Abstract

Technical problem: Washing the hair of bedridden people has so far been painful for them due to the hard material of the basins or, when using inflatable basins, unsatisfactory for the caregiver, as wet bed mattresses are often the result. Solution to the problem: This new basin provides a soft and pain-free support for bedridden persons while at the same time providing a solid and secure tub with an external channel that offers additional protection in case of any water leakage. Area of application: Hair washing for people in need of care in a lying position. This is particularly helpful in hospitals, as well as in inpatient and home care settings, as it not only allows the patient to be cared for painlessly, but also keeps the mattress dry.

Description

[0001] Washing the hair of people in need of care who cannot leave their beds independently is a well-known problem in nursing care. Two different devices are currently available on the market as a solution: - Inflatable structures (filled with air), while soft for the person in need of care, often leave wet mattresses after use due to their unstable air construction. Users also complain of high wear and tear, as a defect often renders the inflatable pools unusable after just a few uses or due to careless storage. - Plastic wash basins that are offered on the market for washing bed hair are solid and durable, but due to the solid (hard) material in the neck area they are very uncomfortable and usually painful for the person in need of care when using them.
