AI Technical Summary
Existing inflatable air bags for sealing truck boxes suffer from high friction losses and premature wear due to the use of flexible materials and elastic bands, making them difficult to position and maintain.
The elastic cord of the airbag is guided over a deflection pulley mounted in a flat sleeve within the ventilation opening, with one side of the airbag being non-flexible for improved dimensional stability and easier handling, while the roller guidance minimizes friction and wear.
This design reduces friction losses and extends the sealing device's lifespan by minimizing elastic cord wear and facilitating easier positioning and handling.

Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a sealing device for sealing a rear-opening truck box body against a facade portal during loading and unloading with refrigerated goods.
[0002] It is known to install inflatable, flexible, tube-shaped airbags at the gate opening in the facade of a production facility or refrigerated goods warehouse. Smaller or shorter airbags are used, particularly in the lower horizontal section between the loading ramp and the rear of the truck. These are connected to the vertically arranged, tube-like airbags via a vent and Velcro closure. An elastic cord, usually a braided elastic band, is located inside the airbag and extends from the inflation opening. This elastic cord has little or no tension when the airbag is folded and deflated. As the airbag inflates, this cord becomes taut. The elastic band thus accelerates the airbag's collapse during deflation.
[0003] Due to the relatively large size of the air bag, the elastic band requires a greater length, which is why it extends beyond the air bag's ventilation opening.
[0004] The elastic band is guided by a guide ring or a curved pipe bend.
[0005] The disadvantage is that the associated friction reduces the elasticity of the rubber band and also leads to premature wear of the elastic band.
[0006] A disadvantage of this type of air bag is that it consists entirely of flexible material and is therefore often difficult to position.
[0007] The object of the invention is to create an air bag for optimal sealing between the open rear of a truck box and a facade opening, which achieves lower friction losses of its elastic cord and less wear of the cord at its outlet opening. For improved handling and positioning at its point of use, it should also be more dimensionally stable.
[0008] According to the invention, the problem is solved as specified in the claims.
[0009] For this purpose, the elastic cord () extending from the inner and outer surface of the air bag () through the air bag's ventilation opening () is guided over a pulley (), the pulley () being mounted in a flat sleeve () and the sleeve () being arranged directly in the air bag's ventilation opening.
[0010] At least one side of the air bag is not flexibly foldable but is designed to be flexible, which gives the air bag better shape stability and facilitates better handling when positioning it.
[0011] According to the invention, it is advantageous that the roller guide of the elastic band minimizes its friction losses, which also significantly accelerates the venting process. This also minimizes wear on the elastic cord, which in turn ensures a longer period of trouble-free operation of the sealing device. The stiffened side wall of the air bag allows for easier handling when positioning it in its functional position.
[0012] The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment.
[0013] The accompanying drawing schematically illustrates the arrangement of the roller guide for the elastic cord and the flexible side wall of the air bag.
[0014] The airbag (1) for horizontal sealing in the lower area of the truck's loading platform measures 400 mm in height, 400 mm in width, and 600 mm in length. It consists of three sides made of flexible, foldable material and one side of a rigid, flexible side wall (6). A tubular flap (2) with a hook-and-loop fastener is located on one of the narrow sides of this rigid side wall, serving as a vent for the airbag (1) and for attachment to a vertically arranged airbag.
[0015] Within the ventilation opening(7) of this tab(2) the sleeve(5) with the pulley(4) for guiding the elastic cord(3) is arranged.
[0016] In its sealing function, the flap (2) is connected to a corresponding opening by means of a hook-and-loop fastener (8). The elastic cord (3) is guided into the interior of the vertical air bag and attached there to a fixed point. The length of the elastic cord (3) is 3000 mm. When the vertical air bag is inflated, air also enters the horizontal air bag (1), causing the elastic cord to tighten. When the air bags are deflated, the elastic cord (3) relaxes and accelerates the collapse of the air bag.
