Description

[0001] A device in the form of a flat rectangular panel containing pairs of triboelectric material that harnesses the kinetic energy of low-frequency ocean waves to generate electrical current

[0002] The proposed device uses energy generated by triboelectricity. Triboelectric material pairs exist, where one of the materials acquires a positive charge and the other a negative charge when rubbed against or pressed against another material. Detailed information can be found in special tables showing empirical patterns regarding electrical charges on materials from the triboelectric series.

[0003] For the device for generating electrical current through triboelectricity, we use a multi-modular, multi-layer structure. Some of the layers are conductive media. By "conductive media," we mean conductive textiles.

[0004] A material with good elastic properties is used as the triboelectric material that absorbs a positive charge. The inner surface of this triboelectric material can have a bumpy surface (hill-valley), as shown in Fig. 1. The mounds are coated with triboelectric neutral materials to avoid permanent, direct contact with negatively charged triboelectric material.

[0005] If no vertical pressure is applied to the triboelectric pair, the materials of the triboelectric pair are separated from each other by the elasticity of the heights. Fig. 2, Fig. 3 and Fig. Figure 4 shows the interaction of the materials from a triboelectric pair.

[0006] The proposed device plate for generating electric power uses a multilayer structure. The device is a sandwich consisting of several layers. The layers used are the materials that form triboelectric pairs, as well as materials used as a conductive medium.

[0007] The first layer forms a conductive medium. The second layer forms a bumpy, elastic triboelectric material located at the top of the triboelectric series. The third layer forms a triboelectric material from the bottom of the triboelectric series. This material acquires a negative charge upon interaction with the material in the second layer. The second and third layers form a triboelectric pair. The fourth layer forms a conductive medium.

[0008] The following method for combining layer groups is used: All conductive materials of the layers that are bonded to positively charged triboelectric materials are connected in series. In addition, all conductive materials of the layers that are attached to triboelectric materials that receive a negative charge are also connected in series. The resulting two linear sequences of conductive materials are connected together as shown in Fig. 5 shown.

[0009] The sections in the module can be positioned vertically, one above the other, or one behind the other. When the sections are arranged vertically, the mechanical action extends to both the upper section and all lower sections. The device is housed in a waterproof housing and has a frame.

[0010] One example of such a device's use is on sea walls in harbors, on the open coast, or on breakwaters. The vertical panels can be installed at sea level and wherever the force of the ocean waves is strong enough. Fig. Figure 6 shows an example of the use of such a device on a breakwater. The device is mounted vertically on the side of a dam or breakwater. Several devices are connected to each other via conductors.

[0011] Due to the periodic pressure, the materials that form the triboelectric pair interact. When the pressure of the ocean wave subsides due to the elasticity of the hills, the triboelectric materials separate. This creates a potential difference between them. When these materials are connected by the conductor, an electric current is conducted through the conductor.

[0012] An alternative option is to use the panels on stilts in the open sea, as in Fig. 7. The panels will be installed at an obtuse angle to the incident wave. Under the weight of the incoming wave water, contact between the triboelectric materials occurs periodically, depending on the wave frequency. As the wave rolls back and the water pressure decreases due to the elasticity of the hills, the triboelectric materials separate. As a result, a potential difference exists between them. When these materials are connected by a conductor, an electric current is passed through the conductor. This process is repeated with the frequency of ocean waves.

[0013] Such devices can be used to support various types of marine activities: for lighting coastal areas, as an offshore power plant, as an energy source for water desalination, and so on.

[0014] The described method and device are implemented by the means listed in paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9 requirements of the invention.
