AI Technical Summary
Existing washbasin drain technologies lack a robust and simple structure that effectively utilizes magnetic forces for adjustment while maintaining the angular relationship between the cover element and the drain pipe, leading to potential tilting issues and inefficiencies in water drainage.
A washbasin drain design featuring a first external magnet outside the drain pipe interacting with a second magnet inside, utilizing a sloping section to enable linear movement of the cover element without tilting, with a pivotable actuating element ensuring the magnetic forces maintain the angular relationship and allow for complete opening without excessive force-induced damage.
The design provides a stable and efficient drainage system with the cover element moving linearly along the sloping section, ensuring no tilting occurs within the magnetic force range, allowing for easy cleaning and maintaining alignment for optimal water flow, and returning to its defined position after excessive forces dissipate.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a wash basin drain according to the preamble of claim 1. A wash basin drain having the features of the preamble of claim 1 is shown in document WO 2012 / 174163 A2.
[0002] A generic drain fitting is known, for example, from DE 10 2016 106 183 B4. The known drain fitting, i.e., drain fitting, comprises a cover element arranged in the region of a drain opening. Furthermore, the known drain fitting comprises a magnetic holding mechanism designed to position the cover element relative to a drain element. In the case of DE 10 2016 106 183 B4, the cover element is held in an open position by magnetic force against its weight. In the open position, the cover element is pressed horizontally against a stop of the drain element.
[0003] Another drain fitting for a washbasin that operates with a permanent magnet is known from KR 10 2012 0 087 579 A. In this case, a ring-shaped permanent magnet can be moved vertically by means of a manually pivoting lever.
[0004] Various wash basin drains with electromagnetic actuators are disclosed, for example, in the documents DE 10 2017 102 069 A1 and DE 10 2013 018 470 A1.
[0005] DE 20 2016 001 893 U1 describes a drain plug for sanitary applications with a magnetic extraction mechanism. This drain plug is made of various materials, with the plug head made of magnetizable iron with a chrome coating. A pot magnet is provided for extracting the plug.
[0006] Drain fittings primarily intended for use in showers are described, for example, in documents DE 10 2017 000 572 B3 and DE 10 2010 047 647 B4.
[0007] In both cases, the end of a rod, which is connected to a cover plate, rests against an inclined surface, with the rod being held in place by magnetic forces. The invention is based on the object of providing a robust and simple sink drain that is more advanced than the cited prior art and uses magnetic forces for adjustment.
[0008] This object is achieved according to the invention by a wash basin drain with the features of claim 1. The wash basin drain comprises, in a basic concept known per se, a first outer magnet provided for transmitting actuating forces, which is arranged outside a drain pipe and interacts with a second magnet arranged inside the drain pipe and rigidly connected to a cover element, wherein the center axis of the cover element is spaced parallel from the center axis of the drain pipe at least in a lower section of the drain pipe when installed, both in the fully open and in the closed state.
[0009] The lower section of the drain pipe is followed by a middle section of the drain pipe, which merges into a tubular section, which is the upper section of the drain pipe when installed. An inclined section is formed in the middle section, which separates the two attracting magnets from each other and is arranged between the magnets. The first outer magnet is displaceable by a pivotable actuating element. According to the invention, the outer magnet interacts with the second magnet, which can be displaced linearly along the inclined section, which provides a sliding surface.
[0010] As a result of the interaction of the first outer magnet with the second magnet, when the first outer magnet is displaced, the second magnet is displaced linearly along the inclined section.
[0011] The inclined section, along which the second magnet and thus the entire cover element can be moved, fulfills multiple functions: Firstly, the inclined section provides a sliding surface that enables linear movement of the second magnet and thus also of the cover element. Secondly, the inclined surface ensures that the angular relationship between this surface and thus the entire drain pipe on the one hand, and the second magnet and the cover element on the other hand, remains unchanged in every setting of the sink drain. This means that no tilting movements of the cover element occur as long as no excessive forces acting on it exceed the magnetic forces act on it.Should such excessive forces nevertheless occur, the cover element can be displaced from its defined position, whereby this does not entail any destruction and the cover element returns to its defined position once the so-called excessive forces have ceased.
[0012] In embodiments in which the magnet is fixedly connected to the pivotable actuating element, it can move along a circular arc. Alternatively, the outer magnet can be deflected relative to the pivotable actuating element, in particular displaceable within the pivotable actuating element, such that it can be displaced along a straight path on the inclined section while maintaining a constant distance from the second magnet.
[0013] The distance between the parallel central axes of the cover element on the one hand and the lower section of the drain pipe on the other hand is, according to various possible embodiments, at least 25% and at most 75% of the diameter of the lower section of the drain pipe.
[0014] The actuating element is preferably designed as a lever element pivotable on the drain pipe, wherein it has a lever arm and a ring firmly connected to the lever arm and encompassing the drain pipe, on which ring the outer magnet is held on the side of the ring facing away from the lever arm.
[0015] The second magnet, located within the drain pipe, can be located on a rod-shaped magnet holder, which is arranged in a plug connected to the cover element. The second magnet is fixed between a base of the magnet holder and a base of the plug. The magnet holder and the plug can have contours to prevent rotation.
[0016] According to an advantageous development, which is characterized by a relatively stable mounting of the cover element even in its fully open state, a lateral contact of the plug against a vertical wall section of the drain pipe is provided when the cover element is raised to its maximum and thus fully open. A particular advantage in all embodiments is the fact that the plug can be arranged in a completely free flow cross-section of the drain pipe, with the exception of this plug.
[0017] The components drain pipe, pivoting actuating element, rod-shaped magnet holder and plug can be made of any material, in particular plastic, as long as the intended interaction between the magnets is ensured.
[0018] An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing. In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows a sink drain in perspective view, Fig. 2 shows a drain pipe of the sink drain, Fig. 3 shows an actuating element of the sink drain, Fig. 4 shows a magnet holder of the sink drain, Fig. 5 shows a plug of the sink drain intended for inserting the magnet holder and to be connected to a cover, i.e. cover element, Fig. 6 shows the sink drain in a sectional view.
[0019] A wash basin drain, designated overall by reference numeral 1, comprises a drain pipe 2 with a bent shape. A first central axis MA1 is defined in an upper straight section 3 of the drain pipe 2 and in a cover element 35 or lid 35, which is spaced parallel from a second central axis MA2 defined in a lower straight section 5 of the drain pipe 2. The distance between the central axes MA1, MA2 corresponds to more than one-third, but less than three-quarters of the inner diameter of the lower section 5, designated D5. The straight sections 3, 5 are connected to one another by a curved central section 4.
[0020] The middle section 4 forms a curved outer arch 6, which is opposite a sloping inner section 7, which is also part of the middle section 4. The inner section 7 forms a flat contact surface 8, which is of essential importance for the function of the washbasin drain 1. A vertical contact surface 39 adjoins the upper edge of the contact surface 8, which is inclined relative to the center axes MA1, MA2, which is also opposite the curved outer arch 6 and is therefore also part of the middle section 4. The contact surface 8 is opposite the center axis MA2 in cross section ( Fig. 6 ) is tilted by an angle α, which in this case is 30° ± 5°.
[0021] In the upper area of the middle section 4, on the side of the curved outer bend 6, bearing pins 9 are formed as integral components of the drain pipe 2. A lever element 14, which is generally referred to as the actuating element of the wash basin drain 1, is mounted on the bearing pin 9. The lever element 14 has a lever arm 15, to which a ring 16 is connected, which encloses the drain pipe 2. Bearing elements 17, which are fastened to the ring 16, are slipped onto the bearing pins 9. Furthermore, a magnet holder 18 is fastened to the ring 16 on the side facing away from the lever arm 15. In the exemplary embodiment, the magnet holder 18, like the bearing elements 17, has a slot which allows easy slipping onto the ring 16. A magnet 19 arranged in the magnet holder 18 is referred to as the outer or first magnet.
[0022] The Figure 6shows the washbasin drain 1 mounted on a washbasin 30. A seal 33 is inserted between a flange 10, which closes off the upper section 3, and the underside of the washbasin 30. A groove in the flange 10 provided for this purpose is designated 11. An internal thread 12 of the upper section 3 enables connection to a pipe section 32, which is arranged in a drain opening 31 of the washbasin 30. At the upper, funnel-shaped end of the pipe section 32, this is sealed off from the washbasin 30 by means of a seal 34. A seal 36 serves to seal between a cover 35 of the washbasin drain 1 and the pipe section 32. In the arrangement according to Figure 6 is the cover 35, which is in Figure 1is not visible, slightly lifted from the pipe section 32, i.e. the washbasin drain 1 is slightly opened. On the lower straight section 5 there is an external thread 13, which enables connection to another pipe section, not shown, in a manner known per se.
[0023] The magnet 19, which is located outside the drain pipe 2, interacts through attractive magnetic forces with a second magnet 25, which is arranged inside the drain pipe 2. The magnet 25 is held by means of a magnet holder 20, which is Figure 4is shown in isolation. The magnet holder 20 has a head designated 21, on the circumference of which is a slot 37. A shaft 22 of the magnet holder 20 adjoins the head 21. Ribs 23 can be seen in a section of the magnet holder 20 located below the shaft 22. The magnet holder 20 is closed at its lower end by a base 24, on which the magnet 25 is located.
[0024] The entire magnet holder 20 including the magnet 25 is inserted into a plug 26, which is supplied as a single part in Figure 5is shown. In the case of the plug 26, the upper end is designed as a funnel-shaped head part 27, which has a web 38 on its inner circumferential surface, which represents the mating contour to the slot 37. In the assembled state, this creates a defined angular relationship between the magnet holder 20 and the plug 26 and thus also between the second magnet 25 and the plug 26. A sleeve-shaped section 28 of the plug 26 adjoins the funnel-shaped head part 27. The base of the plug 26, designated 29, has an inclined end surface 40, which is provided for contacting the contact surface 8 of the drain pipe 2. During normal operation, the plug 26 contacts the drain pipe 2 exclusively at the contact surface 8, as long as the sink drain 1 is not fully open. The complete opening of the sink drain 1 means that the sleeve-shaped section 28 strikes the vertical contact surface 39. From this position and from any other position, as long as the cover 35 is not sealingly resting on the pipe section 32, the assembly comprising the magnet holder 20, plug 26, and inner magnet 25 can be displaced downward by forces acting on the cover 35 from the outside, counter to the forces acting between the magnets 19, 25. If the external forces are removed, the inner magnet 25, and thus also the cover 35, are pulled back to their previous position. Furthermore, changes in the position of the cover 35 are only possible by actuating the lever element 14. Due to the inclined position of the contact surface 8, raising or lowering the cover 35 inevitably results in a lateral offset of the cover 35, i.e., a change in the distance between the axes MA1, MA2.This represents a desired asymmetry at the drain opening 31, which is advantageous with regard to the drainage of water.
[0025] Cleaning the sink drain 1 is very simple if the rigid assembly comprising the cover 35, magnet holder 20, plug 26, and inner magnet 25 is removed from the pipe section 32 and the drain pipe 2. The assembly comprising the pipe section 32 and the connected drain pipe 2 has no crosspieces or similar obstacles that could promote the accumulation of dirt or hinder the removal of non-liquid wastewater components. If the assembly comprising the cover 35, magnet holder 20, plug 26, and inner magnet 25 is reinserted into the pipe section 32 and the drain pipe 2, the acting magnetic forces ensure the correct alignment between the magnets 19, 25.
