Description

BACKGROUND Area of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to a grommet for holding a linear element such as a wire on a fastening target element such as a plate, in order to avoid obstructions between them. Related technology

[0002] A nozzle described in Japanese patent application JP H04-339 054 A is an example of a known nozzle of this type. In this nozzle, a circular cylinder portion, attached to an opening section of a fastening target element, and a retaining portion, which holds a linear element, are projecting from a nozzle body. The circular cylinder portion and the retaining portion are formed continuously relative to each other by a rib that extends along an end face of a slot formed radially from the retaining portion. Claw sections that engage in the opening section of the fastening target element are formed on an outer circumference of the circular cylinder portion, and projection sections are formed at a specific distance on each side of the claw section.

[0003] However, in the nozzle described in Japanese patent application JP H04-339 054 A, the retaining part cannot hold the linear element if the linear element is at an angle to an axial direction of the nozzle, if a hard linear element such as a metal wire is held by the retaining part. SUMMARY

[0004] Taking the above circumstances into account, a nozzle is obtained that is capable of holding a linear element even when the linear element is at an angle to the axial direction of the nozzle.

[0005] A grommet according to a first aspect has: a main body circular cylinder part through which a linear element can be inserted; a fastening circular cylinder part which, in an axial direction, is connected to an end section of the main body circular cylinder part and which can be inserted into an opening section formed on a fastening target element; an engagement section which is formed on an outer circumferential section of the fastening circular cylinder part and which is capable of engaging in a circumferential edge section of the opening section by elastic deformation; and a retaining part which is formed on an inner circumferential section of a boundary between the main body circular cylinder part and the fastening circular cylinder part, which is capable of holding the linear element and whose inner diameter is smaller than an inner diameter of the main body circular cylinder part and an inner diameter of the fastening circular cylinder part;wherein at least one inner circumferential surface of the main body circular cylinder part or one inner circumferential surface of the mounting circular cylinder part has a conical shape with a diameter that decreases in the direction of the holding part.

[0006] In the case of the grommet according to the first aspect, when the fastening circular cylinder part, which is connected to one end section in the axial direction of the main body fastening element, is inserted into the opening section provided on the fastening element, the engagement section formed on the outer circumference of the fastening circular cylinder part engages with the circumferential edge section of the opening section by elastic deformation, thereby enabling the grommet to be fastened to the fastening target element. Furthermore, when the linear element is inserted through the grommet, the retaining part, which is formed on the inner circumferential section of the boundary between the main body circular cylinder part and the fastening circular cylinder part, holds the linear element. The inner diameter of the retaining part is smaller than the inner diameter of the main body circular cylinder part and the inner diameter of the mounting circular cylinder part, and at least the inner circumferential surface of the main body circular cylinder part or the inner circumferential surface of the mounting circular cylinder part has a conical shape with a diameter that decreases in the direction of the retaining part. The linear element can be easily inserted into the nozzle from the main body circular cylinder part or the mounting circular cylinder part, whose inner circumferential surface has a conical shape, and the linear element can be held by the retaining part of the nozzle even when the linear element is at an angle to the axial direction of the nozzle.

[0007] A second aspect is the nozzle according to the first aspect, whereby both the inner circumferential surface of the main body circular cylinder part and the inner circumferential surface of the fastening circular cylinder part have a conical shape with a diameter that decreases in the direction of the holding part.

[0008] In the case of the nozzle according to the second aspect, both the inner circumferential surface of the main body circular cylinder part and the inner circumferential surface of the mounting circular cylinder part have a conical shape. Accordingly, the linear element can be inserted even more easily, and the linear element can be held more securely.

[0009] A third aspect of the invention is the nozzle either according to the first aspect or the second aspect, which further has a plurality of projecting sections formed by the holding part at intervals from one another in a circumferential direction of the holding part and which extend along the axial direction.

[0010] In the nozzle according to the third aspect of the invention, the plurality of projecting sections are formed extending from the retaining part, spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction and extending along the axial direction. The projecting sections accordingly abut the linear element, thereby reducing the sliding resistance between the retaining part and the linear element and allowing the linear element to pass more easily through the nozzle. Furthermore, the projecting sections prevent rattling of the linear element, and adjustment to prevent rattling can be achieved by changing the height of the projecting sections, thus facilitating adjustment and modification.

[0011] A fourth aspect is the nozzle according to one of aspects one to three, wherein the length of the main body circular cylinder part in the axial direction is greater than the length of the fastening circular cylinder part in the axial direction.

[0012] In the case of the nozzle according to the fourth aspect, the axial length of the main body circular cylinder section is greater than the axial length of the mounting circular cylinder section. The main body circular cylinder section is therefore easy to grip and ensures good assembly when inserting the mounting circular cylinder section of the nozzle through the opening formed on the mounting target element. Furthermore, the main body circular cylinder section is easy to grip when, after assembly, it needs to be confirmed that the nozzle will not come loose when pulled out, which ensures good workability.

[0013] A fifth aspect of the invention is the nozzle according to one of aspects one to four, which further has a contact section formed on the outer circumferential section of the fastening circular cylinder part and touches an inner circumferential wall of the opening section.

[0014] In the grommet according to the fifth aspect of the invention, the contact section that abuts the inner circumferential wall of the opening section formed on the mounting target element is formed on the outer circumference of the mounting circular cylinder part. This makes it possible to prevent rattling of the grommet on the mounting target element by ensuring that the contact section abuts the inner circumferential wall of the opening section formed on the mounting target element when the mounting circular cylinder part of the grommet is fastened to the opening section formed on the mounting target element.

[0015] Due to the above design, the nozzle is able, according to the first aspect, to hold the linear element even when the linear element is at an angle to the axial direction of the nozzle.

[0016] Due to the above design, the nozzle, according to the second aspect, allows for even easier insertion of the linear element and is able to hold the linear element more stably.

[0017] Due to the design described above, the nozzle, as described in the third aspect, allows the linear element to be easily inserted. The protruding sections prevent the linear element from rattling, and adjustments to prevent rattling are easily made.

[0018] Due to the above design, the grommet improves, according to the fourth aspect, the ease of mounting it to the opening section formed on the mounting target element and the possibility of confirming its installation.

[0019] Due to the above design, the nozzle, according to the fifth aspect of the present invention, makes it possible to prevent rattling at the fastening target element. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0021] The following is an explanation of a nozzle according to an exemplary embodiment with reference to Fig. 1 to Fig. 7. In Fig. 1 to Fig. 7 The arrow UP indicates the upward direction of a vehicle seat (seat) on which the grommet is mounted, and IN indicates the direction in width within the vehicle seat.

[0022] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 6, the vehicle seat 10 according to the present exemplary embodiment is provided with a seat cushion (not shown in the drawings) on which an occupant sits and a seat backrest 12 which supports part of the back of the occupant sitting in the vehicle seat 10.

[0023] A frame representing a seat back frame 14 of the seat back 12 is provided on an inner section of the seat back 12. The seat back frame 14 has a left and a right side frame 16 and 18, an upper frame 20 extending between the upper ends of the left and the right side frames 16 and 18, and a lower frame 22 extending between the lower ends of the left and the right side frames 16 and 18.

[0024] A seat back spring 30, formed from metal wire or the like and serving as a rigid linear element, is provided, spanning both end sections 20A of the upper frame 20 and both end sections 22A of the lower frame 22. The upper end sections 30A of the seat back spring 30 are attached to both end sections 20A of the lower frame 22 via grommets 32 according to the present exemplary embodiment.

[0025] Lower sections 30B of the seat back springs 30 are attached to both end sections 22A of the lower frame 22 by means of respective clamps 34. A seat back shell 39 is fixed to the seat back springs 30 by means of clamps 36 and 38. Design of the nozzle

[0026] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the grommets 32 of the present exemplary embodiment are capable of being attached to circular opening sections 42 (for example, through holes) formed (by drilling or punching) on a mounting section 40 of the upper frame 20, which serves as the mounting target element. Note that the mounting section 40 of the upper frame 20 is formed by an inclined surface that slopes from the top of the seat inwards in the width direction to the underside of the seat in the width direction outwards.

[0027] As in Fig. 2 and Fig. As shown in Figure 3, each of the nozzles 32 is formed in the shape of a cylindrical tube whose cross-section, viewed along the direction of an axial line 32A of the nozzle 32, is circular. The seat back spring 30, which serves as a linear element (see Figure 3), Fig. 1) can be inserted through the inside of the cylindrical section of the nozzle 32. The nozzle 32 is formed by a main body circular cylinder part 46 on one side along the direction of the axial line 32A and a fastening circular cylinder part 48, which is connected to an end section of the main body circular cylinder part 46, on another side along the direction of the axial line 32A.

[0028] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, a retaining part 50 is formed on an inner circumferential section of a boundary between the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the mounting circular cylinder part 48 of the nozzle 32. An inner diameter R1 of the retaining part 50 is smaller than an inner diameter R2 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and an inner diameter R3 of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 (R1 < R2, R3). Note that the inner diameter of an end section 46A of the main body circular cylinder part 46, which is located on the side opposite the mounting circular cylinder part 48, is larger than the inner diameter of an end section 48A of the mounting circular cylinder part 48, which is located on the side opposite the main body circular cylinder part 46.

[0029] In the present exemplary embodiment, both an inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and an inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 have conical shapes with a diameter that decreases in the direction of the retaining part 50. Note that the opening angle θ1 between the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 and the opening angle θ2 between the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 are equal.

[0030] As in Fig. 5 and Fig. As shown in Figure 6, a plurality of projecting sections 52 are formed extending from the retaining section 50. The projecting sections 52 are formed at four locations at equal intervals along the circumferential direction of the nozzle 32. Viewed along the direction of the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32, the projecting sections 52 are configured in the form of right angles.

[0031] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the projecting sections 52 extend along the directions towards the axial line 32A of the nozzle. One end section 52A of each of the projecting sections 52 reaches the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46, and another end section 52B of each of the projecting sections 52 reaches the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48. Note that the projecting section 52 extends by a uniform amount (thickness) M1 in the longitudinal direction (direction of the axial line 32A).

[0032] Accordingly, as in Fig. 5 and Fig. Figure 6 shows the projection sections 52 to the seat back spring 30, thereby enabling a reduction in sliding resistance between the retaining part 50 and the seat back spring 30.

[0033] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the outer circumference of a connecting section between the fastening circular cylinder part 48 and the main body circular cylinder part 46 is formed with a flange section 54 that projects outwards in an annular manner in the radial direction.

[0034] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the length L1 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 from the flange section 54 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 is greater than the length L2 of the fastening circular cylinder part 48 from the flange section 54 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 (L1 > L2). It is therefore easy for a worker to grasp the main body circular cylinder part 46 when inserting the grommet 32 into the opening 42 formed at the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20. It is also easy for the worker to grasp the main body circular cylinder part 46 when, after assembly, they need to confirm that the grommet does not come loose when pulled out.

[0035] As in Fig. 2 and Fig. As shown in Figure 3, ribs 56 are formed between the flange section 54 and the main body circular cylinder part 46. The ribs 56 are formed at four locations at equal intervals along the circumferential direction of the nozzle 32, offset by 45° along the circumferential direction with respect to the respective projection sections 52. As shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the rib 56, viewed along a direction around the circumferential direction of the nozzle 32, has the shape of a triangle which reaches: the end section 46A of the main body circular cylinder part 46 on the side opposite the fastening circular cylinder part 48; and an outer circumference of the flange section 54.

[0036] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, engagement claws 60, serving as engagement sections, are formed on the outer circumference of the mounting circular cylinder part 48. The engagement claws 60 are formed at two locations at equal intervals from each other along the circumferential direction of the grommet 32, at the same locations circumferentially as the ribs 56. A cutout 62 is formed continuously on both sides circumferentially and on the side of the flange section 54 of each engagement claw 60, and each engagement claw 60 is capable of elastic deformation outwards in the radial direction and inwards in the radial direction of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 by means of a hinge section 60A of the engagement claw 60, which is formed on the side opposite the flange section 54.

[0037] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, when viewed along a direction along the circumference of the nozzle 32, the respective engagement claws 60 are shaped like a mountain and are able to engage in the circumferential edge section of the circular opening section 42, which is formed at the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20, by undergoing elastic deformation.

[0038] Accordingly, when the mounting circular cylinder part 48 is inserted into the circular opening section 42 formed at the mounting section 40 of the upper frame, the engagement claws 60 slide against the opening section 42 and deform elastically inwards in the radial direction of the mounting circular cylinder part 48, after which the engagement claws 60 recover in the radial outwards direction. The circumferential edge section of the circular opening section 42 formed at the mounting section 40 of the upper frame 20 is thereby held (gripped or pinched) between the engagement claws 60 and the flange section 54.

[0039] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, a plurality of butt sections 66 are formed at locations on the side of the flange section 54 of an outer circumferential section of the mounting circular cylinder part 48. The butt sections 66 are formed at locations adjacent to the respective engagement claws 60 on both sides in the circumferential direction, and at locations separated from the engagement claws 60 by 90° in the circumferential direction.

[0040] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, when the fastening circular cylinder part 48 is inserted into the circular opening section 42 formed on the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20 and the grommet 32 is attached to the upper frame 20, the plurality of contact sections 66 abut the inner circumferential wall of the opening section 42. This prevents the grommet 32 from rattling against the upper frame 20. Mode of operation and beneficial effects

[0041] The following is an explanation of how the present exemplary embodiment works.

[0042] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, in the present exemplary embodiment, the fastening circular cylinder part 48 of the nozzle 32 is inserted into the circular opening section 42 formed on the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20. The engagement claws 60 formed on the outer circumference of the fastening circular cylinder part 48 thereby grip the circumferential edge section of the opening section 42 by elastic deformation and enable the nozzle 32 to be fastened to the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20.

[0043] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, when the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 is inserted through the grommet 32, the retaining part 50, which is formed on the inner circumferential section of the boundary between the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the mounting circular cylinder part 48, holds the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30. The inner diameter R1 of the retaining part 50 is smaller than the inner diameter R2 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the inner diameter R3 of the mounting circular cylinder part 48, and both the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 have conical shapes with a diameter that decreases in size towards the retaining part 50.

[0044] Accordingly, in the present exemplary embodiment, the seat back spring 30 can be easily inserted into the grommet 32 from either the main body circular cylinder part 46 or the mounting circular cylinder part 48, which each have a conical shape. Furthermore, as shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 is held by the retaining section 50 of the grommet 32 even when the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 is at an angle to the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 (inclined).

[0045] Note that the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 can be held by the retaining section 50 of the grommet 32 even if the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 is not at an angle to the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 (not inclined).

[0046] In the nozzle 32 of the present exemplary embodiment, four of the projecting sections 52 are provided projecting from the retaining part 50, and each of the projecting sections 52 extends along the direction of the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32. Accordingly, as in Fig. 5 and Fig. As shown in Figure 6, the sliding resistance between the retaining part 50 and the seat back spring 30 is reduced because the projecting sections 52 abut the seat back spring 30. As a result, the seat back spring 30 passes more easily through the grommet 32. Furthermore, the projecting sections 52 prevent rattling of the seat back spring 30, and the rattling of the seat back spring 30 can be adjusted (corrected) by changing the height of the projecting sections 52, thus facilitating adjustment.

[0047] In the case of the nozzle 32 of the present exemplary embodiment, as shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the length L1 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 is greater than the length L2 of the fastening circular cylinder part 48 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the nozzle (L1 > L2). The main body circular cylinder part 46 is therefore easy to grip, which facilitates good workability when a worker inserts the nozzle 32 through the opening section 42 formed at the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20. Furthermore, the main body circular cylinder part 46 is easy to grip when, after the nozzle 32 has been fitted, the worker needs to confirm that the nozzle 32 does not come loose when pulled out, which again facilitates good workability.

[0048] If, in the case of the nozzle 32 of the present exemplary embodiment, as in Fig.As shown in Figure 1, the fastening circular cylinder part 48 is inserted into and attached to the circular opening section 42 formed on the fastening section 40 of the upper frame 20, and the plurality of contact sections 66 abut the inner circumferential wall of the opening section 42. This prevents the grommet 32 from rattling on the upper frame 20. Further exemplary embodiments

[0049] Above, a specific exemplary embodiment has been explained in detail; however, the present invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment described above, and it would be clear to a person skilled in the art that various other exemplary embodiments are possible within the scope of the present invention. For example, in the exemplary embodiment described above, both the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 of the nozzle 32 have conical shapes with a diameter that decreases in diameter towards the retaining part 50. Alternatively, it is possible that…A design is brought about in which only the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 or the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 has a conical shape with a diameter that decreases in the direction of the retaining part 50, and the other, the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 or the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48, may have the shape of a circular cylinder whose inner diameter is larger than the inner diameter of the retaining part 50.

[0050] If either the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 or the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 has a diameter that decreases in the direction of the retaining part 50, then, even if the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 is at an angle to the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30, the upper end section 30A of the seat back spring 30 can be held better by the retaining part 50 of the grommet 32 than in the case where neither the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 nor the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 has a decreasing diameter.

[0051] In the exemplary embodiment above, the opening angle θ1 between the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 and the opening angle θ2 between the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 are the same. Alternatively, the opening angle θ1 between the inner circumferential surface 46B of the main body circular cylinder part 46 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32 may differ from the opening angle θ2 between the inner circumferential surface 48B of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 and the axial line 32A of the nozzle 32.

[0052] In the exemplary embodiment above, the grommet 32 is used to attach the seat back spring 30, which serves as a linear element, to the upper frame 20, which serves as the attachment point. However, the linear element is not limited to the seat back spring 30, and the design can also be implemented with other linear elements, such as a wire. Furthermore, the attachment point is not limited to the upper frame 20, and the design can also be implemented with other attachment points, such as the lower frame 22 or the like.

[0053] In the exemplary embodiment above, four of the projecting sections 52 are formed on the retaining part 50 of the nozzle 32. However, the retaining part 50 may have a different number of projecting sections 52, for example three or five, or it may be possible to implement a design in which the projecting sections 52 are not provided.

[0054] In the exemplary embodiment above, the length L1 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 from the flange section 54 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the grommet 32 is greater than the length L2 of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 from the flange section 54 along the direction of the axial line 32A of the grommet (L1 > L2). Alternatively, the length L1 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 may be as great as the length L2 of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 (L1 = L2). Furthermore, the length L1 of the main body circular cylinder part 46 may be less than the length L2 of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 (L1 < L2).

[0055] In the exemplary embodiment above, the plurality of projecting sections 66 are formed on the outer circumferential section of the mounting circular cylinder part 48 of the nozzle 32. However, it is possible to achieve a design in which the abutment sections 66 are not provided.

[0056] The grommet according to the invention can possibly be used in places other than on a vehicle seat.
