Description
[0001] The invention relates to a folding bed module for a modular folding bed system according to the preamble of patent claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a modular folding bed system and an installation arrangement.
[0002] Folding bed systems available on the market generally consist of a floor-standing body anchored to a wall and open at one front, and a bed frame that can be swung out from the body to the front via swivel fittings. The swivel fittings are supported on horizontally extending, floor-standing body side walls, meaning that the body side walls serve as abutments for the swivel fittings. Folding bed systems of this type require robustly constructed body components, as high forces and torques must be transferred from the swivel fittings, particularly via the body side walls. Furthermore, assembly and transport of such folding bed systems are complex and usually require at least two people.Furthermore, it has not yet been possible to design folding bed systems of this type in a sufficiently stable, durable design as a double bed with a mattress width of more than 160 cm or with two bed frames arranged next to each other and individually pivotable in relation to the body without a wide central gap that would disrupt sleeping or lying comfort.
[0003] DE 20 2005 002 670 U1 discloses a prefabricated folding bed module for a folding bed system of the aforementioned type. The folding bed module is designed such that it is incorporated as a prefabricated module into the body of the folding bed system and screwed to the body. In this case, the bed frame is encompassed in the area of the head end by a fixed base frame that is screwed to the body. Plate-shaped, vertically upright side walls of the base frame serve as abutments for pivot fittings, via which the bed frame can be pivoted relative to the body. To compensate for the weight of the bed frame acting when the bed frame is pivoted up from a vertically extended use position to a horizontally extended non-use position, springs are provided as force accumulators between the side walls of the base frame and the bed frame.Nevertheless, to adequately absorb the forces and torques acting when the bed frame is pivoted and when lying on it, the side walls of the base frame must be very stable and solid, and they must be screwed to the carcass at the same height and preferably above the pivot fittings, or to each other. Consequently, designing the folding bed system as a double bed suitable for two people is problematic. While it is fundamentally possible to integrate two of these folding bed modules side by side into the carcass, this is impractical in practice, as a wide central gap is created between the bed frames and the mattresses held on them due to the solid side walls of the base frames extending above the base fittings. It is also not possible to offer the folding bed module with sufficient stability with a bed frame with a width of more than 160 cm, as this would result in the problem of deflection of the bed frame or base frame, which would cause noise or impair functionality.
[0004] The publications RU 198 551 U1, RU 198 778 U1, KR 2001 0019692 A, and CN202 553 073 U each disclose a folding bed module with a bed frame pivotably mounted on a floor-standing base frame via pivoting fittings and encompassed by the same in the area of a head end. The elements of the base frame supporting the bed frame in the area of the head end are arranged outside the longitudinal beams of the bed frame with respect to a horizontal width direction.
[0005] From US 2017 / 007028 A1, a folding bed module of the aforementioned type is known, wherein the base frame, which is made of profiled beams, has console supports which are arranged between the console supports of the bed frame with respect to the width direction.
[0006] WO 2009 / 127382 A1 discloses a folding bed module with a floor-standing base frame, a pivotably mounted bed frame, and a front unit that can be used as a seat when the bed frame is not in use. The base frame incorporates a kinematic mechanism for lowering an upholstered frame of the front unit.
[0007] There is therefore a market demand for folding bed systems or a freestanding folding bed module for this purpose, in which the swivel fittings are not visible when the bed frame is swung out, or in which the folding bed system can be designed as a double bed suitable for two people with a total width of more than 160 cm and a small central gap, or in which a mattress more than 160 cm wide can be placed. There is also a desire to be able to offer folding bed systems that do not require a body or body side walls as a mechanical support element for the swivel fittings.
[0008] The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved, alternative embodiment for a modular folding bed system or for a folding bed module of the generic type with high stability. Furthermore, this object is achieved by an installation arrangement according to the invention.
[0009] To achieve this object, the invention has the features of patent claim 1.
[0010] The particular advantage of the invention is that compact, cost-effective swivel fittings can be used to pivot the bed frame, with the swivel fittings being invisible when the bed frame is in use. Furthermore, solid side walls extending above the swivel axis for the base frame can be dispensed with, and thin side panels with a low wall thickness can be used for the base frame. This is made possible by the fact that the swivel fittings are not supported by the side panels, but rather by the console supports positioned between the longitudinal beams of the bed frame in relation to the width direction. The base frame with the console supports thus forms a self-supporting and load-bearing unit for the bed frame. When not in use, the bed frame is fully supported by the console supports, and when in use, it is supported by the console supports of the base frame, at least in the headboard area. This advantageously results in a narrow width for the folding bed module, with the folding bed module being wider than the bed frame by a maximum of one wall thickness of the two side panels of the base frame.
[0011] The console supports of the base frame are preferably designed as vertically extending angle console supports. The console supports have a T-shaped or L-shaped profile with a bent stiffening leg facing inward, i.e., toward the other console support of the base frame, or with an inward-facing stiffening rib. This provides the console supports with improved mechanical stability, particularly against transverse force loads in the width direction.
[0012] Alternatively, while maintaining the inventive idea, it is conceivable that the console supports of the base frame are connected to one another via a support element extending in the width direction, for example a support plate, a support strut or a support frame or the like, or that the console supports and the support element are manufactured in one piece.
[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, an upwardly open recess is provided at each upper end of the console supports facing away from the floor, into which a bearing pin of the pivot fittings is received. This advantageously makes it possible to suspend the bed frame with the mounted bearing pins into the recesses of the console supports and then secure them with a bolt lock. This allows the base frame and the bed frame to be provided as prefabricated, separately and compactly packaged modular units, which greatly simplifies the assembly and transport of the folding bed module according to the invention.
[0014] According to the invention, the base frame has two side panels that are aligned opposite one another in the width direction and extend flatly in a horizontal longitudinal direction oriented perpendicular to the width direction. The console supports are arranged between the side panels in the width direction. Furthermore, the console supports project vertically beyond the side panels such that the pivot fittings are arranged above the side panels. When the bed frame is not in use, the side panels of the base frame are thus arranged below the bed frame and cannot collide with mattresses placed on them or impair sleeping comfort.
[0015] The side panels of the base frame are bent inward at a right angle to the rear side opposite the front and the floor, i.e., toward the opposite side panel of the base frame. This gives the base frame increased mechanical stability and improved stability. Furthermore, the bent legs of the side panels serve as connecting sections for additional components, such as non-slip frame feet, which can be used to support the base frame on the floor. The side panels can also be constructed in multiple parts, with the individual sheet metal components welded or mechanically joined together.
[0016] According to the invention, the base frame of the folding bed module has two two-leg corner brackets, each of which is attached to the connecting portions of one of the side panels, so that the side panels and the corner brackets each form an angle bracket. A first leg of the corner bracket extends vertically and is attached at the rear to a first connecting portion of a side panel. A second leg of the corner bracket extends horizontally or parallel to the floor and is attached at the bottom to a second connecting portion of the side panels. The corner brackets are connected to one another via a cross-connecting element extending longitudinally in the width direction, in particular a cross-connecting support, a cross-connecting frame, or a cross-connecting panel. The bracket supports and the cross-connecting element are preferably each supported on or mounted on the second legs of the corner brackets facing the floor.
[0017] The components of the base frame are preferably made of metal and are mechanically joined together or materially connected and preferably welded together.
[0018] The cross-connecting element connecting the side panels can be manufactured in different lengths to offer folding bed modules according to the invention in different widths, in particular in standard widths intended for beds, whereby the side panels, the console supports and the corner angles of the base frame can be used unchanged for this purpose and can thus be manufactured as cost-effective identical components.
[0019] According to a further development of the invention, at least one and preferably two gas pressure springs are provided. The gas pressure spring is pivotally mounted with a first end on the console support of the base frame and with an opposite second end, in relation to the front in the use position, in front of the console support on the longitudinal support of the bed frame. The gas pressure spring generates a thrust force that assists the bed frame in pivoting upwards when moving from the use position to the non-use position and dampens the weight of the bed frame when pivoting the bed frame out from the non-use position to the use position. A gas pressure spring generally has a long service life and is maintenance-free and generally has an advantageous flat, almost linear spring characteristic curve for the thrust force over the stroke. The gas spring is preferably positioned between the bed frame and the base frame in such a way that a piston of the gas spring is held below a piston rod of the gas spring guided therein. The arrangement of the gas springs in front of the console supports, i.e., in front of the head end of the bed frame, enables a particularly compact design of the folding bed module.
[0020] The underside of the bed frame is preferably covered by a one-piece or multi-piece front panel attached to the bed frame. The front panel preferably consists of one or more panels. To facilitate pivoting the bed frame, the front panel preferably has two recessed handles.
[0021] According to a further development of the invention, at least one foot, which can be pivoted outward toward the front in the non-use position, is mounted on the bed frame in the area of the foot end to support the foot end of the bed frame in the use position. In the use position of the bed frame, the foot extends substantially vertically and rests on the floor. Accordingly, in the use position, the bed frame is supported on the console supports of the base frame and the at least one foot.
[0022] According to the invention, various embodiments for the foot are conceivable. In addition to the essential support function for the foot end of the bed frame in the use position, the foot can also serve to provide a gripping element for the user when pivoting the bed frame.
[0023] In this regard, according to a further development of the invention, the foot is designed as a pendulum foot that can be rotated by 90° about a foot axis, wherein in the position of use of the bed frame, rotation of the pendulum foot about the foot axis is blocked.
[0024] The rotation lock in the use position of the bed frame is preferably implemented such that the pendulum foot has two lugs of different lengths on the top of the foot, between which a slot-shaped locking recess is provided. The pendulum foot is held on a base plate which has a U-shaped angle structure with a pocket and a web. The pendulum foot is balanced such that when the bed frame is in the use position, the web of the angle structure automatically engages in the locking recess of the pendulum foot. The shorter first lug on the top of the pendulum foot is received in the pocket of the angle structure. The longer second lug is attached to the web of the angle structure from the outside. In this respect, the web of the angle structure serves as a stop element for the pendulum foot. A flat bottom of the pendulum foot, opposite the top of the pendulum foot, rests flat on the floor in the use position.
[0025] According to an alternative development of the invention, the foot is designed as a swivel foot that can be pivoted through 180°. The swivel foot can be pivoted from a first swivel end position, in which the swivel foot projects beyond the top of the bed frame, to a second swivel end position, in which the swivel foot projects beyond the bottom of the bed frame opposite the top of the frame and facing the floor in the use position, and back again. The first swivel end position forms a preferred position of the swivel foot for the non-use position of the bed frame, and the second swivel end position forms a preferred position of the swivel foot for the use position of the bed frame.
[0026] The swivel foot preferably has a U-shaped configuration, with its foot ends being held on the cross member of the bed frame via flat hinges so that they can be swivelled through 180°.
[0027] According to an alternative embodiment of the folding bed module according to the invention, the foot can also be designed as a plate-shaped panel that can be pivoted outward from the underside of the bed frame toward the front as part of the front paneling for the underside of the bed frame. When the bed frame is not in use, the foot is vertically oriented and held flush or recessed with the other panels of the front paneling.
[0028] According to a further development of the invention, when the bed frame is not in use, the side panels of the base frame extend beyond the underside of the bed frame towards the front, and a piece of front furniture is arranged in front of the underside of the bed frame in relation to the front. The piece of front furniture has a back cushion which, when the bed frame is not in use, is placed in front of the front panel in relation to the front, and an upholstered frame with a seat cushion held above the side panels. The back cushion is either loosely placed on the upholstered frame or secured to the bed frame in such a way that the back cushion is held between the side panels of the base frame when the bed frame is in use. The loose back cushion must be set aside for pivoting the bed frame from the non-use to the use position. The fixed back cushion preferably has one or more fastening angles on a back of the cushion facing the front panel, each of which is passed through an opening slot in the front panel and is held or screwed to the bed frame, preferably to an additional cross member connecting the longitudinal members and extending longitudinally in the width direction.
[0029] According to a further development of the invention, the upholstered frame of the front-mounted piece of furniture is positively guided during the movement of the bed frame via an adjustment mechanism provided between the side panels of the base frame and connected to the bed frame. When the bed frame is moved from the non-use position to the use position, the upholstered frame is forcibly or automatically pivoted downwards toward the front and the floor. In the use position of the bed frame, the upholstered frame is positioned at a height below the underside of the bed frame and is preferably supported on the floor by frame feet.
[0030] The adjustment kinematics are arranged between the side panels of the base frame. They comprise a rod assembly formed synchronously on each inner side of the side panels facing the other side panel of the base frame, each with a pivot lever, each with two control levers, each of which is rotatably mounted on the inner side of one of the side panels with a lower end facing the floor, preferably via a rail, and each of which is rotatably connected to a seat support with an upper end opposite the lower end to accommodate the upholstered frame. A frame foot is held or formed on each of the seat supports. When the bed frame is in the use position and the upholstered frame is pivoted down to the floor, this frame foot rests on the floor and serves to support the upholstered frame. The first control levers of the rods are each connected to a first end of the pivot lever, with the pivot levers each having a second end passed through a slot-shaped opening provided in the longitudinal beams of the bed frame and connected to the longitudinal beams. In the area of the second ends passed through the opening in the longitudinal beams, the pivot levers are each bent upwards by approximately 90° relative to the remaining sections of the pivot levers. The two rods, which are held in alignment with one another, are connected to one another via a synchronizing strut held between the two first control levers in the width direction, so that they can be pivoted synchronously. A stop strut held between the side plates in the width direction stabilizes the base frame in the area of the adjustment kinematics and serves as a stop element or end point for the adjustment kinematics when the upholstered frame is pivoted upwards. The pivot levers are cranked upwards at the level of the stop strut so that they do not collide with the stop strut when the upholstered frame is pivoted.
[0031] According to a further development of the invention, the adjustment kinematics provides a tension spring which is tensioned in the use position of the bed frame. The tension spring is released when the upholstered frame is pivoted up or when the bed frame is moved from the use to the non-use position. The tension spring is preferably held between the control levers of the adjustment kinematics. When the upholstered frame is folded up, the tension spring supports the straightening of the control levers of the seat frame of the adjustment kinematics and thus works in conjunction with the gas pressure springs to facilitate operating comfort when pivoting the bed frame. The base frame preferably has two tension springs, each of which is held between the control levers of the rods of the adjustment kinematics.
[0032] According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the upholstered frame of the front-mounted piece of furniture is held on the base frame via a frame pivot fitting with a frame pivot axis running in the width direction and can be pivoted manually by 180° in such a way that the upholstered frame is oriented horizontally in the non-use position of the bed frame and is held above the side panels and that the upholstered frame is pivoted out in front of the base frame towards the front to form the use position of the bed frame and is arranged on the floor supported on frame feet.
[0033] According to a further development of the invention, a flat front panel, which extends longitudinally in the width direction, is pivotably mounted at one end of the side panels facing the front. The front panel is oriented vertically when the bed frame is not in use and is automatically pivoted when the bed frame is pivoted such that the front panel is pivoted downwards towards the front when the bed frame is pivoted from the non-use position into the use position. The front panel is connected to the adjustment kinematics for the upholstered frame or to the bed frame as part of the front paneling via at least one connecting rod pivotally mounted at one end. As a pivotable part of the front paneling, the front panel is preferably held to the console supports of the base frame via a folding mechanism or spring-loaded mechanism. The folding mechanism preferably has two rocker levers, which are connected at the end via mounting brackets to the front panel and to a connecting tab of the console supports.
[0034] To achieve this object, the invention has the features of patent claim 12. Accordingly, an installation arrangement according to the invention comprises at least one folding bed module according to the invention, a horizontally extending floor, and a vertically extending wall projecting from the floor. The base frame of the folding bed module is supported on the floor and attached to the wall with a rear side opposite the front side and anchored in the floor or preferably in the wall.
[0035] The particular advantage of the invention is that the base frame of the folding bed module is secured in position by anchoring it to the wall or floor, so that the bed frame held thereto can be pivoted safely and without the risk of tipping over. In terms of mechanical stability, a body enclosing the folding bed module and, in particular, body side walls acting as abutments for the pivot fittings and thus being stable and solid can be completely dispensed with. This is possible because the folding bed module forms a self-standing and load-bearing modular unit, with the bed frame being pivotably mounted on the floor-standing base frame anchored to the wall or floor. In the non-use position, the bed frame extends vertically and is fully supported on the console supports of the base frame; in the use position, the bed frame extends horizontally and is pivoted out towards the front and supported on the console supports of the base frame in the region of the head end facing the wall. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, in the non-use position, the bed frame of the at least one folding bed module is placed in the region of the foot end against a stop element held in front of or on the wall, in particular a stop frame, or a foot held on the bed frame is designed as a pivoting foot and is moved into the first pivoting end position and placed against the wall or a stop plate held on the wall. The pivoting foot is understood to mean the pivoting foot introduced in patent claim 7.The stop element thus forms a defined pivot stop for the bed frame in the non-use position and ensures that the bed frame assumes a defined and preferably horizontal or perpendicular to the floor or slightly inclined towards the wall. The center of gravity of the bed frame is thus positioned such that the bed frame is not inclined to unintentionally pivot from the non-use position towards the front. The bed frame is preferably attached to the stop element via buffers, in particular rubber buffers or magnetic buffers, held on the cross strut defining the upper end of the bed frame in the non-use position. Alternatively, the buffer can be held on the stop element.
[0036] The stop element can be designed as an open or air-permeable stop frame, whereby the bed frame and any mattress or bedding placed on it are advantageously ventilated from above. The stop frame is preferably mounted directly on the wall or supported between the add-on components of the folding bed system, which are anchored in the wall and connected to the side panels of the base frame. Alternatively, the bed frame is defined in the non-use position by the pivoting foot attached to the stop plate and is preferably aligned perpendicular to the floor.
[0037] In order to simplify the pivoting of the bed frame, recessed grips can be provided in the front panel or grip elements can be passed through openings in the front panel and projecting from the front panel or can be pivoted out and preferably connected or screwed to the longitudinal beams of the bed frame.
[0038] To achieve this object, the invention has the features of patent claim 14. Accordingly, a modular folding bed system comprises at least two folding bed modules according to the invention, wherein the base frames of the folding bed modules are positioned next to one another in relation to the width direction, and side panels facing an adjacent folding bed module are each placed against one another and connected to one another. The bed frames of the folding bed modules are either individually pivotable or connected to one another and thus pivotable together.
[0039] The particular advantage of the invention is that the folding bed system can be divided into several modular units and is therefore compactly packaged and modularly expandable. The independently pivoting folding bed modules make it possible to design the folding bed system according to the invention as a double bed designed for two people. For this purpose, the base frames of the folding bed modules are positioned next to one another in the width direction, with side panels facing an adjacent folding bed module being placed against one another and connected to one another, and the bed frames of the folding bed modules being designed to be individually pivotable or connected to one another and pivotable together. The modular design of the folding bed system with two floor-standing folding bed modules arranged next to one another results in high mechanical stability, as the bed frames are supported on a total of four console supports or two base frames.Since the console beams supporting the bed frame are arranged between the longitudinal beams of the bed frame in relation to the width direction, the side panels of the base frame that encompass the bed frame can be designed as slender, thin sheet metal components. This advantageously creates only a small central gap between mattresses placed on the bed frames. If the bed frames are connected to each other, they are designed as a single, pivoting unit and can also accommodate a mattress designed for two people, for example, with a width of 140 cm to 200 cm.
[0040] In principle, the folding bed system according to the invention can also comprise three or more folding bed modules, preferably arranged side by side. Thus, the folding bed system can provide a convertible bed for three or more people or with a bed surface with a width of more than 200 cm.
[0041] The modular folding bed system according to the invention is modularly expandable and can be designed in a wide variety of variants or as a central component of an individually assembled system furniture or furniture line.
[0042] According to a further development of the invention, a side wall or a piece of add-on furniture, in particular a shelf, or an armrest or a piece of seating, is mounted on exposed outer surfaces of the side panels of the base frame, i.e., those not connected to a side panel of an adjacent folding bed module. As already mentioned, these lateral add-on components are not required for the mechanical stability of the folding bed modules and serve as the lateral cladding of the folding bed modules or as a modular extension of the folding bed system according to the invention.
[0043] The side add-on components can in turn be connected to another add-on component, such as a wall cupboard, wall shelf or the like, on a side opposite the folding bed module.
[0044] Since the modular folding bed modules according to the invention and the add-on components can each be provided individually packaged or pre-assembled, transport and assembly of the folding bed system according to the invention are greatly simplified.
[0045] The wall can be covered by a back wall consisting of one or more back wall panels. The back wall panels are preferably held by the stop element or supported by an insert profile. The back wall panels can be upholstered and covered with fabric or leather, thus forming a headrest for leaning against when the bed frame is in use.
[0046] Further advantages, features, and details of the invention can be derived from the further subclaims and the following description. Features mentioned therein may be essential to the invention individually or in any combination. Features and details of the folding bed module according to the invention described in accordance with the invention naturally also apply in connection with the modular folding bed system according to the invention or the installation arrangement according to the invention, and vice versa. [0048] The folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention forms a prefabricated and independently functioning modular unit for the modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention and can be set up independently on a floor. The folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 comprises a floor-standing base frame 5, 5.1, 5.2 and a bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2 pivotably mounted thereon via pivot fittings 11, which is encompassed by the base frame 5, 5.1, 5.2 in the region of a head end 12. The bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2 can be pivoted outward toward a front side 29 from a non-use position, in which the bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2 extends vertically, into a use position, in which the bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2 extends in a horizontal longitudinal direction L, and back again.
[0049] According to an installation arrangement according to the invention, the base frames 5, 5.1, 5.2 of the folding bed modules 3, 3.1, 3.2 are each supported on the floor and attached to a wall projecting vertically from the floor with a rear side opposite the front side 29, and the base frame 5, 5.1, 5.2 is anchored in the floor or in the wall. The base frame 5, 5.1, 5.2 is thus stationary and secured in position for pivoting the bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2. Tipping (or overturning) of the folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 when pivoting the bed frame 6, 6.1, 6.2 is thus prevented. The wall and floor are not shown in the drawing.
[0050] A first embodiment of a modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention is shown in the Fig. 1 und Fig. 2 The folding bed system 1 here comprises two folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention, arranged side by side in alignment with respect to a horizontal width direction B oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L. Mounted on the outer side panels 22 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2, i.e., opposite the adjacent folding bed module 3.1, 3.2, is a piece of add-on furniture 48 designed as a shelf with a storage niche and integrated lighting. The add-on furniture 48 is each secured to the wall at an upper end opposite the floor via a wall mounting bracket 77 and serves as the lateral cladding of the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 or as a modular extension of the folding bed system 1.
[0051] The folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 here have a foot 19 designed as a pivoting foot. The pivoting foot is attached to a cross member 10 of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 via pivoting hinges designed as flat hinges, allowing it to pivot through 180°. The cross member 10 extends in the width direction B and, when the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are not in use, forms an upper end of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2, opposite the floor. In the non-use position of one of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2, the pivoting foot is placed against a wall-mounted stop plate 47 and moved into a first pivoting end position, in which the pivoting foot is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal beams 8 of the respective bed frame 6.1, 6.2 and projects beyond an upper side opposite the frame underside 15 of the bed frame 6.1, 6.2 or the mattress 30 placed thereon. In the use position of the bed frame 6.1, 6.2, the swivel foot is supported on the floor and moved into a second swivel end position, in which the swivel foot is also oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6.1, 6.2, but projects beyond the frame underside 15 of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2.
[0052] The Fig. 1 shows the first embodiment of the modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention with the two bed frames 6.1, 6.2 of the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention in the non-use position. The bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are extended vertically in the non-use position, and a front panel 14 made up of several panels is attached to a frame underside 15 of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 facing the front side 29. When the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are not in use, the front panel 14 is flush with the add-on furniture 48 towards the front side 29. The folding bed system 1 according to the invention therefore looks like a conventional piece of cabinet furniture when the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are not in use. Recessed grips 46 are embedded in the front panel 14, which serve to grip the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 when pivoting. The grips 46 are in the non-use position of the bed frames 6.1, 6.The two lowest panels of the front panel 14, which are held above the floor, are designed as front panels 21 which can be pivoted either automatically or forcibly with the bed frames 6.1, 6.2.
[0053] The second bed frame 6.2 of the figuratively right second folding bed module 3.1 is in the Fig. 2 opposite Fig. 1 pivoted from the non-use position into the use position, with the second bed frame 6.2 pivoted out by approximately 90° toward the front side 29 and the floor and extending horizontally. The first bed frame 6.1 of the first folding bed module 3.1 remains unchanged in the non-use position and extends vertically. The front panel 21 pivotably mounted on the second bed frame 6.2 has been pivoted along with the second bed frame 6.2 by approximately 45° toward the front side 29 and the floor. The front panel 21 of the first bed frame 6.1 is oriented vertically. The front panels 21 are each connected to the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 of the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 via a folding mechanism 32 fixed to the console supports 9 and two connecting rods 20 held rotatably at the ends, so that the front panels 21 are forcibly or automatically pivoted when the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are pivoted.
[0054] A second embodiment of a folding bed module 3 according to the invention for a modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention is given by Fig. 3 bis Fig. 10 The folding bed module 3, in contrast to the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 of the folding bed system 1, has Fig. 1 two feet 19 held on the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6 and designed as pendulum feet. Otherwise, the embodiment of the folding bed module 3 according to the Fig. 3 bis Fig. 10 with the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 of the folding bed system 1 according to Fig. 1 agree.
[0055] As a key inventive concept, the base frame 5 of the folding bed module 3 according to the invention comprises two console supports 9 of equal length and arranged horizontally aligned with one another, on which the bed frame 6 is fully supported via the pivot fittings 11 in the non-use position and at least in the area of the head end 12 in the use position. With respect to the width direction B, the console supports 9 of the base frame 5 are arranged between longitudinal supports 8 of the bed frame 6. The pivot fittings 11 are each held at an upper end of the console supports 9 opposite the floor, with bearing pins of the pivot fittings 11 being received in upwardly open recesses 49 in the console supports 9. This advantageously allows the pivot fittings 11 and the base frame 5 to be designed compactly. Furthermore, the pivot fittings 11 are not visible during normal use of the folding bed module 3.
[0056] The console supports 9 are designed here as vertically extending angle console supports. The console supports 9 essentially have an L-shaped profile with a bent stiffening leg 25 facing inward, i.e., toward the other console support 9 of the base frame 5. The stiffening legs 25 provide the console supports 9 with improved stability and mechanical strength, particularly against transverse force loads in the width direction B.
[0057] The vertically extending console supports 9 of the base frame 5 have an upwardly open recess 49 at an upper end facing away from the floor, which serves to accommodate bearing pins of the pivot fittings 11. The bed frame 6 with the pivot fittings 11 pre-mounted thereon can thus be suspended from above in the base frame 5. After suspension, the bearing pins of the pivot fittings 11 are secured to the console supports 9 via a bolt lock or the like.
[0058] The base frame 5 further comprises two spaced-apart, vertically oriented, and equally long side panels 22 extending in the longitudinal direction L. The side panels 22 are each folded or bent inward, i.e., toward the opposite side panel 22 of the base frame 5, at a rear end opposite the front side 29 and at an end facing the floor. These bends define connecting sections 36.1, 36.2 for the side panels 22. In addition, the stability and sturdiness of the side panels 22 are thereby improved. The base frame 5 of the folding bed module 3 according to the invention has a narrow width in the width direction B, which, in addition to a width of the bed frame 6, is formed only from a thin wall thickness of the side panels 22 enclosing the bed frame 6.Since the bed frame 6 is supported on the console supports 9, the side panels 22 can be designed as thin sheet metal components with a small wall thickness.
[0059] Furthermore, the base frame 5 here has two L-shaped or right-angled, two-leg corner brackets 37 that are flush with the side panels 22. A first leg 38.1 of the corner wrap 37 extends vertically and is attached to a first connecting section 36.1 of the side panels 22 that is bent over at the rear. A second leg 38.2 of the corner bracket 37, oriented at right angles to the first leg 38.1, is attached under a second connecting section 36.2 of the side panels 22 that is bent over parallel to the floor. The corner brackets 37 and the side panels 22 are preferably manufactured as identical metallic components and connected to one another. The corner brackets 37 of the base frame 5 are connected to one another via a frame-shaped transverse connecting element 17 that extends in the width direction B. The console supports 9 and the cross-connecting element 17 are on the second legs 38.2, the corner bracket 37 is supported or connected thereto. The components of the base frame 5 can be connected using fasteners not shown in the figure, such as screw connections, or by means of a material bond, preferably by welding.
[0060] The floor-standing base frame 5 is supported by a total of four frame feet 39 resting on the floor. The frame feet 39 are each held in place by screw threads on the second legs 38.2 of the corner brackets 37, allowing height adjustment.
[0061] The bed frame 6, encompassed by the base frame 5 in the region of a foot end 12, has a frame formed from two longitudinal beams 8 opposite one another in the width direction B and elongated in the longitudinal extent L, and a cross beam 10 elongated in the width direction B between the longitudinal beams 8, and an additional cross beam 23 held parallel to the cross beam 10 between the longitudinal beams 8. The cross beam 10 connects the longitudinal beams 8 at an upper end facing away from the floor in the non-use position of the bed frame 6 and facing the front side 29 in the use position. The additional cross beam 23 connects the longitudinal beams 8 at a height above the console beams 9 and is spaced from the cross beam 10 by approximately two-thirds of the longitudinal extent of the longitudinal beams 8.In addition, for a high level of sleeping comfort, a plurality of spring slats 45 extending in the width direction B, or a slatted frame with a plurality of spring slats 45, are held between the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6. The bed frame 6 accordingly spans a support surface for the mattress 30. At an end opposite the cross member 10, a mattress stop 31, designed here as a two-legged sheet metal component, is attached to the longitudinal beams 8, on which the mattress 30 placed on the bed frame 6 is supported in the non-use position.
[0062] To simplify the pivoting of the bed frame 6, the folding bed module 3 according to the invention provides two gas pressure springs 18. The gas pressure springs 18 are each pivotally mounted with a first end on one of the bracket supports 9 of the base frame 5 and with an opposite second end in relation to the front side 29 in the use position of the bed frame 6 in front of the bracket supports 9 on one of the longitudinal supports 8 of the bed frame 6. When the bed frame 6 is pivoted, the gas pressure springs 18 generate a thrust force that counteracts the weight of the bed frame 6 and the mattress 30 resting thereon. Pivoting the bed frame 6 upwards from the use position to the non-use position is simplified in that the thrust force of the gas pressure springs 18 at least partially compensates for the weight of the bed frame 6 and the mattress 30.When the bed frame 6 is swung down from the non-use position into the use position, the gas pressure springs 18 have a damping effect and prevent the bed frame 6 from accidentally hitting the floor too hard.
[0063] To pivot the front panel 21, which is formed as part of the front panel 14, the folding bed module 3 provides a folding mechanism 32. The folding mechanism 32 has two rocker arms 33.1, 33.2, each of which is rotatably mounted at its end. The rocker arms 33.1, 33.2 are held by fastening brackets with a first end to a connecting bracket 24 of the console supports 9 and with an opposite second end to the front panel 21. In addition, the front panel 21 is connected to the bed frame 6 via the connecting rod 20, which is also rotatably mounted at its end. The connecting rod 20 is mounted here via a fastening bracket on the additional cross member 23 of the bed frame 6. When the bed frame 6 is pivoted, the front panel 21 is forcibly pivoted accordingly via the connecting rod 20 and the folding mechanism 32.
[0064] The folding bed module 3 according to the invention according to the Fig. 3 bis Fig. 10 Instead of a pivoting foot, it provides two feet 19 designed as pendulum feet, which are balanced when the bed frame 6 is pivoted so that, in the use position of the bed frame 6, they are pivoted out relative to the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6 and placed on the floor, so that the pendulum feet, together with the console beams 9, support the bed frame 6 in the use position. In the non-use position of the bed frame 6, the pendulum feet are held parallel to the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6 in the non-use position and are recessed into a grip recess 46 of the front panel 14.
[0065] The structure and function of the pendulum foot are explained below using the Fig. 8 bis Fig. 10 As explained in the Fig. 8 As can be seen, the foot 19 of the folding bed module 3, designed as a pendulum foot, is held by a pivot screw 74 about a foot axis 64 on a foot plate 50 mounted on the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6. The pivot screw 74 is guided through a slotted hole 74 in the pendulum foot. A detailed view of the foot plate 50 is shown in Fig. 9 The base plate 50 has a stop bar 72 with a stop buffer 75, against which the pendulum foot rests in the non-use position, as well as an angular structure 67 with a U-shaped pocket 71 facing the pendulum foot. The pendulum foot has a flat foot bottom 66, which is placed on the floor in the non-use position of the bed frame 6. On an upper foot side opposite the foot bottom 66, the pendulum foot has two lugs 69.1, 69.2 of different lengths and rounded towards the outside. A slot-shaped locking recess 70 is provided between the lugs 69.1, 69.2. Furthermore, the pendulum foot has a handle section in which a slot-shaped handle recess 65 is provided for gripping.
[0066] The pendulum foot can be moved by pressing the longer second nose 69.2 from the front side 29 into a Fig. 8 shown intermediate position, in which the handle section is pivoted out in sections towards the front side 29 relative to the front panel 14, so that it can be grasped. The pendulum foot is balanced in such a way that when the bed frame 6 is pivoted from the non-use position into the use position, it automatically rests on the floor with the foot bottom 66 when the bed frame 6 reaches the use position, and the shorter first nose 69.1 on the opposite foot top is received in the pocket 71 of the angle structure 67 of the foot plate 50. The Fig. 10 shows the pendulum foot in engagement with the angular structure 67 of the base plate 50. A web 68 of the angular structure 67 engages in the engagement recess 70 of the pendulum foot, or a flat inner surface of the longer, second lug 69.2 of the pendulum foot is in contact with the web 68 of the angular structure 67. The pendulum foot is thus secured against rotation or blocked against rotation when the bed frame 6 reaches the position of use. Only when the bed frame 6 is lifted can the pendulum foot pivot back, whereby the engagement of the web 68 of the angular structure 67 in the engagement recess 70 of the pendulum foot is automatically released due to gravity, thus releasing any rotational blockage of the pendulum foot.
[0067] An alternative second embodiment of the modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention is given by Fig. 11 bis Fig. 15 The folding bed system 1 comprises two folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention arranged in alignment next to one another in a third exemplary embodiment with front-mounted furniture pieces 4.1, 4.2 arranged in front of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 with respect to the front side 29 when the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are not in use. The front-mounted furniture pieces 4.1, 4.2 each have a back cushion 26 firmly held on the bed frames 6.1, 6.2, as well as an upholstered frame 7.1, 7.2 arranged in front of the back cushions 26 with respect to the front side 29, with a seat cushion 27, and each have an armrest 34 held on an outer side panel 22 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2. The back cushions 26 each have a fastening bracket attached to the back of the cushion facing the front panel 14, which extends through a slotted opening in the front panel 14 and is connected to the additional cross members 23 of the bed frames 6.1, 6.2. The upholstered frames 7.1, 7.2 of the front-mounted furniture 4.1, 4.2 can be pivoted downwards either automatically or forcibly via an adjustment kinematic 56 arranged between the side panels 22 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2 when pivoting the bed frames 6.1, 6.2. At the ends of the side panels 22 facing the front side 29 and below the upholstered frames 7.1, 7.2, a front panel 21 is pivotably mounted as usual via pivot hinges 32.
[0068] To the outer side plates 22 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2, the same material as in the embodiment according to Fig. 1 A piece of add-on furniture 48 designed as a shelf is mounted. As usual, the add-on furniture 48 is each secured to the wall at its upper end via a wall mounting bracket 77. Between the add-on furniture 48, a stop frame 52 extending in the width direction B is held flush with the height of the upper end of the add-on furniture 48, against which the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 are placed when not in use. In addition, the wall (not shown in the drawing) is concealed by a rear wall 54 held on the stop frame 52 and formed from four rear wall panels 55 held in alignment with one another.
[0069] The bed frames 6.1, 6.2 of the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 are in Fig. 11 held in the non-use position and attached to the stop frame 52 via rubber buffers 28 attached to the cross member 10. The front furniture pieces 4.1, 4.2 are arranged in front of the front panel 29 with respect to the front side 29 and form a sofa or seating furniture for two people. The front panels 21 are held vertically upright.
[0070] In the Fig. 12 The bed frames 6.1, 6.2 of the folding bed modules 3.1, 3.2 have been moved into the use position and, as before, are extended horizontally and supported on the console supports 9 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2 as well as on the feet 19 that are pivoted out to the floor and designed as pendulum feet. For this purpose, the front panels 21 and the upholstered frames 7.1, 7.2 have been pivoted down to the front side 29 and the floor via the adjustment kinematics 56 housed in the base frames 5.1, 5.2. Between the mattresses 30 placed on the bed frames 6.1, 6.2, a central gap 44 running in the longitudinal direction L is formed, with a width B defined solely by the sheet thickness of the side sheets 22 of the base frames 5.1, 5.2. The folding bed system 1 according to the invention thus has a similar lying comfort to a conventional double bed with two mattresses 30.
[0071] Out of Fig. 13 It can be seen that the bed frames 6.1, 6.2 can each be pivoted individually, with the first bed frame 6.1 on the left being moved into the non-use position and the second bed frame 6.2 on the right being moved into the use position. The assembly of one of the add-on furniture items 48 to an outer side panel 22 of the first base frame 5.1 and the stop frame 52 via screw-shaped connecting means is shown schematically here by dashed lines.
[0072] How Fig. 14 shows, the stop frame 52 has a Velcro strip 53 to which the rear wall panels 55 of the rear wall 54 - as in Fig. 15 shown. At an end opposite the stop frame 52, the rear wall panels 55 are inserted laterally into a slide-in profile 76. The rear wall 54 can thus be assembled without tools. The rear wall panels 55 can be upholstered and covered with leather or fabric and used as a headrest when lying on a bed frame 6.1, 6.2 that has been moved into the use position.
[0073] The Fig. 16 bis Fig. 20 provide individual views of a folding bed module 3 according to the invention or its components for the modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention Fig. 11 to.
[0074] The base frame 5 has here, as in the embodiment of the folding bed module 3 according to the invention Fig. 3 two side plates 22, corner brackets 37 attached thereto, a cross-connecting element 17 connecting the corner brackets 37 and two console supports 9. The bed frame 6 is analogous to the bed frame 6 of the folding bed module 3 according to the invention according to Fig. 4 In contrast to the embodiment of the folding bed module 3 according to Fig. 3 The side panels 22 of the base frame 5 extending in the longitudinal direction L are longer here by a factor of 2 to 3, i.e., they extend beyond the corner brackets 37 toward the front side 29 by at least half their length. Additionally, the adjustment kinematics 56 for pivoting the upholstered frame 7 of the add-on furniture 4 are housed between the side panels 22.
[0075] The adjustment kinematics 56 of the folding bed module 3 comprises a rod assembly formed synchronously on an inner side of the side panels 22, each with two control levers 58.1, 58.2, each of which is rotatably held with a lower end facing the floor on a rail 63 mounted on the inner sides of the side panels 22 and is rotatably connected with an upper end opposite the lower end to a seat support 60 for receiving the upholstered frame 7. Furthermore, a tension spring 59 is arranged between each of the control levers 58.1, 58.2. The first control levers 58.1 of the rod assembly are each connected to a first end of a pivot lever 57, wherein the pivot levers 57 are each guided with a second end through an elongated hole-shaped opening 16 provided in the longitudinal beams 8 of the bed frame 6 and are connected to the longitudinal beams 8.The pivot levers 57 are each bent upwards by approximately 90° relative to the remaining sections of the pivot levers 57 in the area of the second ends extending through the opening 16 of the longitudinal members 8. The two rods are connected to one another via a synchronizing strut 61 held between the two first control levers 58.1 in the width direction B, so that they pivot synchronously relative to one another. A stop strut 62 held between the side plates 22 in the width direction B stabilizes the base frame 5 in the area of the adjustment kinematics 56 and serves as a stop element or end point for the first control lever 58.1 of the adjustment kinematics when pivoting the upholstered frame 7 upwards.
[0076] The seat supports 60 have slotted openings into which the upholstered frame 7 of the add-on furniture 4 can be releasably inserted using correspondingly shaped guide elements, such as guide pins. This allows for simple, tool-free disassembly and assembly of the upholstered frame 7 on the base frame 5, or for exposing the adjustment kinematics 56. Furthermore, a frame foot 78 is formed on each of the seat supports 60, which serves to support the pivoted-down upholstered frame 7 in the use position of the bed frame 6.
[0077] The front panel 21 is pivotably mounted on the ends of the side panels 22 facing the front side 29 via pivot hinges 32, with the front panel 21 being positively guided by two connecting rods 20, each of which is rotatably mounted at its end and connected to the second control levers 58.2 of the adjustment kinematics 56. Accordingly, when the upholstered frame 7 or the bed frame 6 is pivoted, the front panel 21 is automatically pivoted along with it.
[0078] In the Fig. 19 In the non-use position of the bed frame 6 shown, the control levers 58.1, 58.2 protrude beyond the side panels 22 of the base frame 5, so that the seat support 60 for the upholstered frame 7 of the front unit 4 is held above the side panels 22. The tension spring 59 is relaxed or compressed. The bed frame 6 is extended vertically as usual and supported on the console supports 9 of the floor-standing base frame 5. The front panel 21 facing the front side 29 is held vertically upright.
[0079] When the bed frame 6 is pivoted out from the non-use position into the use position, the pivot levers 57 of the adjustment kinematics 56 are forcibly or automatically pivoted synchronously with the bed frame 6 towards the front 29 and towards the floor, whereby the control levers 58.1, 58.2 and the seat supports 60 of the rods connected thereto are pivoted accordingly towards the front 29 and towards the floor and the tension springs 59 are stretched or tensioned.
[0080] In the Fig. 18 In the illustrated position of use of the bed frame 6, the seat supports 60 of the adjustment kinematics 56 are lowered so far that the upholstered frame 7 of the front unit 4 mounted thereon is brought to a vertical height below the bed frame 6. The frame feet 78 formed on the seat supports 60 are placed on the floor and support the upholstered frame 7. The pivot levers 57 of the adjustment kinematics 56 are cranked upwards at the level of the stop strut 62 so that they do not come into contact with the stop strut 62. The bed frame 6 is extended horizontally as usual and supported on the two console supports 9 and on the two pivoted-out feet 19. The back cushion 26 of the front unit 4 held on the bed frame 6 has been pivoted down into a free space formed between the side plates 22 of the base frame 5 and above the pivot levers 57.The tension springs 59 are stretched or tensioned in the use position of the bed frame 6, so that when the bed frame 6 is pivoted upwards from the use position to the non-use position, they act against the weight of the bed frame 6 and the mattress 30 placed thereon, thus providing support in cooperation with the gas pressure springs 18. The mattress 30 is secured to the bed frame 6 here by retaining straps 51.
[0081] When the bed frame 6 is pivoted out from the non-use position into the use position, the pivot levers 57 of the adjustment kinematics 56 are forcibly or automatically pivoted synchronously with the bed frame 6 towards the front 29 and towards the floor, whereby the control levers 58.1, 58.2 and the seat supports 60 of the rods connected thereto are pivoted accordingly towards the front 29 and towards the floor and the tension springs 59 are stretched or tensioned.
[0082] An alternative fourth embodiment of a folding bed module 3 according to the invention for the folding bed system 1 according to the invention is shown in Fig. 20 In contrast to the embodiment of the folding bed module according to the invention according to the Fig. 16 bis Fig. 20 Here, the back cushion 26 is loosely placed on the seat cushion 27 and leaning against the front panel 14. The upholstered frame 7 or seat cushion 27 is designed to be deeper here, i.e., it extends closer to the front panel 14 in relation to the longitudinal direction L. Before moving the bed frame 6 from the non-use to the use position, the back cushion 26 must be manually removed. The bed frame 6, the adjustment kinematics 56 and the base frame 5 of the folding bed module 3 are otherwise analogous to the embodiment of the folding bed module 3 according to the Fig. 16 bis Fig. 20 executed.
[0083] The invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiments of the folding bed system 1 according to the invention or the folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention.
[0084] The folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 can, in principle, be designed in different widths to accommodate different mattress widths of the mattress 30. For this purpose, only the components extending in the width direction B need to be adjusted in terms of their length. Depending on the embodiment, the base frame 5, 5.1, 5.2 only needs to be adjusted with respect to the cross-connecting element 17 or the synchronizing strut 61 and the stop strut 62 of the adjustment kinematics 56.
[0085] The modular folding bed system 1 according to the invention can, according to an alternative embodiment not shown in the figure and while retaining the inventive idea, also have three or more folding bed modules 3, 3.1, 3.2.
[0086] Likewise, while maintaining the inventive concept, it is conceivable for the installation arrangement according to the invention or the folding bed system 1 according to the invention to be constructed in a wall niche. Lateral add-on components can be completely dispensed with in this case.
[0087] Furthermore, while maintaining the inventive idea, the add-on components can also be mounted laterally on a single folding bed module 3, 3.1, 3.2 according to the invention to form an alternative folding bed system designed for a single person.
[0088] Identical components and component functions are identified by the same reference symbols.
