AI Technical Summary
Non-motorized road users like cyclists face difficulty in making their turning maneuvers visible in dark or bad weather conditions due to the inefficiency of existing hand signals and bicycle frame turn signals, which are complex to install and not integrated with body gestures.
A wearable ring with integrated flashing light sources on the index finger, activated via a switch, enhances hand signal visibility by incorporating LEDs that flash at typical road traffic frequencies, adaptable to different finger sizes and handlebars.
The wearable ring significantly improves visibility of hand signals in low-light conditions without requiring vehicle modifications, ensuring enhanced road safety through easy operation and comfort.

Abstract
Description
Technical FieldThe invention relates to a portable ring with integrated light sources for indicating a turn in road traffic. The ring is intended in particular for use by bicycle or e-scooter riders in order to achieve increased visibility by flashing signals on the hand.Prior ArtNon-motorized road users, such as bicycle riders, usually use hand signs to indicate turning processes. However, these are poorly visible in darkness or in bad weather. Existing technical solutions such as indicators on the bicycle frame are often complicated to mount and are not combined directly with the body's own gesture.Object of the InventionThe object of the invention is to provide a simple, body-carried display element which visually supports the classic hand gesture for turning, in order to increase the safety in road traffic.Solution of the ProblemThis object is achieved by a ring according to claim 1, which is carried on the index finger and contains flashing light sources. The ring (1) can be activated via a switch (2) and contains LEDs (3) on the top and bottom sides, which flash at a frequency typical for road traffic.According to claim 2, the ring (1) can be designed to be open at one point, so that it adapts to different finger sizes and can optionally be placed over a bicycle handlebar.Claim 3 describes that the ring (1) is available in different diameters between 1 cm and 5 cm to allow a wide variety of uses.Advantages of the InventionThe invention offers in particular the following advantages:Clearly improved visibility of the hand signs in darkness or poor visibility conditions. No modification or accessories are required on the vehicle. Wearing comfort due to flexible materials and different sizes. Simple Operation Via an Integrated ButtonDESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSFIG. 1 shows a side view of a hand (4) with the ring (1) placed on it, which is activated via a knob (2) attached to the side. Light sources ( 3) (LEDs) are integrated on the top and bottom sides.FIG. 2 shows the top view of the hand (4) with the ring (1) carried and the button (2).FIG. 3 shows a front and rear view of a cyclist with the arm extended. The enlarged representations of the hands show the worn ring ( 1) when the flashing function is activated.Exemplary EmbodimentThe ring (1) is preferably made of flexible plastic or silicone. The light sources (3) consist of yellow flashing LEDs fitted on the top and bottom of the ring. The switch (2) is a tactile push button. The power supply is provided by a small button cell or battery integrated in the ring housing. After activation, the turn signal function starts automatically at a frequency of approximately 1-2 Hz (typical of turn signal indicators), whereby the hand signs of the user are additionally visually emphasized.
Claims
A ring for indicating a turning process in road traffic, characterized in that the ring (1) provided for attachment to the index finger is activated by means of a switch (2) and comprises a flashing light source (3) which is arranged on the upper and lower side of the ring and flashes at a frequency typical of road traffic.Ring according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the ring (1) can be designed to be open at one point in order to enable adaptation to different finger sizes and alternatively can also be fitted over a bicycle handlebar.Ring according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the ring (1) is available in different diameters between 1 cm and 5 cm.
