Abstract

This invention discloses the application of the sorghum drought-resistant gene SbCXE15 and its encoded protein in plant drought resistance. The application is achieved by overexpressing the sorghum SbCXE15 gene in plants. Specifically, plants are transformed using a recombinant expression vector containing this gene, thereby obtaining transgenic plants with improved drought resistance. This invention discloses for the first time the biological function of the sorghum SbCXE15 gene in plant drought resistance. Functional verification results show that rice overexpressing the SbCXE15 gene has significantly better drought resistance under drought stress than the wild-type control Zhonghua 11. This gene plays a positive regulatory role in drought stress response, providing a valuable gene resource for the genetic improvement of crop drought resistance.
