Abstract

Aerosolization devices and procedures are described that improve air-jet dry powder inhaler (DPI) technologies and other types of inhalers, thereby optimizing aerosolization performance and expanding dosing capacity. One example device includes a variable-sized aerosolization chamber and an adjustment mechanism that allows the chamber size to be changed between activations. During use, the distance between the aerosolization chamber's air channel and the top of the powder bed remains virtually constant, even as the powder bed empties with each successive activation of the device.
