AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing freewheels suffer from undesired slipping due to inadequate pretensioning force in pawl engagement, leading to reduced slip resistance and torque transmission efficiency.

Method used

A freewheel design with a first and second torque transmission section, multiple blocking bodies, and a prestressing device that applies a prestress to urge blocking bodies into engagement or release states based on rotational direction, enhancing slip resistance by promoting consistent torque transmission.

Benefits of technology

The design ensures high slip resistance and efficient torque transmission by maintaining consistent engagement of blocking bodies, allowing for increased torque capacity and reduced clearance angle.

Abstract

The invention relates to a freewheel (100). The freewheel (100) has a first torque transmission section (1), a second torque transmission section (2), a plurality of locking bodies with a first locking body (3A; 3C) and a second locking body (3B; 3D), and a pretensioning device (4A, 4B). Rotation of the first torque transmission section (1) relative to the second torque transmission section (2) results in the freewheel (100) being transferred into a locked state. The first locking body (3A; 3C) is in an engaged state and the second locking body (3B; 3D) is in a released state. A torque can be transmitted between the torque transmission sections (1, 2) via the first locking body (3A; 3C) in the engaged state. No torque can be transmitted between the torque transmission sections (1, 2) via the second locking body (3B; 3D) which is in the loose state. The freewheel (100) is designed such that the first locking body (3A; 3C) and the second locking body (3B; 3D) in the locking state each interact with the pretensioning device (4A, 4B) in such a way that they promote a pretension of the first locking body (3A; 3C) into the engaged state.
