A system usable with an electrically driven machine is provided herein. The system includes a resistive grid electrically coupled with an electric motor of the electrically driven machine, a fan coupled with the resistive grid, the fan being operable in two or more operating modes, a control circuit including one or more processors and a memory configured to store instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the control circuit to determine a cooling load of the resistive grid, determine a target fan speed as a function of the cooling load of the resistive grid and an operating mode selected from the two or more operating modes of the fan, and provide an output to the fan corresponding to the target fan speed.
