Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a vehicle window insert for an auxiliary heater, hereinafter referred to as a window insert. The window insert consists of a base plate that has the geometry of a side window of a vehicle door and a frame element that enables the insertion and support of an auxiliary heater. Furthermore, it includes an air duct for transporting the warm air from the auxiliary heater through the window insert into the vehicle. The vehicle window insert for an auxiliary heater includes a vehicle secondary plug for connecting the auxiliary heater's power supply and a cable system for routing it through. Furthermore, an intake air filter and an exhaust duct are installed. The window insert can be stored as a rigid unit or as a foldable, space-saving assembly when not in use.
[0002] Auxiliary heaters in various versions are usually used in cars or camping vehicles as permanently installed systems in some standard equipment or in the accessories lists of the vehicle manufacturers; alternatively, there is the option of retrofitting a permanently installed system in the vehicle.
[0003] Auxiliary heaters, as complete units in the form of an assembly consisting of a heater and tank with electronic components, exhaust and supply air ducts, are popular as workshop heaters or heaters for garden sheds. These are the focus of this review.
[0004] Auxiliary heaters as complete units in the form of a modular system are also popular with users of camping vehicles that don't have a permanently installed auxiliary heater. These auxiliary heaters are also popular with roof tent users or those building their own camper vans, as complete units in the form of a modular system, or also called auxiliary heaters in a box. These are also discussed in detail here.
[0005] The traditional use of a parking heater as a complete unit in the form of an assembly, or also called a parking heater in a box, consists of placing it on the ground next to the vehicle. Usually, an additional box or self-built substructure is used to raise the parking heater slightly off the ground, as the fuel, exhaust, and air intake ducts are located underneath the parking heater. Furthermore, an air hose must be installed to supply the warm air into the vehicle. Additionally, a power cable must be routed to the vehicle battery to supply the parking heater system. Alternatively, an additional battery is often placed on the ground next to the parking heater.
[0006] The invention addresses the problem of parking heaters as complete units in the form of an assembly, also known as parking heaters in a box, which sit on the ground next to the vehicle, along with all the components and attachments required for operation. Therefore, the entire unit, including all functional parts and connections, must be removed and transported separately whenever the vehicle needs to be relocated, even if it's only a few meters away. Mobility is a problem.
[0007] Furthermore, the invention is based on the problem that parking heaters, as complete units in the form of an assembly or also called parking heaters in a box, are often stolen because they are separate and not connected to the vehicle. Being separate and not connected to the vehicle means that they often get in the way, requiring additional space, and are often tripping hazards. The problem is theft protection, space requirements, positioning, and overall handling.
[0008] Furthermore, the invention is based on the problem that auxiliary heaters, as complete devices in the form of an assembly or also called auxiliary heaters in a box, have an exhaust system that is difficult to control. Due to their placement on the floor, the exhaust gases can attack the entire vehicle and penetrate it. Due to their location near the floor, the fresh air supply is also often exposed to moisture, which impairs the smooth functioning of the auxiliary heater, as these are often diesel, gasoline, or gas-burning vehicles. Problem: Optimizing the use of auxiliary heating technology, safety, and function.
[0009] The problem of limited mobility is solved by the invention that the auxiliary heater is no longer located next to the vehicle, but is held in the window by means of a vehicle window insert. The functional components of the electronic connection for the separate battery and the warm air supply hose are integrated into the window insert. Since the heater is no longer on the floor, the insert allows for the exhaust and fresh air ducts to be permanently mounted on the heater. By placing all functional components in the vehicle window, the vehicle is mobile; nothing needs to be dismantled to relocate it.
[0010] The problem of theft protection, space requirements for positioning, and overall handling is solved by the invention that the auxiliary heater is no longer located next to the vehicle, but is mounted in the window using a vehicle window insert. The functional components of the electronic connection for the separate battery and the warm air supply hose are integrated into the window insert, thus no longer presenting an easily accessible tripping hazard. The heating system is integrated into the window insert and is integrated into the vehicle's locking mechanism.
[0011] The above-described problem of optimizing the use of auxiliary heating technology, safety, and functionality, is solved by the invention that the auxiliary heater is no longer located next to the vehicle, but rather mounted in the window using a vehicle window insert. The difficult-to-control exhaust gas flow of conventional systems can be vented through the vehicle thanks to the elevated position in the vehicle window. The fresh air supply of conventional systems also benefits from the elevated position, thanks to their placement near the ground.
[0012] The subject matter of the invention is a vehicle window insert for an auxiliary heater, also simply called a window insert.
