System (100, 500) for controlling a vehicle (506), comprising a vehicle control system (140) configured to control the vehicle's (506) operation; and an obstacle detection system (120) configured to detect obstacles in the vicinity of the vehicle (506) that may impede a user's entry or exit; an image acquisition system (110) configured to capture images of the vehicle's (506) surroundings, wherein the obstacle detection system (120) is configured to detect in the images captured by the image acquisition system (110) the obstacles in the vehicle's (506) surroundings that impede a user's entry or exit; a position selection system (130) configured to display the captured images of the environment, the detected obstacles and an indicator for selecting a position, and to receive a parking position instruction from the user, wherein the parking position instruction is generated by the user in response to an interaction by the user with respect to position selection using the indicator; wherein the vehicle control system (140) is further configured such that the vehicle (506) is parked under its control at the position indicated by the user’s instruction on the parking position; wherein the position selection system (130) comprises a display screen (330) configured to show images of the surroundings, detected obstacles and the indicator for selecting a position, wherein the display screen (330) is located in front of the user seat of the vehicle (506) and the display screen (330) comprises at least one screen located in the rear row of the vehicle seat and a central control screen (507). wherein the vehicle control system is further configured such that the vehicle (506) is parked under its control at the location outside the detected obstacles.
