AI Technical Summary
Existing roof hooks for attaching solar panels or photovoltaic modules to roof structures face challenges with irregular roof surfaces, limited adjustability, and accessibility issues due to fixed height devices and complex clamping mechanisms, which restrict their flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
The roof hook design features adjustable spreading elements with clamping plates and support rails that allow for flexible positioning and tensioning of the supporting arm, enabling easy access and secure attachment to the assembly foot, and an optional two-part supporting arm for independent carrier positioning outside the roof shingles.
This design enhances the adjustability and accessibility of the roof hook, allowing for secure and cost-effective attachment of solar panels or photovoltaic modules to various roof structures, simplifying installation and accommodating different roof conditions.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a roof hook for attaching a panel, in particular a photovoltaic module or a solar panel or a component thereof, to a roof structure, comprising a mounting base that can be attached to the roof structure, a support for attaching a component for connecting the panel and a hook-shaped support arm designed to grip a roof shingle, which can be connected to the mounting base with one end section as a support arm connection section and through which the support is provided with its other end section.
[0002] Roof hooks of this type are used on pitched roofs for mounting panels on the exterior of the roof, such as photovoltaic modules or solar panels. A mounting base, which attaches to the roof structure, is a component of such a roof hook. This base typically has a perforated base plate, allowing it to be attached to the roof structure beneath the roof shingles. If the mounting base has a certain length, it may also be provided by a mounting rail. Furthermore, such a roof hook has a hook-shaped support arm. At one end of this arm, a connection section allows it to be attached to the mounting base. Following the roof slope, the hook-shaped support arm extends beneath a roof shingle and has a support bracket at its end, which is located above the shingle. This support bracket is used to attach components for mounting a panel. These components can include screws, mounting rail adapters, and the like, depending on how a panel or the supporting component is to be mounted.
[0003] For proper panel installation, the supports of roof hooks arranged in a row must be at the same height and, if possible, aligned with one another. Since roof structures typically exhibit irregularities in this regard, a spacer is provided between the support arm and the base plate (the mounting foot). For this purpose, the support arm connection section is height-adjustable with respect to its attachment to the mounting rail. This height adjustment mechanism, or spacer, of the support is located below a roof shingle in the installed position. As with a previously known roof hook, this adjustment is achieved by means of a corresponding screw connection.
[0004] A snap-fit connection for attaching the support arm connection section of a roof hook's support arm to its mounting base is known from DE 10 2018 122 176 A1. In this roof hook, the mounting base is provided by a mounting rail, which is an extruded rail. Two legs extending longitudinally along the mounting rail define a mounting channel as the mounting space. Clamping structures are provided on the same side of each leg, into which the base, as the support arm connection section, can be engaged. A clamping lever, secured by a slider, serves for locking. To ensure proper attachment of this support arm to the mounting rail, the clamping structures of the leg on which the clamping lever is not supported must be undercut in the clamping direction. The support arm connection section therefore has a bridge section that spans the mounting rail, allowing it to engage with an engagement structure in such a designed undercut (structure). Since this previously known roof hook incorporates several clamping structures one above the other, its support can be adjusted with respect to its distance from the base plate of the mounting rail. However, stepless adjustment is not possible due to the predefined clamping structures.
[0005] In this previously known roof hook, a leg extending upwards is formed at the end of the hook-shaped section of its support arm. Attached to this leg is a height-adjustable support for a panel mounting rail. The height adjustment is achieved without tools using a sleeve that, after the height has been set, is slid onto a clamping device. On their opposing sides, this section of the support arm and the height-adjustable support have complementary interlocking structures, which provide additional positive locking security for the height adjustment.
[0006] The tensioning lever of the clamping element is located below the bridge section of the girder arm connection. This means it is only accessible from the side, which restricts access for actuating the tensioning lever. Furthermore, it would be desirable to use more cost-effective mounting rails than extruded ones, for example, those made of galvanized sheet steel. The roof hook should also be designed with greater flexibility in terms of its support structure, allowing it to be adapted to local conditions.
[0007] EP 4 075 077 A1, DE 10 2020 116376 A1 and US 2015 / 060619 A1 describe roof hooks according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0008] Based on this discussed state of the art, the invention aims to propose a roof hook that meets the aforementioned requirements.
[0009] According to the invention, this problem is solved, firstly, by a roof hook of the aforementioned type, in which The mounting base has a base plate and two opposing legs connected to it, which laterally define a mounting space and which support a support structure, for example rail-like, on their side facing the other leg. Two adjustable spreading elements are provided as connection means for connecting the support arm to the mounting base, one of which is supported on each support structure of the mounting base in the direction of the mounting space. The spreading elements each have a clamping section and a clamping device which engages with the spreading elements to exert a pre-tension on the support arrangement between the spreading elements and the respective support structure. In the clamped position of the spreading elements, the support arm connection section is held between the clamping sections of the spreading elements.
[0010] This task is further solved by a roof hook of the aforementioned type, in which the support arm is designed in two parts and its support arm connection section is part of a first support arm part and its support is part of a second support arm part, which two support arm parts can be positioned outside the roof shingle covering the mounting foot with respect to the distance of the support from the base plate of the mounting foot.
[0011] According to the first proposed solution, the support arm, with its support arm connection section, can be attached to the mounting base using two spreading elements that can be spread apart from each other by a clamping device. Spreading is achieved by adjusting the two spreading elements relative to each other. Each spreading element can also be considered a clamping element. The spreading elements serve as connection means for attaching the support arm to the mounting base via its support arm connection section. According to a preferred embodiment, the mounting base is implemented as a mounting rail, thus allowing the support arm, with its support arm connection section, to be clamped at different positions along the longitudinal extension of the mounting rail. A clamping bolt, for example, can serve as the clamping device. Each spreading element has a clamping section, designed, for example, as a clamping plate, and means for supporting it against a support structure of the mounting base. The support arm connection section is positioned in a sandwich position between the clamping sections of the two spreading elements. Since the spreading elements are supported against the support structure of the mounting base opposite the side of the support arm connection section of the support arm to which the respective clamping section points, the spreading of the two spreading elements is achieved by tensioning the clamping device. This device moves the two clamping sections towards each other. However, due to the aforementioned engagement position of the clamping device with the spreading elements, the means for supporting the spreading elements against the opposing support structures of the mounting base are moved away from each other. The actuating end of the clamping device is readily accessible on this roof hook and, in particular, is not covered by other structures necessary in previously known roof hooks. Such an expansion joint is also advantageous with regard to handling the roof hook and its adjustment along the longitudinal extension of a mounting base used as a mounting rail. In this respect, the two expansion elements can be pre-tensioned against the mounting rail, so that the support arm can be easily moved within the mounting rail to adjust its position before the clamping device is tightened to fix the adjusted position of the support arm.
[0012] Support structures for the mounting base, projecting from the lateral legs to the opposite leg, can be provided, for example, by support rails, such as those formed by an end chamfer on each leg. In such a design, it is advantageous for the spreading elements to each have a support rail receptacle for bracing against such a support rail, so that the spreading elements are positively connected to the mounting base in the vertical direction of the roof hook. The support rails then also serve as guide rails for the previously described axial adjustability of the support arm relative to a mounting base designed as a mounting rail. This also improves load bearing capacity.
[0013] The opposing end faces of such support rails can be studded or designed with recesses arranged in a series, similar to locking recesses, so that a positive locking connection is achieved in this direction between a spreading element and the corresponding support rail when the support arm is clamped.
[0014] The mounting base can, for example, be designed as a C-profile section. It is understood that such a cross-sectional geometry also includes designs where the two legs enclosing the mounting space are of different sizes, as long as opposing support structures are provided on the facing sides.
[0015] It is advantageous to design the mounting base in which one leg is higher than the other, thus creating a greater distance between the support structure of one leg (e.g., a support rail) and the base plate of the mounting base. This provides additional space for access to a clamping device, such as a clamping bolt, which can be operated with a screwdriver.
[0016] The spreading elements are typically stamped and bent parts. For the purposes of this document, the term "stamped and bent parts" also includes designs where the cutout of the circuit board contour is not necessarily made by stamping, but, for example, by laser cutting or other methods. In such a design of the spreading elements, the clamping sections are each provided by a clamping plate. Support legs are formed on opposite sides of this clamping plate, projecting in the same direction at an angle to it. Their ends rest against a support structure of the mounting base.If the mounting rail has clamping structures integrated into its end face, the spacing of these structures along the longitudinal axis of the mounting base is preferably such that a support leg of the expanding element engages between each pair of positive structures when the support arm is clamped to the mounting rail. An advantage of this design, with the two legs spaced along the longitudinal axis of the mounting space, is the resulting two-point support, ensuring that the attachment of the support arm to the mounting base can withstand higher transverse or torsional forces. Typically, the support legs of the two expanding elements are arranged on the same side of the support arm connection section, in a common plane and offset from each other vertically. The clamping plates of the two spreader elements are at the same height with respect to their clamping opening for the insertion of the clamping device. With this design, each spreader element also provides a receptacle open towards the support arm connection section. Typically, the support legs are spaced far enough apart that the support arm connection section fits into them with minimal play. In this configuration, the spreader elements also secure the support arm against tilting, even in a pre-fixed position.
[0017] According to a preferred embodiment, the support structures, such as support rails, located on the opposing sides of the mounting rail legs are situated in the same plane. The spreading force is then transferred into the mounting base in this plane, into the support structures, and thus into the legs. This ensures a particularly secure hold of the support arm clamped to the mounting base.
[0018] The aforementioned design of this roof hook allows for the simple provision of a height adjustment mechanism for the support arm relative to the mounting base. According to a preferred embodiment, a slot extending in this direction serves this purpose for the support arm connection section located between the two clamping plates of the spreader elements. In such a design, the surface facing the two spreader elements from the support arm connection section can be provided with a clamping structure extending transversely to the adjustment direction, for example, a groove, and the side of the two spreader elements facing the respective side of the support arm connection section can be provided with a complementary clamping structure. The support arm can then be adjusted relative to the mounting base with a single clamping device, typically a clamping screw, which secures both degrees of freedom.
[0019] The clamping force with which the support arm of the roof hook according to the invention is connected to the mounting base, for example designed as a mounting rail, is introduced into the opposing legs that laterally delimit the mounting space, acting as clamping abutments. Thus, a preload can be coupled into these legs, thereby additionally securing the clamping connection.
[0020] In the clamped position, the support arm connection section is fixed between the two clamping sections. With regard to the height adjustment of the support arm connection section to the base plate of the mounting foot on the clamping sections of the spreader elements, the surfaces contacting each other in the clamped position can each have complementary interlocking structures, for example, grooves running transversely to the adjustment direction.
[0021] According to the second proposed solution, which can be combined with the first and, in a preferred embodiment, is indeed combined, the support arm is designed in two parts: the support arm section with the support arm connection section is a first support arm section, and the support arm section carrying the beam is a second support arm section. The two support arm sections are adjustable with respect to the distance of the beam from the base plate of the mounting foot. This height adjustment of the beam thus takes place within the support arm, but outside the area of the roof shingle laid on the roof structure. This means that the upper end of the support arm remains unchanged regardless of the adjustment of the distance between its beam and the base plate of the mounting foot. Fasteners can therefore be attached to the beam, and these fasteners can project beyond the beam in any direction.According to one embodiment, this spacer device is designed such that one of the two cooperating support arm sections has an elongated hole extending towards the spacer device, and the other support arm section has an internal threaded bore or through-hole for a clamping screw. It is advantageous if the opposing surfaces of these support arm sections also have interlocking structures that engage with each other when the support arm sections are clamped. Such interlocking structures can, for example, be grooves running transversely to the direction of the spacer device. The adjustability of the two support arm sections in this regard can be achieved by suitable means, for example, by one of the two cooperating support arm sections having lateral guide flanges that laterally surround the other support arm section.
[0022] The support arm's bracket can serve as a direct mounting point for a panel. Similarly, the bracket can provide a mounting surface for any other components of a photovoltaic module system or a solar panel system, such as a mounting rail adapter or a mounting base. The bracket itself can have features to allow a component to be attached to it, such as an adapter or the like, to be aligned along the length of this section of the support arm. Typically, the bracket runs parallel to the support arm. For example, a slotted opening can be provided to facilitate the alignment of a component to be attached to the bracket. If, for example, a screw is used as the fastener, the component to be attached to the bracket can also be aligned by rotating it around the screw's axis before the screw is tightened.
[0023] In the roof hook according to the first solution proposal, several support arms can be connected to one and the same mounting base, particularly in a design as a mounting rail, in the manner described. According to the second solution proposal, the mounting base can also be an integral part of the support arm.
[0024] The invention is described below with reference to an exemplary embodiment and the accompanying figures. These show: Fig. 1 : a roof hook according to the invention in the form of an exploded view, Fig. 2 : the roof hook of the Figure 1 in its assembly, Fig. 3 : a perspective enlarged view of the tensioning of the support arm with the mounting rail and Fig. 4 : The roof hook, attached to a roof structure.
[0025] A roof hook 1 comprises a mounting rail 2 as a mounting base, via which the roof hook 1 can be attached to a roof structure. The mounting rail 2 has a base plate 3 into which fastening holes 4 can be inserted at a predetermined grid for screwing the mounting rail 2 to a roof structure, for example, using screws. The mounting rail 2 comprises two legs 5, 5.1, which laterally delimit the base plate 3 along the longitudinal extent of the mounting rail 2. The legs 5, 5.1 are angled relative to the base plate 3, specifically extending from the base plate 3 in the same direction. Each leg 5, 5.1 has a support structure at its end, projecting towards and towards the other leg 5, 5, respectively, which in the illustrated embodiment is designed as a support rail 6, 6.1. The planar extension of the support rails 6, 6.1 lies in one plane (see also Figure 4The plane in which the planar extension of the support rails 6, 6.1 is located is inclined relative to the plane of the base plate 3. In the illustrated embodiment, this is achieved by the leg 5.1 having a greater distance from the base plate 3 with its upper end, which supports the support rail 6.1, than leg 5. Leg 5.1 of the illustrated embodiment is also V-shaped, with a first leg section 7 forming an obtuse angle (approximately 120° in the illustrated embodiment) with the base plate 3. The second leg section 7.1 forms approximately the same angle with the first leg section 7. The opposing end edges 8, 8.1 of the support rails 6, 6.1 are equipped with clamping structures that act in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the mounting rail 2.The clamping structures of the illustrated embodiment are designed in the form of detent recesses. The mounting rail 2 is a stamped and bent part made of galvanized sheet steel.
[0026] A support arm 9 is also included with the roof hook. This arm provides the actual hook element of the roof hook 1. The support arm 9 has a support arm connection section 10 at one end, which can be attached to the mounting rail 2. A support beam 11 is provided at the other end of the support arm. The support beam 11 of the support arm 9 serves to connect fasteners for attaching, for example, a photovoltaic module or solar panel. These fasteners can be those used for the direct attachment of a panel or those to which, in turn, fasteners for tensioning a panel are attached. In the illustrated embodiment, a mounting rail adapter 12 is connected to the support beam 11 of the support arm 9.
[0027] The support arm 9, with its support arm connection section 10, is attached to the mounting rail 2 by means of two expansion elements 13, 13.1, which are also designed as stamped and bent parts, and a clamping device, provided in the illustrated embodiment as a clamping screw 14. The expansion elements 13, 13.1 thus serve as connection means for attaching the support arm 9 to the mounting rail 2. The expansion elements 13, 13.1 each have a clamping plate 15, 15.1 as clamping sections and support legs 16, 16.1, which are integrally formed on opposite sides and are bent in the illustrated embodiment. The width of the clamping plates 15, 15.1 along the longitudinal extent of the mounting rail 2 is the same for both expansion elements 13, 13.1. Therefore, the distance between the two legs 16 and 16.1 is the same for both expansion elements 13, 13.1. Through the respective clamping plate 15, 15.1 and the support legs 16, 16 molded onto it.1 provides a receptacle for the support arm connection section 10. To attach the support arm 9 to a mounting rail 2, the two spreading elements 13, 13.1 are arranged in such a way that the respective clamping plates 15, 15.1 point towards one side of the support arm connection section 10 and the respective support legs 16, 16.1 are guided past the support arm connection section 10 in the same direction and are provided for support against the support rail 6 or 6.1 opposite the support arm connection section 10. For this reason, the support legs 16, 16.1 are in the position shown in . Figure 1 The vertical direction shown is offset from each other. InThe free ends of the support legs 16, 16.1, pointing away from each other, are provided with support rail receptacles 17, 17.1. The respective support rail 6, 6.1 of the mounting rail 2 engages in these receptacles with an edge section to clamp the support arm 9 to the mounting rail 2. The detent recesses provided on the end faces 8, 8.1 of the support rail 6, 6.1 are spaced apart from each other at a distance corresponding to the distance between the support leg receptacles 17, 17.1 of the respective two support legs 16, 16.1. The clamping plate 15 of the expanding element 13 has an opening 18 for the threaded shank of the clamping screw 14. The clamping plate 15 of the other expanding element 13.1 has an internal threaded through-hole 19 at a complementary position.
[0028] For attaching the support arm 9 to the mounting rail 2, the support arm connection section 10 is used, as shown in Figure 1The support arm 9 is inserted into the receptacles provided by the expanding elements 16, 16.1, and the clamping screw is passed through the opening 18 and a vertically extending elongated hole 20 of the support arm connection section 10 and threaded into the internal threaded passage 19 of the expanding element 13.1. In this pre-assembled position, the support arm 9, with the expanding elements 13, 13.1 connected to it by means of the clamping screw 14, can be easily inserted from above between the opposing end faces 8, 8.1 of the support rail 6, 6.1 of the mounting rail. The vertically extending elongated hole within the support arm connection section 10 allows the distance of the support arm connection section 10 from the base plate 3 or from the mounting rail 2 to be adjusted. Thus, this feature serves to adapt the height of the support arm 9 to the local conditions.
[0029] The support arm 9 of the illustrated embodiment is constructed in two parts and comprises a first support arm section 21 and a second support arm section 22. The interface between the two support arm sections 21, 22 is located in the deflection section of the support arm 9 that determines the hook shape, i.e., in that section of the support arm 9 where the distance of the support 11 relative to the mounting rail 2 can be adjusted. This is possible with the roof hook 1. For this purpose, the second support arm section 22, with its support 11, has an elongated hole 23 extending in the direction of the distance adjustment. The complementary leg 24 of the first support arm section 21 is equipped with an internal threaded bore 24. A clamping screw 25 serves to connect the two support arm sections 21, 22.
[0030] The opposing sides of the legs of the support arm parts 21, 22, which cooperate for the spacing device, are equipped with a groove 26 running transversely to the direction of the change in distance (visible on the second support arm part 22). These grooves 26 are engaged with each other to provide an additional positive locking connection after the distance of the support 11 from the mounting rail 2 has been set and the joint is clamped by the clamping screw 25.
[0031] In the illustrated embodiment, an elongated mounting opening 27 is provided in the support 11 of the support arm 9. This opening extends transversely to the longitudinal extent of the mounting rail 2. Due to the design of the mounting opening 27, a fastening element can be positioned in this direction. In the illustrated embodiment, this applies to the mounting rail adapter 12. The mounting rail adapter 12 serves to connect a mounting rail on the upper side of which a panel, for example a photovoltaic module, rests and can be held by means of fastening clamps fixed to the mounting rail.
[0032] After the support arm 9, with its support arm connection section 10 and the attached spreading elements 13, 13.1, is inserted between the opposing end faces 8, 8.1 of the mounting rail 2 in the pre-tensioned position, the clamping screw 14 is tightened until the end faces 8, 8.1 are loosely inserted into the support rail receptacles 17, 17.1. The support arm 9 is thus already connected to the mounting rail 2, but can still be moved along its length to adjust its position relative to the mounting rail. In this position, the height of the support arm 9, and therefore the distance of its support arm connection section 10 from the base plate 3 of the mounting rail 2, can also be adjusted. Once the support arm 9 is positioned with respect to these two degrees of freedom, this position is fixed by tightening the clamping screw 14. The legs 16, 16.1 of the spreading elements 13, 13 act in this process.1 in opposite directions, as this in . Figure 3This is shown schematically using the block arrows. The spreading elements 13, 13.1 are thus clamped against the support rails 16, 16.1, which are located in the same plane. Their being in the same plane is advantageous for the force transmission into the mounting rail 2. The design of leg 5.1, whose support rail 6.1 has a greater distance to the base plate 3 of the mounting rail 2 than the support rail 6, ensures unimpeded access to the rotary drive contour 28 of the clamping screw 14. A suitable screw tool can easily be inserted into the rotary drive contour 28, extending beyond the support rail 6. At the same time, the longer design of leg 5.1, with its two leg sections 7, 7.1 as described above, ensures that this leg 5.1 when a corresponding clamping force is applied via the clamping screw 14, it is elastically deformed to a small extent, which additionally secures the fastening connection between the support arm 9 and the mounting rail 2.
[0033] Figure 4 Figure 1 shows an installation situation of the roof hook 1 on a beam 29 of a roof structure, which is not shown in detail. The mounting rail 2 is attached to the beam 29 by screws in a manner not shown in detail. The support arm 9 is located below in Figure 4 The first support arm section 21 extends from the roof shingle 30 shown and from above the roof shingle 30.1 located below it. Thus, the interface between the two support arm sections 21, 22 is located outside the roof shingles 30, 30.1. This allows the support 11 to be adjusted vertically with respect to its distance from the mounting rail 2 and also from the roof shingle 30, even when the roof structure is covered with the roof shingles 30, 30.1.
[0034] The description in the invention clarifies that with this roof hook 1 not only is the assembly of its support arm 9 with the mounting rail 2 simplified, but that this roof hook 1 also has several degrees of freedom with regard to its design for adapting to the respective requirements.
[0035] The invention has been described using exemplary embodiments. Without departing from the scope of the applicable claims, a person skilled in the art would recognize numerous further embodiments of the invention, without the need to elaborate on these in detail here. Reference symbol list
