Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a dental cleaning pad for cleaning, caring for, and refreshing the teeth, tongue, and oral cavity, particularly for use on the go or in situations without access to water or a toothbrush. The pad according to the invention is impregnated with an oil-based care composition that exerts both a physical and a chemical-biological cleaning and care effect. The object of the invention is to create a practical, discreet, and natural method of oral care that avoids synthetic surfactants and alcohol-based solutions and instead relies on nourishing, antimicrobial, and odor-neutralizing ingredients of plant origin—in particular, coconut oil.
[0002] The dental cleaning pad consists of a soft, absorbent backing material, preferably made of non-woven fabrics, cellulose, cotton blends, or synthetic materials with high liquid absorption and mechanical abrasion properties. The pad's surface is smooth or slightly textured, optionally micro-roughened, and designed to be easily guided over tooth surfaces, gums, and tongue with two fingers without irritating the mucous membranes or damaging the enamel. The pad's dimensions are chosen to ensure safe and comfortable handling, especially for individual, daily use.
[0003] The oil-based care composition with which the pad is impregnated preferably contains fractionated coconut oil or related plant lipids, with the oil phase combined with at least one functional additive. These additives include, for example, xylitol for caries prophylaxis, zinc salts for neutralizing odor-causing compounds, cyclodextrins for the physical binding of volatile molecules, lauric acid as an antibacterial component, and plant extracts such as mint, eucalyptus, or sage for breath freshening. The composition is anhydrous or low in water, leaves a thin, protective film on the treated surfaces upon application, and requires no subsequent rinsing or spitting. The selection of suitable lipids and additives ensures a pleasant texture, good adhesion to the teeth, and rapid evaporation after use.
[0004] Cleaning is achieved by mechanically rubbing the pad surface against the tooth surfaces and tongue, removing soft plaque and simultaneously releasing nourishing active ingredients. Application typically takes one to two minutes and can be done discreetly on the go, for example, after meals, before conversations, or during long journeys. The pads are preferably individually sealed to ensure hygiene, dosage, and portability, although variants with multi-packs, resealable cases, or inserts into modular holders are also conceivable.
[0005] In a preferred embodiment, the tooth cleaning pad can additionally contain microscopically fine abrasive particles, such as calcium carbonate or clay, which enable a gentle polishing of the tooth surfaces and thus promote a slight whitening of the enamel without removing it. Variants with soothing additives such as aloe vera for sensitive mucous membranes or products for children with mild, natural flavors such as vanilla or coconut are also conceivable.
[0006] The invention is characterized in particular by providing a mobile, waterless dental care system in the form of an impregnated cleaning pad in which nourishing and antibacterial oils, especially coconut oil, are incorporated into a manageable, structured carrier material, without the use of aggressive chemical ingredients. Through the targeted combination of mechanical cleaning action, natural care composition, and discreet, hygienic application format, the pad represents a novel solution for effective waterless oral care, significantly expanding the application range of conventional dental care products. Character description Fig. Figure 1 shows a top view of a round tooth cleaning pad according to the invention. The structured surface of the pad with a fine, textured abrasive surface is visible. Fig. 2 shows a side view of the pad according to Fig. 1. The pad has a flat to slightly convex cross-sectional shape with a defined material thickness, with a slightly rounded edge. Fig. Figure 3 shows the tooth cleaning pad according to Fig. 1 in use, held between the thumb and forefinger of one hand to illustrate manual application on the surface of the teeth or tongue.
