Description

[0001] The disclosure relates to a collapsible stroller, in particular to a collapsible car seat stroller.

[0002] From DE 10 2014 111 141 A1, a stroller with optionally hidden adapters is known. The stroller comprises a frame and at least two adapters. A baby seat is optionally engaged with the stroller. The frame has a first and a second side that are opposite each other. The adapters are designed such that they optionally engage with the baby seat. One of the adapters is positioned on the first side of the frame and another adapter is positioned on the second side of the frame. The adapters are rotatable between a first and a second position. The adapters are visible in the first position and positioned such that they engage with the baby seat and hidden from view in the second position.

[0003] DE 10 2016 208 696 A1 discloses a folding mechanism for a car seat adapter, comprising an engagement member, an actuating member, and a drive member. The engagement member removably engages the car seat adapter to hold the car seat adapter in an unfolded position. The actuating member is operative to drive the engagement member to detach from the car seat adapter, allowing the car seat adapter to pivot relative to a frame. The drive member drives the car seat adapter to pivot to a folded position when the engagement member detaches from the car seat adapter.

[0004] From DE 20 2014 100 351 U1, a folding joint is known, comprising a connecting element comprising two opposite end portions and defining a receiving space; a pair of pivoting components, each having a connecting end portion pivotally connected to a corresponding one of the end portions of the connecting element; and an engaging element received in the receiving space and displaceable within the receiving space along a pivot axis direction of the pivoting elements. The engaging element is movable between an engaged position, in which the engaging element engages with the pivoting elements, and a released position, in which the engaging element is disengaged from the pivoting elements to permit pivoting of the pivoting elements relative to the connecting element to collapse the folding joint.

[0005] From US 2015 / 0 329 017 A1 a child car seat assembly is known, comprising at least two hubs, a pair of front legs and a pair of rear legs attached to the hubs at their uppermost ends and at least two wheel assemblies attached to their lowermost ends, as well as at least two adapters configured to releasably attach the hubs to the child car seat.

[0006] For caregivers who may need to transport the young child in a car seat, a frame can be attached to the car seat to facilitate transport of the young child in places such as supermarkets and airports.

[0007] Currently, two options for such a framework are available. With reference to Fig. 1, a conventional car seat stroller frame can be folded to reduce its volume, but still has a relatively large volume when folded and must be stored in a trunk. With reference to Fig. 2, a car seat pushchair has a reduced volume when folded compared to the car seat stroller frame, but has no storage options and places the small child in a less than ideal position close to the ground.

[0008] Therefore, the object of the disclosure is to provide a foldable car seat that can mitigate the disadvantages of the prior art.

[0009] According to a first aspect of the disclosure, a collapsible car seat carriage is adapted for mounting a car seat thereon. The collapsible car seat carriage comprises a frame unit and an engagement unit.

[0011] Each of the legs has an upper and a lower leg end, which are opposite one another, and a turntable half formed at the upper leg end. The turntable halves of the legs are rotatably connected to one another such that the legs can pivot relative to one another.

[0012] The drive mechanism has opposite ends pivotally connected to the legs at a first and a second cutting area.

[0013] The engagement unit comprises two bayonet parts. Each of the bayonet parts has a connecting portion pivotally connected to the drive mechanism of a respective one of the leg frames.

[0014] In each of the leg frames, a change in a distance between the first and second intersection areas of the drive mechanism and the legs during a pivoting action of the legs converts a position of the engagement unit relative to the legs.

[0015] According to a second aspect of the disclosure, a collapsible car seat carriage is adapted for mounting a car seat thereon. The collapsible car seat carriage comprises a frame unit and an engagement unit.

[0016] The frame unit comprises two leg frames spaced apart in a left-right direction. Each leg frame comprises two legs and a drive mechanism.

[0017] Each of the legs has an upper and a lower leg end, which are opposite one another, and a turntable half formed at the upper leg end. The turntable halves of the legs are rotatably connected to one another such that the legs can pivot relative to one another.

[0018] The drive mechanism has opposite ends that are pivotally connected to the legs.

[0019] The engagement unit comprises two bayonet parts. Each of the bayonet parts has a connecting portion pivotally connected to the drive mechanism of a respective one of the leg frames at a third intersection area.

[0020] In each of the leg frames, a change in a distance between the turntable halves and the third intersection area of the drive mechanism and a respective one of the bayonet parts during a pivoting action of the legs converts a position of the engagement unit relative to the legs.

[0021] According to a third aspect of the disclosure, a collapsible car seat carriage is adapted for mounting a car seat thereon. The collapsible car seat carriage comprises a frame unit and an engagement unit.

[0022] The frame unit comprises two leg frames spaced apart in a left-right direction. Each leg frame comprises two legs and a drive mechanism.

[0023] Each of the legs has an upper and a lower leg end, which are opposite one another, and a turntable half formed at the upper leg end. The turntable halves of the legs are rotatably connected to one another such that the legs can pivot relative to one another.

[0024] The drive mechanism has opposite ends that are pivotally connected to the legs.

[0025] The engagement unit comprises two bayonet parts. Each of the bayonet parts has a connecting portion pivotally connected to the drive mechanism of a respective one of the leg frames.

[0026] The engaging unit is driven to move relative to the legs of the leg frames when a distance between the lower leg ends of the legs of each of the leg frames is changed.

[0027] Other features and advantages of the disclosure will become apparent from the following detailed description of the embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which: Fig. Figure 1 is a side view of a conventional car seat stroller frame; Fig. Figure 2 is a side view of a conventional car seat pushchair; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one embodiment of a collapsible car seat stroller according to the disclosure installed on a car seat; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the embodiment, illustrating a frame unit of the embodiment in an assembled state; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the embodiment, illustrating a frame unit of the embodiment in a folded state; Fig. 6 is a partial perspective view illustrating a turntable of the embodiment; Fig. 7 is a partial sectional view illustrating the rotary disk and a bayonet part of the embodiment; Fig. 8 is a partial perspective view illustrating a basket assembly of the embodiment; Fig. 9 is a partial side view illustrating a wheel of the embodiment; Fig. 10 is a perspective view of the bayonet part; Fig. Figure 11 is a partial side view illustrating the bayonet member in an extended position; Fig. Figure 12 is a partial side view illustrating the bayonet member in a retracted position; Fig. 13 is a partial sectional view illustrating the bayonet part in the extended position; and Fig. 14 is a partial perspective view illustrating an engaging piston of the car seat engaging with the bayonet portion of the embodiment.

[0028] With reference to Fig. Figure 3 shows an embodiment of a collapsible car seat adapted for mounting a car seat 20 thereon. A basket (not shown) may also be attached to provide storage space. The collapsible car seat comprises a frame unit 1 and an engagement unit 2.

[0029] With reference to Fig. 4 and Fig. 5, the frame unit 1 comprises two leg frames 11 spaced apart in a left-right direction (D1), a basket assembly 15, four wheels 16 and at least one rod 17.

[0030] Each of the leg frames 11 includes a knob 12, two legs 13, a drive mechanism 14 and a lock 18.

[0031] Each of the legs 13 includes a leg body 130 having upper and lower leg ends 131, 132 opposite each other, and a turntable half 133 formed at the upper leg end 131. The turntable halves 133 of the legs 13 are rotatably connected to each other such that the legs 13 are pivotable relative to each other. In this embodiment, the turntable half 133 and the leg body 130 are molded as one piece in each of the legs 13. In this embodiment, the legs 13 are manufactured using gas-assisted injection molding.

[0032] With reference to Fig. 7, the rotary knobs 12 of the leg frames 11 protrude parallel to the left-right direction (D1). In this embodiment, the rotary knobs 12 protrude relative to each other. In each of the leg frames 11, the rotary knob 12 has a neck segment 121 protruding from the rotary disk halves 133 of the legs 13, and a head segment 122 connected to a distal end of the neck segment 121 and having a larger diameter than the neck segment 121. The frame unit 1 is operable via a pivoting movement between the legs 13 of each of the leg frames 11 to switch between an assembled state (see Fig. 3 and Fig. 4), in which the lower leg ends 132 of the two legs 13 of each of the leg frames 11 are distal to each other, and a folded state (see Fig. 5) in which the lower leg ends 132 of the two legs 13 of each of the leg frames 11 are proximal to each other. In this embodiment, the lock 18 is operable to allow conversion of the frame unit 1 between the assembled state and the folded state.

[0033] With reference to Fig. 6, the drive mechanism 14 for each of the leg frames 11 comprises two links 140, each pivotally connected to the legs 13 at a first and second intersection 141, 142, and pivotally connected to each other. The intersection of the links 140 is biased upward toward the turntable halves 133 of the legs 13 when the frame unit 1 is converted from the folded state to the assembled state.

[0034] With reference to Fig. 8, the basket assembly 15 is adapted for supporting the basket and includes two U-shaped basket tubes 151 pivotally connected between the leg frames 11, two basket hinges 152 connecting the basket tubes 151, and a U-shaped basket support wire 153. The basket hinges 152 are each connected to two ends of one of the basket tubes 151 and each to two ends of the other of the basket tubes 151 such that the basket tubes 151 are pivotable relative to each other. The basket support wire 153 is connected to the basket hinges 152, connected between the basket tubes 151, and adapted to support the basket. When the frame unit 1 is in the assembled state, the basket tubes 151 are in an inverted V-shaped attachment with an angle therebetween being substantially 160 degrees, so that the basket hinges 152 are driven to move upward during conversion of the frame unit 1 from the assembled state to the folded state.

[0035] With reference to Fig. 9, the wheels 16 are each connected to the lower leg ends 132 of the legs 13 of the leg frames 11. In this embodiment, the wheels 16 are swivel casters, and each of the wheels 16 includes a swivel housing 161 connected to the lower leg end 131 of a respective leg 13 via a thrust bearing 1611 above the swivel housing 161 and a radial bearing 1612 below, and a caster wheel 162 connected to the swivel housing 161 with a rivet axle 1621.

[0036] With further reference to Fig. 5, the leg frames 11 are connected to each other by the at least one rod 17. Specifically, the at least one rod 17 extends in the left-right direction (D1) and is firmly connected between the legs 13 of the leg frames 11 such that an angle defined between the legs 13 of one of the leg frames 11 remains the same as that of the other of the leg frames 11. In this embodiment, the at least one rod 17 comprises two rods 17.

[0037] The engagement unit 2 comprises two bayonet parts 21. With reference to Fig. 10, each of the bayonet parts 21 has a rail section 211, a connecting section 212 and a retaining lock 213.

[0038] With further reference to Fig. 7, the rail portion 211 of each of the bayonet parts 21 is slidably coupled to the rotary knob 12 of a respective one of the leg frames 11.

[0039] With reference to Fig. 11 and Fig. 12, the connecting portion 212 of each of the bayonet parts 21 is connected to the rail portion 211 and is pivotally connected to an intersection of the connections 140 of the drive mechanism 14 of the respective leg frame 11 at a third intersection 143. During a conversion of the frame unit 1 from the assembled state to the folded state, each of the bayonet parts 21 is driven by the drive mechanism 14 of the respective leg frame 11 to move relative to the rotary knob 12 from an extended position (see Fig. 11), in which an upper end of the bayonet part 21 is distal from the respective one of the leg frames 11 to allow the bayonet part 21 to be coupled to the car seat 20, in a retracted position (see Fig. 12) downward, in which the upper end of the bayonet part 21 is adjacent to the respective one of the leg frames 11. Conversely, each of the bayonet parts 21 is moved upward by the drive mechanism 14 of the respective one of the leg frames 11 during a conversion of the frame unit 1 from the folded state to the assembled state to the extended position. For each of the leg frames 11, a change in a distance between the first and second intersection areas 141, 142 of the drive mechanism 14 and the legs 13 during a pivoting action of the legs 13 converts a position of the engagement unit 2 relative to the legs. In each of the leg frames 11, a change in a distance between the turntable halves 133 and the third intersection portion 143 of the drive mechanism 14 and a respective one of the bayonet parts 21 during a pivoting action of the legs 13 also converts a position of the engaging unit 2 relative to the legs 13.Since the links 140 of the drive mechanism 14 are pivotally connected to the legs 13 and the respective bayonet portion 21 of each of the leg frames 11, the engagement unit 2 is driven to move relative to the legs 13 of the leg frames 11 when a distance between the lower leg ends 132 of the legs 13 of each of the leg frames 11 is changed. In the retracted position, the bayonet portions 21 overlap the leg frames 11 to reduce a volume in the folded state of the folding car seat stroller.

[0040] With reference to Fig. 13, the retaining stop 213 of each of the bayonet parts 21 protrudes from the connecting portion 212 and abuts the rotary knob 12 of the respective leg frame 11 when the bayonet part 21 is in the extended position. In this embodiment, the retaining stop 213 is a flexi-finger stop to allow easy attachment of the bayonet part 21 to the rotary disk 12.

[0041] With further reference to Fig. 7 and Fig. 10, in this embodiment, the rail portion 211 of each of the bayonet pieces 21 is inverted U-shaped, is formed with an inverted U-shaped engagement recess 2111, has a greater thickness in the left-right direction (D1) than the connecting portion 212, and cooperates with the connecting portion 212 to define a receiving space 210 therebetween. The receiving space 210 of each of the bayonet pieces 21 receives the knob 12 of the respective leg frames 11 with the engagement recess 2111 of the rail portion 211 of the bayonet piece 21 engaged with the head segment 122 of the knob 12 of the respective leg frames 11.

[0042] With reference to Fig.14, the car seat 20 includes two engaging pistons 201 (only one is shown) protruding from a seat body of the car seat 20, and each of the bayonet pieces 21 further includes a piston engaging hole 214 formed in the connecting portion 212 and engaging with a respective one of the pistons 201. The engaging pistons 201 are operable via a release button 202 to respectively disengage from the piston engaging hole 214 of the bayonet pieces 21 and retract into the seat body.

[0043] To convert the frame unit 1 from the folded state to the assembled state, a user grasps the turntables 12 and pushes down on the locks 18 of the leg frames 11 while pressing the wheels 16 against the ground. The wheels 16 allow the legs 13 of each of the leg frames 11 to pivot relative to each other until the angle between the legs 13 is at a predetermined angle and the turntable halves 133 of the legs 13 lock the frame unit 1 in the assembled state. Upon converting the frame unit 1 to the assembled state, the bayonet parts 21 are driven upward to the extended position. When the bayonet parts 21 are in the extended position, the car seat 20 can be installed on the engagement unit 2 by lowering the car seat 20 onto the engagement unit 2 until the engagement pistons 201 respectively engage the piston engagement holes 214 of the bayonet parts 21.

[0044] When the user presses the release button 202 to retract the engagement pistons 201, the car seat 20 can be disengaged from the engagement unit 2 and removed from the folding car seat trolley. To convert the frame unit 1 from the deployed state to the folded state, once the car seat 20 has been removed, the locks 18 are pushed down and the frame unit 1 is lifted from the ground to allow the weight of the legs 13 to drive the leg frames 11 to automatically fold. Upon converting the frame unit 1 to the folded state, the bayonet parts 21 are driven down to the retracted position to reduce the volume in the folded state of the folding car seat trolley.

[0045] The embodiment of the folding car seat trolley has the advantage of a small folded volume, achieved by the retractable bayonet parts, while retaining features such as the option of adding a basket for storage space. The relatively small folded volume of the folding car seat trolley allows it to be stored in a footwell area of a car rather than the trunk of the car for quick storage and retrieval. In this embodiment, a pole is not included, and it is contemplated that the folding car seat trolley will be moved using a handle of the car seat 20, further reducing the folded volume.
