[0010] Figure 5 This is a flowchart of an exemplary process for supporting analysis for AGF via NWDAF. Detailed Implementation

[0011] The specific implementation of the following example is shown in the accompanying drawings. The same reference numerals in different drawings can identify the same or similar elements.

[0012] SBA provides a cloud-native service framework in which mobile core network functions (e.g., authentication, mobility management, etc.) are supported by NFs (e.g., self-contained software applications running on hardware hosted in the cloud infrastructure). NFs interconnect on a logically shared infrastructure or service bus, providing accessible services to any other authorized NF through application programming interfaces (APIs) such as Service-Based Interfaces (SBIs). API specifications describe the services exposed by an NF to another NF, identifying the accessible service datasets and indicating authorized actions for the service data. Because NFs are loosely coupled and connected to API interfaces, they can be easily deployed anywhere as needed without affecting other NFs. New services or service instances can be published in a centralized repository (e.g., Network Repository Functions (NRFs)). These services can be made available to third-party applications through dedicated NFs (e.g., Network Open Functions (NEFs)). NEFs can provide secure APIs to external or internal applications for access to the core network services and functions supported by the NF.

[0013] Network Data Analysis Function (NWDAF) is designed to simplify the generation and consumption of core network data, generating insights and actions to enhance the end-user experience. NWDAF is a centralized data collection and source for real-time operational intelligence across network elements (NFs), unifying multiple tools into a single, logically centralized, distributed analytics solution. NWDAF can collect data from various NFs and application functions, Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) systems, Operations Support Systems, and more. NWDAF extracts analytical insights from data (e.g., telemetry data, measurements, reference data, etc.) and uses them as analytical services for other NFs and OAM. The output of NWDAF can be consumed by other NFs to enable rapid, automated control loops. In current SBAs, NWDAF provides an interface to all NFs.

[0014] Non-3GPP access equipment may include Wired Access Gateway Function (W-AGF), Non-3GPP Interoperability Function (N3IWF), Trusted Non-3GPP Gateway Function (TNGF), Trusted Radio Local Area Network (WLAN) Interoperability Function (TWIF), etc. Non-3GPP access equipment and radio access networks (RAN) (e.g., 3GPP access equipment) may interface with the 5G control plane solely via the N2 interface with the Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF). Neither non-3GPP nor 3GPP access equipment has a direct interface to the 5G control plane that provides any telemetry data (e.g., for analytics) to the NWDAF. The AMF is unaware of the resources utilized by non-3GPP and 3GPP access equipment, which limits the analytics data exchanged between the AMF and NWDAF. Therefore, current technologies used to support data analytics in SBA consume computing resources (e.g., processing resources, memory resources, communication resources, etc.), network resources, etc., which are associated with the failure to provide an interface between non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices and NWDAF, the failure to generate analytics related to the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices, and the provision of a poor user experience based on the failure to generate analytics related to the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices.

[0015] Some implementations described herein involve network devices supporting analysis for AGFs (e.g., non-3GPP access devices and / or 3GPP access devices) via NWDAF. For example, a network device (e.g., an Access Network Data Function (ANDF)) can establish a first interface with the NWDAF of the SBA and a second interface with both 3GPP and non-3GPP access devices. The network device can provide the NWDAF with definitions of analysis data generated by the NWDAF via the first interface, and can also provide the NWDAF with raw data of the SBA's operational status via the first interface, so that the NWDAF can calculate analysis data based on the definitions and the raw data of the operational status. The network device can receive analysis data from the NWDAF via the first interface and can perform one or more actions based on the analysis data.

[0016] In this way, network devices support analytics for AGF via NWDAF. For example, a network device (e.g., ANDF) may include an Application Function (AF) that uses SBA to interface with the NWDAF (e.g., similar to other NFs). The ANDF can define the analytics data to be generated by the NWDAF based on use cases and can provide the NWDAF with the necessary data to generate the defined analytics data. The ANDF can provide an Nxx socket interface between itself and each access device in both non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices. The Nxx socket interface can be based on User Datagram Protocol (UDP) / Internet Protocol (IP) and can be encrypted via Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS), Transport Layer Security (TLS), and / or IP Security (IPSec). Therefore, network equipment saves computing and network resources that would otherwise be consumed due to failure to provide an interface between non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices and NWDAF, failure to generate analyses related to the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices, and providing a poor user experience based on the failure to generate analyses related to the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices.

[0017] Figures 1A to 1D This is a diagram of Example 100 associated with analysis used for AGF via NWDAF support. (See diagram for example.) [0025] like Figure 1B As shown, and as indicated by reference numeral 105 in the attached figure, the ANDF can establish a first interface with the NWDAF. For example, the ANDF can be a new NF or AF that uses SBA to interface with the NWDAF, just like other NFs. In some implementations, a first interface (e.g., referred to as N) can be defined for the NF (e.g., including the NWDAF). ANDF The SBA API (interface) is used to interface with ANDF for analyzing data delivery and access. ANDFThe interface can also connect to NEF for secure communication between NFs.

[0026] like Figure 1B As further shown, and as indicated by reference numeral 110 in the accompanying drawings, the ANDF can establish a second interface with 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices. For example, a second interface (e.g., an Nxx socket interface) can be provided between the ANDF and 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices (e.g., RAN, W-AGF, N3IWF, TNGF, TWIF, etc.). The Nxx socket interface can be based on UDP / IP. The ANDF can utilize this second interface to receive telemetry data from 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices, as described below.

[0027] like Figure 1C As shown, and as indicated by reference numeral 115 in the attached figure, the ANDF can provide the NWDAF with definitions of the analytics data to be generated by the NWDAF via a first interface. For example, the ANDF can define the analytics data to be generated by the NWDAF based on use cases associated with the SBA, and can generate definitions of the analytics data. In some implementations, the definitions can define analytics data such as network data analytics data, network function load analytics data, network performance analytics data, UE-related analytics data, congestion analytics data, quality of service (QoS) sustainability analytics data, session management congestion experience analytics data, redundant transmission experience-related analytics data, end-to-end data volume transmission time analytics data, protocol data unit (PDU) session service analytics data, etc. In some implementations, the ANDF can provide the definitions of the analytics data to the NWDAF using the first interface.

[0028] like Figure 1C As further shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 120, the ANDF can provide the NWDAF with raw data (e.g., SBA data) of the operational status associated with the SBA via a first interface. For example, the ANDF can receive raw operational status data from components of the SBA. In some implementations, the raw operational status data may include network data, network function load, network performance data, UE-related data, congestion data, QoS sustainability data, session management congestion experience data, redundant transmission experience-related data, end-to-end data volume transmission time data, PDU session service data, etc. The ANDF can provide the raw operational status data to the NWDAF using the first interface. The NWDAF can use the raw operational status data to generate defined analytical data.

[0029] like Figure 1CAs further shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 125, NWDAF can calculate analytical data based on raw data of defined and operational states. For example, NWDAF can also receive data from OAM systems, operation support systems, etc. NWDAF can process raw data of operational states and any additional data to calculate analytical data defined by the definition. In some implementations, NWDAF can calculate service experience-related network data analytical data (e.g., application, network slicing, UE, etc.), NF load analytical data, network performance analytical data, UE-related analytical data (e.g., mobility, communication, behavior-related, abnormal behavior-related, etc.), user congestion analytical data, QoS sustainability analytical data, session management congestion experience analytical data, redundant transmission experience-related analytical data, data network performance analytical data, end-to-end data volume transmission time analytical data, PDU session service analytical data, etc.

[0030] like Figure 1C As further shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 130, the ANDF can receive analysis data from the NWDAF via a first interface. For example, after calculating the analysis data, the NWDAF can provide the analysis data to the ANDF using the first interface. The ANDF can receive the analysis data via the first interface and can store the analysis data in a data structure (e.g., a database, table, list, etc.) associated with the ANDF.

[0031] like Figure 1C As further shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 135, the ANDF can perform one or more actions based on the analyzed data. For example, the ANDF can review the analyzed data and determine one or more actions to be performed based on the reviewed analyzed data. The ANDF can enable one or more actions to be performed within the SBA. In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF calculating the service experience. For example, the ANDF can determine, based on the analyzed data, that the network function of the SBA is providing a poor service experience to the UE. The ANDF can identify solutions for the poor service experience and enable the network function to implement the solution.

[0032] In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF adjusting the load on a network function. For example, the ANDF may determine, based on analytics data, that the load on a network function is too high and may instruct the network function to shift some load to another network function. In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF correcting network performance problems. For example, the ANDF may determine, based on analytics data, that a network function is causing a network performance problem. The ANDF may then service or replace the network function to resolve the network performance problem. In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF correcting UE performance problems. For example, the ANDF may identify UE performance problems based on analytics data and may provide the UE with a software update to resolve the UE performance problem.

[0033] In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF handling network congestion. For example, based on analytics data, the ANDF can identify the portion of the SBA experiencing network congestion and redirect services away from that portion of the SBA. In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF resolving QoS sustainability issues. For example, the ANDF can determine, based on analytics data, that the RAN is causing QoS sustainability issues and can servicing the RAN to resolve these issues. In some implementations, performing one or more actions may include the ANDF handling session management congestion. For example, based on analytics data, the ANDF can identify the portion of the SBA causing session management congestion and redirect services away from that portion of the SBA.

[0034] like Figure 1D As shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 140, the ANDF can receive telemetry data from 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices via a second interface. For example, 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices can generate telemetry data and provide it to the ANDF via the second interface (e.g., an Nxx socket interface). The ANDF can receive telemetry data via the second interface. In some implementations, the telemetry data can be generated as a protocol buffer structured message, and the data model (e.g., the OpenConfig data model) can generate the telemetry data as a structured message in a generic key / value format. In some implementations, remote procedure calls (e.g., RPCs) can be used to provide sensors and subscribe to and receive telemetry data from 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices. In some implementations, when telemetry data is received, the ANDF can receive telemetry data in batches from 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices, receive telemetry data in chunks from 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices, or periodically receive portions of telemetry data from one or more settings of 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices.

[0035] like Figure 1D Further, and as indicated by reference numeral 145 in the accompanying drawings, the ANDF can provide telemetry data to the NWDAF via the first interface. For example, when the ANDF receives telemetry data from a 3GPP access device and a non-3GPP access device, the ANDF can use the first interface to provide the telemetry data to the NWDAF. The NWDAF can use the telemetry data to generate additional analytics data, as described below.

[0036] like Figure 1D As further shown in the figure, and as indicated by reference numeral 150, NWDAF can calculate additional analytics data based on telemetry data. For example, NWDAF can process telemetry data as well as any additional data to calculate additional analytics data. In some implementations, the additional analytics data may include network data analytics data related to service experience (e.g., application, network slicing, UE, etc.), NF load analytics data, network performance analytics data, UE-related analytics data (e.g., mobility, communication, behavior-related, abnormal behavior-related, etc.), user congestion analytics data, QoS sustainability analytics data, session management congestion experience analytics data, redundant transmission experience-related analytics data, data network performance analytics data, end-to-end data volume transmission time analytics data, PDU session service analytics data, etc.

[0037] like Figure 1D As further shown, and as indicated by reference numeral 155 in the accompanying drawings, the ANDF can receive additional analysis data from the NWDAF via a first interface. For example, after calculating the additional analysis data, the NWDAF can provide the additional analysis data to the ANDF using the first interface. The ANDF can receive the additional analysis data via the first interface and can store the additional analysis data in a data structure associated with the ANDF.

[0038] like Figure 1DAs further shown, and as indicated by reference numeral 160 in the accompanying drawings, the ANDF can perform one or more additional actions based on additional analytics data. For example, the ANDF can examine the additional analytics data and determine one or more additional actions to be performed based on the examined data. The ANDF can then perform one or more additional actions within the SBA. In some implementations, the one or more additional actions may include actions similar to those performed based on analytics data. In some implementations, the one or more additional actions may include actions to resolve any issues with 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices, as identified by telemetry data received from the 3GPP access devices and non-3GPP access devices. For example, the ANDF can determine RAN traffic overload based on additional analytics data and can cause the RAN to offload some traffic to another RAN. In another example, the ANDF can determine that a non-3GPP access device is offline based on additional analytics data and can cause a technician to be dispatched to handle the offline non-3GPP access device.

[0039] In this way, network devices support analytics for AGF via NWDAF. For example, a network device (e.g., ANDF) may include an AF that interfaces with the NWDAF (e.g., similar to other NFs) using SBA. The ANDF can define analytics data generated by the NWDAF based on use case definitions and can provide the NWDAF with the necessary data to generate the defined analytics data. The ANDF can provide an Nxx socket interface between itself and each access device in both non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices. The Nxx socket interface can be based on UDP / IP. Therefore, network devices save computing and network resources that would otherwise be consumed by failing to provide an interface between non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices and the NWDAF, failing to generate analytics associated with the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices, and providing a poor user experience based on the failure to generate analytics associated with the resource utilization of non-3GPP and 3GPP access devices.

[0040] As mentioned above, Figures 1A to 1D This is provided as an example. Other examples may differ from the one provided. Figures 1A to 1D The example described. [0042] Non-3GPP access equipment 205 may include one or more devices that access the core network 215 via Wi-Fi, WiMAX, etc. For example, non-3GPP access equipment 205 may include wired access gateway function (W-AGF), non-3GPP interoperability function (N3IWF), trusted non-3GPP gateway function (TNGF), trusted wireless local area network (WLAN) interoperability function (TWIF), etc.

[0043] RAN 210 may support, for example, a cellular RAT. RAN 210 may include one or more base stations (e.g., base transceivers, radio base stations, Node Bs, (multiple) eNodeBs (eNBs), (multiple) gNodeBs (gNBs), base station subsystems, cellular sites, cell towers, access points, transmit / receive points (TRPs), radio access nodes, macrocell base stations, microcell base stations, picocell base stations, femtocell base stations, or similar devices) and other network entities that can support wireless communication for the UE.
