Description

Technical area

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the technical field of displaying mouth modeling images of undercuts used in the manufacture of a dental prosthesis for an edentulous oral cavity. State of the art

[0002] In the current art, an undercut is a specific area adjacent to the curve formed between the lip (labial), buccal, or lingual skin and the gingiva in an oral cavity. It is used to improve the fit of an insert (e.g., a denture) inserted into the oral cavity of an edentulous patient. The presence, depth, or area of the undercut varies from patient to patient.

[0003] Depending on the presence, depth, or area of the undercut, the degree of retention of the inserter in the oral cavity or the ease with which the inserter is smoothly inserted into the oral cavity may vary, and the degree of pain experienced by the patient may also vary accordingly. By determining a patient's undercut in advance, the practitioner can also more easily determine whether surgical intervention in the patient's oral cavity is necessary before fabricating the inserter.

[0004] Therefore, it is important to utilize information about the patient's undercut to improve fit, retention, ease of insertion, and pain associated with inserting the insert, as well as to determine whether surgical intervention is necessary before fabricating the insert. However, conventional technologies have the problem of providing only limited functionality, such as merely displaying the depth, area, etc. of the patient's undercut. RevelationTechnical Problem

[0032] The present invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings so that a person skilled in the art can easily practice the present invention. However, the invention may be embodied in many different embodiments and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments shown here.

[0033] A number of embodiments are described in detail below with reference to the drawings.

[0034] Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating an example configuration of a device 100 according to an embodiment.

[0035] As in Fig. 1, a device 100 may include a receiving unit 110, a processor 120, and a display 130.

[0036] According to one embodiment, the receiving unit 110 may acquire undercut data comprising data on the undercut location and undercut depth determined based on scan data for an oral cavity and an insertion path of an insert body corresponding to the oral cavity. The undercut location and undercut depth may be determined based on the scan data of an upper jaw (maxilla) and a lower jaw (mandible) and may comprise the undercut location and undercut depth for both the upper jaw and the lower jaw.

[0037] For example, the scan data for the oral cavity may include a three-dimensional (3D) scan image of the edentulous maxilla and mandible.

[0038] With reference to Fig. 3 and Fig. 6, the insertion bodies 330 and 630 corresponding to the oral cavity may comprise dentures or the like that can be inserted into the edentulous upper and lower jaws, and the insertion paths 340 and 640 may be determined based on operative inputs (e.g., directional operative inputs or the like) that are responsive to a Fig. 3, Fig. 4 and Fig. 6, and a mandibular insertion path UI 320 and a mandibular insertion path UI 430, and can be displayed on mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601 to indicate the three-dimensional direction in which the insertion bodies 330 and 630 can be inserted into the upper jaw and the lower jaw. Fig. 3 (c) and the insertion path 340 shown in Fig. The insertion path 640 shown in Figure 6(c) represents the paths along which the insertion bodies 330 and 630 are inserted toward the occlusal plane and chewing surface plane (vertical) of an upper jaw base modeling image 300 and a lower jaw base modeling image 400, respectively. The mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601 may include the upper jaw base modeling image 300, an upper jaw side modeling image 301, the lower jaw base modeling image 400, and a lower jaw side modeling image 601.

[0039] In one embodiment, the undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 610, as shown in the Fig. 3 to 6, also include the deepest areas and adjacent areas of the labial curves of the maxilla and mandible, the buccal curves of the maxillary tuberosity, and the buccal and labial curves of the mandibular tuberosity. Essentially, the undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610 of the entire maxilla and mandible can be captured. The undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610 can provide information not only about the undercut location but also about the undercut depth.

[0040] Additionally, the receiving unit 110 can receive information provided by an external device (not shown). For example, the receiving unit 110 can comprise a wired or wireless communication device capable of receiving various types of information by connecting to an external device or component (not shown) via a network or a signal processing module.

[0041] According to one embodiment, the processor 120 may determine a target region 510 for the undercut update based on user inputs applied to the undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610, and may update the undercut depth of the target region 510 to match the undercut depth of the adjacent region.

[0042] Processor 120 may also perform a series of operations to capture the updated mouth modeling image 500 and may be electrically connected to components (not shown) in addition to the receiving unit 110 and the display to control the data flow between them. For this purpose, processor 120 may be implemented as a central processing unit (CPU) that controls the overall operation of device 100.

[0043] The display 130 may display the scan data, the undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 610, the mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400 and 601 and the updated mouth modeling image 500, according to one embodiment.

[0044] Furthermore, it should be understandable for the expert that in addition to the Fig. 1, further general components may be present in the device 100. According to one embodiment, the device 100 may further comprise a user interface unit for receiving user inputs and a storage unit configured to store the data described in the description.

[0045] The embodiments described above are described with reference to the Fig. 2 to 5 are explained in more detail.

[0046] Fig. 2 is a flowchart illustrating an example method for displaying an updated mouth modeling image according to an embodiment.

[0047] In step S210, a device 100 may acquire scan data for an oral cavity. For example, the scan data for an oral cavity may include a 3D scan image of the edentulous maxilla and mandible.

[0048] In step S220, the device 100 may acquire undercut data including data on undercut location and undercut depth determined based on an insertion path of an insert body corresponding to the oral cavity.

[0049] In one embodiment, the undercut data may include information about the undercut location and the undercut depth determined based on a predetermined insertion path (e.g., a standard insertion path) of the insert body.

[0050] In step S230, the device 100 may acquire a mouth modeling image having an undercut region divided into a plurality of regions based on the sample data and the undercut region.

[0051] In this regard, referring to the Fig. 3 to 6, the undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 610 may be composed of values of a smallest unit (e.g., pixel, other area unit, etc.) and may have a plurality of regions distinguished based on the undercut depth.

[0052] Furthermore, the undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 610 may be determined based on operational inputs applied to the maxillary insertion path UI 320 and the mandibular insertion path UI 430, and may be determined corresponding to the insertion paths 340 and 640, which indicate the three-dimensional direction in which the insertion bodies 330 and 630 can be substantially inserted into the oral cavity.

[0053] As in the Fig. 3 to 6, the undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 610 can be determined differently depending on the insertion paths 340 and 640 of the insertion bodies 330 and 630. For example, the device 100 may determine a minimum insertion path that minimizes the undercut depth (or size) among the plurality of undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610 detected according to a plurality of insertion paths, and then determine and display one or more undercut regions from the plurality of undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610 based on the minimum insertion path.

[0054] For example, the apparatus 100 may determine the maximum value among the undercut depth values corresponding to each of the plurality of undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610, and determine at least one insertion path corresponding to the undercut region having the lowest maximum value as the minimum insertion path.

[0055] Specifically, the device 100 may determine, from a first undercut region having the maximum undercut depth value of 0.5 mm and a second undercut region having the maximum undercut depth value of 0.3 mm, that the insertion path corresponding to the second undercut region having the lower maximum depth value is the minimum insertion path.

[0056] The more the undercut depth is minimized, the better the wearing comfort of the insert body can be improved during insertion.

[0057] In another embodiment, the minimum insertion path may refer to an insertion path where the total sum of all undercut depth values displayed in undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610 is minimal (or within a predetermined degree), or where the size of the undercut region with an undercut depth value that exceeds a predetermined value is minimal.

[0058] The device 100 may display the undercut area corresponding to the minimum insertion path detected based on the plurality of undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610.

[0059] In one embodiment, there may be a case where the insertion path 340 or 640 is updated based on user input to the maxillary insertion path UI 320 or the mandibular insertion path UI 430. For example, the device 100 may display an updated undercut region corresponding to the insertion path updated according to the user input.

[0060] Additionally, the updated undercut area may have a plurality of areas, and these areas may be displayed in colors corresponding to the undercut depth in the updated undercut area.

[0061] For example, since the plurality of regions may comprise multiple pixels, they may be distinguished into multiple different regions based on the undercut depth, and each region may correspond to a different color according to the undercut depth value.

[0062] The device 100 may display the updated undercut area based on the color corresponding to the updated undercut depth value.

[0063] In another embodiment, the plurality of regions may be distinguished based on the undercut depth range for the undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, 444, and 610, and the colors corresponding to the plurality of regions may be determined according to the undercut depth range. For example, regions with the same undercut depth among the plurality of regions may be identified by assigning the same color.

[0064] With reference to the Fig. 3 and Fig. 6, the undercut regions 310 and 610 may be displayed as a plurality of regions differing in undercut depth, and these regions may be displayed in different colors depending on the undercut depth.

[0065] In addition, the plurality of areas, with reference to diagram (a) in Fig. 4, include jaw-side undercut regions 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuber, which are based on jaw-side regions along a connecting line connecting landmarks 410 of the maxillary tuber. Referring to diagram (c), the plurality of regions may include jaw-side undercut regions 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuber and lingual undercut regions 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuber, which are based on jaw-side and lingual regions along a connecting line connecting landmarks 440 of the mandibular tuber.

[0066] For example, the maxillary tuberosity may refer to the molar region of an edentulous maxilla, and the mandibular tuberosity may refer to the molar region of the edentulous mandible. The buccal undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity, the buccal undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuberosity, and the lingual undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuberosity may be among the most important areas where the prosthesis fits snugly within the oral cavity.

[0067] The maxillary tuberosity undercut areas 421 and 422 may appear as two areas on the left and right sides of the maxillary mouth scan data based on the connecting line connecting each maxillary tuberosity landmark 410.

[0068] The cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuber and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuber may appear as a total of four areas: two on the left and two on the right side of the mouth scan data, based on the connecting line connecting each mandibular tuber landmark 440.

[0069] The connecting line may include a straight line connecting a plurality of landmarks 410 of the maxillary tuber and a straight line connecting a plurality of landmarks 440 of the mandibular tuber, wherein the landmarks are acquired on the left and right sides of the mouth scan data for the maxilla and mandible, respectively. The cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuber, the cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuber, and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuber may be displayed in the mouth scan data for the maxilla and mandible according to the location of the connecting line.

[0070] In a related embodiment, the connecting line in the mouth scan data for the maxilla and the mandible may be translated in a predetermined direction (e.g., further anterior, further posterior) according to the user input, and the translation direction may correspond to the locations of the plurality of landmarks 410 of the tuber maxillae, the buccal undercut regions 443 and 444 of the mandible, and the lingual undercut regions 441 and 442 of the mandible.

[0071] The maxillary cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422, the mandibular cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444, and the mandibular tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 corresponding to the maxillary tuberosity landmarks 410 and the mandibular tuberosity landmarks 440 located at the point to which the connecting line has been moved according to the user input can be displayed on the mouth scan data or the mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601 for the maxilla and the mandible.

[0072] In step S240, the device 100 may acquire an updated mouth modeling image 500 based on the undercut depth for a region adjacent to the target region 510, including any one of the plurality of regions, according to the user input applied to the target region 510, and display the updated mouth modeling image 500. In one example, the mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601 may include modeling images for the upper jaw and the lower jaw, and accordingly, the updated mouth modeling image 500 may also include updated modeling images for the upper jaw and the lower jaw.

[0073] In one embodiment, the device 100 may determine the target area 510 for the undercut update based on a user input applied to any of the plurality of areas and apply visual effects to the determined target area 510. In this context, the device 100 may, according to Fig. 5 display the target area 510 determined based on the user input applied to any one of the plurality of areas by applying visual effects (e.g., highlighting the border, changing color, etc.) to indicate that the target area 510 has been selected in response to the selection input.

[0074] Furthermore, the device 100 may update the undercut depth of the target region 510 based on the undercut depth of the adjacent region, e.g., the undercut depth of one or more of the regions adjacent to the target region 510.

[0075] For example, if the undercut depth of the target area 510 is deeper than that of the adjacent area, the contact strength of the insert body 330 or 630 may be reduced. Therefore, the device 100 may update the undercut depth of the target area 510 to correspond to the undercut depth of one or more of the areas adjacent to the target area 510. Accordingly, the undercut depth of the target area 510 may be updated to be similar to or equal to the undercut depth of the adjacent area, so that an updated mouth modeling image 500 may be obtained.

[0076] Fig. 3 is a diagram illustrating an example of the representation of the maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 determined based on the insertion path 340 of a maxillary insert body according to one embodiment.

[0077] Referring to Fig. 3, the device 100 can detect and display the maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 having data on the undercut location and undercut depth determined based on the insertion path 340 of a maxillary inserter.

[0078] The displayed maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 may be divided into a plurality of regions, and these regions may be updated based on the insertion path 340 of the maxillary insert body.

[0079] For example, user inputs for updating the maxillary insertion body insertion path 340 may include a directional update input for the maxillary insertion path UI 320.

[0080] (a) and (b) of Fig. 3 are diagrams illustrating an example of the maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 formed when the maxillary insert body 330 is inserted from the patient's maxilla side along the maxillary insert body insertion path 340, according to one embodiment.

[0081] For example, the device 100 may display the maxillary lateral modeling image 301 and the maxillary insertion body 330 as shown in diagram (a). Subsequently, the device may display an image in which the maxillary insertion body 330 is fitted to a maxillary lateral modeling image 301, as shown in diagram (b), based on the maxillary insertion body insertion path 340 determined according to the user input to a preset insertion path or the maxillary insertion path UI 320, which may be displayed on one side of the maxillary lateral modeling image 301.

[0082] Specifically under (b) in Fig. 3 shows the state in which the upper jaw lateral modeling image 301 and the upper jaw insert 330 are aligned. The area marked with a circle in the upper jaw lateral modeling image 301 shown in (a) has a concave portion formed to resemble the typical mouth structure of a patient. As shown in (b), which shows the upper jaw insert body 330 inserted into the upper jaw lateral modeling image 301 along the insertion path 340, when the upper jaw insert body 330 is inserted into the upper jaw, an undercut portion 310 may form in the area marked with a circle due to the concave portion.

[0083] In one embodiment, the device 100 may detect matching reference points (not shown) based on the lateral modeling image 301 of the maxilla, the maxillary insert body 330, and the insertion path 340 of the maxillary insert body, and display the matching result by matching each image based on the matching reference points, as shown in diagram (b).

[0084] (c) and (d) of Fig. 3 are diagrams visually illustrating an example of the maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 formed when the maxillary inserter 330 is inserted into the patient's maxilla along the maxillary inserter insertion path 340 at the time shown in the diagram, according to one embodiment.

[0085] For example, the device 100 may display the maxillary base modeling image 300 and the maxillary insert body 330 as shown in Figure (c).

[0086] In addition, the device 100 may display an image indicating that the maxillary lip-side undercut region 310 on the maxillary base modeling image 300 is updated according to the maxillary insert body insertion path 340 determined based on user inputs to the maxillary insertion path UI 320 displayed on one side of the maxillary base modeling image 300, as shown in diagram (b).

[0087] This embodiment can be applied in the same or similar manner in (a) and (b).

[0088] In this way, by visualizing the lip-side undercut area 310 of the upper jaw formed when the upper jaw insert body 330 is inserted into the patient's oral cavity as shown in the figure, the user can intuitively and easily understand the information about the undercut.

[0089] Fig. 4 is a diagram illustrating an example in which the cheek-side undercut areas of the maxillary tuberosity, the cheek-side undercut areas of the mandibular tuberosity, and the tongue-side undercut areas of the mandibular tuberosity are determined and displayed according to an embodiment.

[0090] As in Fig. 4, the device 100 can detect landmarks 410 of the maxillary tuber and landmarks 440 of the mandibular tuber from the mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601, as shown in (a) and (c). The device can then detect and display the cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuber, the cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuber, and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuber on the mouth modeling images 300, 301, 400, and 601 based on the cheek-side and tongue-side areas along the connecting lines connecting the landmarks 410 of the maxillary tuber and the landmarks 440 of the mandibular tuber, respectively.

[0091] In one embodiment, when the maxillary insert body insertion path or the mandibular insert body insertion path is updated according to the user input to the maxillary insertion path UI 320 or the mandibular insertion path UI 420, the jaw-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity, the jaw-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuberosity, and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuberosity displayed based on connecting lines of the maxilla and the mandible may be updated and displayed.

[0092] When the maxillary tuberosity undercut areas 421 and 422, the maxillary tuberosity undercut areas 443 and 444, and the lingual tuberosity undercut areas 441 and 442 are updated, they are updated based on the connecting lines of the maxilla and the mandible, so that only the size values and depth values of the undercut areas can be updated and displayed without changing their locations.

[0093] In one embodiment, the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth values of the maxillary tuberosity cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422, the mandibular tuberosity cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444, and the mandibular tuberosity lingual undercut areas 441 and 442 may be displayed as shown in (b) and (d).

[0094] Since, in one embodiment, the jaw-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity, the jaw-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuberosity, and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuberosity are the most important areas in the manufacture of the insert bodies 330 and 630, the device 100 may display these undercut areas as a default display when displaying the maxillary base modeling image 300 and the mandibular base modeling image 400 based on the axial plane.

[0095] In one embodiment, the colors of the cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity, the cheek-side undercut areas 443 and 444 of the mandibular tuberosity, and the tongue-side undercut areas 441 and 442 of the mandibular tuberosity can be determined in the same manner as the colors of the labial undercut area 310 of the maxilla and the labial undercut area 610 of the mandible.

[0096] In one embodiment, the color of the numerical value displayed to indicate the depth value of each undercut region may be determined based on the sum of the undercut depth values for each region forming the maxillary tuberosity cheek-side undercut regions 421 and 422, the mandibular tuberosity cheek-side undercut regions 443 and 444, and the mandibular tuberosity lingual undercut regions 441 and 442.

[0097] For example, in the case of the jaw-side undercut regions 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity, the color of the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth values of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 constituting the jaw-side undercut regions of the maxillary tuberosity can be determined and displayed to correspond to each undercut depth value. For example, if the undercut depth value is less than a first value (e.g., 0.5 mm), it can be displayed in a first color (e.g., green); if it is greater than or equal to the first value (e.g., 0.5 mm) but less than a second value (e.g., 1 mm), it can be displayed in a second color (e.g., blue); and if it is equal to or greater than the second value (e.g., 1 mm), it can be displayed in a third color (e.g., red).

[0098] In another example, the color of the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth values of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 may be determined by whether the sum of the depths of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 is greater than or equal to a third value (e.g., 1.5 mm). For example, if the sum of the depths of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 is less than the third value, the numerical values indicating the depth values of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 may be displayed in green, and if it is greater than or equal to the third value, the numerical values may be displayed in red.

[0099] In another example, the color of the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth value of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422, which form the cheek-side regions 421 and 422 of the tuber maxillae, may be determined based on whether any of the depths of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 is greater than or equal to a fourth value (e.g., 2 mm) and whether the sum of the depths of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 is greater than or equal to a fifth value (e.g., 3 mm).Alternatively, the color of the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth values of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422 constituting the maxillary cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422 may be displayed in yellow when the sum of the depths of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422 is less than the fifth value and either the right undercut area 421 or the left undercut area 422 has a depth greater than or equal to the fourth value.Alternatively, the numerical values displayed to indicate the depth values of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422, which form the cheek-side undercut areas 421 and 422 of the upper jaw, may be displayed in green when the sum of the depths of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422 is less than the fifth value and both the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422 have depths less than the fourth value. In this case, even if the sum of the depths of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422 is small, the color of the numerical values displayed to indicate the depths of the right undercut area 421 and the left undercut area 422, which constitute the maxillary undercut areas 421 and 422, may be yellow if the right undercut area 421 or the left undercut area 422 has a large depth. This allows the user to intuitively recognize the depth of the undercut area.

[0100] In this way, the color of the numerical values indicating the depth values of the right undercut region 421 and the left undercut region 422 constituting the jaw-side undercut regions 421 and 422 of the maxillary tuberosity can be determined differently based on the undercut depth of the corresponding region, and the numerical values are displayed so that the user can easily recognize the depths of the undercut regions, which are the most important factors in manufacturing the insert bodies 330 and 630.

[0101] Fig. 5 is a diagram illustrating an example of updating the undercut depth of a target region based on user inputs applied to the target region according to one embodiment.

[0102] Referring to Fig. 5, the device 100 may determine the target area 510 for the undercut update based on user inputs applied to the target area on the displayed modeling image 300 of the maxillary base, and may update the undercut depth of the target area 510 to correspond to the undercut depth of the adjacent area based on the update input applied to the determined target area 510. Specifically, as shown in (b) of Fig. 5, the target area 510 determined based on the user input may have the undercut depth corresponding to the target area 510. When the user input is applied to the menu shown in (b), the depth of the target area 510 may be updated to correspond to the undercut depth of an undercut area adjacent to the target area 510.

[0103] In one embodiment, the device 100 may determine the target area 510 for the undercut update based on a user input applied to any of the plurality of areas and apply visual effects to the determined target area 510.

[0104] With reference to Fig. 5, the device 100 may determine the target area 510 based on a user input applied to any of the plurality of areas and display the target area 510 by applying visual effects to indicate that the target area 510 has been selected.

[0105] Additionally, in one embodiment, device 100 may provide an update interface that allows the user to update the undercut depth for target area 510. The undercut depth update interface may include adjustment menus for size and intensity. The size may be the unit (e.g., 0.5 mm increments) for the range over which the undercut depth is updated according to the update input, and the intensity may specify the unit (e.g., 0.05 mm increments) for adjusting the undercut depth of target area 510.

[0106] The device 100 may update the undercut depth of the target area 510 based on user inputs regarding size and intensity provided via the undercut depth update interface.

[0107] Referring to the diagram on the right side of Fig. 5, the undercut depth of the target region 510 may be updated to match the undercut depth of the adjacent region when an update input for the undercut depth is provided by the value of x.

[0108] The device 100 may determine the target area 510 based on user inputs applied to any one of the plurality of areas.

[0109] For example, the user input may include a selection input (e.g., a click input, a touch input, etc.) for one of the plurality of regions displayed and distinguished by color, or a drag input across multiple regions. When entering a drag input across multiple regions, the specific target region 510 may be determined by a connecting line connecting the regions, regardless of the boundaries of the multiple regions.

[0110] After the target area 510 is determined, the device 100 may update the undercut area of the target area 510 based on the size and intensity update input provided via the undercut depth update interface.

[0111] For example, as the intensity value increases according to the update input, the undercut depth of the target region 510 may decrease to match the undercut depth of the adjacent region, and as the intensity value decreases according to the update input, the undercut depth of the target region 510 may increase, causing the undercut region to become deeper.

[0112] After the undercut region of the target region 510 has been updated, the device 100 may display the updated target region 510 along with visual effects indicating that the target region 510 has been selected. The visual effects may be removed based on user input regarding the removal of the visual effects or user input applied to an area outside the updated modeling image.

[0113] The embodiments described above can be applied in the same or similar manner to the lateral modeling image 301 of the upper jaw, the modeling image 400 of the upper jaw base and the lateral modeling image 601 of the lower jaw.

[0114] In this way, the device 100 can update the depth of the undercut region based on user inputs applied to the undercut region.

[0115] In one embodiment, the device 100 may determine, from a plurality of undercut regions corresponding to the plurality of insertion paths 340 and 640, an undercut region to be displayed first based on a plurality of criteria. Furthermore, the device may determine which undercut region to display first based on a weight assigned differently to each criterion depending on its importance.

[0116] For example, the device 100 may determine which undercut region of the plurality of candidate undercut regions to display first based on a weighted order of criteria, such as whether the insertion path 340 or 640 corresponding to the undercut region corresponds to a reference insertion path, the undercut depth for the undercut regions 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, and 444, and the size (or area) of the undercut region.

[0117] The reference insertion path may, for example, include insertion paths 340 and 640, which are used to insert insert bodies 330 and 630. The direction in which insert bodies 330 and 630 are inserted typically comprises a diagonal direction from the front toward the maxilla in the case of the maxilla and a vertical direction toward the occlusal plane in the case of the mandible. These directions may be those that facilitate the patient's insertion of insert bodies 330 and 630.

[0118] Since the insert bodies 330 and 630 are more likely to be inserted along the reference insertion path that is mainly used when the insert body is worn in the patient's oral cavity, the device can determine the insertion paths that have a similarity to the reference insertion path from the plurality of candidate undercut regions and assign the highest weight to the path with the greatest similarity among the determined similarities.

[0119] Since an appropriate degree of undercut can improve the fit and comfort of the insert bodies 330 and 630, the undercut depth can be assigned the second highest weighting.

[0120] In addition, a certain amount of undercut area 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, or 444 is required to ensure that the insert body 330 maintains an appropriate degree of fit during insertion. However, if the undercut area 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, or 444 is too large, it can make the insertion and removal of the insert body 330 difficult. Therefore, the size of the undercut area is important. However, since the undercut depth has a greater influence on the fit, comfort, and ease of insertion of the insert body 330 than the size of the undercut areas 310, 421, 422, 441, 442, 443, and 444, the size of the undercut area can be given the third greatest importance.

[0121] The device 100 may determine an undercut region to be displayed first from the plurality of candidate undercut regions based on the differently assigned weights, and may display the determined undercut region.

[0122] The embodiments relating to the aforementioned weights as described in Fig. 5 are presented as an example and should not be understood as being limited to the described embodiments.

[0123] Fig. 6 is a diagram illustrating an embodiment in which the lip-side undercut region 610 of the lower jaw determined based on the insertion path 640 of the lower jaw insert body is shown.

[0124] With reference to Fig. 6, the device 100 can detect and display the lower jaw lip-side undercut region 610 having data on the undercut location and undercut depth determined based on the lower jaw insert body insertion path 640.

[0125] The displayed lower jaw lip-side undercut region 610 may be divided into a plurality of regions, and these regions may be updated based on the lower jaw insert body insertion path 640.

[0126] The user input for updating the mandibular insert body insertion path 640 may, for example, include a directional update input for the mandibular insert path UI 430.

[0127] (a) and (b) of Fig. 6 are diagrams illustrating an example of the mandibular lip-side undercut region 610 formed when the mandibular insert body 630 is inserted from the patient's mandibular side along the mandibular insert body insertion path 640, according to one embodiment.

[0128] For example, the device 100 may display the mandibular lateral modeling image 601 and the mandibular insert body 630 as shown in diagram (a). Subsequently, the device may display an image in which the mandibular insert body 630 is fitted to the mandibular lateral modeling image 601, as shown in diagram (b), based on the mandibular insert body insertion path 640 determined according to the user input to a preset insertion path or the mandibular lateral insertion path UI 430, which may be displayed on one side of the mandibular lateral modeling image 601.

[0129] In one embodiment, the device 100 may detect matching reference points (not shown) based on the lateral modeling image 601 of the mandible, the mandibular insert body 630, and the insertion path 640 of the mandibular insert body, and display the matching result by matching each image based on the matching reference points, as shown in diagram (b).

[0130] (c) and (d) of Fig. 6 are diagrams visually illustrating an example of the mandibular lip-side undercut region 610 formed when the mandibular insert body 630 is inserted into the patient's mandible along the mandibular insert body insertion path 640 at the time shown in the diagram, according to one embodiment.

[0131] For example, the device 100 may display the modeling image 400 of the mandibular base and the mandibular insert body 630 as shown in Figure (c).

[0132] In addition, the device 100 may display an image illustrating that the lip-side undercut region 610 of the mandible on the mandibular base modeling image 400 is updated according to the mandibular insert body insertion path 640 determined based on user inputs to the mandibular insertion path UI 430 displayed on one side of the mandibular base modeling image 400, as shown in diagram (b).

[0133] This embodiment can be applied in the same or similar manner in (a) and (b).

[0134] In this way, by displaying the undercut area 610 of the lower jaw formed when the lower jaw insert body 630 is inserted into the patient's oral cavity as shown in the figure, the user can intuitively and easily understand the information about the undercut.
