Description

[0001] The invention relates to a compressed air supply system according to the preamble of claim 1. The invention also relates to a method according to claim 13 for operating the compressed air supply system and to a vehicle according to claim 25.

[0002] Compressed air supply systems, especially compressed air supply systems in vehicles, are well known.

[0003] A compressed air supply system is used in all types of vehicles, in particular for supplying compressed air to the air suspension system of a vehicle, preferably a passenger car. Air suspension systems can also include level control devices with which the distance between the vehicle axle and the vehicle body can be adjusted. An air suspension system of a pneumatic system mentioned above comprises a number of air bellows pneumatically connected to a common line (gallery). These air bellows can raise the vehicle body as their inflation increases and lower it accordingly as their inflation decreases. As the distance between the vehicle axle and the vehicle body, or ground clearance, increases, the spring travel becomes longer, and even larger unevenness in the road can be overcome without contact with the vehicle body. Such systems are used in off-road vehicles and sport utility vehicles (SUVs).Especially with SUVs and very powerful engines, it is desirable to equip the vehicle with comparatively low ground clearance for high speeds on the road, while also offering comparatively high ground clearance for off-road use. It is also desirable to implement changes in ground clearance as quickly as possible, which increases the demands on the speed, flexibility, and reliability of a compressed air supply system.

[0004] A compressed air supply system for use in a pneumatic system with a pneumatic system, for example, an air suspension system as described above, is operated with compressed air from a compressor outlet, for example, at a pressure level of 5 to 20 bar. The compressed air is supplied to the compressor outlet by an air compressor. The compressor outlet is pneumatically connected to a compressed air connection to supply the pneumatic system and is also pneumatically connected to an intake and exhaust connection. The compressed air supply system can be vented to the intake and exhaust connection via a vent valve arrangement by releasing air.

[0005] To ensure long-term operation of the compressed air supply system, it is equipped with an air dryer to dry the compressed air. This prevents the accumulation of moisture in the pneumatic system, which at relatively low temperatures can lead to crystal formation that damages valves and otherwise causes undesirable defects in the compressed air supply system and the pneumatic system. An air dryer contains a desiccant, usually a bed of granules, through which the compressed air can flow. This allows the bed of granules to adsorb the moisture contained in the compressed air at relatively high pressure. An air dryer can also be designed as a regenerative air dryer. This can be achieved by allowing the dried compressed air from the air suspension system to flow through the granulate bed during each venting cycle – at a comparatively low pressure – in countercurrent or cocurrent flow relative to the filling direction. For this purpose, the vent valve arrangement can be opened. For such an application – also known as pressure swing adsorption – it has proven desirable to design a compressed air supply system that is both flexible and reliable, in particular to enable comparatively rapid venting while still allowing a pressure change sufficient for regeneration of the air dryer.

[0006] Furthermore, compressed air supply systems generally distinguish between so-called open and closed systems. In open systems, the pneumatic system, in particular the air suspension system, and / or a compressed air reservoir, are supplied with air taken directly from the atmosphere. Furthermore, in an open system with charging, air from a pressure reservoir can be used, for example, to accelerate the filling of the bellows of an air suspension system by a compressor.

[0007] In a closed system, however, the air used to supply the pneumatic system is used exclusively from a compressed air reservoir in a closed circuit. Compressed air is pumped from the compressed air reservoir into the pneumatic system by a compressor, particularly for filling the bellows of an air suspension system. Similarly, when the bellows are deflated during lowering of the vehicle, the compressed air flows back into the compressed air reservoir with the assistance of the compressor.

[0008] Furthermore, it has proven to be useful to implement systems with two or more pressure accumulators, in particular with a low-pressure accumulator and a high-pressure accumulator.

[0009] EP 1 380 453 B1 describes a closed level control system for vehicles, by which a vehicle body is cushioned relative to at least one vehicle axle. A pressure fluid reservoir is provided, which is divided into a first and a second pressure fluid chamber, which are not directly connected. Either the first pressure fluid chamber or the second pressure fluid chamber can be connected to the compressor inlet or the compressor outlet via at least one common and controllable directional control valve, so that pressure fluid can be transferred from the pressure fluid chambers into the first or second pressure fluid chamber, or pressure fluid can be transferred from the first or second pressure fluid chamber into the pressure fluid chambers.

[0010] US 4,834,418 A describes an electronically controlled gas suspension system for quickly controlling vehicle behavior and ensuring consistent air spring behavior. In this suspension system, the gas states in multiple reserve tanks are determined by gas state determining means to activate / deactivate communication means to connect / disconnect the reserve tanks when a pressure difference between the reserve tanks is detected to maintain a predetermined value, so that the air states in the multiple pressure tanks can be set to be equal.

[0011] In general, the approaches mentioned here are characterized by limited functionality and a relatively high level of structural complexity. These include, in particular, the availability of the compressed air supply, the parallel use of system functions, and the flexible use of compressed air storage.

[0012] Another problem, particularly with the approaches mentioned above, is the system complexity required to implement the functions described.

[0013] It is desirable to resolve one of the aforementioned problems or to provide an improved DLV. In particular, the speed of compressed air delivery and the availability of the compressed air supply system should be improved. Furthermore, it is desirable to keep the complexity of the compressed air supply system and the stress on the components to a minimum.

[0014] This is where the invention comes in, the object of which is to provide an improved compressed air supply system that addresses at least one of the aforementioned problems.

[0015] The problem relating to the compressed air supply system is solved by the invention with a compressed air supply system of claim 1. The invention is based on a compressed air supply system for operating a pneumatic system of a vehicle, in particular for supplying an air suspension system of a vehicle with compressed air, in particular a passenger car or a commercial vehicle, comprising a compressor outlet; a compressed air connection to the pneumatic system, wherein a gallery for supplying the pneumatic system is connected between the compressed air connection and the pneumatic system; an intake and exhaust connection to the environment; a pneumatic main line between the compressor outlet and the compressed air connection, which has an air dryer; a exhaust line leading from the pneumatic main line; a compressor arrangement for providing compressed air at the compressor outlet;a low-pressure accumulator connectable to the compressed air connection; a high-pressure accumulator connectable to the gallery via compressed air; and a number of spring bellows connectable to the gallery via compressed air.

[0016] According to the invention, the compressed air supply system is provided with the high-pressure accumulator being connectable to a compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement via a charging valve in a compressed air-carrying manner.

[0017] Furthermore, the object is achieved by a method according to claim 13 and a vehicle according to claim 25, in which the features of the compressed air supply system are used in an advantageous manner.

[0018] The invention is based on the consideration that both open and closed systems for compressed air supply have disadvantages.

[0019] Open systems are characterized by low air speed, especially since the compressed air must be built up from atmospheric pressure to the required operating pressure each time the air suspension system is filled. Furthermore, the necessary regeneration of the air dryer means that the compressed air supply is unavailable during regeneration.

[0020] Closed systems also have the disadvantage of increasing the drying requirements of the air dryer due to the risk of moisture penetrating the air circuit and the resulting disadvantageous reduction in the dew point. This also increases the air dryer's regeneration requirements. This results in an increase in the system's operating time and a reduction in the availability of the compressed air supply.

[0021] The invention has recognized that the arrangement of at least two compressed air reservoirs, a low-pressure reservoir and a high-pressure reservoir, in the compressed air supply system, of which in particular at least one can be connected to an inlet of the compressor, leads to significant advantages.

[0022] This includes, in particular, increased system availability, as key functions of the compressed air supply system can be performed in parallel. In particular, the air dryer can be regenerated while the pneumatic system is simultaneously supplied with compressed air via the high-pressure accumulator. Furthermore, it is possible to pump compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator to the high-pressure accumulator via the compressor arrangement.

[0023] This also makes it possible to accept a lower dew point if necessary, since regeneration of the air dryer is possible practically continuously without significantly impairing the availability of the compressed air supply system.

[0024] The invention also recognizes the advantage that step-by-step compression of the compressed air leads to further benefits in terms of noise development and the load on the components, in particular the compressor. This is due to the fact that compression can initially take place from atmospheric pressure to a low-pressure level, for example, 12 bar, and the compressed air generated can be stored in the low-pressure accumulator. This compressed air can then be fed to the compressor, which then only has to generate the pressure difference from a low-pressure level, for example, 12 bar, to a high-pressure level, for example, 18 bar. By arranging at least two connectable compressed air accumulators according to the concept of the invention, step-by-step compression in a multitude of steps with arbitrarily small pressure differences is theoretically possible. This can be used, for example, to advantageously distribute the amount of energy required for compression evenly over a longer period of time or, analogously, to keep the noise level generated during compression low over a longer period of time. This also allows the compressor to be smaller and lighter, as the compressor can be advantageously designed to generate smaller pressure differences, especially as a single-stage compressor. This leads to advantages, particularly in terms of cost, installation space, and the weight of the compressor.

[0025] Furthermore, the invention recognizes that the essential components of such an arrangement, in particular two storage tanks, are often already present in common vehicles, and the concept of the invention can therefore be implemented with relatively little design effort. Such an arrangement can also be implemented with a relatively simple compressor, in particular a single-stage compressor. An arrangement with two storage tanks achieves greater flexibility, particularly because the regeneration of the air filter can take place independently of other functions of the compressed air supply system, in particular the supply of the pneumatic system.

[0026] Advantageous further developments of the invention can be found in the dependent claims and specify in detail advantageous possibilities for realizing the concept explained above within the scope of the task and with regard to further advantages.

[0027] It is advantageously provided that the low-pressure accumulator can be connected to the compressor inlet via the charging valve in a compressed-air manner. Specifically, in this way, compressed air from the pneumatic system, in particular from the bellows when lowering the vehicle, can be advantageously used. This means that the compressed air stored in the low-pressure accumulator can be used to charge the compressor arrangement via the connection thus established. In this case, the compressor arrangement could be charged in order to achieve the advantages of charging already described. The compressed air generated in this way by the compressor arrangement can, depending on the position of the valves, be used to fill the high-pressure accumulator or to supply the pneumatic system, in this case in particular the bellows. This relieves the load on the compressor arrangement, in particular its high-pressure stage, and shortens the time required to provide compressed air.In particular, this shortens the time required to provide compressed air, for example to fill the high-pressure accumulator or to lift the vehicle by filling the bellows.

[0028] In particular, it is intended that the low-pressure reservoir be connected to the gallery via a compressed air supply. This means, in particular, that compressed air from the bellows, which flows into the gallery when the vehicle is lowered, does not escape unused into the environment via the intake and exhaust ports, but can be advantageously used in the low-pressure reservoir for later use, for example, for regenerating the air dryer.

[0029] In particular, it is provided that the high-pressure accumulator can be connected to the gallery via a high-pressure accumulator valve for compressed air. This particularly means that a compressed air connection between the high-pressure accumulator and the gallery can be established, in particular in a controllable manner. In this way, a high-pressure accumulator filled at an earlier point in time via the compressor can advantageously be used directly to supply the gallery and in particular the pneumatic system, in particular without operating a compressor arrangement for providing compressed air at the time of supply. Thus, the generation of compressed air can be decoupled in time from the consumption of compressed air, which advantageously leads to greater flexibility in the operation and design of the compressed air supply system.

[0030] In a further development, the compressor arrangement is provided for a two-stage configuration. Specifically, this means that the compressor arrangement has, in particular, a low-pressure stage and a high-pressure stage. Thus, the air drawn in from the atmosphere can first be pre-compressed to a low-pressure level before being further compressed to a high-pressure level in the high-pressure stage. Such a compressor arrangement can advantageously be used synergistically with a compressed air supply system according to the concept of the invention, in particular because both compressed air compressed to a first pressure level and compressed air compressed to a second pressure level can be stored in separate pressure accumulators, namely the low-pressure accumulator and the high-pressure accumulator.

[0031] Advantageously, the compressor arrangement is formed by a single-piston compressor. This can specifically mean that the compressor advantageously has a relatively simple design. In particular, in a single-stage design, two pressure valves and a sleeve can be omitted, which leads to advantages in terms of costs, installation space, weight, and susceptibility to errors. Alternatively, in such a development, the piston can be designed so that it can be pressurized from two sides to implement two-stage compression. In this way, a two-stage compressor can be formed by a single moving piston, which, however, together with the surrounding cylinder forms two compression chambers. In this way, a two-stage compressor is advantageously implemented with a relatively simple design. This simple design advantageously leads to lower costs, lower weight, and less susceptibility to maintenance. However, it is of course possible to use another type of compressor, in particular a double-piston compressor, instead of a single-piston compressor in a compressed air supply system according to the concept of the invention.

[0032] In particular, it is provided that the charging valve is designed as a 3 / 3-way valve, wherein the charging valve has a first charging valve connection, a second charging valve connection, and a third charging valve connection, which can be selectively placed in a low-pressure position, a blocking position, or a high-pressure position. Specifically, this means that both the low-pressure return line and the high-pressure return line can be selectively connected to the charging line. In particular, this advantageously allows both compressed air stored in the low-pressure accumulator and compressed air stored in the high-pressure accumulator to be used to charge the compressor arrangement.Furthermore, the boost valve, together with the low-pressure return line, the high-pressure return line, and the boost line, provides additional gas-carrying connections to the respective accumulators, which can be used in addition to the low-pressure supply line and the high-pressure supply line. This significantly increases the flexibility of the system, especially with regard to the parallel execution of functions.

[0033] In particular, it is provided that the charging valve is formed by an arrangement of two 2 / 2-way valves, wherein a first arrangement valve designed as a 2 / 2-way valve has a first arrangement valve inlet and a first arrangement valve outlet, and a second arrangement valve designed as a 2 / 2-way valve has a second arrangement valve inlet and a second arrangement valve outlet. Specifically, this means that the function of the charging valve is performed by a valve arrangement consisting of two valves. This means that this version offers the same range of functions as a version with a 3 / 3-way valve. However, this version differs in design in that the low-pressure return line is connected to a first 2 / 2-way valve, and the high-pressure return line is connected to a second 2 / 2-way valve. These two 2 / 2-way valves are then combined via a charging branch and connected to the charging line. This version offers the advantage that simpler components can be used to implement the required functions, in particular 2 / 2-way valves, which are smaller and, above all, less expensive than 3 / 3-way valves. This advantage is particularly important when two valves are required instead of one in this version.

[0034] It is advantageous for the booster valve to be designed as a solenoid valve. Specifically, this means that the valve is electromagnetically controllable, allowing the required valve position to be adjusted, particularly automatically. This can be, for example, a directly controlled, pilot-controlled, or positively controlled solenoid valve. Due to the advantages of solenoid valves, they represent a sensible solution not only for the booster valve, but also for all valves used in the pneumatic system.

[0035] Within the scope of a particularly preferred development, it is provided that the low-pressure accumulator has an operating pressure between 8 and 16 bar, preferably between 11 and 13 bar, particularly preferably between 11.5 and 12.5 bar. This pressure level, also referred to in particular as the low-pressure level, represents an intermediate stage in the compression. Compressed air compressed to such a low-pressure level, which is also referred to as low-pressure compressed air, can be stored in a low-pressure accumulator in a compressed air supply system according to the concept of the invention and further compressed at a later time or without intermediate storage directly by the high-pressure stage of the compressor arrangement to a high-pressure level. In particular, however, the compressed air compressed to the low-pressure level can also be used directly for another function, in particular for the regeneration of the air dryer. The use of compressed air compressed to low pressure level for the regeneration of the air dryer is particularly advantageous because in this case the pneumatic system, in particular one or more bellows, can be supplied with compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator in parallel, i.e. simultaneously.

[0036] Advantageously, the high-pressure accumulator has an operating pressure between 16 and 24 bar, preferably between 17 and 19 bar, and particularly preferably between 17.5 and 18.5 bar. This pressure range, also referred to as the high-pressure level, is required particularly in vehicles of the type mentioned above, especially for an air suspension system in such vehicles. Compressed air compressed to a high-pressure level is also referred to as high-pressure compressed air.

[0037] Of course, the individual value ranges for a high pressure level and a low pressure level may deviate from the value ranges mentioned here within the scope of the concept of the invention.

[0038] Within the scope of a particularly preferred development, it is provided that the low-pressure accumulator can be connected to a gallery's main connection via a low-pressure accumulator valve and a separation valve. In particular, this means that compressed air flowing from the pneumatic system, in particular from the bellows, can be used when lowering a vehicle. Thus, the energy generated in the form of compressed air when lowering the vehicle is not released unused into the atmosphere, but is stored in the low-pressure accumulator. This compressed air can thus be advantageously used at a later time, for example, to charge the compressor assembly or to regenerate the air dryer.

[0039] To achieve the object, the invention also provides a method for operating a compressed air supply system, comprising the steps of compressing air in the compressor arrangement to form compressor compressed air, in particular to form low-pressure compressed air or high-pressure compressed air. The method advantageously utilizes the advantages of the compressed air supply system according to the concept of the invention, in particular the flexibility provided by the arrangement of two separate pressure accumulators.

[0040] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of supplying the gallery with high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator to fill a bellows of the pneumatic system, wherein the high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator is fed to the gallery via a high-pressure accumulator valve, a high-pressure supply line, and a gallery main connection. In this way, pre-compressed high-pressure compressed air can advantageously be used to supply the pneumatic system at an earlier point in time, in particular without requiring the compressor to deliver compressed air.

[0041] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of supplying the low-pressure accumulator with compressor compressed air from the compressor arrangement, wherein the compressed air is guided to the low-pressure accumulator via the pneumatic main line, the air dryer, and the low-pressure supply line. In this way, compressed air can advantageously be generated and stored for later use. The compressor compressed air does not necessarily have to have the pressure level of high-pressure compressed air, but can be brought to a suitable pressure level, in particular one sufficiently low for the low-pressure accumulator, by appropriate control of the compressor.

[0042] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of regenerating the air dryer by subjecting the air dryer to low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator, wherein the low-pressure compressed air is guided to the air dryer via the low-pressure supply line and the main pneumatic line by opening the low-pressure accumulator valve and switching the vent valve to a regeneration position. In this way, the compressed air compressed to a low-pressure level can advantageously be used to regenerate the air dryer. Furthermore, the regeneration can take place, in particular, independently of the pneumatic system, as would be the case, for example, if the regeneration were carried out exclusively with compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator or exclusively from the bellows.Due to the lower pressure in the low-pressure reservoir and the possible extension of the venting process over time, it is also possible to vent the air dryer in an improved manner, in particular in a more gentle manner, since the air flowing from the low-pressure reservoir through the air dryer for the purpose of regeneration can flow through the air dryer and in particular the granules in the dryer cartridge at a moderate speed, in particular at a speed of approximately 20 cm / s.

[0043] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of regenerating the air dryer by applying high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator, wherein the high-pressure compressed air is guided to the air dryer via the high-pressure feed line, the supply line and the main pneumatic line by opening the high-pressure accumulator valve and switching the vent valve to a regeneration position. The compressed air stored in the high-pressure accumulator can then be used to regenerate the air dryer. Either high-pressure compressed air or compressed air with a lower pressure level can be used here. A lower pressure level can be achieved, for example, by not completely filling the high-pressure accumulator or by correspondingly reducing the pressure level in the high-pressure accumulator by previously partially using up the compressed air stored in the high-pressure accumulator.

[0044] In a further development of the method, it is provided that the gallery is pressurized with high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator, and the air dryer is regenerated by pressurizing the air dryer with low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator, wherein the air dryer is regenerated while the gallery is pressurized, in particular both steps take place practically simultaneously. In this way, it is advantageously achieved that the regeneration of the air dryer can take place in parallel with the supply and operation of the pneumatic system, in particular the air spring system. This achieves a temporal decoupling of these two processes, and the regeneration of the air dryer can take place, in particular, independently of the deflation of the spring bellows. This minimizes waiting times that would possibly arise without parallel execution of these functions.Furthermore, regeneration can be carried out continuously or at discrete intervals, whereby the air filter is constantly kept in a favorable operating condition and the dew point behavior of the system is improved.

[0045] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of supplying the compressor inlet with high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator, wherein the high-pressure compressed air is guided to the compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement via the high-pressure accumulator connection, the high-pressure return line, and the charging line by switching the charging valve to a high-pressure position. In this way, the performance of the compressor arrangement can be increased at least temporarily, since the compressed air fed into the compressor inlet is already pre-compressed.

[0046] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of supplying the gallery with compressed air from the compressor assembly. The compressed air is supplied to the gallery via the pneumatic main line, the air dryer, the supply line, and the gallery main connection by switching the vent valve to a delivery position and opening the separation valve. Specifically, this involves supplying the pneumatic system with compressed air from the compressor assembly. This compressed air can be used, in particular, to fill the bellows for lifting the vehicle or to fill the high-pressure accumulator.

[0047] In a further development of the method, it is provided that the compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement is pressurised with high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator, while the gallery is pressurised with compressor compressed air from the compressor arrangement, in particular both steps take place practically simultaneously. In this way, the compressor arrangement can be supported in so-called charging or boost operation, in particular the time required to provide the compressed air, and thus to lift the vehicle, can be shortened. This is achieved particularly advantageously by charging the compressor arrangement through the high-pressure accumulator and the option of separating the compressed air transfer between the high-pressure accumulator and the gallery while simultaneously transferring compressed air between the high-pressure accumulator and the compressor inlet.

[0048] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of supplying the compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement with low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator, wherein, by switching the charging valve to a low-pressure position, the low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator is guided via the low-pressure accumulator connection, the low-pressure return line, and the charging line to the compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement. In this way, an at least temporary increase in the performance of the compressor arrangement occurs - analogous to supplying the compressor inlet of the compressor arrangement with high-pressure compressed air. Although the increase in performance is lower due to the lower pressures compared to high-pressure compressed air, it can still be advantageous.

[0049] In a further development of the method, the compressor inlet is supplied with low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator, while the gallery is supplied with compressor compressed air from the compressor assembly, in particular both steps taking place virtually simultaneously. In this way, the compressor assembly can also be supported in so-called supercharging or boosting mode – analogous to the supercharging operation with charging by high-pressure compressed air from the high-pressure accumulator. In particular, the time required to provide the compressed air, and thus to lift the vehicle, can be shortened.

[0050] In a further development of the method, the method further comprises the step of pressurizing the high-pressure accumulator with compressed air from the compressor arrangement. This involves filling the high-pressure accumulator with compressed air generated in the compressor arrangement for advantageous use at a later time, regardless of the time of generation.

[0051] In a further development of the method, the compressor inlet of the compressor assembly is supplied with low-pressure compressed air from the low-pressure accumulator, while the high-pressure accumulator is supplied with compressor compressed air from the compressor assembly, in particular, both steps occur virtually simultaneously. In this way, the compressed air stored in the low-pressure accumulator can advantageously be used to increase the performance of the compressor assembly when filling the high-pressure accumulator. This is particularly advantageous compared to conventional compressed air supply systems with only one pressure accumulator, where such charging would not be possible.

[0052] The invention further relates to a vehicle, in particular a passenger car, comprising a compressed air supply system according to the concept of the invention, in particular for supplying a pneumatic system, in particular an air suspension system of the vehicle, in particular of the passenger car, with compressed air, in particular for carrying out a method according to the concept of the invention. The vehicle advantageously utilizes the advantages of the invention. In particular in passenger cars, a compressed air supply system, in particular with two pressure accumulators, is advantageous because the improved regeneration of the air dryer according to the concept of the invention leads to improved dew point behavior of the pneumatic system, and thus, for example, frost and corrosion damage due to condensation is avoided.

[0055] Fig. 1A shows a preferred embodiment of a pneumatic system 100 with a compressed air supply system 10 and a pneumatic system 90. The compressed air supply system 10 has a compressor outlet 1, a compressed air connection 2 to the pneumatic system 90, and an intake and exhaust connection 3 to the environment. Furthermore, the compressed air supply system 10 comprises a pneumatic main line 60 between the compressor outlet 1 and the compressed air connection 2. The pneumatic main line 60 has an air dryer 61 and a vent valve 240. A vent line 70 of the compressed air supply system 10 connects the vent valve 240 to the intake and exhaust connection 3. A gallery main connection 12 of the pneumatic system 90 is connected to the compressed air connection 2 via a supply line 96. The flow of compressed air through the supply line 96 can be selectively interrupted by a separation valve 220 arranged in the supply line 96.

[0056] The vent valve 240 can be set to two valve positions. In the currently activated delivery position 240.1, a check valve is arranged in the pneumatic main line 60. This check valve allows compressed air to flow from the compressor outlet 1 to the compressed air connection 2 against a spring force, but blocks the flow of compressed air in the opposite direction. Furthermore, the vent line 70 is interrupted in the delivery position 240.1.

[0057] In the regeneration position 240.2, which is not activated here, the pneumatic main line 60 is configured such that compressed air can flow in one direction, namely from the compressed air connection 2 to the compressor outlet 1. At the same time, the vent line 70 is configured such that compressed air can flow in one direction, namely from the compressor outlet 1 to the intake and vent connection 3.

[0058] On the right side of the Fig. Clearly visible in Figure 1A is a pneumatic system 90 in the form of a vehicle's air suspension system. The pneumatic system 90 has a gallery 95, from which a bellows branch line is connected, each of which can be pneumatically separated by a directional control valve 93. Each bellows branch line leads to a respective bellows 91. A pressure sensor 94 is connected to the gallery 95.

[0059] Furthermore, the compressed air supply system 10 in this case has a low-pressure accumulator 110 and a high-pressure accumulator 120. The low-pressure accumulator 110 is connected to the compressed air connection 2 via a low-pressure supply line 81 at a low-pressure accumulator connection 86. The low-pressure supply line 81 can be selectively interrupted by a low-pressure accumulator valve 230. Furthermore, a gas-carrying connection to a charging valve 210 exists from the low-pressure accumulator connection 86 via a low-pressure return line 83.

[0060] The high-pressure accumulator 120 is connected to the gallery main connection 12 via a high-pressure supply line 82 at a high-pressure accumulator connection 87. This connection can be selectively interrupted via a high-pressure accumulator valve 250. Furthermore, the high-pressure accumulator connection 87 is connected to the charging valve 210 via a high-pressure return line 84.

[0061] The charging valve 210 is designed here as a 3 / 3-way valve 210' and can assume three different positions, namely a low-pressure position 210.1, a blocking position 210.2, and a high-pressure position 210.3. The charging line 85 is connected to the charging valve 210 via a first charging valve connection 210.A. The low-pressure return line 83 is connected to the charging valve 210 via a second charging valve connection 210.B. The high-pressure return line 84 is connected to the charging valve 210 via a third charging valve connection 210.C. By selecting one of the valve positions, it is possible to influence the flow of air through the charging valve 210. In the low-pressure position 210.1, there is a gas-carrying connection between the first charging valve connection 210.A and the second charging valve connection 210.B. The third charging valve connection 210.C is blocked in the low pressure position 210.1.Consequently, in the low-pressure position 210.1, the low-pressure return line 83 is connected to a charging line 85 in a gas-conducting manner.

[0062] In the blocking position 210.2, all connections of the boost valve 210, namely the first boost valve connection 210.A, the second boost valve connection 210.B, and the third boost valve connection 210.C, are blocked. Thus, there is no gas-carrying connection between the boost line 85 and the low-pressure return line 83, nor is there a gas-carrying connection between the boost line 85 and the high-pressure return line 84. In the high-pressure position 210.3, there is a gas-carrying connection between the first boost valve connection 210.A and the third boost valve connection 210.C. The second boost valve connection 210.B is blocked in the high-pressure position 210.3. The charging line 85 is in turn connected to the compressor inlet 22 of a compressor arrangement 21, which in the present case is designed as a single-stage single-piston compressor 21' which is driven by a motor M.A single-stage design of compressor 21 offers the advantage of a relatively simple structural design. In particular, a single-stage design—especially compared to a two-stage design—can eliminate two pressure valves and a sleeve.

[0063] The compressor 21 compresses the air flowing in via the compressor inlet 22 to a compressed air level also referred to as the compressor compressed air VDL. The compressed air level of the compressor compressed air VDL is determined in particular by the maximum power limit of the compressor. The compressed air level of the compressor compressed air VDL can assume a value corresponding to a pressure level of the high-pressure compressed air HDL. By appropriately controlling or actuating the compressor, the compressed air level of the compressor compressed air VDL can also assume a value corresponding to a pressure level of the low-pressure compressed air NDL. In particular, the value of the compressed air level of the compressor compressed air VDL can be influenced when filling the low-pressure accumulator 110 or the high-pressure accumulator 120 by switching off the compressor when a predetermined air pressure measured by the pressure sensor 94 is reached.

[0064] The compressor assembly 21 draws in air for compression via the intake and exhaust port 3 and then the compressor inlet 22. The compressed air compressed in the compressor assembly 21 is provided at the compressor outlet 1.

[0065] Fig. 1B also shows a representation of the already Fig. 1A, but in a special operating state. In particular, the charging valve 210 and the separation valve 220 are in a closed state. The directional control valves 93 and the high-pressure accumulator valve 250, however, are in an open position. This allows the high-pressure compressed air HDL, compressed to a high-pressure level, to flow via the high-pressure supply line 82 and the gallery 95 into the bellows 91, thus raising the vehicle.

[0066] At the same time as the vehicle is being raised, the regeneration of the air dryer 61 can take place, as shown here. For this purpose, the low-pressure storage valve 230 is moved to the open position as shown, so that the stored low-pressure compressed air NDL can reach the air dryer 61 via the low-pressure supply line 81 and the pneumatic main line 60, through which the compressed air flows for the purpose of regeneration. To enable the pneumatic main line 60 to flow in this direction, the vent valve 240 is moved to the regeneration position 240.2. To set an air pressure suitable for regeneration, the low-pressure storage valve 230 can also be only partially opened. The compressed air from the air dryer 61 flows via the compressor outlet 1 into the vent line 70, from where it continues through the vent valve 240 and the intake and vent connection 3 into the environment.

[0067] Based on the Fig. 1B, it becomes clear that, according to the concept of the invention, both operation of the pneumatic system 90 in the form of the air spring system and the regeneration of the air dryer 61 are advantageously possible in parallel, i.e. simultaneously.

[0068] By opening the separation valve 220 and simultaneously closing the high-pressure accumulator valve 250, the pressure of the low-pressure compressed air NDL in the low-pressure accumulator 110 can be measured during filling by means of the pressure sensor 94.

[0069] Also, as in Fig. 1C, parallel to the supply to the pneumatic system 90, perform other functions of the compressed air supply system 10, in particular filling the low-pressure accumulator 110 with compressor compressed air VDL compressed in the compressor arrangement 21. For this purpose, the charging valve 210 is moved to the blocking position 210.2 so that the low-pressure return line 83 and the charging line 85 are separated. In this way, compressor compressed air VDL compressed in the compressor arrangement 21 can reach the low-pressure accumulator 110 via the pneumatic main line 60, the air dryer 61, the compressed air connection 2 and the low-pressure supply line 81. In this case, the compressor compressed air VDL does not necessarily have to have the pressure level of high-pressure compressed air HDL, but can, for example, be brought to a suitable pressure level, in particular a sufficiently low pressure level for the low-pressure accumulator 110, by appropriate control of the compressor arrangement 21.

[0070] By opening the separation valve 220, closing the directional control valves 93, setting the charging valve 210 to the blocking position 210.2 and simultaneously opening the high-pressure accumulator valve 250, the pressure of the high-pressure compressed air HDL in the high-pressure accumulator 120 can be measured during filling by means of the pressure sensor 94.

[0071] In Fig. Figure 1D shows another operating state of the compressed air supply system 10. In this operating state, the compressed air VDL is compressed in the compressor assembly 21 and then fed to the gallery 95 via the pneumatic main line 60, the supply line 96, and the open separation valve 220. From there, the compressed air flows through the open directional control valve 93 into the bellows 91 to raise the vehicle level.

[0072] Furthermore, the high-pressure accumulator valve 250 is in a closed position, and the charging valve 210 is in the high-pressure position 210.3. This makes it possible to supply the high-pressure compressed air HDL stored in the high-pressure accumulator 120 to the compressor inlet 22 via the high-pressure return line 84 and further via the charging line 85. In this way, the compressor arrangement 21 can be supported in the so-called charging or boost mode; in particular, the time required to provide the compressed air, and thus to raise the vehicle, can be shortened.

[0073] Analogous to Fig. 1D shown charging operation by the high-pressure accumulator 120 is presently in Fig. 1E shows a charging operation by the low-pressure accumulator 110. For this purpose, the charging valve 210 has been moved to the low-pressure position 210.1. This allows the low-pressure compressed air NDL stored in the low-pressure accumulator 110 to reach the compressor inlet 22 via the low-pressure return line 83 and the charging line 85. In this way, analogous to the Fig. 1D, reduces the pressure difference to be generated by the compressor arrangement 21 and thus supports the compressor arrangement 21.

[0074] In Fig. 1E also shows a charging of the compressor arrangement 21 by means of low-pressure compressed air NDL from the low-pressure accumulator 110, but in this case for filling the high-pressure accumulator 120. For this purpose, the charging valve 210 is also located, as in Fig. 1D, in the low-pressure position 210.1. However, in this case, the high-pressure accumulator valve 250 is open and the directional control valve 93 is closed. This allows the compressor compressed air VDL generated by the compressor assembly 21 to reach the high-pressure accumulator 120 via the pneumatic main line 60, the supply line 96, the open separation valve 220, and the high-pressure supply line 82. At the same time, the pressure of the high-pressure compressed air HDL in the high-pressure accumulator 120 can be measured via the pressure sensor 94.

[0075] In Fig. 1F shows the preferred embodiment in a state in which the high-pressure accumulator 120 is filled by the compressor assembly 21, and the compressor assembly 21 is charged by means of low-pressure compressed air NDL from the low-pressure accumulator 110. When filling the high-pressure accumulator 120, the performance of the compressor assembly 21 can advantageously be increased by switching the charging valve 210 to a low-pressure position 210.A, thereby leading the low-pressure compressed air NDL from the low-pressure accumulator 110 via the low-pressure accumulator connection 86, the low-pressure return line 83, and the charging line 85 to the compressor inlet 22 of the compressor assembly 21. In this way—analogous to the actuation of the compressor inlet 22 of the compressor assembly 21 with high-pressure compressed air HDL—an at least temporary increase in the performance of the compressor assembly 21 is achieved.

[0076] Fig. 2 shows a further preferred embodiment of a pneumatic system with a compressed air supply system and a pneumatic system, in which the compressor is designed as a two-stage compressor arrangement, namely as a two-stage single-piston compressor 21''.

[0077] The compressor arrangement 21 in the present case has a low-pressure stage 21.1 and a high-pressure stage 21.2, which in the present case are driven by a motor M and the compressor arrangement 21 is designed in particular as a two-stage single-piston compressor.

[0078] The low-pressure stage 21.1 draws in air for compression via the intake and exhaust port 3. The compressed air pre-compressed in the low-pressure stage 21.1 then flows via a compressor line 21.3 to the high-pressure stage inlet 22. From there, the compressed air can reach the high-pressure stage 21.2, where it can be further compressed to a high-pressure level.

[0079] Furthermore, by blocking the low-pressure accumulator valve 230 and switching the boost valve 210 to the low-pressure position 210.1, it would be possible to fill the low-pressure accumulator 110 directly via the low-pressure stage 21.1 of the compressor arrangement 21 and further via the low-pressure return line 83 and the boost line 85. However, in this operating state, the air entering the low-pressure accumulator 110 would not be dried, resulting in a dew point that is difficult to control. Although a parallel and thus temporally independent regeneration of the air dryer 61 is possible according to the concept of the invention, such an operating state without air drying would only be considered when conveying nitrogen or dry air, for example, during an initial filling of the system.

[0080] In Fig. 3 shows a further preferred development of the compressed air supply system 10 according to the concept of the invention. In this further development, instead of a 3 / 3-way valve 210', a valve arrangement 210" is used, which has a first arrangement valve 212, a second arrangement valve 213, and a charging branch 211. Here, the first arrangement valve 212 is designed as a 2 / 2-way valve, with a first arrangement valve inlet 212.A and a first arrangement valve outlet 212.B, and is arranged between the low-pressure return line 83 and the charging branch 211. Furthermore, the second arrangement valve 213 is designed as a 2 / 2-way valve with a second arrangement valve inlet 213.A and a second arrangement valve outlet 213.B, and is arranged between the high-pressure return line 84 and the charging branch 211.Both the first arrangement valve 212 and the second arrangement valve 213 can be opened or closed to allow or prevent the flow of compressed air, respectively. The charging branch 211 is connected to the charging line 85. Thus, the valve arrangement 210'' corresponds in function to the 3 / 3-way valve 210'. Compared to the 3 / 3-way valve 210', however, the valve arrangement 210'' offers the advantage of being able to be implemented with less design effort, particularly with simpler components. In particular, 2 / 2-way valves are simpler and more cost-effective components than 3 / 3-way valves.

[0081] Fig.4 shows a schematic representation of a vehicle 1000 -- here in the form of a passenger car 1001 -- having a pneumatic system 100 with a compressed air supply system 10 and a pneumatic system 90. Particularly in the case of vehicles in the passenger car sector, low-noise and low-vibration operation is of great importance since, in contrast to applications in the truck sector, the acoustic requirements here are higher or more sensitive. The passenger car 1001 shown here as an example, without limiting its applicability for trucks or other commercial vehicles, has four wheels 91, of which the two front wheels are shown here due to the sectional view. Analogous to the number of wheels, the pneumatic system 90 in the form of an air spring system has four bellows 91, of which the two front bellows are shown here due to the sectional view, analogous to the wheels. The four bellows 91, each assigned to the four wheels 92, are supplied with compressed air from the compressed air supply system 10 as part of the pneumatic system 90. The compressed air supply system 10 is fluidly connected to the components of the pneumatic system 90, in this case the four bellows 91, via the supply line 96, the gallery main connection 12, and the gallery 95. Nevertheless, an application of the compressed air supply system according to the invention in a commercial vehicle 1002 (not shown here) is analogously possible and even expedient, particularly because, when an electric compressor is used there, the single-stage variant only needs to generate a small pressure difference.
