Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONField of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a load limiter; and more particularly, to a seat belt having a plate-shaped load limiter used without limitation in a belt support structure. Description of the state of the art
[0002] Generally, a vehicle safety belt (or seat belt) includes a retractor that engages and tightens a webbing strap and a load limiter that slackens the webbing to release the belt.
[0003] For example, when a large load is applied to the webbing in the state where the webbing is wound onto the spool in the event of a collision, the load limiter limits the load exerted on the webbing by the rotational force of the spool. In this case, the load limiter can be called a webbing winding load limiter.
[0004] Therefore, the seat belt including the load limiter can prevent the separation of a passenger from a seat by restricting the webbing with the retractor, and at the same time prevent secondary injury to the passenger by releasing the webbing with the load limiter in the event of a vehicle impact.
[0005] However, the existing load limiter must not be used with a five-point safety belt because it has a belt support structure suitable for a two-point safety belt.
[0006] For example, the five-point safety belt has a belt support structure in which two shoulder straps are connected to a webbing on the back of the seat. The webbing is not wound onto a spool but attached directly to the vehicle. Therefore, the well-known load limiter, known as a webbing wrap load limiter, cannot be used on the five-point safety belt due to its design.
[0007] It is therefore necessary to develop a load limiter suitable for a five-point safety belt, as the use of the five-point safety belt is increasingly extended to baby vehicle seats as well as vehicle seats.
[0008] DE 10 2005 025 570 A1 discloses a child seat for vehicles that can be attached to a vehicle seat by means of a fastening system. The child seat comprises a belt system for securing a child sitting in the child seat, means for coupling a vehicle safety belt system, comprising a belt strap and a belt tensioning device, to the belt system of the child seat. The coupling means are designed such that activation of the belt tensioning device also tightens the child seat belt system. Furthermore, coupling means comprise a holder into which the belt strap provided on the vehicle can be hooked. The child seat is characterized in that it serves to accommodate the lap belt portion of the vehicle-side belt strap.US 2015 / 0 158 456 A1 discloses a vehicle safety seat with a seatbelt buffer mechanism attached to a shoulder belt and a crutch belt. The seatbelt buffer mechanism includes a first belt connection component attached to the shoulder belt, a second belt connection component attached to the crutch belt, and a pivotable component. The first belt connection component includes a first body in which a first pivot opening and a first buffer unit are formed, and a first belt attachment portion disposed on the first body. The first buffer unit is located proximate the first pivot opening. The second belt connection component is pivotally connected to the first belt connection component. The second belt connection component includes a second body having a second pivot opening fanned out thereon, and a second belt attachment portion disposed on the second body. The pivotable component extends through the first pivot opening and the second pivot opening. BRIEF OVERVIEW

[0021] It should be understood that the accompanying drawing figures are not necessarily to scale and represent a somewhat simplified representation of various features illustrating the basic principles of the invention. [0022] In the drawing figures, the reference numerals refer to the same or equivalent parts of the present invention in the various drawing figures of the drawing. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0023] With reference to the Fig. 1, a load limiter 1 includes a load limiter body 10, a webbing rod 20, a shoulder strap rod having a left shoulder strap rod 30 and a right shoulder strap rod 40, and a fastening element 50. In particular, the load limiter 1 is manufactured as a plate-shaped load limiter because the load limiter body 10 has a plate structure by press processing.
[0024] Hereinafter, the present embodiment will be described with reference to the load limiter body 10 that limits a load in two stages. However, this is merely an example, and its construction can be changed to limit a load in three or more stages, that is, in multiple stages, if necessary.
[0025] For example, the load limiter body 10 comprises an upper plate 10-1 and a lower plate 10-2, which are manufactured by press working. The upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2 have the same shape and structure, so that they overlap and are fastened by the fastening element 50. Furthermore, the upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2 have the same components, such as a belt body 12 and a shoulder belt body with a left shoulder belt body 13 and a right shoulder belt body 14. In this case, the belt body 12 limits a downward tensile force as a peak load (e.g., a belt tensile force Fa in Fig. 5), and the respective left and right shoulder belt bodies 13 and 14 of the shoulder belt body limit upward tensile forces as peak load (e.g. a left shoulder belt tensile force F b_left and a right shoulder belt tensile force F b_right in Fig. 5) multi-stage, so that the load limiter body 10 can act as a load limiter.
[0026] The left shoulder belt body 13 is inclined downward to the left of a triangular connecting body 12-1 formed on one side of the belt body 12, and the right shoulder belt body 14 is inclined downward to the right of the triangular connecting body 12-1, and thus the load limiter body 10 has an arrow shape (□□). Therefore, the triangular connecting body 12-1 is configured to expand a part of the belt body 12 to integrate the belt body 12 with the left and right shoulder belt bodies 13 and 14 and maintain the durability of the belt body 12 and the left and right shoulder belt bodies 13 and 14 when peak loads are applied thereto.
[0027] In addition, the belt body 12, the connecting body 12-1 and the left and right shoulder belt bodies 13 and 14 are formed with a fastening hole 11, a belt space 12a, a shoulder belt space, a rod seat portion 15 and a rod support portion.
[0028] The fastening hole 11 is formed in each of the belt body 12, the connecting body 12-1, and the left and right shoulder belt bodies 13 and 14, and is coupled to the fastening member 50 that fixes the upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2 in the state where they overlap each other. Therefore, the fastening holes 11 include a plurality of fastening holes in the correct position according to the number of fastening members.
[0029] The belt space 12a has a closed, empty, quadrangular shape (e.g. “□”) and is formed in the belt body 12 and the connecting body 12-1 in such a way that a belt strap 210 (see Fig. 8) is arranged in the belt compartment 12a. The shoulder belt compartment comprises a left shoulder belt compartment 13a and a right shoulder belt compartment 14a. The left shoulder belt compartment 13a has a one-sided open, empty quadrangular shape (e.g. "C") and is formed in the left shoulder belt body 13 such that a left shoulder belt 220-1 (see Fig. 8) is arranged in the left shoulder belt compartment 13a. The right shoulder belt compartment 14a has a one-sided open, empty quadrangular shape (e.g. "C") and is formed in the right shoulder belt body 14 such that a right shoulder belt 220-2 (see Fig. 8) is arranged in the right shoulder belt space 14a. Specifically, the square belt space and the left and right shoulder belt spaces 12a, 13a, and 14a each have four surfaces, two of which are facing surfaces, upper and lower, and the other two facing surfaces are left and right.
[0030] The rod seat portion 15 is formed on the bottom (or top) surfaces of the square belt spaces and the left and right shoulder belt spaces 12a, 13a, and 14a, respectively. The rod support portion includes a left rod support portion 16-1 and a right rod support portion 16-2. The left rod support portion 16-1 is formed on the left surface of the square belt space and the left and right shoulder belt spaces 12a, 13a, and 14a, respectively. The right rod support portion 16-2 is formed on the right surface of the square belt space and the left and right shoulder belt spaces 12a, 13a, and 14a, respectively. Therefore, the left and right rod support portions 16-1 and 16-2 face each other.
[0031] For example, the webbing rod 20 and the left and right shoulder belt rods 30 and 40 have the same circular cross-sectional shape, but differ in that the webbing rod 20 has a length adapted to the belt space 12a, the left shoulder belt rod 30 has a length adapted to the left shoulder belt space 13a, and the right shoulder belt rod 40 has a length adapted to the right shoulder belt space 14a. Therefore, both sides of the webbing rod 20 are fixed to the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in the belt space 12a. Both sides of the left shoulder belt rod 30 are fixed to the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in the left shoulder belt space 13a. Both sides of the right shoulder belt rod 40 are fixed to the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in the right shoulder belt space 14a.
[0032] For example, the fastening member 50 is a rivet, and the overlapping upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2 are fastened by blunting both end portions of the fastening member 50 protruding from the fastening hole 11 in the state where the fastening member 50 is mounted in the fastening hole 11, forming the load limiter body 10. However, the fastening member 50 may also be formed by a bolt and a nut.
[0033] Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 illustrate a detailed structure of the rod seat portion 15 and the left and right rod support portions 16-1 and 16-2.
[0034] Referring to Fig. 2, the rod seating portion 15 has a "C"-shaped rod groove 15a formed along its length. Since the rod groove 15a is a space in which the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 moves to the end portions of the left and right rod support portions and is then received, the end distance of the rod groove 15a (i.e., the gap formed by the overlapping upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2) is larger than the diameter of the rod. Therefore, the webbing rod 20 moved in the belt space 12a, the left shoulder belt rod 30 moved in the left belt space 13a, and the right shoulder belt rod 40 moved in the right belt space 14a are accommodated in the rod groove 15a.
[0035] Now referring to the Fig. 3, the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 have the same components, such as a rod holder 17, a limit load projection 17a and a load brake 18.
[0036] For example, in the state where the upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2 overlap, the rod holder 17 has a predetermined end-to-end pitch (e.g., circular space) (ie, the gap formed by the overlapping upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2) to wrap the end portion of the belt rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 at the predetermined end-to-end pitch, firmly holding the belt rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 until a peak load is applied thereto. In this case, the rod holder 17 is formed at a position biased in one direction at a distance from the longitudinal end portion of the left or right rod support portion 16-1 or 16-2.
[0037] The limit load projection 17a is formed in the rod holder 17 and causes the load brake 18 to have a conical shape. The conical limit load projection 17a has a diverging structure that extends from the rod holder 17 to the load brake 18. In this case, the limit load projection 17a has an end-to-end distance (i.e., the gap formed by the overlapping upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2) that is smaller than the diameter (or width) of the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40. Therefore, the limit load projection 17a is distorted at a peak load and allows the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 to migrate toward the load brake 18. Since the limit load projection 17a is distorted to establish a first load limit by absorbing impact energy, it acts as a load limiter.
[0038] For example, the load brake 18 extends in the longitudinal direction of the left or right rod support portion 16-1 or 16-2 from the limit load projection 17a and its end portion leads to the rod seat portion 15. In particular, the load brake 18 has a straight line end-to-end distance (i.e., the gap formed by the overlapping upper and lower plates 10-1 and 10-2) that is smaller than the diameter (or width) of the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 and larger than the end-to-end distance of the limit load projection 17a.Therefore, the deformation of the load brake 18 causes a continuous tensile force that restricts the movement of the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 passing through the limit load projection 17a and allows the webbing rod 20 or the left or right shoulder belt rod 30 or 40 to be received in the rod groove 15a of the rod seat portion 15. Since the load brake 18 is distorted to establish a second load limit by additionally absorbing impact energy, it acts as a load limiter.
[0039] As in Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3, in order to achieve an effect of the load limiter on many loads, the end-to-end distances of the limit load projection 17a and the load brake 18 and the diameters (or widths) of the webbing rod 20 and the left and right shoulder belt rods 30 and 40 can be set to different sizes instead of having the same size in the load limiter 1. Accordingly, compared with a conventional load limiter that limits only one load, an effect of reducing injury to an occupant by the occupant's weight can also be expected. Furthermore, it is possible to prevent damage to the load limiter 1 even though a load larger than an NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) collision load is applied thereto.
[0040] Fig. 4 illustrates an example of a seat 100. As shown in the drawing, the seat 100 includes a safety belt 200 with a load limiter 1.
[0041] The load limiter 1 is, for example, a plate-shaped load limiter, as described with reference to the Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and the Fig. 3. The seat 100 is illustrated as a vehicle seat or infant seat, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The safety belt 200 is a five-point safety belt having a webbing 210 and a shoulder belt 220 including a left shoulder belt 220-1 and a right shoulder belt 220-1. In this case, the safety belt 200 does not include a retractor, or the retractor is connected to the webbing 210.
[0042] Therefore, the load limiter 1 is configured such that the webbing 210 is connected to a webbing rod 20 secured in rod holders 17 of the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in a belt space 12a, the left shoulder belt 220-1 is connected to a left shoulder belt rod 30 secured in the rod holders 17 of the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in a left shoulder belt space 13a, and the right shoulder belt 220-1 is connected to a right shoulder belt rod 40 secured in the rod holders 17 of the left and right rod support sections 16-1 and 16-2 in a right shoulder belt space 14a. In the present case, the webbing 210 and the left and right shoulder straps 220-1 and 220-2 are respectively connected to the webbing rod 20 and the left and right shoulder straps 30 and 40 by wrapping and sewing.
[0043] The Fig. 5 to 8 illustrate a state in which the load limiter 1 connected to the seat belt 200 acts as such a load limiter that limits a load in two stages.
[0044] Fig. Figure 5 illustrates the movement of the load limiter 1 corresponding to the function of the safety belt 200 in the event of a collision. As shown in the drawing, a belt tensile force Fa, which is applied to the belt rod 20 by pulling the belt webbing 210, and a left shoulder belt tensile force F b_links , which is applied to the left shoulder belt rod 30 by pulling the left shoulder belt 220-1, and a right shoulder belt tensile force F b_rechts which is applied to the right shoulder belt rod 40 by pulling the right shoulder belt 220-2, as a peak load.
[0045] Accordingly, the belt tensile force Fa acts in the opposite direction to the left and right shoulder belt tensile forces F b_linksand F b_rechts , and the left shoulder belt tensile force F b_links and the right shoulder belt tensile force F b_rechts act in the same direction. Therefore, the belt tensile force Fa causes the webbing rod 20 fixed in the rod holders 17 to move into the rod groove 15a of the rod seat section 15, thereby deforming the limit load projection 17a and the load brake 18. Since the tensile forces of the left and right shoulder belts F b_left and F b_right act the same, in the state in which they are fixed in the rod holders 17, the left and right shoulder belt rods 30 and 40 move into the rod groove 15a of the rod seat section 15, respectively, with deformation of the limit load projection 17a and the load brake.
[0046] Fig. 6 illustrates the movement of the belt rod 20 from an initial position (a) to a final position (b) by the belt tension force Fa. As shown in the drawing figure, the limit load projection 17a causes a first load limitation F limit_1 by absorbing impact energy while being deformed due to its end-to-end spacing according to the movement of the webbing rod 20, thus acting as a load limiter. Subsequently, the load brake 18 performs a second load limiting F limit_2 by additionally absorbing impact energy and being deformed by its end-to-end spacing according to the movement of the webbing rod 20, thus acting as a load limiter. This stops the movement of the webbing rod 20 at an end position (b), so that the webbing rod 20 is received in the rod groove 15a of the rod seat portion 15.
[0047] Now referring to the Fig. 7, it can be seen that the webbing rod 20 and the left and right shoulder belt rods 30 and 40 each move to the end position (b) in which they are received in the rod groove 15a of the rod seat section 15.
[0048] With reference to the Fig. 8, the load limiter 1 is designed as a load limiter in such a way that the limit load projection 17a is the first load limit F limit_1 and the load brake 18 the second load limitation F limit_2 As a result, the load-time diagram shows that the reduction of the peak load in load limiter 1 is experimentally verifiable.
[0049] As described above, the seat belt 200 according to the present embodiment includes the load limiter 1 connected to the webbing 210 to which the downward tensile force is applied and the left and right shoulder belts 220-1 and 220-2 to which the upward tensile forces are applied, and the load limiter 1 absorbs energy by deformation to limit the downward and upward tensile forces in two stages, reduce peak loads, and prevent damage to the load limiter 1 even when a load larger than the NCAP (new car assessment program) collision load is applied.
[0050] As can be seen from the above description, the load limiter of the present invention, since it is in the form of a plate and is suitable for the five-point safety belt, has the following function and effect.
[0051] First, by adjusting the diameters of the shoulder belt rod and webbing rod, and the end distances of the limiting load protrusion and brake to different sizes, it is possible to achieve an effect of the load limiter on many loads. Second, compared with an existing load limiter that only limits one load, it is possible to achieve an effect that reduces the injury to an occupant caused by the occupant's weight. Third, the load limiter has a simple structure in which the upper and lower bodies are made of the same shape by pressing and the two bodies are fixed by rivets. Fourth, it is possible to reduce injury in the event of a collision by limiting the load to the belt, as is the case with the five-point harness or baby seat.Fifth, it is possible to overcome all the disadvantages of known load limiters, where it is difficult to maintain tolerances because they have a very small cross-sectional area at their operating part and are damaged when a load greater than the NCAP collision load or a load exceeding the ultimate stress is applied to them.
[0052] For the sake of clarity and accurate definition in the appended claims, the terms "upper", "lower", "inner", "outer", "top", "bottom", "upper", "lower", "up", "down", "front", "rear", "backward", "inside", "outside", "inward", "outside", "inner", "outer", "inside", "outside", "forward" and "backward" are used to describe features of the exemplary embodiments with respect to the positions of the features illustrated in the figures.
