Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a display device for a motor vehicle according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method.
[0002] The integration of displays for entertainment media or rear seat entertainment in vehicles, particularly for entertaining rear passengers and thus achieving a high level of travel comfort, has so far only been partially solved. Today's displays generally have display surfaces that are designed as LCD, OLED or plasma displays, for example, and show on-screen information. Especially with mobile devices such as mobile phones, there is usually a dilemma between the size of the display or screen and the size of the mobile phone itself in order to be able to operate, hold and / or stow the device easily and comfortably. The first mobile phones with collapsible or foldable displays are already on the market, where folding and unfolding is carried out manually by the user.
[0003] DE 10 2015 015 694 B3 discloses a method for operating a display device for a motor vehicle, in which objects are displayed on a touch-sensitive and foldable display device of the display device. As a first step, a user performs at least one folding of the display device. Furthermore, as a second step, the objects are displayed on at least one main surface of the display device and on at least one side surface of the display device arranged at an angle to the main surface, depending on the folding.
[0004] US Pat. No. 6,144,550 A discloses an inflatable and collapsible screen for electronic devices. The devices include, for example, portable computers, television screens, LCDs, and the like, which have a screen area the size of a conventional and comparable portable computer. Upon deflation, the screen folds into a small package for storage and / or transport.
[0005] Furthermore, DE 10 2017 220 975 A1 discloses a rearview mirror for a vehicle for improving the comfort of a vehicle occupant when using a screen. The rearview mirror is designed to be hinged and includes an integrated screen that becomes visible when the rearview mirror is opened.
[0006] Finally, US 2019 / 0 307 257 A1 discloses a device that can be used to support patients in an upright position and can be used on any surface. The device can allow users to vary the angle of support and can be controlled via a simple interface, such as a button, a remote control, or controls on an electronic interface device. This allows patients to be supported during treatment and recovery to remain in an upright position.
[0007] It is an object of the invention to provide a display device and a method so that a particularly advantageous operation can be realized.
[0008] This object is achieved by means of a display device and a method having the features of the independent patent claims. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent patent claims and the description.
[0009] The display device according to the invention for a motor vehicle, in particular for a passenger car, comprises at least a first surface segment and a second surface segment, which are connected to one another, in particular in an articulated manner, by means of a folding mechanism arranged on a rear side of the display device. The folding mechanism is designed to adjust the surface elements relative to one another and thus the display device between a use position, in which the surface segments form a common display surface of the display device, and a stowed position, in which the surface segments are at least substantially folded over one another. The common display surface is to be understood in particular as meaning that the first surface segment forms or has a first part of the display surface and the second surface segment forms or has a second part of the display surface, wherein in the position of use the parts are arranged next to one another and together or jointly form the display surface. In particular, the parts designed as surface parts are arranged in a common plane in the position of use, for example, wherein the respective part can be at least substantially planar, for example. In this case the display surface is planar, for example. However, it is also conceivable that the respective part is curved or arcuate, so that the display surface can be curved or arcuate or have the curved or arcuate parts. In this case, in particular in the position of use, the rear side of the display surface faces away. Thus, for example, the first surface segment forms a first back part of the back, and the second surface segment forms, for example, a second back part of the back. In the use position, the back parts are arranged next to one another, for example, and together form the back. The respective back part faces away from the respective part of the respective surface segment, also referred to as the display part or display area part.
[0010] In order to enable particularly advantageous folding and unfolding of the display device and thus particularly advantageous operation of the display device, in particular automatically or without external intervention by a person, the folding mechanism is provided with an inflatable air element. By changing the volume of the inflatable air element, the articulated surface segments of the display device can be adjusted about a pivot axis between the use position and the stowed position.
[0011] For example, in order to move the display device from the stowed position to the use position, a fluid such as a gas, in particular air, is introduced into the air element, thereby increasing the volume of the air element and thus causing the volume of the air element to increase. For example, in the use position, the volume of the air element is maximized by supplying air, which makes the air element particularly rigid. The increase in volume causes, for example, the surface segments to fold apart. For example, in order to move the display device from the use position to the stowed position, the fluid is drained from the air element or an outflow of the fluid from the air element is permitted. This reduces the volume of the air element and thus causes the volume of the air element to decrease or shrink. This allows the surface segments to be folded onto or together, or allows the surface segments to be folded onto or together. For example, the air element is elastically tensioned or stretched in the use position, so that the air element contracts, particularly automatically, when the fluid is discharged from the air element or when the fluid is allowed to flow out of the air element.
[0012] For example, the air element is connected to the surface segments, in particular in such a way that a tensile force can be transferred from the air element to the respective surface segment. For example, when the air element contracts as a result of the fluid being discharged from the air element, the air element exerts a respective tensile force on the initially unfolded surface segments, causing the surface segments to fold together or onto one another. This adjusts the display device from the use position to the stowed position. The air element is formed, for example, from an elastically deformable material, in particular from an elastically deformable plastic such as rubber. Thus, it can be provided that the air element is elastically tensioned or stretched in the position of use, so that the air element, for example, provides the aforementioned tensile force as a spring force, by means of which the surface segments are folded onto one another when the fluid is discharged or flows out of the air element.
[0013] Furthermore, it is conceivable that at least one spring element is provided in addition to the air element, which is tensioned at least in the use position and thereby provides a spring force. The spring force acts, for example, at least indirectly, in particular directly, on the surface segments. As a result of the fluid being discharged from the air element, the surface elements, which are in the use position and have thus initially been unfolded, can be folded together. This makes it possible to achieve an essentially continuous adjustment of the display device that is gentle on the display surface. The air element can, for example, be cylindrical and / or tubular and thus designed as an air hose and can be arranged essentially transversely to a folding or pivoting axis of the display device, also referred to as the adjustment axis, whereby the stiffening or increase in volume of the air element unfolds the surface segments. For example, the air element, particularly at least in the use position, has a longitudinal extension direction that runs obliquely, perpendicularly, or parallel to an adjustment axis, also referred to as the pivot axis, about which the surface segments can be pivoted relative to one another when adjusting the display device between the stowed position and the use position—that is, they can be folded apart and onto one another. Furthermore, it is conceivable for the air element to be designed as an air cushion or have another shape.
[0014] It is conceivable for the fluid to flow out of the air element by allowing the fluid to flow out of the air element, resulting in the air element contracting, in particular automatically. Alternatively or additionally, it is conceivable for the fluid to be actively pumped out of the air element, in particular sucked out, by means of at least one pump. This minimizes, for example, the volume of the air element in the stowed position, so that the installation space requirement can be kept particularly small. For example, the air element itself is flexible or pliable, so that, for example, the air guide element is foldable, in particular as a result of the fluid being discharged from the air element, and can be folded up using the folding mechanism.Furthermore, the speed at which the volume change occurs can be adjusted depending on use or need, particularly by using the pump. For example, the adjustment to the stowed position can be adjusted to a predetermined time for shutting down or turning off the display device. In particular, the display device can have additional positions or positions in addition to the use position and the stowed position, allowing the air element to participate in the stiffening or volume increase as an adjustable component of the display device.
[0015] An advantageous embodiment provides that the inflatable air element is designed to lie flat against the rear side in the stowed position. In other words, it is preferably provided that the air guiding element lies flat against the rear side in the stowed position. This makes it possible to keep the installation space requirement particularly low. In addition, the flat fit means that a particularly high number of surface segments of the display device, compared to two, can be folded one above the other in the use position in a space-saving manner, so that the display surface is particularly large in the use position, but the display device in the stowed position requires only a small amount of installation space. In the use position, the air guiding element can lie flat against the rear side and can be flat or curved. The air element is preferably made from an at least partially flexible, in particular flexible, material. In this way, any impairment of the folding action due to the at least partially flexible material of the air element is essentially avoided. In particular, the folding or folding arrangement of the surface segments is at least partially variable.
[0016] A further advantageous embodiment provides that the display device is designed to control the volume change of the air element by means of an included electrically operated pump. In other words, it is preferably provided that the display device has a pump, or the aforementioned pump, by means of which the fluid is to be pumped into the air guiding element and / or out of the air guiding element. Alternatively or additionally, an electronic computing device, in particular of the display device, can be provided which can actuate and thereby control or regulate the pump, whereby the fluid is to be pumped into the air guiding element and / or out of the air guiding element by means of the pump. The pump is fluidically connected to the air element, for example by means of a line element, in particular designed as a hose. The pump is designed, for example, to both pump air into the air element, in particular via the line element, and to pump air out of the air element, in particular via the line element, in particular to suck it out. By means of the pump and the folding mechanism, in particular by setting different volumes of the air element, the display device can also be adjusted into at least one or more further positions, in particular different from the use position and the stowed position, which positions lie, for example, between the stowed position and the use position. The surface segments of the display device can be adjusted at a certain angle to one another. In other words, the surface segments in the respective further position enclose an angle with one another which is, for example, less than or greater than 180 degrees. For example, in the respective further position, the surface segments can be held or fixed relative to one another by means of the air element. Furthermore, it is conceivable that the surface segments are held in the use position and / or in the stowed position, in particular exclusively, by means of the air element. Furthermore, it is possible that at least one, in particular mechanical, fixing device is provided in addition to the air element, by means of which the surface segments are held, i.e. locked or fixed, relative to one another in the use position and / or in the stowed position and / or in the further position. The fixing device can, for example, lock the surface segments relative to one another in a form-fitting manner. Furthermore, it is conceivable that the fixing device has a magnet, in particular a permanent magnet, which provides or can provide a magnetic field. The surface segments can be locked relative to one another by means of the magnetic field or by means of a magnetic force resulting from the magnetic field and acting at least indirectly, in particular directly, on the respective surface segment.
[0017] In a further embodiment, the shared display surface, and thus the first surface segment and the second surface segment, form a planar surface in the use position. This allows, for example, a person in the interior of the motor vehicle, such as the driver of the vehicle or a rear passenger, who is viewing the display surface, to have a complete view of the display surface, thereby avoiding reflections and shadows that could be caused by angled surface segments. In particular, the volume of the air element is minimal, so that a change in volume initiates adjustment, for example, into the stowed position.
[0018] A further embodiment provides that the inflatable air element is designed as a spring element. This can be achieved, for example, by the air element being formed from an elastically deformable material, as described above. The spring element is, for example, tensioned at least in the use position and can therefore provide a spring force, at least in the use position, which acts, for example, as a tensile force on the respective surface segment, at least indirectly, in particular directly. By means of the spring force, the surface segments can be folded onto one another, whereby the display device is adjusted from the use position into the stowed position. Furthermore, the spring element can, for example, dampen a shock acting on the display device, in particular on its rear side. This prevents damage to the display device, especially to any sensitive edges provided on the display device, for example, if it is opened by external influences. Furthermore, it is conceivable that if the display device is fixed to a corresponding component of the motor vehicle, vibrations of the display device can be dampened by means of the spring element.
[0019] In a further embodiment, the inflatable air element is designed to be removable without damage, particularly to the respective surface segment and / or to the back, thus allowing replacement of the air element. In the event of potential damage, a technician can replace it without having to replace the entire display device.
[0020] In a further embodiment, it is provided that the display device comprises at least a second inflatable air element, wherein the second inflatable air element is attached or arranged at a predetermined distance from the first inflatable air element. In this case, the previous and following statements regarding the first air element can easily be transferred to the second air element and vice versa. In this case, it is conceivable that the pump is a pump common to the air elements, by means of which the fluid is to be pumped into the air elements and / or out of the air elements. Furthermore, it is conceivable that the air elements or their longitudinal extension directions run at least substantially parallel to one another.
[0021] Both air elements can, for example, be attached or run in a linear manner, in particular in a straight line, along respective outer edges of the surface segments, in particular those facing away from one another, whereby the surface segments can be particularly easily unfolded. Furthermore, a surface or an intermediate space can be arranged between the air elements, in which or in which at least one or more further components of the display device, such as cabling or connecting hoses, can be arranged. The air elements can be fluidically connected to one another and / or, in particular directly, to the pump of the display device by means of the connecting hose(s).
[0022] A further embodiment provides that the display device comprises at least one closure element designed to hold the display device in the stowed position. The closure element can, for example, prevent the surface segments from unfolding due to external influences. The closure element is, for example, the aforementioned fixing device or a component of the fixing device.
[0023] In a further embodiment, the display device comprises at least one retaining element designed to hold the display device in the use position. Analogous to the closure element, the retaining element can hold the display device in the use position by means of a mechanism or a magnetic force, thereby preventing it from folding or unfolding due to external influences. The retaining element can also protect the inflatable air element, as it prevents unwanted adjustment of the display device without the associated change in volume. The retaining element can be the aforementioned fixing device or a component of the fixing device.
[0024] In a method according to the invention for adjusting a display device for a motor vehicle, in particular one according to the invention, at least a first surface segment and a second surface segment of the display device are adjusted between a use position and a stowed position by means of a folding mechanism arranged on a rear side of the display device, via which the surface segments are coupled to one another, in particular in an articulated manner. In the use position, the surface segments form a common display surface of the display device. In the stowed position, the surface segments are at least substantially folded over one another.
[0025] In order to realize particularly advantageous operation of the display device, it is provided that the surface segments are adjusted between the use position and the stowed position by changing the volume of an inflatable air element of the folding mechanism. Advantages and advantageous embodiments of the display device according to the invention are to be regarded as advantages and advantageous embodiments of the method according to the invention, and vice versa.
[0026] Further features of the invention will become apparent from the claims, the figures, and the description of the figures. The invention will now be explained in more detail using preferred embodiments and with reference to the drawings. It shows: Fig. 1 a schematic sectional view of a first embodiment of a display device according to the invention with two surface segments in a use position and in a stowed position; and Fig. 2 a schematic sectional view of a second embodiment of the display device with three surface segments in the use position and in the stowed position.
[0027] Fig. 1 shows a schematic sectional view of a first embodiment of a display device 10 for a motor vehicle, in particular for a passenger car. This means that the motor vehicle, in its fully manufactured state, has the display device 10, which is arranged, for example, in the interior of the motor vehicle, also referred to as the passenger compartment. In the first embodiment, the display device 10 has at least or exactly two surface segments 12, 14, wherein the surface segment 12 is also referred to as the first surface segment 12 and the surface segment 14 is also referred to as the second surface segment 14. The surface segments 12, 14 are articulated to one another by means of a folding mechanism 16 of the display device and can thus be pivoted, i.e. folded, relative to one another between a use position G and a stowed position V about a pivot axis 30, also referred to as the folding axis. The folding mechanism is arranged on a rear side 20 of the display device 10 and is designed so that the display device 10 can be adjusted between the use position G and the stowed position V. In the use position G, the surface segments 12, 14 form a common display surface 22 of the display device 10, which is a planar surface or is arranged in a plane and can present a flush or uninterrupted image for a viewer of the display surface 22. This is to be understood in particular that the display surface 22 preferably extends uninterruptedly across the pivot axis 30. Thus, for example, the display surface 22 is a foldable or bendable electronic display or is formed by such a foldable or bendable electronic display, which is also referred to as a display. In the use position G, the surface segments 12, 14 are arranged next to one another, in particular along a first direction running perpendicular to the folding axis (pivot axis 30).
[0028] In the stowed position V, however, both surface segments 12, 14 are at least partially, in particular at least predominantly or completely, folded over one another or onto one another, in particular along a second direction running perpendicular to the folding axis and perpendicular to the aforementioned first direction. This allows, for example, the display device 10 to be stowed in a space-saving manner, in particular by means of a stowage mechanism of the motor vehicle, in a storage space provided for this purpose, such as a drawer.
[0029] In order to be able to realize particularly advantageous operation of the display device 10, the folding mechanism 16 has at least or exactly one inflatable air element 18, by changing the volume of which the display device 10 can be adjusted between the use position G and the stowed position V. This change in volume can be brought about by a pump 24 which is assigned to the display device 10 and can, for example, be electrically operated and / or electrically controllable and thus controllable or regulatable, and which can be a component of the display device 10. In order to, for example, increase the volume of the air element 18 and thereby, for example, move the display device 10 from the stowed position V to the use position G, air can be pumped into the air element 18 by means of the pump 24. This inflates the air element 18.Alternatively or additionally, it is conceivable that air can be pumped out, in particular sucked out, from the air element 18 by means of the pump 24. This causes a reduction in the volume of the air element 18, whereby the display device 10 is moved from the use position G to the stowed position V.
[0030] For example, in the use position G, the volume of the air element 18 is maximized by supplying air, whereby the air element 18 is stiffened and the two surface segments 12, 14 fold apart and are held firmly in the use position G. By uniformly supplying or introducing the air into the air element 18, an at least substantially continuous and thus gentle adjustment of the display device 10 can be performed. The air element 18 can, for example, be at least substantially cylindrical and / or tubular or cuboid-shaped, particularly at least in the use position.
[0031] The air element 18 is fastened to a first outer edge 26 of the first surface segment 12 and to a second outer edge 28 of the second surface segment 14 and / or extends, for example, in particular continuously, from the outer edge 26 to the outer edge 28 facing away from the outer edge 26, wherein the respective outer edge 26, 28 is arranged, for example, opposite a respective folding edge of the respective surface segment 12, 14. In this case, the folding edges face one another, for example. The pivot axis 30 is arranged on or between the folding edges. The surface segments 12, 14 can be folded relative to one another in a wing-like manner. The air element 18 or its longitudinal extension direction, which runs in particular along the first direction or parallel to the first direction, is arranged at least substantially transversely, i.e. perpendicularly to the respective folding edge or to the pivot axis 30 of the display device 10.For example, a first end 32 of the air element 18 is fixed to the first outer edge 26 of the surface segment 12, and a second end 34 of the air element 18 is fixed, for example, to the second outer edge 28 of the surface segment 14. It is possible to fix the air element 18 to the respective folding edge of the respective surface segment 12, 14 in order to thereby achieve particularly high stability of the display device 10. In particular, it is provided that the air element 18 is fixed to the rear side 20 or to the respective surface segment 12, 14 in a non-destructively detachable manner, thereby enabling replacement of the air element 18.
[0032] Since air is preferably sucked out of the air element 18 to adjust the display device 10 into the stowed position V, thereby reducing its volume, the air element 18 rests, for example, in a strip-shaped and / or flat manner against the rear side 20 of the display device 10 or the surface segments in the stowed position V. The air element 18 is flexibly foldable and can thus be folded or folded together with the surface segments 12, 14 by means of the folding mechanism 16. Furthermore, a second inflatable air element 42 can be provided, which is mounted at a distance and / or at least substantially parallel to the first air element 18. The inflatable air elements can be fluidically connected to one another or directly to the pump 24 of the display device 10 by means of at least one or more connecting elements, in particular connecting hoses.
[0033] It is conceivable that the surface segments 12, 14 can be moved into at least one additional position which is different from the use position G and the stowage position V and is provided therein, in particular by means of the air element 18. In this case, the surface segments 12, 14 can be held relative to one another in the use position G and / or the stowage position V and / or the further position, for example by means of the air element 18 and / or by means of a fixing device provided in addition to the air element 18, whereby undesired relative movements between the surface segments 12, 14 are avoided in the use position G, the stowage position V and / or the further position.
[0034] The inflatable air element 18 is additionally designed as a spring element 36. In this case, the air element 18 is formed, for example, from an elastically deformable material, in particular rubber. The spring element 36 is elastically tensioned or stretched at least in the use position G and thereby provides a spring force that acts at least indirectly, in particular directly, on the surface segments 12, 14 and functions as a restoring force. If the air is sucked out of the air element 18, the air element 18 can relax independently, whereby the surface segments 12, 14 are folded onto one another or together by means of the restoring force. Alternatively or additionally, it is conceivable for the display device 10 to be held to a corresponding structural element, in particular in the interior, via the spring element 36.Thus, for example, vibrations of the display device 10 can be transmitted by means of the spring element 36 or vibrations of the component can be prevented from being excessively transmitted to the display device 1β by means of the spring element 36.
[0035] The display device 10 comprises at least one closure element 38, which is, for example, a component of the fixing device and holds the display device 10 or the surface segments 12, 14 relative to one another in the stowed position V. In addition, the display device 10 comprises a holding element 40, which is, for example, a component of the fixing device and holds the display device 10 or the surface segments 12, 14 relative to one another in the use position G. Both the closure element 38 and the holding element 40 can, for example, hold the surface segments 12, 14 mechanically, in particular in a form-fitting and / or frictional manner, and / or magnetically, i.e., by magnetic force, relative to one another, i.e., fix them, thereby preventing folding and unfolding due to external influences. In addition, the air element 18 can be protected by means of the holding element 40, since a forcible adjustment of the display device 10 without the associated volume change is prevented.
[0036] Fig. 2 shows a schematic sectional view of a second embodiment of the display device 10, which comprises at least or exactly one third surface segment 44. The surface segments 12, 14, 44 are hingedly coupled to one another by means of the folding mechanism 16, such that the surface segments 14, 44 can be pivoted relative to one another about a second pivot axis 50. The pivot axis 50 is spaced from the pivot axis 30 and runs parallel to the pivot axis 30. In the use position G, the surface segments 12, 14, 44 are arranged next to one another along the first direction, and in the stowed position V, the surface segments 12, 14, 44 are arranged one above the other or on top of one another along the second direction.
[0037] Out of Fig.1 that in the first embodiment, in the stowed position, the surface segments 12, 14 arranged one upon the other are arranged between the air element. In the second embodiment, in the stowed position V, the surface segments 12, 14, 44 folded onto one another are arranged between the air element 18, with the surface segment 12 being arranged between the surface segments 14 and 44, and with a part of the air element 18 being arranged between the surface segments 12, 44. The air element 18 is fastened, for example, to the first outer edge 26 of the first surface segment 12 and to a third outer edge 48 of the third surface segment 44, with the outer edges 26, 48 facing away from respective folding edges of the three surface segments 12, 14, 44. For example, the folding edges of the surface segments 12, 14 and the folding edges of the surface segments 14, 44 face each other or are adjacent to each other. In particular, it is conceivable that the surface segments 12, 14, 44 are formed separately from one another and are articulated to one another by means of the folding mechanism 16, or the surface segments 12, 14, 44 are formed integrally with one another, so that, for example, the folding mechanism 16 is formed by the surface segments 12, 14, 44 or is a component of the surface segments 12, 14, 44. In particular, the first end 32 of the air element 18 can be fixed to the first outer edge 26 and the second end 34 of the air element 18 can be fixed to the third outer edge 48.
