Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a roof edge termination for flat roofs or gently sloping roofs.
[0002] Flat roofs or gently sloping roofs are often covered with bitumen sheets. The drainage system for flat roofs is frequently located in the center of the roof, so that the water is channeled through the house. This is where a so-called forced drainage point is provided.
[0003] In addition to these roof structures, roofs with parapets are also common in practice. The parapet, in its modern form, is in most cases a roof edge surrounding a flat roof. It is a roof structure with a height of, for example, 20 or 30 centimeters. Parapets have mandatory drainage points through which water is channeled away.
[0004] The sealing membranes must be attached to the edge of the roof. Roof edge trims are commonly used for this purpose; these not only serve to achieve an attractive appearance of the facade, but primarily prevent the penetration of moisture or dampness at the edge of the roof covering.
[0005] At the same time, other requirements for roof cladding must also be met, in particular easy assembly and disassembly, vibration-proof fastening to the masonry and no deformations due to thermally induced material movements.
[0006] From the prior art (DE 1 709 034 A) a roof termination cladding is known in which the roof termination sheet has an upwardly open, longitudinally extending gutter profile into which the roof covering is glued and to which vertical drop shafts with preferably rectangular cross-section are attached from below at longitudinal intervals and connected to the gutter via openings.
[0007] This state-of-the-art roof edge profile has the disadvantage that water drainage is only possible from the gutter formed by the profile. The additional installation of further devices, such as sunshades, is not provided for in this state-of-the-art roof edge cladding.
[0008] Furthermore, a roof edge termination for a low-pitched roof is part of the prior art (DE 199 15 347 C1). This roof edge termination, which is part of the prior art, consists of a profile, namely an angled roof edge retaining profile, which is connected to the roof all around by screws that engage through the roof support flange. The roof edge retaining profile has a downward-facing, offset web at the front, which at the transition to the roof flange has at least a nose-shaped projection for attaching a water deflector profile at the gable end.
[0009] This state-of-the-art roof edge profile has the disadvantage that the rain gutter is simply hooked in, meaning it can come loose in storms or similar conditions. Furthermore, this roof edge profile also offers no possibility of additionally mounting a sunshade if needed.
[0010] Furthermore, although the end plate is spring-loaded thanks to appropriate bends, it is relatively difficult to install.
[0011] Furthermore, the state of the art (DE 23 38 495 A1) includes a roof termination at the gable and at the roof base, especially in the case of a gable roof.
[0012] This roof termination profile provides a drainage option for water behind a gable cladding.
[0013] A device for sun protection cannot be attached to this roof edge profile either.
[0014] Furthermore, a prior art design (DE 10 2005 011 546 A1) includes an eaves with an external venetian blind. This prior art design features a fascia inserted into the device. The inserted fascia has the disadvantage that stresses occurring in the fascia due to differing thermal influences cannot be dissipated.
[0015] Furthermore, the prior art (JP H06-93 691 A) includes a roof edge termination that is attached to the roof edge by means of a screw. A cover plate is also attached to the roof edge termination by means of a screw. This roof edge termination also does not allow for the dissipation of stresses that occur in the cover plate due to varying temperature influences.
[0016] The state of the art (DE 198 21 785 A1) also includes a multi-part eaves edge termination of a gently sloping terrace roof.
[0017] According to this prior art, a cover plate is arranged on a mounting profile. The mounting profile is designed such that the cover plate can be hooked into it. The mounting profile does not conduct any stresses on the cover plate caused by heat or cold.
[0018] The technical problem underlying the invention is to provide a roof edge termination for flat roofs or gently sloping roofs which is versatile and with which a sun protection device can be arranged from the outset or subsequently.
[0019] This technical problem is solved by a roof edge termination with the features according to claim 1.
[0020] The roof edge termination according to the invention for flat roofs or gently sloping roofs, which is formed from at least one base body and a cover plate, wherein the at least one base body has a double U-profile shape in cross-section, wherein each U-profile of the base body has an opening arranged in a vertical direction, wherein the first U-profile has an upwardly open opening and the second U-profile has a downwardly open opening, wherein a spring clip for the detachable receiving of the cover plate is arranged on each base body, is characterized in that the spring clip is arranged on a web of the upwardly open U-profile and on the outside of the upwardly open profile of the base body.
[0021] The roof edge termination according to the invention has the advantage that a rain gutter, preferably height-adjustable, can be arranged in the first U-profile of the base body, which is open at the top. A device for sun protection, for example a blind, a roller blind or the like, can be arranged in the second U-profile, which is open at the bottom.
[0022] In addition, a spring clip is arranged on the base body for the detachable attachment of the cover plate.
[0023] The cover plate is advantageously positioned on the spring clip at one end. With the other end, it overlaps an edge of the base body.
[0024] The spring clip generates the necessary contact pressure on the cover plate. At the same time, it allows the cover plate to be attached to the base body relatively easily and with minimal effort.
[0025] This makes mounting the cover plate very easy.
[0026] The cover plate can also be easily removed if an inspection of the roof edge is necessary. For example, to clean the gutter, the cover plate can be removed to provide good access and cleaning.
[0027] The roof edge termination according to the invention also has the advantage that the water is drained away all around, and not, as is known from practice, at individual forced drainage points.
[0028] Furthermore, the roof edge termination according to the invention can be used with all types of roofing, e.g. glass, bitumen, plastic sealing membranes, metal roofing, roof tiles and the like.
[0029] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the base body is designed as a bracket. The base body can advantageously be designed as a stainless steel bracket. However, the base body can also be made of other materials.
[0030] The U-shaped design allows for easy manufacturing and installation of the base unit. Several U-shaped base units can be arranged at intervals along the house wall. After mounting the U-shaped base units, for example at intervals of half a meter or one meter, the rain gutter can be positioned in the upward-facing U-profile at the desired height.
[0031] Subsequently, a blind can be installed in the downward-facing U-profile, which is preferably located on the side facing the house wall.
[0032] The cover plate can then be detachably attached to the base bodies by hooking it into the spring clip and overlapping a preferably angled end of the upwardly open U-profile.
[0033] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the U-profile of the base body that is closer to the cover plate is open at the top.
[0034] This means that the rain gutter, which is arranged in the upward-opening U-profile, is positioned away from the house wall and thus reliably drains the water away.
[0035] According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the cover plate has an upper end which is bent and overlaps an upper end of the upwardly open U-profile of the base body.
[0036] This design ensures that the cover plate rests against the spring clip, which generates the necessary contact pressure. The bent upper end of the cover plate rests against the upper end of the upwardly open U-profile. The bend in the cover plate allows its end to spring back during installation.
[0037] Another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that an upper end of the upwardly open U-profile facing the cover plate is bent and serves as a bearing surface for the cover plate.
[0038] This design provides a bearing surface for the cover plate, so that the cover plate rests against the spring clip on one side and against the bearing surface formed by the bent end on the other. This ensures secure attachment of the cover plate to the base body.
[0039] According to the invention, the spring clip is arranged on a web of the upwardly open U-profile and on the outside of the upwardly open U-profile of the base body.
[0040] This design ensures that the spring clip is positioned on the part of the base body furthest from the house wall, specifically where the cover plate surrounds the base body. This guarantees easy installation of the cover plate.
[0041] According to a further advantageous embodiment, a rain gutter can be arranged in the upwardly open U-profile of the base body. This embodiment has the advantage that the rain gutter can be mounted in the base body at an equidistant distance from the house wall. Furthermore, the rain gutter is shielded from the visible side by the cover profile, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
[0042] According to a further advantageous embodiment, the rain gutter can be arranged in the upwardly open U-profile of the base body in a height-adjustable manner. This has the advantage that the rain gutter can be arranged in the base body in such a way that the water running off the roof is optimally directed into the rain gutter.
[0043] Another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that a sun protection device can be arranged in the downwardly open U-profile of the base body.
[0044] This sun protection device can be installed directly during the assembly of the roof edge termination according to the invention. However, the sun protection device can also be retrofitted.
[0045] The roof edge termination according to the invention thus has the advantage that both the rain gutter and a sun protection device can be mounted on the base body, and that the end plate is simply spring-loaded, firstly into the spring clip and secondly into the base body. Thanks to the roof edge termination according to the invention, it is possible to drain the roof completely to the outside, since a flat roof edge is present and a rain gutter is still provided.
[0046] Drainage to the outside increases the tightness and thus the safety that no water penetrates anywhere unintentionally.
[0047] The basic bodies according to the invention are attached to a house wall.
[0048] The rain gutter can be mounted on the base body in a height-adjustable manner by attaching an additional bracket to the base body. Advantageously, the bracket has a slotted hole in each leg, allowing the height of the bracket, and thus the height of the rain gutter, to be adjusted.
[0049] The spring clip is advantageously positioned below the gutter mounting point. A bent section of the cover plate can be hooked into the spring clip. One end of the cover plate wraps around the spring clip and has a front, furthest-from-the-house-wall covering area. The other end of the cover plate is bent so that it can be flexibly guided over a bearing surface of the base body and held in place.
[0050] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the spring clip has two arms.
[0051] These two arms rest against an inner surface of the cover plate. The arm facing the house has a beveled edge on the cover plate. The second arm faces away from the house and ensures that the cover plate is securely attached to the base when it is locked into place.
[0052] As already mentioned, a sun protection device can be advantageously arranged in the downward-facing U-profile. The sun protection device could, for example, be a blind.
[0053] If no blind is installed, the cover plate can be designed to also cover the area where the blind will be installed.
[0054] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, an arm of the spring clip arranged in the direction of the downwardly open U-profile is designed as an arm that leaves the opening of the downwardly open U-profile unobstructed. In this case, the cover plate also leaves the opening of the downwardly open U-profile unobstructed, so that the blind can be mounted on the base body.
[0055] According to a further advantageous embodiment, it is provided that an arm of the spring clip arranged in the direction of the downwardly open U-profile is designed as an arm that at least partially covers the opening of the downwardly open U-profile.
[0056] If no blind is installed, spring clips are provided, which have a longer arm extending towards the house wall. This arm at least partially covers the opening of the downward-facing U-profile. Since the cover plate, with its bent end, engages the arm of the spring clip, the cover plate also at least partially, and preferably almost completely, covers the downward-facing opening of the U-profile located on the house wall side.
[0057] According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the cover plate has a lower bent end for gripping an arm of the spring clip. This embodiment, as already described, makes it very easy to hook the cover plate into the arm of the spring clip facing the house wall and to snap it into place at the other end of the upwardly open U-profile of the base body.
[0058] Another advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the base body has at least one elongated hole for the passage of fastening means for attaching the base body to a house wall.
[0059] The base unit is advantageously attached to a house wall using fasteners, such as screws. Slotted holes are provided to align all base units at the same height. Specifically, slotted holes are provided in one leg of the base unit to allow for vertical alignment of the base unit with the double U-profile.
[0060] The roof edge termination according to the invention has the advantage that the roof edge termination can be completely assembled on site.
[0061] No prefabrication in a workshop is required. Complete on-site assembly allows for structural adjustments to be made on-site, making the system very flexible and easy to install.
[0062] Since only the surface of the cover plate is visible from the outside in the roof edge termination according to the invention, the cover plate according to the invention creates an aesthetically advantageous overall impression in addition to the technical features of good installability.
[0063] The spring clip serves to create a contact pressure of the cover plate against a web of the upwardly open U-profile.
[0064] The downward-facing U-profile can be closed with the cover plate if no sun protection device is provided.
[0065] The roof edge termination according to the invention also has the advantage that the fascia height can be designed variably.
[0066] Advantageously, the base body has fastening means for the sun protection device in the downwardly open U-profile, for example screws or holes for screws. Commercially available sun protection devices can be arranged in the roof edge termination according to the invention.
[0067] Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the accompanying drawings, which illustrate various embodiments of the roof edge termination according to the invention, without limiting the invention to these embodiments. The drawing shows: Fig. 1 a roof edge termination in cross-section with a covered opening for the blind; Fig. 2 a roof edge termination in cross-section with a sun protection device; Fig. 3 a roof edge termination according to the invention in perspective view.
[0068] Fig. Figure 1 shows a roof edge termination 1 with a base body 2, which has a double U-profile, namely a first U-profile 3 and a second U-profile 4. The U-profile 3 has an opening open at the top. The U-profile 4 has an opening open at the bottom.
[0069] The base body 2 is attached to a house wall 5. The base body 2 is designed as a bracket. The roof edge termination 1 has a cover plate 6, which is detachably arranged on the base body 2.
[0070] A rain gutter 7, shown only schematically, is arranged in the U-profile 3 of the roof edge termination 1. The rain gutter 7 is attached to the U-profile 3 of the base body 2.
[0071] In order to arrange the rain gutter in the base body 2 in a height-adjustable manner, a bracket 8 is provided which has elongated holes 9 so that the bracket 8 can be adjusted in height in the U-profile 3.
[0072] Fastening means 10 are provided in the U-profile 4 of the base body 2 in order to be able to mount a sun protection device, for example a blind.
[0073] The base body 2 has elongated holes 11. Screws 12 engage through the elongated holes 11, with which the base body 2 can be arranged height-adjustably on the house wall 5 or on an intermediate piece 13.
[0074] The cover plate 6 is detachably arranged on the base body 2. The base body 2 has a spring clip 14 for this purpose, which has two arms 15, 16. The arm 16 partially covers an opening 17 of the U-profile 4 of the base body 2, as per [reference to relevant section]. Fig. 1. No blind or other sun protection device is arranged in the U-profile 4.
[0075] An upper end 18 of the U-profile 3 of the base body 2 is angled and forms a bearing surface 19 for the cover plate 6. The cover plate 6 has a bend 21 on its lower leg 20. The bend 21 engages the arm 16 of the spring clip 14. An upper leg 22 of the cover plate 6 is also angled and rests against the bearing surface 19 of the end 18 of the U-profile 3 of the base body 2.
[0076] The cover plate 6 also has two bends 23 which allow the legs 20, 22 of the cover plate 6 to spring.
[0077] The spring clip 14 ensures the required contact pressure of the cover plate 6, so that it can be detachably arranged on the base body 2.
[0078] The connection provides the necessary security against unintentional loosening due to the contact pressure generated by the spring clip 4.
[0079] According to Fig. Figure 2 shows a roof edge termination 1. Identical parts are designated with the same reference numerals in all figures. The basic function and basic structure of the roof edge termination according to the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 are identical. The difference between these two embodiments is that a sun protection device 24 in the form of a blind, which is operated by a motor 25, is arranged in the U-profile 4.
[0080] According to Fig. The opening 17 of the downwardly open U-profile 4 of the base body 2 is not covered by either the arm 16 of the spring clip 14 or the cover plate 6. The arm 16, which is arranged towards the house wall 5, is designed so that it does not close the opening 17, either partially or completely. The lower leg 20 of the cover plate 6 is also designed in such a way that the opening 17 remains unobstructed.
[0081] According to Fig. Figure 3 shows the roof edge termination 1 with the base body 2 and the U-profile 4 as well as the U-profile 3. The rain gutter 7 is arranged in the U-profile 3.
