curved portion of the display panel 10 and may be attached to the upper surface of the curved portion of the display panel 10 through the sixth adhesive layer AD6.

[0100] The second support member BP2 may be spaced apart from the first support member BP1 by a distance in the up-down direction. In a region where the first and second support members BP1 and BP2 are spaced apart from each other, a lower surface of the first support member BP1 and an upper surface of the second support member BP2 may face each other.

[0101] The support members BP1, BP2, and 12 may support the display panel 10. The support members BP1, BP2, and 12 may include a first support member BP1, a second support member BP2, and a plate 12. The first support member BP1 may support a portion of the display panel 10 in the first area 1A and the bending area BA. The second support member BP2 may support a portion of the display panel 10 in the second area A2. The plate 12 may be disposed between the first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2 to support a flat surface of the display panel 10.

[0102] When a single supporting member extending in the first area 1A, the bending area BA, and the second area 2A is cut and removed in the bending area BA, the first supporting member BP1 may be located on top of the plate 12 and below the display panel 10 in the first area 1A, and the second supporting member BP2 may be located below the plate 12 in the second area 2A including the bent portion of the display panel 10. In this regard, when the supporting member is cut and removed in the bending area BA, the display panel 10 is exposed in the bending area BA, and then the reinforcing member 11 and the display panel 10 in the bending area BA are bent, and then the connecting member 13 is bonded to the second supporting member BP2 through the fifth adhesive layer AD5.

[0103] The first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2 may have the same height. Alternatively, the first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2 may have different heights. In the present disclosure, the heights of the first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2 are not limited thereto.

[0104] Each of the first supporting member BP1 and the second supporting member BP2 may have a strength and a thickness equal to or greater than a predetermined value to supplement the rigidity of the display panel 10. Since the first supporting member BP1 is formed to have a strength and a thickness equal to or greater than a predetermined value to supplement the rigidity of the display panel 10, the first supporting member BP1 may not be formed on the curved portion of the display panel 10 in the curved area BA and the second area 2A. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0105] Based on the shape of the display panel 100 before being bent, the second support member BP2 may be disposed below the display panel 100 to be horizontally spaced apart from the first support member BP1. The second support member BP2 may be disposed below the display panel 100 and may supplement the rigidity of the display panel 100 and maintain the display panel 100 in a flat state. Since the second support member BP2 is formed to have a strength and thickness equal to or greater than a predetermined value to supplement the rigidity of the display panel 100, the second support member BP2 may not be formed on a portion of the display panel 100 corresponding to a portion of the bending area BA. However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0106] After the display panel 100 is bent, the second supporting member BP2 may be disposed on the top of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA and the second area 2A.

[0107] The plate 12 having a flat shape may be disposed between the first supporting member BP1 and the second supporting member BP2.

[0108] The plate 12 may support the flat surface of the display panel 10 while being disposed between the first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2. The plate 12 may include, for example, metal to enhance the supporting force of the first support member BP1 and the second support member BP2. In addition, the plate 12 may include one or a combination of stainless steel (SUS), glass, ceramic, and metal. In addition, the plate 12 may be made of a plastic material including at least one of polycarbonate (PC), polyimide (PI), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). However, embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0109] In the display module 17, in the second area 2A, the bent portion of the display panel 10 and the pad PAD may be disposed under the second supporting member BP2. The pad PAD may be bonded to the second supporting member BP2 through the sixth adhesive layer AD6.

[0110] When the display panel 10 is bent in the bending area BA in a state where the pad PAD is disposed below the display panel 10, the display panel 10 may receive a strong restoring force that restores it to a state before bending. When the strong restoring force acts on the display panel 10, the pad PAD may not be fixed and may warp.

[0111] In order to solve this problem, the connecting member 13 may be arranged between the rear surface (or lower surface) of the display panel 10 and the pad PAD and used to fix the curved portion of the display panel 10 so that the display panel can maintain its curved shape. The connecting member 13 may be formed to have a constant thickness and may be implemented as a double-sided tape with strong adhesion that can fix the pad PAD and the front of the display panel 100 to each other. The connecting member 13 may include at least one layer and may be made of at least one of OCA (optically clear adhesive), OCR (optically clear resin) or pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The connecting member 13 may exist in the form of a foam tape or foam pad having an impact absorbing function or a double-sided tape having conductivity. For example, the double-sided conductive tape may include an upper adhesive layer, a lower adhesive layer, and a conductive layer between the upper adhesive layer and the lower adhesive layer, wherein each of the upper adhesive layer and the lower adhesive layer may include a conductive material.

[0112] The curved reinforcement member 11 may be disposed under the curved portion of the display panel 10. The curved reinforcement member 11 may include, for example, a micro coating layer. The micro coating layer MCL may be referred to as a micro covering layer MCL. The curved reinforcement member 11 may be disposed on the outer surface of the display panel 10 in the curved area BA.

[0113] The reinforcement member 11 may extend to cover the display panel 10 in the bending area BA, may cover a portion of the display panel 10 in the first area 1A adjoining the bending area BA, and may cover a bent portion of the display panel 10 in the second area 2A.

[0114] The reinforcing member 11 improves the deformation of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA and allows the display panel 100 to bend with a constant curvature. The reinforcing member 11 may be composed of a resin layer to compensate for the weakening of the rigidity caused by the bending of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA. In addition, the reinforcing member 11 may be made of a polymer such as polyimide (PI) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET). When the reinforcing member 11 is implemented as a polymer film, the reinforcing member 11 may have a modulus of about 1 GPa to about 10 GPa. However, the embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto.

[0115] The reinforcing member 11 may include a resin, for example, an ultraviolet (UV)-curable acrylic resin. The embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. Specifically, the reinforcing member 11 may be made of a cured product of the resin obtained by coating the resin and performing a curing process on the coated resin. When the resin is an ultraviolet curable resin, ultraviolet rays may be used to cure the resin.

[0116] The reinforcement member 11 may be disposed on the outer surface of the display panel 100 to cover various signal lines between the encapsulation part and the pads of the display panel 100. Therefore, the reinforcement member 11 may prevent moisture from penetrating into the signal lines while protecting the signal lines from external impacts.

[0117] In addition, the reinforcing member 11 may be provided on the outer surface of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA, and thus the rigidity of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA where the supporting member does not exist may be supplemented. The supporting member may be adhered to the lower surface of the display panel 100 so that the supporting member does not exist in the area corresponding to the bending area BA. Therefore, when the display panel is bent, the first supporting member BP1 may remain on the lower surface of the display panel 100 in the first area 1A, and the second supporting member BP2 may remain on the top surface of the bent portion of the display panel 100 in the second area 2A. Therefore, the rigidity of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA where the supporting member does not exist may be weakened. Therefore, the rigidity of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA may be supplemented by the reinforcing member 11 attached to the outer surface of the display panel 100 in the bending area BA.

[0118] The rear frame 30 may be disposed under the reinforcement member 11 , under the cover member 20 , and under the curved portion of the display panel 10 .

[0119] The rear frame 30 may support the bezel area BZA of the cover member 20 and may support the first area 1A, the second area 2A, and the bending area BA of the display panel 10. To this end, the rear frame 30 may contact the cover member 20 in the first area 1A, may contact the side surface of the reinforcement member 11 in the bending area BA, may contact the bottom of the reinforcement member 11 in the second area 2A, and may contact the curved portion of the display panel 100 in the second area 2A.

[0120] The rear frame 30 may include epoxy resin. The epoxy resin may include epoxy-based resin.

[0121] The rear frame 30 may have a flat portion and a vertical portion protruding vertically upward from the edge of the flat portion. The flat portion of the rear frame 30 may be attached to the rear surface of the reinforcing member 110 by means of a resin or adhesive tape. The embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited thereto. The top of the vertical portion of the rear frame 30 may be attached to the cover member 20 using, for example, a double-sided tape.

[0122] The rear frame 30 has a box shape with an open top, and can accommodate the display module 17 therein. The rear frame 30 may include metal. In this case, the rear frame 30 made of metal can accommodate components including the display panel 10 provided on the rear surface (or lower surface) of the cover member 20 therein, and can protect the components.

[0123] Alternatively, the rear frame 30 may be made of a plastic material such as resin having a shock absorbing function. In this case, since a shock caused by an external force above a certain pressure is applied to the rear frame 30, the shock can be mitigated by the shock absorbing function of the plastic material. Therefore, the buffering effect of the rear frame 30 can prevent cracks from occurring in the display panel 10 and can protect the display panel 10.

[0124] When the rear frame 30 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is made of epoxy resin, the rear frame may be thinner and the bending area BA may be effectively protected, thereby realizing a narrow bezel of the display device 100 .

[0125] When the rear frame 30 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is made of epoxy resin, the display module of the display device 100 including the display panel 100 may not have an air gap, so that micro movement of the display module may not occur. Therefore, the rear frame 30 may fix the display module in a more durable manner. In addition, referring to Figure 3 In the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the bending area BA may include a third area (potting area) 32 defined inwardly of the bending portion of the display panel 10 , and a fourth area (non-empty area) 33 .

[0126] A third region (potting region) 32 defined at an inner side of the bent portion of the display panel 10 may be filled with a resin (potting resin) including an organic insulating material.

[0127] In this regard, the resin may include an organic insulating material including, for example, polyacrylate and polyimide.

[0128] The fourth region 33 may refer to a region defined to the inside of the bent portion of the display panel 10 excluding the third region (potting region) 32 filled with the resin (potting resin).

[0129] Therefore, the bending area BA of the display panel 10 formed after the display panel 10 is bent may include the third area 32 and the fourth area 33. In this regard, in the bending area BA of the display panel 10 formed after the display panel 10 is bent, the resin filling the third area 32 may flow into the fourth area 33 to fill the fourth area 33 so that there is no air gap.

[0130] The figure does not show the process of filling the third area 32 with resin. However, in this process, a first weir and a second weir are respectively provided at opposite ends of the third area 32 in the bending area BA, and the resin may fill the area between the first weir and the second weir defined inwardly by the bending portion of the display panel 10 in the bending area BA.

[0131] Figure 4 is a side view showing a display device according to another embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0132] Reference Figure 4 In a display device according to another embodiment of the present disclosure, different from the above-mentioned Figure 2 The rear cover 120 is coupled to the mounting portion 130 through a connecting portion 124 having a shock absorbing space 122 defined therein.

[0133] In this regard, the connection portion 124 may be made of the same material as the rear cover 120. The connection portion 124 and the rear cover 120 may be integrally formed with each other as a single body by injection molding, thereby defining a shock absorbing space 122 therebetween.

[0134] The impact absorbing space 122 defined between the rear cover 120 and the connection portion 124 may serve to absorb an impact force applied to the rear cover 120 when a driver or a passenger's head hits the cover glass module 110 or the rear cover 120 in the event of a vehicle collision.

[0135] This configuration can minimize or prevent head injuries to a driver or passenger riding in the vehicle.

[0136] Figure 5is a block diagram schematically showing an internal structure of a display device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0137] Reference Figure 5 According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a display device 100 may include: a brightness controller 114, a display panel 10 in which a plurality of pixels are defined, a scan driver 112, a data driver 113, a light emitting controller 115, a power supply 116 connected to the display panel 10, and a timing controller 117.

[0138] The brightness controller 114 supplies one gamma group selected from among a plurality of gamma groups each including a plurality of gamma data to the data driver 113 , and supplies dimming data DD corresponding to the selected gamma group to the light emitting controller 115 .

[0139] The display panel 10 may include a plurality of pixels PX. In this regard, each pixel PX may have an organic light emitting diode.

[0140] In the display panel 10 , a plurality of gate lines GL and a plurality of data lines DL cross each other, and each pixel PX is defined at each crossing point between the plurality of gate lines GL and the plurality of data lines DL.

[0141] That is, in the display panel 10, a plurality of gate lines GL and a plurality of data lines DL are formed on an organic substrate or a plastic substrate and cross each other. Each of the pixels PX corresponding to red R, green G, and blue B is defined at each intersection between the gate lines GL and the data lines DL.

[0142] The scan lines SL and the data lines DL of the display panel 10 may be respectively connected to a scan driver 112 and a data driver 113 formed outside the display panel 10. In addition, in the display panel 10, power voltage supply lines ELVDD, Vini2, and ELVSS extending in a direction parallel to the data lines DL are connected to each pixel PX.

[0143] In addition, although not shown, each pixel PX includes at least one organic electroluminescent diode, a capacitor, a switching thin film transistor, and a driving thin film transistor. In this regard, the organic electroluminescent diode may be composed of a first electrode (hole injection electrode), an organic compound layer, and a second electrode (electron injection electrode).

[0144] In addition to the light-emitting layer that emits light, the organic compound layer may further include various organic layers for effectively transporting holes or electron carriers to the light-emitting layer. The various organic layers may include a hole injection layer and a hole transport layer between the first electrode and the light-emitting layer, and an electron injection layer and an electron transport layer between the second electrode and the light-emitting layer.

[0145] In addition, the switching thin film transistor and the driving thin film transistor are connected to the scan line SL and the control signal supply line CL and the data line DL. The switching thin film transistor is turned on according to the gate voltage input to the scan line SL. In addition, the data voltage input to the data line DL is transmitted to the driving thin film transistor. The capacitor is connected and arranged between the thin film transistor and the power line, and is charged by the data voltage transmitted from the thin film transistor and maintained for one frame.

[0146] In addition, the driving thin film transistor is connected to the power line and the capacitor, and provides the organic electroluminescent diode with a drain current corresponding to the voltage between the gate and the source. Therefore, the organic electroluminescent diode emits light using the drain current. In this regard, the driving thin film transistor includes a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode. The anode of the organic electroluminescent diode is connected to the electrode of the driving thin film transistor.

[0147] The scan driver 112 applies scan signals to the plurality of scan lines SL. That is, the scan driver 112 sequentially applies a gate voltage to each pixel PX on a single horizontal line basis in response to the gate control signal GCS. The scan driver 112 may be implemented as a shift register having multiple stages that sequentially output a high-level gate voltage per horizontal period.

[0148] The data driver 113 applies data signals to the plurality of data lines DL. That is, the data driver 113 receives the image signal of the digital waveform applied from the timing controller 117 and converts the image signal into an analog data voltage having a grayscale value that can be processed by the pixel PX. In addition, in response to the data control signal DCS input thereto, the data driver 113 supplies the data voltage to each pixel PX through the data line DL.

[0149] In this regard, the data driver 113 converts the image signal into the data voltage using a plurality of reference voltages supplied from a reference voltage power supply (not shown).

[0150] As described above, the brightness controller 114 supplies one gamma group selected from among a plurality of gamma groups each including a plurality of gamma data to the data driver 113 , and applies the dimming data DD corresponding to the selected gamma group to the light emitting controller 115 .

[0151] The light emitting controller 115 applies light emitting control signals EL1 to ELn corresponding to the dimming data DD to a plurality of pixels.

[0152] The power supply 116 provides a high power supply voltage ELVDD, a low power supply voltage ELVSS, and an initialization voltage Vini2 to each pixel.

[0153] The timing controller 117 controls the scan driver 112 and the data driver 113. That is, the timing controller 117 receives an image signal as applied externally, and timing signals such as a clock signal, a vertical synchronization signal, and a horizontal synchronization signal, and generates a gate control signal GCS and a data control signal DCS.

[0154] In this regard, the horizontal synchronization signal indicates the duration required to display one line of the picture. The vertical synchronization signal indicates the duration required to display one frame of the picture. In addition, the clock signal refers to a reference for generating control signals for the gate and driver.

[0155] In one example, although not shown, the timing controller 117 is connected to an external system through a predefined interface and receives the image-related signal and the timing signal output therefrom at high speed without noise. The interface may adopt an LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) scheme or a TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) interface scheme.

[0156] In addition, the timing controller 117 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may incorporate therein a microchip (not shown) equipped with a compensation model, which generates a compensation value for the data voltage according to the current deviation of each pixel. Therefore, the voltage compensation value may be applied to the image signal to be provided to the data driver 113, so that the data voltage provided from the data driver 113 is compensated based on the voltage compensation value.

[0157] In this regard, the microchip (not shown) may have a compensation model established by learning, for example, the temperature, weighted time, average brightness, applied data signal, and initial data signal of each pixel using a deep learning scheme. In this regard, the data signal refers to a data voltage. In addition, the compensation model may be established by a computer simulator that learns the temperature, weighted time, average brightness, applied data signal, and initial data signal of each pixel using a deep learning scheme.

[0158] Therefore, the microchip may input the data signal to the compensation model and thus generate the compensated data signal. The timing controller 117 applies the generated compensated data signal to the data driver 113.

[0159] In one example, when the second support member BP2 is disposed on one surface of the pad of the display panel, the driving integrated circuit may be disposed on the other surface of the pad of the display panel 10 .

[0160] The driving integrated circuit may be mounted on the display panel 10 in a chip bonding process or a surface mounting process. Based on the bending state, the driving integrated circuit may be disposed below the display panel 10. For example, the driving integrated circuit may be disposed on the bottom of the pad.

[0161] In this case, a flexible printed circuit board (not shown) may be disposed between the pad and the driving integrated circuit so that the driving integrated circuit may be located on a rear surface (or lower surface) of the flexible printed circuit board (FPCB).

[0162] The driver integrated circuit generates a data signal and a gate control signal based on the image data and timing synchronization signal provided from the external host driving system. Then, the driver integrated circuit provides the data signal to the data line of each pixel through the pad, and can provide the gate control signal to the gate driving circuit (not shown) through the pad.

[0163] The driving integrated circuit may be mounted in a chip mounting area defined in the display panel 10 , and may be electrically connected to the pads, and may be connected to a signal line connected to each gate driver and a pixel array provided in the display panel 10 .

[0164] Since the driving integrated circuit generates a large amount of heat, it is necessary to effectively dissipate the heat from the driving integrated circuit. The heat from the driving integrated circuit can be mainly dissipated through the support member.

[0165] The pad PAD may be provided on a side of the display panel 10 where the driving integrated circuit is mounted.

[0166] The pads PAD on the rear surface of the display panel 10 may be electrically connected to a flexible printed circuit board on which a circuit board is mounted.

[0167] One side of the flexible printed circuit board may be electrically connected to a pad disposed on one side of the display panel 10 in a film attachment process using a conductive adhesive layer. The flexible printed circuit board may be located on a rear surface (or lower surface) of the display panel 10.

[0168] In this case, the conductive adhesive layer may include, for example, an anisotropic conductive film (ACF).

[0169] The circuit board may provide image data and a timing synchronization signal provided from a host driving system to the driving integrated circuit, and may provide it with a voltage required to drive each of the pixel array, the gate driver, and the driving integrated circuit.

[0170] The flexible printed circuit board having one side connected to the display panel 10 may be formed to extend together with the display panel 10 such that the flexible printed circuit board may be bent toward a rear surface (or lower surface) of a front portion of the display panel 10 .

[0171] The flexible printed circuit board having one side connected to the display panel 10 may extend from the one side thereof so as to be located on the rear surface (or lower surface) of the display panel 10 not covered by the pad PAD of the display panel 10 .

[0172] Therefore, at least a portion of the flexible printed circuit board may contact the rear surface (or lower surface) of the display panel 10 .

[0173] The display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure refers to a display device having flexibility, and may include a bendable display device, a rollable display device that can be rolled up, an unbreakable display device that is not broken, and a foldable display device that can be folded.

[0174] The driver integrated circuit may be implemented as a TFT (thin film transistor) in the non-display area NA. The driver integrated circuit may be referred to as a GIP (gate in panel) circuit. The GIP circuit includes a gate driver of a GIP structure, wherein the gate driver is implemented as a bottom gate thin film transistor (BG-T), and the source and drain metal films of the bridge wire extend to be connected to the drain electrode of the BG thin film transistor.

[0175] In addition, some components such as a data driver IC may be mounted on a separate printed circuit board, or may be bonded to a connection interface (pad / bump, pin, etc.) provided in the non-display area NA using a circuit film such as an FPCB (flexible printed circuit board), COF (chip on film), or TCP (tape carrier package). The non-display area NA may be bent together with the connection interface so that a printed circuit (COF, PCB, etc.) may be provided on the rear surface (or back surface) of the display device 100.

[0176] The display device 100 according to the present disclosure may include various additional components for generating various signals or driving the pixels PX in the display area. The additional components for driving the pixels may include an inverter circuit, a multiplexer, an electrostatic discharge circuit. The display device 100 according to the present disclosure may include additional components related to functions other than the function of driving the pixels. For example, the display device 100 according to the present disclosure may include additional components that provide a touch sensing function, a user authentication function such as fingerprint recognition, a multi-level pressure sensing function, and a tactile feedback function. The above-mentioned additional components may be arranged in an external circuit connected to the non-display area NA and / or the connection interface.

[0177] According to the present disclosure, portions of the display device 100 may be bent along a bending line. The bending line may extend laterally, longitudinally, or diagonally. Thus, the display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may be bent in a combination of lateral, longitudinal, and diagonal directions based on the desired design.

[0178] According to the present disclosure, one or more corner edges of the display device 100 may be bent along a bending line so as to be away from the central portion. The bending line may be set closer to the edge of the display device 100, but may extend across the central portion, or may extend diagonally from one or more corners of the display device 100. This structure may enable the display device 100 to be implemented as a foldable display device or a display device that displays an image from each of two folding surfaces facing each other.

[0179] Since one or more parts of the display device 100 can be bent, the display device 100 according to the present disclosure can be divided into a substantially flat area and a curved area. A part of the display device 100 can be referred to as a substantially flat area. A part of the display device 100 can be bent at a predetermined angle, and the part can be referred to as a curved area or a curved area. The curved area includes a curved portion that is actually bent at a predetermined radius of curvature.

[0180] The term "substantially flat" means that a substantially flat region includes portions that are not completely flat. For example, in some embodiments, a concave central portion and a convex central portion may belong to a substantially flat region. One or more curved portions may exist next to the concave central portion or the convex central portion and bend inwardly or outwardly at an angle relative to the bending axis along the bending line. The radius of curvature of the curved region is smaller than the radius of curvature of the flat region. In other words, the term "substantially flat region" refers to a portion having a curvature that is smaller than the curvature of a portion adjacent thereto.

[0181] According to the position of the bending line, the portion on one side of the bending line is arranged toward the center of the display device 100, and the portion on the other side of the bending line is arranged toward the edge of the display device 100. The portion arranged toward the center of the display device 100 may be referred to as a central portion, and the portion arranged toward the edge of the display device 100 may be referred to as an edge portion. The central portion of the display device 100 may be substantially flat, and the edge portion may be a curved portion. However, this is not always the case. A substantially flat area may also be arranged in the edge portion. In addition, in some shapes of the display device 100, a curved portion may be arranged between two substantially flat areas.

[0182] When the non-display area NA is bent, the non-display area NA may be invisible or minimally visible to the viewer in front of the display device 100. A portion of the non-display area NA visible to the viewer in front of the display device 100 may be shielded by a frame. [0194] The third shock absorbing portion 136c has a right angle shape along the right angle shape of the combination of the coupling portion 132 and the supporting portion 134 of the mounting portion 130. Therefore, when an impact is applied to the rear cover 120, the vertical portion and the horizontal portion of the shock absorbing portion 136c may be folded relative to each other so that the impact force may be absorbed by the third shock absorbing portion 136c.

[0195] Reference Fig.6D The fourth shock absorbing portion 136 d of the mounting portion 130 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may include a plurality of metal particles or acrylic material particles therein.

[0196] In this regard, Figure 7 As shown in , each of the metal particles or acrylic material particles may have one of the following shapes: a spherical shape, a hexahedral shape, a golf ball shape, or a protrusion on a spherical surface. Figure 7 : is a diagram showing various shapes of each of metal particles or acrylic material particles included in a shock absorbing part according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0197] like Fig.6D and Figure 7 As shown in , the fourth shock absorbing part 136d may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may contain 10% to 30% by weight of metal particles or acrylic material particles therein. Based on the total weight of the shock absorbing part 136, the content of the metal or acrylic material particles may be in the range of 10% to 30% by weight.

[0198] like Figure 7 As shown in , each of the metal particles or acrylic material particles may have a shape of a sphere, a hexahedron, a golf ball, or a protrusion on the surface of a sphere. Each of the metal particles or acrylic material particles may have a size of 1 mm×1 mm.

[0199] Referring to Table 1 below, the general head impact standard HIC should meet the following conditions: when a head having a diameter of 165 mm, made of steel (STS) and weighing 6.8 kg moves at a speed of 19 km / h and hits the display device, the deceleration within a duration of 3 ms after the impact should not exceed a maximum value of 80 g (HIC<80).

[0200] Table 1

[0201]

[0202] like Figure 8 As shown in FIG. 1 , in the mounting portion 130 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the fourth shock absorbing portion 136 d may be made of an acrylic material ACR, aluminum AL, or a mixture of steel and a rubber material RUB. Figure 8 is a graph showing HIC values based on the content of metal or acrylic material added to a shock absorbing part according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 8 The fourth shock absorbing part 136d may be made of aluminum AL or a mixture of steel and rubber RUB. Figure 8, referring to Table 2 below, the G value of the rubber RUB is 54.5 (d). For example, when 10% of aluminum AL (or steel) is added, the fourth shock absorber 136d has a G value of 63.6 (e). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorber 136d increases by 9.1 and the G value increases by 16.7%. For example, when 20% of aluminum AL is added, the fourth shock absorber 136d has a G value of 78 (f). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorber 136d increases by 24 and the G value increases by 44%. For example, when 30% of aluminum AL is added, the fourth shock absorber 136d has a G value of 105 (g). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorber 136d increases by 50.5 and the G value increases by 92.7%. As described above, the fourth shock absorbing portion 136d is made of a mixture of aluminum AL or steel and rubber RUB in a mixing ratio ranging from 10% to 30%, the G value of the HIC can be increased to a value ranging from 16.7% to 92.7%, which confirms that the G value is increased compared to when only rubber is used.

[0203] Table 2

[0204] Aluminum AL addition rate 10% 20% 30% G value of rubber 54.5 54.5 54.5 Increase (+) / Decrease (-) the G value +9.1 +24 +50.5 Increase (+) / decrease (-) percentage +16.7% +44.0% +92.7% Acrylic acid ACR addition rate 10% 20% 30% G value of rubber 54.5 54.5 54.5 Increase (+) / Decrease (-) the G value -9.5 -24.5 -29.5 Increase (+) / decrease (-) percentage -17.4% -45.0% -54.1%

[0205] In addition, when the fourth shock absorbing portion 136d is made of a mixture of rubber RUB and acrylic material ACR, Figure 8 As shown in . For example, referring to Table 2 above, when 10% of the acrylic material ACR is added, the fourth shock absorbing part 136d has a G value of 45 (c). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorbing part 136d is reduced by 9.5 and the G value is reduced by 17.4%. For example, when 20% of the acrylic material ACR is added, the fourth shock absorbing part 136d has a G value of 30 (b). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorbing part 136d is reduced by 24.5 and the G value is reduced by 45%. For example, when 30% of the acrylic material ACR is added, the fourth shock absorbing part 136d has a G value of 25 (a). Therefore, compared with when it is formed only by rubber, the G value of the fourth shock absorbing part 136d is reduced by 29.5 and the G value is reduced by 54.1%.

[0206] As described above, the impact absorption amount of the fourth shock absorbing portion 136 d according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may be controlled based on the content of the metal or acrylic material.

[0207] 9A to 9D 2 are diagrams showing various embodiments of a shock absorbing portion of a mounting portion according to other embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0208] Reference Fig.9A, the mounting portion 130 according to another embodiment of the present disclosure may include a fifth shock absorbing portion 136e. The fifth shock absorbing portion 136e may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may have a flat strip shape or a rectangular shape in a plan view of the mounting portion. The fifth shock absorbing portion 136e may have two through holes defined therein. Each of the two through holes has a blank space having a width a.

[0209] Therefore, the cross-sectional shape of the fifth shock absorbing portion 136 e may be a right triangle such that the right angle thereof corresponds to the right angle defined by the coupling portion 132 and the supporting portion 134 of the mounting portion 130 .

[0210] Therefore, two through holes including a blank space may be formed in the fifth shock absorbing portion 136e. Therefore, due to not only the properties of the rubber material but also the presence of the two blank spaces, the fifth shock absorbing portion 136e may function as a shock absorber in the event of a vehicle collision.

[0211] Reference Fig. 9B According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the mounting portion 130 may include a sixth shock absorbing portion 136f. The sixth shock absorbing portion 136f may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may have a flat strip or rectangular shape in a plan view of the mounting portion, and may have an opening having a width b defined therein. Fig. 9B As shown in FIG. 1 , the opening may be located in an inner region of the sixth shock absorbing portion 136 f in a plan view of the mounting portion.

[0212] Therefore, when an impact is applied to the rear cover 120 during a vehicle collision, the sixth shock absorbing portion 136f absorbs the generated impact force due to the presence of the opening and serves as a buffer.

[0213] Reference Fig. 9C According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the mounting portion 130 may include a seventh shock absorbing portion 136g. The seventh shock absorbing portion 136g may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may have a flat strip or rectangular shape in a plan view of the mounting portion, and may have a plurality of through holes having a maximum width c defined therein. The through holes may be arranged in a matrix manner in a plan view of the mounting portion.

[0214] Therefore, when the vehicle collides, the impact force may be absorbed by the plurality of through holes defined in the seventh shock absorbing portion 136g of the mounting portion 130. Therefore, the seventh shock absorbing portion 136g functions as a buffer.

[0215] Reference Fig.9DAccording to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the mounting portion 130 may include an eighth shock absorbing portion 136h. The eighth shock absorbing portion 136h may be made of a flexible material such as rubber, and may have a flat strip shape or a rectangular shape in a plan view of the mounting portion. As the upper and lower ends of the eighth shock absorbing portion 136h contact the coupling portion 132 as a vertical portion and the support portion 134 as a horizontal portion, respectively, the eighth shock absorbing portion 136h may be convexly bent toward the contact point of the coupling portion 132 as a vertical portion and the support portion 134 as a horizontal portion.

[0216] Therefore, when an impact is applied to the rear cover 120 during a vehicle collision, the impact force may be absorbed due to the curved shape of the seventh shock absorbing portion 136g of the mounting portion 130. Therefore, the seventh shock absorbing portion 136g functions as a buffer.

[0217] As described above, the mounting portion 130 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include at least one of the first to eighth shock absorbing portions 136a to 136g. Fig.10 As shown in FIG. 1 , during a vehicle collision, even when an impact is applied to the display device 100, the impact can be absorbed by the shock absorbing portion 136 having at least one of the structures of the first to eighth shock absorbing portions 136a to 136g. Therefore, head injuries to a driver or a passenger can be prevented.

[0218] Fig.10 is a diagram illustrating an example of absorbing an impact when an impact is applied to a display device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure.

[0219] like Fig.10 As shown in , when a collision body 150 made of steel STS weighing 6.8Kg and having a diameter of 165mm moves at a speed of 19Km / h and hits a display device 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, due to the presence of the mounting portion 130 including the shock absorbing portion 136, the deceleration after the impact within a duration of 3ms does not exceed a maximum of 80g.
