Abstract
The invention relates to a method for operating a drive unit (1) for a motor vehicle, wherein the drive unit (1) has a fuel tank (2) for storing fuel, a drive unit (3) to which fuel is supplied at least temporarily from the fuel tank (2) via a fuel line, and a fuel sensor (7) for determining the composition of the fuel. It is provided that the fuel tank (2) is fluidically connected to the drive unit via a tank vent line (4), through which the fuel in gaseous state is discharged at least temporarily from the fuel tank (2) towards the drive unit (3), wherein the fuel sensor (7) is arranged in the tank vent line (4) and is used to measure the proportion of at least one volatile organic compound in the gaseous fuel. The invention further relates to a drive device (1) for a motor vehicle and a computer program product.
