Abstract

Embodiments of the present application provide a data compression method and a data reading method, a device, a storage medium and a program product. In the embodiments of the present application, for each index entry in an address mapping table, common address attribute information between data objects stored by each index entry is identified, compression strategy information for the address mapping table is determined based on the identified common address attribute information, for a plurality of address fields included in the index entry in the address mapping table, a compression manner in the compression strategy information is used to perform data compression on a corresponding address field included in the index entry, thereby reducing the storage space occupancy of the index entry, and thus reducing the storage space occupancy of the entire address mapping table and saving storage space. Further, by compressing the address mapping table through the common address attribute information, a target compression manner can be accurately determined for compressing a target address field in the index entry, thereby reasonably reducing the memory occupancy of the index entry.
