Abstract

Leg press as a fitness device for training the leg muscles, - with a rail system to which a seat arrangement consisting of a bench seat and a seat backrest which is pivotally associated with the bench seat and can be locked in different pivoting positions is attached, - with a footplate spaced from the seat arrangement for placing the feet of the person being trained, - wherein the footplate is attached to a support structure which can be moved away from the seat in a linear movement guided on the rail system, triggered by the training person, against a restoring force, and is moved back by the restoring mechanism when the training person reduces the pressure of their feet on the footplate, - and wherein the base plate can be pivoted into a transport position substantially parallel to the rail system, with the further features that - the restoring force is generated by one or more elastic bands 4 acting between the seat assembly and the supporting structure, - and that the device can be brought into a space-saving, handy transport position when the plate is swivelled into the transport position and the seat backrest is simultaneously swivelled until it rests on the seat.

Description

[0001] The invention relates to a leg press as a fitness device.

[0002] Leg presses in gyms are large, heavy machines where the exerciser, seated in a chair, places their feet on a footplate and moves the plate away from and back against a restoring force by flexing and extending their hips and knees. The restoring force is generated by heavy weights, which are lowered and raised via cables through the exerciser's leg movements.

[0003] The invention is based on the object of designing such a training device in a fully functional manner so that it can be easily transported with a simple structure and low weight and can be stored in a space-saving manner when not in use.

[0004] This object is achieved in that the leg press is designed as specified in claim 1.

[0005] The special feature of this solution is that, thanks to the use of elastic bands, it does not require the usual heavy return weights. Furthermore, this and the foldability of the seat back and foot plate allow for easy transport and space-saving storage of the device when not in use.

[0006] Advantageous further developments of the device are specified in subclaims 2 to 4.

[0007] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing in the context of an embodiment.

[0008] The figures show Fig. 1 the leg press according to the invention in a perspective view and with Fig. 2 a top view of the fitness equipment.

[0009] In Fig. 1 shows the rail system, which is mounted on the floor using suitable supports if necessary. A bench seat and a corresponding backrest are attached to this rail system. The backrest can be pivoted in the direction of arrow 1 from its upright position until it rests on the bench seat. In the illustrated embodiment, the pivoting movement is enabled by means of curved, elongated holes provided on both sides of the backrest and pivot pins that engage in these holes and are attached to the rail system (only indicated here).

[0010] Opposite the seating arrangement, the support structure with the attached base plate can be seen. This can be pivoted from the shown upright position to a position essentially parallel to the rail system.

[0011] Arrow 2 indicates the displacement path of the support structure with the base plate between the unloaded position and the fully loaded position shown in dashed lines. The displacement occurs in a linear motion guided along the rail system. For this purpose, telescopically interlocking tubes can be provided on the rail system and the support structure, for example.

[0012] To adapt to the user's height, the distance between the seat assembly and the support structure can be adjusted using the footplate. For this purpose, locking bolts that engage in holes can be provided, for example.

[0013] Fig. Figure 2 shows the elastic bands, marked 4, for generating the restoring force. In the example shown, they are arranged on both sides of the seat assembly and the support structure for the footplate. For this purpose, suspensions 3 are provided, around which the bands can be looped.

[0014] To vary the resistance, the bands can be replaced with stronger or weaker ones as desired.

[0015] The seat back and footplate can be folded for transport. Due to this foldable design of its components and the replacement of the usual heavy weights with elastic resistance bands, the leg press is very lightweight, easily portable, and requires very little storage space when not in use.
