Description

[0001] The invention relates to an outdoor drying device for laundry items in the form of a rotary clothes dryer.

[0002] Such drying devices are known under the trade name "rotary clothesline" and feature a central pole and an umbrella-like clothesline network at the top for hanging damp laundry for energy-efficient outdoor drying. The disadvantage is that the drying process is relatively slow when placed in the shade and in calm conditions.

[0003] In strong sunlight and at the same time when there is no wind, the laundry items are exposed to intense sunlight, which in the long run leads to a significant impairment of the color of plain and colored laundry items and thus quickly reduces the value of such laundry items.

[0004] The object of the invention is to improve the known drying device in umbrella form in such a way that its efficiency is further increased and also the intensity of the color-impairing solar radiation is significantly reduced.

[0005] Recognizing that wind, i.e. a certain amount of air movement, is essential for an effective drying process, the problem is solved as stated in the claims.

[0006] According to the invention, the post of the drying device with the upper umbrella-like clothesline network is designed to be electromechanically driven, or only the upper umbrella-like clothesline network is designed to be electromechanically driven, thereby setting the clothesline network in a rotating motion around the post. The electromechanical drive can be powered by a solar panel placed directly next to the drying device, a solar panel arranged directly at the top of the drying device, or by mains power.

[0007] The invention is advantageous in that the carousel-like rotating movement of the laundry items creates a certain airflow or air vortex around them.

[0008] This rotary motion significantly accelerates the drying process and thus increases the efficiency of the drying device. The time spent in intense sunlight, especially on bright and colored laundry, is reduced, which in turn has a positive effect on color retention. The electromechanical drive is also available as a cost-effective retrofit using commercially available standard components and assemblies.

[0009] The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment. The pole of a rotary clothes dryer is mounted in a ground socket or a suitable foundation so that it can rotate around its longitudinal axis and is coupled to a roller shutter motor with a power of 20 watts. This motor is connected to a solar panel of approximately the same power. This achieves a peripheral speed of approximately 2 m / sec. on the periphery of the rotary clothes dryer, which has proven to be entirely sufficient for satisfactory drying results.

Claims

[1] Drying device for laundry items in the form of a rotary clothes dryer, characterized by that the post or the standpipe of the drying device with the upper umbrella-like clothesline network is designed to be electromechanically driven or only the upper umbrella-like clothesline network is designed to be electromechanically driven in order to set the clothesline network in a rotating movement around the post, wherein the power supply of the electromechanical drive can be provided by means of a solar panel placed directly next to the drying device or a solar panel arranged directly at the top of the drying device. [2] Drying device according to claim 1, characterized by that the electromechanical drive is designed as a kit for retrofitting the drying device.
