The workpiece rotated by the rotary device is machined by the cutting tool in the machining device. Then, the machined workpiece is held in the rotary device by the gripper, and the rotary loader is rotated to feed out the machined workpiece. The process of feeding the workpiece in, machining the workpiece and removing the workpiece is then repeated according to the number of workpieces to be machined.

[0016] Thereafter, when replacement of the cutting tool is required according to the type of workpiece to be machined, the cutting tool is held at the cutting tool mounting portion of the machining device by the gripper, and the rotary loader is rotated to carry out this cutting tool. Then, another cutting tool is held by the gripper, and the rotary loader is rotated so that this cutting tool faces the machining device. This cutting tool is mounted on the cutting tool mounting portion of the machining device. Subsequently, the process of carrying in the workpiece, machining the workpiece, and carrying out the workpiece by each gripper is repeated according to the number of workpieces to be machined in a similar manner as described above.

[0017] The gripper can hold the workpiece and the cutting tool directly or it can at least hold either the workpiece and / or the cutting tool indirectly via a pallet etc.

[0020] Preferred embodiments of the turning machine and the turning method of the present invention set forth above are described below.

[0021] In the above-mentioned turning machine, the workpiece may have a cylindrical shape, and the machining device may be configured such that both ends of the cutting tool are mounted on a cutting tool mounting portion of the machining device, and the cutting tool may be configured such that the cutting tool is rotated on the cutting tool mounting portion to form a tooth surface on the outer periphery of the workpiece rotated by the rotating device.

[0022] In this case, the turning device and the machining device constitute a milling machine, and replacement of a milling cutter (milling tool) serving as the cutting tool in the milling machine can be carried out in a short period of time.

[0023] The machining device can rotate the cutting tool on the cutting tool mounting portion, with a rotational center axis of the cutting tool mounting portion extending in a horizontal direction or being inclined with respect to the horizontal direction. The products manufactured by machining in the milling machine configured by the rotating device and the machining device can be applied as gears such as a spur gear, a helical gear, and a worm gear. The workpiece held by the rotating device can be a part with a circular cross-section and have an outer peripheral surface on which a tooth surface is formed.

[0024] Each of the plurality of grippers may be arranged at the same radial distance from the rotational centerline and may be capable of directly or indirectly holding the workpiece and / or the cutting tool.

[0025] In this case, the plurality of grippers can have the same structure, and the workpiece and the cutting tool can be held by any of the grippers. This allows the delivery and reception of the workpiece and the delivery and reception of the cutting tool to be carried out efficiently.

[0026] The rotary device may be configured to rotate about a rotational center axis extending in a vertical direction, the rotary loader may be configured such that each of the plurality of grippers is rotated in a horizontal direction with the rotational center axis extending in the vertical direction, and each of the plurality of grippers of the rotary loader, the rotary device and the machining device may be capable of relatively moving in the vertical direction, and may be configured such that the relative movement is performed to deliver and receive the workpiece between the rotary loader and the rotary device and to deliver and receive the cutting tool between the rotary loader and the machining device.

[0027] In this case, delivery and reception of the workpiece and delivery and reception of the cutting tool can be carried out stably.

[0028] The cutting tool may be configured to be held by a pallet, and the pallet may have a base portion held by the gripper and a cutting tool holding portion formed at a position offset from a center of the base portion and holding the cutting tool, and the machining device may be configured to move the cutting tool mounting portion forward, and to mount the cutting tool on the cutting tool holding portion of the pallet held by the gripper to the cutting tool mounting portion that has been moved forward.

[0029] In this case, the use of the pallet allows the delivery and reception of the cutting tool between each gripper and the machining device to be carried out with ease in a short period of time.

[0030] The rotary device may be constructed such that the workpiece is supported via a rotary support chuck mounted on a workpiece support portion (see reference numeral 21) of the rotary device, and the rotary loading device may be constructed such that the rotary support chuck is delivered to and received from the rotary device by rotating, the rotary support chuck being held by the gripper directly or indirectly.

[0031] In this case, replacement of the rotary support fixture is required according to the type of workpiece, and replacement of the cutting tool and the rotary support fixture can be carried out in a short period of time.

[0032] The rotary support chuck may be configured by a chuck portion mounted on one rotary spindle of the rotary device and another chuck portion mounted on another rotary spindle arranged coaxially with the one rotary spindle in the rotary device, and the rotary loading device may be configured to allow the gripper to hold the rotary support chuck having the one chuck portion combined with the other chuck portion.

[0033] In this case, the rotating device rotates the workpiece held between one clamping device section on one rotating spindle and the other clamping device section on the other rotating spindle, and the machining device can stably machine the workpiece.

[0034] The rotary loading device enables the gripper to hold the rotary support chuck formed by the one chuck section and the other chuck section and to move this rotary support chuck between an external delivery / receiving position and an internal delivery / receiving position.

[0035] A deburring tool may be rotatably mounted on the rotary support fixture, and the deburring tool may be configured to remove burrs generated in the workpiece when the workpiece has been machined by the machining device.

[0036] In this case, replacement of the rotary support jig and the deburring tool is required according to the type of workpiece, and replacement of the deburring tool can be performed when replacement of the rotary support jig is performed.

[0037] In the above-described turning machining method, the turning device may be configured such that the workpiece is supported via a turning support jig mounted on a workpiece support portion of the turning device, and the turning support jig may be delivered to and received from the turning device by rotating the turning loading device, wherein the turning support jig is held by the gripper directly or indirectly.

[0038] In this case, replacement of the rotary support fixture is required according to the type of workpiece, and replacement of the cutting tool and the rotary support fixture can be carried out in a short period of time. Examples of implementation

[0039] Embodiments of the turning machine and the turning method are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. First embodiment

[0040] As this is Fig. 1, a turning machine 1 of the present embodiment includes a turning device 2 that holds and rotates a workpiece 8, a machining device 3 on which a cutting tool 7 is mounted for machining the workpiece 8, and a rotary loading device 4 around which a plurality of grippers 5 are arranged at the same radial distance from a rotation center axis 401, and which rotates so that each gripper 5 sequentially faces the turning device 2.

[0041] Each gripper 5 is capable of holding both the workpiece 8 and the cutting tool 7 directly or indirectly, and is constructed such that the workpiece 8 is delivered to and received by the rotating device 2 and the cutting tool 7 is delivered to and received by the machining device 3.

[0042] The turning machine 1 and the turning method of the present embodiment are described below with reference to Fig. 1 to 4 are described in detail.

[0043] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 1, the machining device 3 and the turning device 2 of the present embodiment constitute a milling machine that forms gear surfaces 81 on the outer periphery of the workpiece 8 using a milling cutter as the cutting tool 7. The turning machine 1 of the present embodiment is capable of transferring the workpiece 8 to the milling machine and performing replacement of the cutting tool 7 on the milling machine. The machining device 3 and the turning device 2 of the present embodiment cut teeth into the workpiece 8 with a circular cross section to manufacture a helical gear as a product.

[0044] As this is the case in the Fig. 2 and Fig. As shown in Fig. 3, the workpiece 8 of the present embodiment has a disc shape for gears, and the gripper 5 is configured to grip the outer periphery of the workpiece 8, which has a disc shape. The gripper 5 is capable of gripping a variety of workpieces 8 with different outer diameters by varying the distance between a pair of gripping portions 51. Fig. Fig. 2 shows a workpiece 8A used to form a gear with a large outer diameter, and Fig. 3 shows a workpiece 8B used to form a gear with a small outer diameter.

[0045] Engagement portions 511, which overlap each other in the vertical direction to engage with each other when holding the workpiece 8B with the small outer diameter, are formed in the pair of gripping portions 51 of the gripper 5. The gripper 5 of the present embodiment is configured to hold the paired gripping portions 51, which move the workpiece 8, a rotary support chuck 6, or a pallet 70 between them toward and away from each other in the horizontal direction from both sides.

[0046] As this is Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the machining device 3 is configured such that a rotational center axis 301 of a cutting tool mounting portion 31 (milling spindle) on which the cutting tool 7 is mounted is inclined with respect to the horizontal direction. The rotating device 2 is configured to rotate about a rotational center axis 201 extending in the vertical direction. The machining device 3 rotates the cutting tool 7 to form the serration surfaces 81 in a helical pattern on the outer periphery of the workpiece 8 rotated by the rotating device 2.

[0047] The machining device 3 is capable of rotating the cutting tool mounting portion 31, and is configured to move the cutting tool mounting portion 31 forward and backward and up and down. The cutting tool mounting portion 31 is configured to support shaft portions at both ends of the cutting tool 7. The machining device 3 is arranged in the extension (extension) of the direction in which the rotating device 2 is arranged with respect to the rotary loading device 4.

[0048] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 1, a workpiece support portion of the rotary device 2 is formed by a lower support portion 211 that supports the workpiece 8 from below and an upper support portion 212 that supports the workpiece 8 from above. The lower support portion 211 is attached to the upper end of a rotary table 20, and the upper support portion 212 is attached to a rotary center support column 41 of the rotary loading device 4.

[0049] The rotating device 2 is configured to support the workpiece 8 via the rotating support chuck 6 mounted on the workpiece support section. The rotating device 2 is arranged at a position located between the machining device 3 and the rotating loading device 4, and is configured to support the workpiece 8 from both sides and rotate it about the rotating center axis 201 parallel to the rotating center axis 401 of the rotating loading device 4.

[0050] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 4, the rotary support chuck 6 is divided into a lower chuck section 61 mounted on the lower support section 211 and an upper chuck section 62 mounted on the upper support section 212, so that the workpiece 8 is held between them from above and below. The workpiece 8 is supported by the rotary device 2 such that the axial direction of the workpiece 8 extends in the vertical direction.

[0051] Fig. 4 shows the state in which the rotary support chuck 6 is held by the gripper 5 with the lower chuck portion 61 directly overlapping with the upper chuck portion 62.

[0052] As this is Fig. 5, a deburring tool 63 can be attached to the lower chuck portion 61. The deburring tool 63 is supported by the lower chuck portion 61 so that the deburring tool 63 can rotate around a rotational center axis of the lower chuck portion 61. The deburring tool 63 is supported by the lower chuck portion 61 so that the deburring tool 63 can rotate around a rotational center axis parallel to the rotational center axis 201 of the rotary device 2. Furthermore, the deburring tool 63 is provided with a stopper groove 64 that engages with a rod (bar) 65 disposed on (standing against) a bracket of the turning machine 1.When the lower chuck portion 61 is mounted on the lower support portion 211, the stop groove 64 engages with the rod 65 so that the deburring tool 63 does not rotate around the rotational center axis of the lower chuck portion 61.

[0053] In this case, as described in Fig. As shown in Fig. 6, the deburring tool 63 removes burrs 82 formed in the lower part of the workpiece 8 in the axial direction (a plurality of protrusions formed at the end that has been cut) when teeth cut into the outer circumference of the workpiece 8 with the cutting tool 7 from above. The deburring tool 63 removes the burrs 82 while rotating in response to the rotation of the workpiece 8. The deburring tool 63 may be attached to the upper chuck portion 62.

[0054] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 7, the cutting tool 7 of the present embodiment is held on the pallet 70 held by each gripper 5 of the rotary loader 4. The pallet 70 has a base portion 71 held by the gripper 5, and a cutting tool holding portion 72 formed at a position offset from the center of the base portion 71 and holding the cutting tool 7. The base portion 71 is formed in a disk shape so that each gripper 5 can easily hold the base portion 71. The cutting tool holding portion 72 is configured so that a pair of receiving portions 721 can receive the shaft portions at both ends of the cutting tool 7, which is arranged with its axis extending in the horizontal direction. By holding the pallet 70 by the gripper 5, the cutting tool holding portion 72 of the pallet 70 is located outside the rotation radius of the gripper 5.

[0055] The machining device 3 is constructed such that the cutting tool mounting portion 31 is moved forward and the cutting tool mounting portion 31 is moved up and down so that the cutting tool 7 in the cutting tool holding portion 72 of the pallet 70 held by the gripper 5 is mounted on the cutting tool mounting portion 31.

[0056] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 1, the rotary loading device 4 of the present embodiment is configured such that the plurality of grippers 5 are rotatably arranged around the rotary center support column 41. The rotation center axis 401 of the rotary center support column 41 extends in the vertical direction, and each gripper 5 is configured to rotate around the rotary center support column 41 in the horizontal direction.

[0057] The grippers 5 provided in plurality are configured to hold the workpiece 8, the cutting tool 7, and the rotary support jig 6 from a direction perpendicular to the rotation center axis 401 of the rotary loading device 4 and the rotation center axis 201 of the rotary device 2, and pass between the lower support portion 211 (one rotary spindle 21 described below) and the upper support portion 212 (the other rotary spindle 22) of the rotary device 2.

[0058] The gripper 5 of the present embodiment is provided at four positions offset by 90° from each other on the outer periphery of the rotary center support column 41. Each gripper 5 can move individually up and down with respect to the rotary center support column 41. The gripper 5 can be provided at regular intervals at two or three positions or five or more positions around the rotary center support column 41.

[0059] The rotary loading device 4 of the present embodiment is configured to load and unload at least one of the workpiece 8, the rotary support chuck 6, and the pallet 70 holding the cutting tool 7. Each gripper 5 is configured to sequentially move to the delivery / receipt position 501 facing the rotary device 2 and to a loading / unloading position 502 located on the side of the rotary center support column 41 opposite the rotary device 2.

[0060] Each gripper 5 of the present embodiment is configured to supply a workpiece 8 before machining to the rotary device 2 and take out a machined workpiece 8 from the rotary device 2, supply the rotary support chuck 6 to and take out from the rotary device 2, and supply the cutting tool 7 to and take out from the machining device 3.

[0061] Although not shown in the drawings, a transfer device capable of conveying (transferring) either the workpiece 8, the rotary support chuck 6, and / or the pallet 70 is arranged on the side of the rotary loader 4 opposite from the rotary device 2.

[0062] The transfer device can be arranged in various ways with respect to the rotary loading device 4. For example, the workpiece 8, the rotary support clamp 6, and the pallet 70 can be fed in and out by the same transfer device, or can be fed in and out by different transfer devices. The transfer device can be arranged at a variety of positions around the rotary center support column 41 around which the grippers 5 rotate.

[0063] The operation of the turning machine 1 and the turning method of the present embodiment will be described below.

[0064] As this is Fig. 8, when handling the workpiece 8, the gripper 5 located at the carry-in / carry-out position 502 holds the pallet 70 holding the cutting tool 7 according to the type of workpiece 8. At this time, the gripper 5 holds the base portion 71 of the pallet 70, with the side where the cutting tool holding portion 72 and the cutting tool 7 are arranged being located at the front side (the side farther away from the rotary center support column 41).

[0065] The rotary loading device 4 is rotated to move the gripper 5, which holds the pallet 70 with the cutting tool 7 held thereon, to the delivery / receiving position 501. Then, as shown in Fig. 9, the rotational center axis 301 of the cutting tool mounting portion 31 of the machining device 3 extends in the horizontal direction, the cutting tool mounting portion 31 moves forward and moves up, down, right, or left, and the cutting tool 7 held by the pallet 70 is mounted on the cutting tool mounting portion 31.

[0066] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 10, the gripper 5 located at the feed-in / feed-out position 502 holds the rotary support chuck 6 corresponding to the type of workpiece 8 and having the upper chuck portion 62 positioned at the lower chuck portion 61. At this time, the gripper 5 holds the lower chuck portion 61.

[0067] The rotary loader 4 is rotated so that the gripper 5 holding the rotary support chuck 6 is moved to the delivery / receiving position 501. Then, this gripper 5 is moved downward to mount the lower chuck portion 61 of the rotary support chuck 6 onto the lower support portion 211 on the turntable 20 of the rotary device 2. Thereafter, the upper support portion 212 on the rotary center support column 41 of the rotary loader 4 is moved downward to mount the upper chuck portion 62 of the rotary support chuck 6 onto the upper support portion 212.

[0068] Subsequently, the gripper 5 located at the feed-in / feed-out position 502 holds the workpiece 8 corresponding to the rotary support chuck 6. Then, the upper support portion 212 on the rotary center support column 41 of the rotary loader 4 is returned upward. The rotary loader 4 is rotated so that the gripper 5 holding the workpiece 8 is moved to the delivery / receive position 501.

[0069] Next, the gripper 5 holding the workpiece 8 is moved downward to mount the workpiece 8 on the lower chuck portion 61 to the lower support portion 211 on the rotary table 20. Then, the upper support portion 212 and the upper chuck portion 62 are moved downward to mount the upper chuck portion 62 onto the upper part of the workpiece 8 mounted on the lower chuck portion 61. Subsequently, with the workpiece 8 supported by the lower chuck portion 61 and the upper chuck portion 62, the rotary table 20 is rotated around the rotation center axis 201.

[0070] The cutting tool 7 on the cutting tool mounting portion 31, whose rotational center axis 301 is inclined with respect to the horizontal direction, is moved closer to the workpiece 8, and the cutting tool mounting portion 31 is rotated about the rotational center axis 301. The rotating cutting tool 7 cuts teeth into the rotating workpiece 8 to form the tooth surfaces 81 in a helical (spiral) pattern on the outer periphery of the workpiece 8.

[0071] After the serration surfaces 81 are formed in a helical pattern on the outer periphery of the workpiece 8, the cutting tool mounting portion 31 and the cutting tool 7 are retracted, and the upper support portion 212 and the upper chuck portion 62 are retracted upward. Thereafter, the machined workpiece 8 is held by the gripper 5 located at the delivery / receive position 501, and the rotary loader 4 is rotated so that this workpiece 8 is moved to the feed-in / feed-out position 502. Simultaneously with this movement, a workpiece 8 that has not yet been machined is held by the gripper 5 and moved to the delivery / receive position 501. Serration surfaces 81 are formed on this workpiece 8 that has not yet been machined in a manner similar to that described above.Subsequently, the process of feeding in the workpiece 8, machining the workpiece 8 and removing the workpiece 8 is repeated according to the number of workpieces 8 to be machined.

[0072] Then, when performing the setting operation for changing the type of workpiece 8 to be machined, the cutting tool 7 and the rotary support fixture 6 are exchanged before the workpiece 8 is conveyed to the rotary device 2. As shown in the Fig. 8 and Fig. 9, when exchanging the cutting tool 7, the cutting tool mounting portion 31 is moved so that the used cutting tool 7 is placed on the cutting tool holding portion 72 of the pallet 70 held by the gripper 5 disposed at the delivery / receipt position 501, and this gripper 5 is moved to the carry-in / carry-out position 502 by rotating the rotary loader 4. Moreover, a pallet 70 holding a cutting tool 7 to be used next is held by another gripper 5, and this another gripper 5 is moved to the delivery / receipt position 501 by rotating the rotary loader 4. The cutting tool 7 to be used next is mounted on the cutting tool mounting portion 31 in a similar manner as described above.

[0073] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 10, when replacing the rotary support chuck 6, the upper support portion 212 is moved downward to separate the upper chuck portion 62 from the upper support portion 212, and to place the upper chuck portion 62 on the lower chuck portion 61. Then, the gripper 5 located at the delivery / receipt position 501 holds the rotary support chuck 6 having the upper chuck portion 62 located at the lower chuck portion 61, and the rotary support chuck 6 is moved to the carry-in / carry-out position 502 by rotating the rotary loader 4. Moreover, a rotary support chuck 6 to be used next is held by another gripper 5, and this other gripper 5 is moved to the delivery / receipt position 501 by rotating the rotary loader 4.The rotary support jig 6 to be used next is mounted on the workpiece support section in a manner similar to that described above. Subsequently, the process of feeding in the workpiece 8, machining the workpiece 8, and discharging the workpiece 8 is repeated according to the number of workpieces 8 to be machined.

[0074] Thus, according to the turning machine 1 and the turning method described above, the workpiece 8, the rotary support jig 6, and the cutting tool 7 can be delivered and received using the same rotary loading device 4. Accordingly, when changing the type of workpiece 8 to be machined, the replacement of the rotary support jig 6 and the cutting tool 7 can be performed in a short period of time using the rotary loading device 4.

[0075] The plurality of grippers 5 may be configured to hold any workpiece 8, any cutting tool 7, and / or any rotary support fixture 6. Alternatively, each of the plurality of grippers 5 may be configured as a dedicated gripper that holds either the workpiece 8, the cutting tool 7, or the rotary support fixture 6.

[0076] The rotary loading device 4 can be configured to deliver and receive the workpiece 8 and the cutting tool 7, but not the rotary support clamping device 6. This can reduce the time required for replacing the cutting tool 7. In an unclaimed alternative, the rotary loading device 4 can be configured to deliver and receive the workpiece 8 and the rotary support clamping device 6, but not the cutting tool 7. This can reduce the time required for replacing the rotary support clamping device 6. Second embodiment

[0077] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 11, a turning machine 1 of the present embodiment includes a turning device 2 that supports and rotates a cylindrical workpiece 8 via a turning support jig 6, a machining device 3 on which a cutting tool 7 is mounted for machining the cylindrical workpiece 8, and a turning loading device 4 that has a plurality of grippers 5 arranged around a rotation center axis 401 and rotates so that the plurality of grippers 5 face the turning device 2 in a sequential manner. The plurality of grippers 5 are configured to move up and down independently, and a height position of each of the plurality of grippers 5 can be set to: a first height position 50A at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8 to and from the turning device 2, as shown in Fig. 12; a second height position 50B at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support clamping device 6 to the rotary device 2, as shown in Fig. 13; and a third height position 50C at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cutting tool 7 to the processing device 3, as shown in Fig. 14 is shown.

[0078] The rotary loading device 4 is configured such that each gripper 5 is rotated between an external delivery / receiving position 502, where the gripper 5 faces an external transfer base (rack) (not shown), and an internal delivery / receiving position 501, where the gripper 5 faces the rotating device 2. The rotary loading device 4 is configured such that the height position of the gripper 5 is set (adjusted) to one of the first to third height positions 50A, 50B, 50C at either the external delivery / receiving position 502 or the internal delivery / receiving position 501, and the gripper 5 returns to the other delivery / receiving position 501, 502 while the gripper 5 is held at the set height position 50A, 50B, 50C.

[0079] The turning machine 1 of the present embodiment is described below with reference to Fig. 11 to 14 are described in detail.

[0080] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 12, the rotating device 2 is configured such that one rotating spindle 21 provided on the turntable is rotated using a rotation drive source, and the other rotating spindle 22 rotates in response to the rotation of one rotating spindle 21. The rotating device 2 of the present embodiment is arranged such that its rotation center axis 201 extends in the vertical direction, with one rotating spindle 21 being on the lower side in the vertical direction and the other rotating spindle 22 being on the upper side in the vertical direction. The other rotating spindle 22 is mounted on a rotation center support column 41 of the rotary loading device 4.

[0081] The rotary support chuck 6 is formed by a chuck section (lower chuck section) 61 mounted on one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2, and another chuck section (upper chuck section) 62 mounted on the other rotary spindle 22 arranged coaxially with the one rotary spindle 21 in the rotary device 2. The other chuck section 62 can be conveyed in combination with the one chuck section 61.

[0082] A cylindrical workpiece 8 that has not yet been machined is fed in by the rotary loading device 4 to a position between one chuck section 61 mounted on one rotary spindle 21 and the other chuck section 62 mounted on the other rotary spindle 22. A machined cylindrical workpiece 8 is fed out by the rotary loading device 4 from the position between one chuck section 61 mounted on one rotary spindle 21 and the other chuck section 62 mounted on the other rotary spindle 22.

[0083] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 11, the rotary loading device 4 is configured such that the plurality of grippers are rotated by a drive source such as a motor so that each gripper 5 is moved by a predetermined circumferential angle at a time. Each gripper 5 can individually slide up and down by an electric actuator 42 provided on the rotary center support column 41. Linear guides 43 are arranged on both sides of the electric actuator 42. Each gripper 5 can slide up and down along the linear guides 43 in response to the driving force of the electric actuator.

[0084] The electric actuator 42 and the pair of linear guides 43 are arranged on a base plate 44 provided at the rotary center support column 41. A cam guide 45 is attached to the electric actuator 42 and the pair of linear guides 43. The cam guide 45 has a guide portion 451 that is used when a pair of gripping portions 51 of the gripper 5 opens and closes. The guide portion 451 has a linear shape in its central portion where the paired gripping portions 51 are closed so that the paired gripping portions 51 extend parallel to each other. The guide portion 451 is curved toward the rotary center support column 41 at its outer portions where the paired gripping portions 51 are opened.

[0085] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 13, by arranging and combining the other chuck portion 62 with the one chuck portion 61, the rotary support chuck 6 is transferred (conveyed) to the rotary device 2 by the rotary loader 4. Each of the rotary support chuck 6 and the cylindrical workpiece 8 and the cutting tool 7 is held by the external transfer base or a robot by the gripper 5 disposed at the external delivery / receipt position 502, and the rotary loader 4 is rotated so that this gripper 5 is moved to the internal delivery / receipt position 501. Thus, each of the rotary support chuck 6, the cylindrical workpiece 8, and the cutting tool 7 is transferred to the position facing the rotary device.

[0086] The rotary support chuck 6 is configured such that one chuck portion 61 and the other chuck portion 62 are combined together by aligning their respective centers with each other, and a center shaft 621 projecting downward at a center position of the other chuck portion 62 is inserted into a center hole 611 formed at a center position of one chuck portion 61. A center hole 83 is formed in the center of the cylindrical workpiece 8. When the cylindrical workpiece 8 is held between one chuck portion 61 and the other chuck portion 62, the center shaft 621 inserted through the center hole 83 of the cylindrical workpiece 8 is inserted into the center hole 611.The one chuck portion 61 and the other chuck portion 62 are combined with each other by aligning the respective centers of the center shaft 621 and the center hole 611 with each other, regardless of whether the one chuck portion 61 and the other chuck portion 62 hold the cylindrical workpiece 8 between them or not.

[0087] The rotary support clamping device 6 is mounted on the rotating device 2 as follows.

[0088] As this is the case in the Fig. 13 and Fig. As shown in Fig. 15, the gripper 5 located at the external delivery / receiving position 502 first holds, from the external transfer base or the robot, the rotary support jig 6 having the other jig section 62 located at the one jig section 61. Thereafter, the rotary loader 4 is rotated so that the gripper 5 located at the external delivery / receiving position 502 is moved to the internal delivery / receiving position 501. Then, the gripper 5 moved to the internal delivery / receiving position 501 is moved downward to mount the one jig section 61 onto the one rotary spindle 21. Thereafter, the other rotary spindle 22 provided on the rotary center support column 41 of the rotary loading device 4 is moved downward to mount the other chuck section 62 onto the other rotary spindle 22.Subsequently, the other rotary spindle 22 is moved upward so that the cylindrical workpiece 8 can be received between one clamping device section 61 and the other clamping device section 62.

[0089] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 15, a deburring tool 63 is attached to one chuck portion 61 of the rotary support chuck 6. The deburring tool 63 is mounted so as to be capable of rotating about a center axis 601 of the one chuck portion 61 and is configured to deburr an end surface of the cylindrical workpiece 8 held between the one chuck portion 61 and the other chuck portion 62.

[0090] The deburring tool 63 of the present embodiment includes a ring portion 631 rotatable about a central axis 601 of the one chuck portion 61, a support arm portion 632 provided to protrude to one side in the circumferential direction from the ring portion 631, and a rotary tool portion 633 supported in the support arm portion 632 so as to be rotatable about a central axis parallel to the central axis 601 of the one chuck portion 61. The support arm portion 632 is provided with a stopper groove 64 that engages with a holding member (rod) 65 (see FIG. Fig. 6), which is arranged on a holder of the turning machine 1 (stands on it).

[0091] When the one chuck section 61 is mounted on the one rotary spindle 21, the stopper groove 64 of the support arm section 632 is engaged with the holding member 65 so that the deburring tool 63 does not rotate about the central axis 601 of the one chuck section 61 when the one rotary spindle 21 and the one chuck section 61 rotate.

[0092] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 12, the height position of the gripper 5 is changed to the following three height positions when the gripper 5 is moved between the external delivery / receive position 502 and the internal delivery / receive position 501 while holding the cylindrical workpiece 8. That is, the height position of the gripper 5 can be changed to: a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8 at the external delivery / receive position 502; a height position at which the gripper 5 holds the cylindrical workpiece 8 and is rotated by the rotary loader 4; and a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8 at the internal delivery / receive position 501.The height position at which the gripper 5 holds the cylindrical workpiece 8 and is rotated by the rotary loading device 4 is the first height position 50A at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8 to and from the rotary device 2. The first height position 50A is defined as a height position at which the cylindrical workpiece 8 held by the gripper 5 is positioned slightly higher than the one chuck portion 61 on the rotary device 2.

[0093] As this is Fig. 13, the height position of the gripper 5 is changed to the following three height positions when the gripper 5 is moved between the external delivery / receive position 502 and the internal delivery / receive position 501 while holding the rotary support jig 6.

[0094] That is, the height position of the gripper 5 can be changed to: a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support jig 6 at the external delivery / receipt position 502; a height position at which the gripper 5 holds the rotary support jig 6 and is rotated by the rotary loading device 4; and a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support jig 6 at the internal delivery / receipt position 501. The height position at which the gripper 5 holds the rotary support jig 6 and is rotated by the rotary loading device 4 is the second height position 50B at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support jig 6 to and from the rotary device 2. The second height position 50B is set as a height position at which the rotary support chuck 6 held by the gripper 5 is arranged slightly higher than the one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2.

[0095] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 14, the height position of the gripper 5 is changed to the following three height positions when the gripper 5 is moved between the external delivery / receipt position 502 and the internal delivery / receipt position 501 while holding a pallet 70 with the cutting tool 7 held thereon. That is, the height position of the gripper 5 can be changed to: a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the pallet 70 at the external delivery / receipt position 502; a height position at which the gripper 5 holds the pallet 70 and is rotated by the rotary loader 4; and a height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cutting tool 7 held on the pallet 70 to and from a cutting tool mounting section 31 of the machining device 3 at the internal delivery / receipt position 501.The height position at which the gripper 5 holds the pallet 70 and is rotated by the rotary loading device 4 is the third height position 50C, at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cutting tool 7 to and from the machining device 3. The third height position 50C is set at a height position at which the pallet 70 held by the gripper 5 is slightly higher than the one clamping device section 61 on the rotary device 2.

[0096] The operation of the turning machine 1 of the present embodiment is described below.

[0097] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 14, when processing the cylindrical workpiece 8, the pallet 70 holding the cutting tool 7 corresponding to the type of cylindrical workpiece 8 is held by the gripper 5 at the external delivery / receive position 502, and the height position of this gripper 5 is set to the third height position 50C at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cutting tool 7. The third height position 50C is set to such a height that the gripper 5 and the pallet 70 do not interfere with one chuck section 61 on one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2 and the other chuck section 62 on the other rotary spindle 22 when the rotary loader 4 rotates.By holding the gripper 5 at the third height position 50C, the rotary loader 4 is rotated so that the cutting tool 7, held on the pallet 70 by the gripper 5, is moved from the external delivery / receipt position 502 to the internal delivery / receipt position 501, so that the cutting tool 7 faces the rotary device 2 and the machining device 3. Then, the cutting tool mounting section 31 of the machining device 3 is moved, and the cutting tool 7 held by the gripper 5 is mounted on the cutting tool mounting section 31.

[0098] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 13, the rotary support jig 6 corresponding to the type of cylindrical workpiece 8 is held by the gripper 5 at the external delivery / receive position 502, and the height position of this gripper 5 is set to the second height position 50B at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support jig 6. The second height position 50B is set to such a height that the gripper 5 and the rotary support jig 6 do not interfere with the one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2 when the rotary loading device 4 rotates. By holding the gripper 5 at the second height position 50B, the rotary loading device 4 is rotated so that the rotary support chuck 6 held by the gripper 5 is moved from the external delivery / receipt position 502 to the internal delivery / receipt position 501 so that the rotary support chuck 6 faces the rotary device 2.The gripper 5 is moved downward to mount one chuck portion 61 of the rotary support chuck 6 held by the gripper 5 onto one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2.

[0099] The other rotary spindle 22 on the rotary center support column 41 is moved downward to mount the other rotary spindle 22 on the other chuck section 62, which is combined with the one chuck section 61. Then, the other rotary spindle 22 is moved upward and retracted.

[0100] As this is Fig. As shown in Fig. 12, a cylindrical workpiece 8 before machining is held by the gripper 5 at the external delivery / receive position 502, and the height position of this gripper 5 is set to the first height position 50A at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8. The first height position 50A is set to a height such that the gripper 5 and the cylindrical workpiece 8 do not interfere with one chuck portion 61 on one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2 when the rotary loading device 4 rotates. The other chuck portion 62 on the other rotary spindle 22 of the rotary device 2 is recessed to a position such that the other chuck portion 62 does not interfere with the cylindrical workpiece 8.By holding the gripper 5 at the first height position 50A, the rotary loading device 4 is rotated so that the cylindrical workpiece 8 held by the gripper 5 is moved from the external delivery / receipt position 502 to the internal delivery / receipt position 501 so that the cylindrical workpiece 8 faces the rotary device 2.

[0101] The gripper 5 is moved downward to mount the cylindrical workpiece 8 onto one chuck section 61 mounted on one rotary spindle 21 of the rotary device 2. The other rotary spindle 22 of the rotary device 2 is moved downward to insert the center shaft 621 of the other chuck section 62 mounted on the other rotary spindle 22 into the center hole 83 of the cylindrical workpiece 8 and the center hole 611 of the one chuck section 61 mounted on the one rotary spindle 21 (see FIG. Fig. 15).

[0102] In this way, the cylindrical workpiece 8 is fed in and is held between one chuck section 61 and the other chuck section 62 so that the cylindrical workpiece 8 can be rotated by the rotating device 2.

[0103] Then, the cutting tool 7 on the machining device 3 is rotated to cut serration surfaces 81 on the outer periphery of the cylindrical workpiece 8 rotated by the rotary device 2. After that, the other rotary spindle 22 and the other chuck section 62 are retracted upward, the machined cylindrical workpiece 8 mounted on the one chuck section 61 on the one rotary spindle 21 is held by the gripper 5 located at the internal delivery / receipt position 501, and the rotary loader 4 is rotated to move this gripper 5 to the external delivery / receive position 502, thereby carrying out the cylindrical workpiece 8.Subsequently, the process of feeding in the cylindrical workpiece 8, machining the cylindrical workpiece 8 and feeding out the cylindrical workpiece 8 is repeated according to the number of cylindrical workpieces 8 to be machined.

[0104] When replacement of the rotary support chuck 6 or the cutting tool 7 is required according to the type of cylindrical workpiece 8 to be machined, the rotary loading device 4 is rotated so that the gripper 5 holding the rotary support chuck 6 or the cutting tool 7 moves between the internal delivery / receipt position 501 and the external delivery / receive position 502 while being held at the second height position 50B or the third height position 50C, in a manner similar to that described above.

[0105] As described above, in the turning machine 1, the height position of the gripper 5 on the rotary loading device 4 can be changed to the three height positions, namely the height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cylindrical workpiece 8, the height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the rotary support jig 6, and the height position at which the gripper 5 delivers and receives the cutting tool 7. This can reduce the time required to move the gripper 5 of the rotary loading device 4 up and down when delivering and receiving the cylindrical workpiece 8, the rotary support jig 6, and the cutting tool 7, and thus reduce the time required for transferring the cylindrical workpiece 8 and replacing the rotary support jig 6 and the cutting tool 7.

[0106] In the turning machine 1, the cylindrical workpiece 8, the rotary support fixture 6, and the cutting tool 7 can be delivered and received using the same rotary loading device 4. This can also reduce the time required for replacing the rotary support fixture 6 and the cutting tool 7.
