Abstract
Method for operating a drive unit for a motor vehicle, which has an internal combustion engine with a crankshaft and a vehicle transmission whose input shaft is connected to the crankshaft for drive purposes, wherein a fuel quantity adaptation is temporarily carried out to adjust a quantity of fuel supplied to a cylinder of the internal combustion engine, characterized in that the fuel quantity adaptation is carried out during a load change within the drive unit by controlling a fuel injector to introduce a target quantity of fuel into the cylinder, wherein a resulting acceleration of the crankshaft counteracting the load change is detected and used to calculate an actual quantity of fuel supplied to the cylinder.where a difference between the actual fuel quantity and the target fuel quantity is used to adjust the amount of fuel supplied to the cylinder of the internal combustion engine.
