AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional methods for calibrating vacuum switching tubes are complex, time-consuming, and require manufacturing and piercing a diaphragm under vacuum, making it difficult to adjust and measure vacuum pressure efficiently.

Method used

A calibration device with a vacuum switching tube, flange gasket, and vacuum system that allows for quick pressure adjustment and measurement by creating a vacuum-tight seal externally, enabling faster generation of gas discharges for calibration curve recording.

Benefits of technology

Facilitates easy and rapid calibration of vacuum pressure measurement, allowing for quicker determination of calibration curves without the need for vacuum operation, and maintaining consistent pressure during measurement.

Abstract

The invention relates to a calibration device (51) with a vacuum switching tube (1) comprising a first electrode (3) and a second electrode (4), which have a contact state in which the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) are in contact with each other, and a separation state in which the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) are separated from each other, as well as a housing (2) which defines an interior space (26) in which the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) are arranged and is configured to maintain a vacuum in the interior space (26) so that in the separation state the first electrode (3) and the second electrode (4) can be electrically isolated from each other by the vacuum, and a vacuum system (40) comprising a tube (41) with a flange (49), wherein the vacuum switching tube (1) has a through-hole (27) which fluidly connects the interior space (26) to the tube (41).and a sealing surface (28) that fully encloses the through-hole (27), and a flange gasket (50) that fully contacts the sealing surface (28) and the flange (49) to provide a vacuum-tight seal between the through-hole (27) and the pipe (41). The invention also relates to a method for calibrating a pressure measurement.
