Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for air conditioning a building according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0002] Since ancient times, people have been trying to create an optimal solution for a pleasant indoor climate in summer and warmer climates through building air conditioning. The approaches are as old and diverse as the problem itself.

[0003] An efficient, but very costly and health-related solution is the use of air conditioning systems. While these offer a controllable and influenceable solution, they come at the expense of a truly pleasant indoor climate. Other approaches, such as shading, sophisticated ventilation systems, evaporative cooling through green roofs, or evaporative elements, have the disadvantage of low efficiency and a lack of control.

[0004] In addition, known teachings on building air temperature control are known from DE 41 03 010 A1 and DE 10 2008 009 085 B4. These known teachings also generate an air flow that—as with air conditioning systems—is often perceived as unpleasant. Further known teachings are disclosed in EP-1 619 444 A1 and US 2011 / 192393 A1.

[0005] The object of the present invention was therefore to provide a device for air conditioning a building which does not have the disadvantages mentioned above.

[0006] This object is achieved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Further embodiments of the device according to the invention are specified in further claims.

[0007] The invention relates to a device for air conditioning a building. The device according to the invention comprises: The building comprises an exterior side and an interior side, flat exterior temperature control elements that at least partially cover the exterior of the building, wherein the exterior temperature control elements (5) are adjustable to a predeterminable temperature value and wherein the exterior temperature control elements (5) are arranged at a distance from the exterior of the building, so that a first intermediate space (18) is created between the exterior of the building and the exterior temperature control element (5). The device according to the invention is characterized in that the first intermediate space is self-contained and in that a condensate collection system is provided to drain away condensate formed on the exterior temperature control element (5) in the first intermediate space (18).

[0008] In contrast to known air conditioning systems, the device according to the invention prevents warm air from entering the building, which, when using air conditioning systems, would have to be expelled from the building again at high energy consumption, thereby further increasing the outside temperature around the building. The use of the device according to the invention prevents the walls and roofs of buildings from heating up, and this heat from penetrating the interior of the building over a very long period of time and radiating outwards. This creates a pleasant indoor climate within the building, while at the same time, the lack of heat radiation to the outside also maintains a more pleasant climate around the building. This reduces the higher temperatures in inner cities compared to the outer districts.

[0009] A variant of the device according to the invention consists in that flat internal temperature control elements at least partially cover an inside of the building and that the internal temperature control elements can be adjusted to a predeterminable temperature value.

[0010] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that at least one temperature control unit and a distribution system are provided which is operatively connected to at least one temperature control element and the at least one temperature control unit, and in that a temperature control medium is present in the distribution system with which the predetermined temperature value in the at least one temperature control element can be set.

[0011] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the temperature control medium has at least one of the following properties: liquid; at least part consists of water; freezing point below 0° Celsius, preferably below 5° Celsius; gaseous; at least part consists of air.

[0012] In particular, the use of a low-temperature tempering medium—e.g., in a temperature range of 4°C to 5°C—can significantly increase efficiency, and heat absorption can be regulated by controlling the flow rate of the tempering medium. Using the fluid, warmed to 17°C to 18°C by the outside temperature, as ceiling or wall cooling in the interior further reduces the interior temperature, which is influenced by internal heat sources.

[0013] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the tempering elements cover at least 50%, preferably at least 80% of the outside or the inside.

[0014] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the inner tempering elements are arranged at a distance from the inside of the building, so that a second intermediate space is created between the inside of the building and the inner tempering element.

[0015] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that a climate envelope surrounds the outside of the building with the exception of windows and doors, wherein the external temperature control elements are integrated into the climate envelope.

[0016] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in the provision of a corrosion-resistant metal layer on the surface of the temperature control elements facing the building.

[0017] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the tempering elements consist of a film through which the tempering medium can be conveyed on multiple paths from an inlet opening to an outlet opening.

[0018] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that there is an insulating layer which covers at least the outer tempering elements on their outside, wherein the insulating layer is preferably covered from the outside with a corrosion-resistant cover.

[0019] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the corrosion-resistant metal layer has a surface-enlarging structure on the surface of the temperature control elements facing the building.

[0020] Further embodiments of the device according to the invention consist in that the tempering medium released by a tempering unit first flows through outer tempering units and then inner tempering units.

[0021] It is expressly pointed out that the above-mentioned embodiments or combined embodiments may be combined as long as the combination falls within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims and the combination does not lead to a contradiction.

[0022] Embodiments of the present invention are explained in more detail below with reference to figures. Fig. 1 shows a section through an area of a building equipped with an inventive device for air conditioning, with two details A and B being shown enlarged, Fig. 2 shows a plan view of a temperature control element according to the invention with inlet and outlet openings for temperature control medium, and Fig. 3 shows a section through a temperature control element integrated in an insulation element according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0023] Fig. 1 shows a section through an area of a building 20 with a roof structure 23 and a facade 22. According to the invention, a supporting structure 2 is provided on the outside of the building - i.e. on the roof structure 23 or on the facade 22 - which supporting structure allows a spaced-apart mounting of an external temperature control element 5, wherein said element is flat and at least partially covers the outside of the building 20. Between the external temperature control unit 5 and the outer surface of the facade 22 or the roof structure 23, the spaced-apart mounting creates an intermediate space 18, which is also referred to below as the first intermediate space 18. So that the first intermediate space 18 is self-contained, the external temperature control elements 5 form an actual climate envelope 1, which can in particular encompass the entire building 20. This makes it possible to keep the temperature of the building 20, including the facade 22 and deck structure 23, at a predetermined temperature value.

[0024] The major advantage achieved by the present invention is illustrated by a simple calculation example: Assuming a building footprint of 100x100m and a building height of 8 meters, the resulting building volume is 80,000m³. With conventional building air conditioning, this building volume of 80,000m³ must be actively cooled. However, if only the intermediate space is to be cooled, as envisaged by the invention, and assuming that - again with identical building dimensions - the intermediate space defined above has a depth of 5cm, the present invention only results in a volume to be cooled of approximately 700m³, which is obviously considerably smaller than with conventional building air conditioning. The potential savings in energy costs for air conditioning according to the present invention are correspondingly large.

[0025] In a further embodiment of the device according to the invention, an inner temperature control element 16, 17 is additionally provided, which is again flat and at least partially covers the interior of the building 20. A second intermediate space 19 is created between the inner temperature control unit 16, 17 and the interior surface of the building 20 by means of a spaced-apart mounting by means of the supporting structure 2.

[0026] To ensure that the second intermediate space 19 is also self-contained, the inner temperature control elements 5 complete the climate envelope 1 around the building structure. This makes it possible to maintain the temperature of the entire building 20, including the facade 22 and roof structure 23, at a predetermined temperature. This creates the conditions for optimal room climate control, as the temperature of a temperature control medium 11 is set to a predetermined value, for example, using a temperature control unit 12. The temperature control medium 11 is then passed through the outer temperature control elements 5, with a distribution system 10, 13 connected to the temperature control elements 5 being provided for this purpose. After leaving an outer tempering element 5, the tempering medium 11 is either returned to the tempering unit 12 via the distribution system 10, 13 or the tempering medium 11 is first fed to the inner tempering elements 16, 17.

[0027] The temperature control medium 11 has specific requirements depending on the respective application. In particular, the temperature control medium 11 has at least one of the following properties: liquid; at least part consists of water; freezing point below 0° Celsius, preferably below 5° Celsius; gaseous; at least part consists of air.

[0028] In Fig. 1 The two details A and B are each shown enlarged. This illustrates possible implementations of the distribution system in a corner area of a building 20 (Detail A) or in a transition area from an external temperature control element 5 to an internal temperature control element 16, 17 (Detail B).

[0029] Finally, there are several options for setting the temperature control medium 11 to a specified value. Fig. 1 A possibility is shown in which filtered groundwater is used as the temperature control medium 11. Since groundwater generally has a lower temperature, energy expenditure for cooling is lower, as pre-cooling has already taken place. The temperature control unit 12 is only required if the temperature of the groundwater proves to be too high for cooling. Only then is cooling of the temperature control medium 11 necessary with a conventional air conditioning unit.

[0030] In a specific application, it was shown that the temperature control medium 11 must be cooled to a temperature of 4°C to 5°C. The temperature control medium 11, distributed via the distribution system 10, 13 and passed through the outer temperature control elements 5, then warmed to a temperature of 17°C to 18°C. The temperature control medium 11 in this temperature range was ideally suited for direct introduction into the inner temperature control elements 16, 17 and subsequent return to the temperature control unit or for return to the groundwater. This made it possible to create pleasant climatic conditions in the interior 14.

[0031] In a further embodiment of the present invention, instead of or in addition to regulating the temperature of the tempering medium 11, the climatic conditions in the interior 14 are adjusted via the flow rate of the tempering medium 11. For this purpose, a control unit 21 is provided, which comprises a controllable pump for the tempering medium 11.

[0032] As already explained, Fig. 1 a gap on both the outside and inside of the building 20. A gap between building components and the temperature control elements is particularly indicated when the temperature control medium 11, and consequently also the surfaces of the temperature control elements, are cooled significantly, as is the case in the example mentioned above. Thus, at high temperature differences, condensation water will deposit on the surfaces of the temperature control elements, which can lead to moisture damage to the building 20 or to the climate envelope 1. According to the invention, the outer temperature control elements 5 are arranged at a distance from the building exterior, so that a first gap 18 is created between the building exterior and the outer temperature control element.

[0033] According to the present invention, it is therefore proposed to specifically remove condensation water that forms on temperature control elements. Accordingly, a collection system for condensation water is provided (in Fig. 1 not shown), which ensures that no damage can occur to building 20.

[0034] Fig. 2 shows a plan view of a variant embodiment of a temperature control element 5 according to the invention. These consist of two foils with spot welds that hold the two foils together. The temperature control medium 11, which enters the temperature control element 5 through an inlet opening 24, is transported through the welds along various paths 7 to an outlet opening 25. Consequently, the temperature control medium 11 has access to a plurality of paths from the inlet opening 24 to the outlet opening 25, thus achieving an optimal temperature distribution in the temperature control element 5.

[0035] Fig. 3 shows a section through a Fig. 2 The section plane CC indicated shows a view through a temperature control element 5, where, in addition to the actual temperature control element 5, further layers are also visible. The temperature control element 5 is integrated into an insulating layer 8, which is covered on the outside with a corrosion-resistant cover 9, which protects the underlying components from external influences such as water, snow, UV radiation, or the like.

[0036] On the opposite side of the insulation layer 8, a corrosion-resistant metal layer 3 is provided, which prevents the penetration of condensation water into the insulation layer 8. In one embodiment of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 3shown, adjacent to the corrosion-resistant metal layer 3, a surface-enlarging structure 4 can be seen, which promotes the flow of heat or cold from the temperature control element 5 to the environment - in particular into the intermediate space.
