Description

Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of vacuum cleaners equipped with a suction head for vacuuming dust and waste present on a surface to be cleaned. State of the art

[0002] Vacuum cleaners equipped with a suction head are well known on the market, allowing you to clean surfaces by suction to remove dust and debris from them. The surface to be vacuumed can, for example, be tiles, parquet, laminate, carpet or a rug.

[0003] Document FR2729842 describes a suction head comprising: a main body comprising a sole provided with a lower face configured to be oriented towards a surface to be cleaned, and a suction mouth opening into the lower face of the sole, and a rear sealing member located at the rear of the suction mouth, the rear sealing member comprising a fixing part which is fixed in a receiving housing provided on the main body and a rear sealing strip which is connected to the fixing part and which is configured to cooperate with the surface to be cleaned.

[0004] The rear sealing strip is elastically deformable between a first configuration in which the rear sealing strip projects from the underside of the sole and a lower edge of the rear sealing strip is located at a first distance from the suction mouth, and a second configuration in which the lower edge of the sealing strip is located at a second distance from the suction mouth which is greater than the first distance.

[0005] The presence of such a rear sealing strip makes it possible, when the rear sealing strip is in the first configuration, to effectively suck up dust or other waste placed in front of the suction mouth when the suction head moves forward on a hard floor.

[0006] In addition, such a configuration of the rear sealing strip allows, when moving the suction head forward on a soft floor, such as a carpet or rug, a deformation of the rear sealing strip in the second configuration, which limits the friction generated by the rear sealing strip on the soft floor to be cleaned and therefore facilitates forward movements of the suction head on a soft floor.

[0007] However, such a configuration of the rear sealing blade results in a concentration of significant stresses on the rear sealing blade, which induces premature wear of the rear sealing blade and therefore impairs the reliability and suction performance of the suction head. Summary of the invention

[0008] The present invention aims to remedy all or part of these drawbacks.

[0009] The technical problem underlying the invention consists in particular in providing a suction head which is of simple and reliable structure, while having increased cleaning performance.

[0010] To this end, the present invention relates to a suction head comprising: a main body comprising a sole provided with a lower face configured to be oriented towards a surface to be cleaned, and a suction inlet opening into the lower face of the sole, a rear sealing member located at the rear of the suction inlet, the rear sealing member comprising a fixing part which is fixed in a receiving housing provided on the main body and a rear sealing strip which is connected to the fixing part, the rear sealing member being elastically deformable between a first configuration in which the rear sealing strip projects from the lower face of the sole and a lower edge of the rear sealing strip is located at a first distance from the suction inlet and a second configuration in which the lower edge of the sealing strip is located at a second distance from the suction inlet which is greater than the first distance.

[0011] The reception accommodation includes: a first housing part in which is received and held, and for example clamped, at least a front part of a front longitudinal portion of the fixing part, the fixing part being configured to be elastically deformed at the front longitudinal portion, and for example at a part of the front longitudinal portion which is not held in the first housing part, during an elastic deformation of the rear sealing member between the first and second configurations, and a second housing part in which is movably mounted a rear portion, and for example a rear longitudinal portion, of the fixing part, the second housing part delimiting a vertical clearance which is located above the rear portion when the rear sealing member occupies the first configuration and which is configured to allow lifting of the rear portion during elastic deformation of the rear sealing member towards the second configuration.

[0012] Such a configuration of the rear sealing member and the receiving housing gives greater flexion to the rear sealing member and avoids excessive stress concentration on the rear sealing strip, which limits wear of the rear sealing strip and therefore gives increased reliability and performance to the suction head.

[0013] The suction head may further have one or more of the following features, taken alone or in combination.

[0014] According to one embodiment of the invention, the at least one front portion of the front longitudinal portion of the fixing portion is held between two walls which are opposite each other and which are substantially parallel to each other. Advantageously, each of the two walls extends substantially horizontally when the suction head rests on a horizontal surface.

[0015] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing member is monobloc, that is to say made in a single piece.

[0016] According to one embodiment of the invention, the front part and an intermediate part of the front longitudinal portion are held, and for example clamped, in the first housing part.

[0017] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip extends from the fixing part, and for example from a median longitudinal portion of the fixing part.

[0018] According to one embodiment of the invention, the suction mouth has an elongated shape and extends in an extension direction. Advantageously, the extension direction extends substantially perpendicular to a direction of movement of the suction head.

[0019] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip extends substantially parallel to the direction of extension of the suction mouth.

[0020] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first housing portion has a first height and the second housing portion has a second height which is greater than the first height.

[0021] According to one embodiment of the invention, the main body comprises a passage slot opening into the receiving housing and through which the rear sealing strip extends. Advantageously, the passage slot is provided on the sole.

[0022] According to one embodiment of the invention, the passage slot comprises a rear stop wall, the rear sealing strip being configured to abut against the rear stop wall when the rear sealing member occupies the second configuration.

[0023] According to one embodiment of the invention, the passage slot has a width greater than the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip. Advantageously, the width of the passage slot is 1.3 to 3 times greater than the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip. Advantageously, the rear sealing strip is positioned relative to the passage slot such that a rear horizontal clearance is created between the rear sealing strip and the rear stop wall. Such a configuration of the passage slot allows, during elastic deformation of the fixing part causing deformation of the rear sealing member towards the second configuration, a rearward pivoting of the rear sealing strip while limiting excessively localized deformations of the rear sealing strip and therefore while limiting the stress concentrations in the latter.Indeed, thanks to this configuration which makes it possible to increase the radius of curvature of the rear sealing strip when it is bent in the second configuration, the deformations resulting from the rear bending are better distributed within the rear sealing strip.

[0024] According to one embodiment of the invention, the receiving housing comprises a bottom wall into which the passage slot opens.

[0025] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear portion of the fixing part is configured to rest on the bottom wall when the rear sealing member occupies the first configuration.

[0026] According to one embodiment of the invention, the main body comprises a rear clearance located at the rear of the suction mouth and delimiting a rear recess which is open downwards and in which the rear sealing strip is at least partially received, the passage slot opening into the rear recess. Advantageously, the rear clearance is provided on the sole.

[0027] According to one embodiment of the invention, the passage slot opens into a rear lower surface of the lower face of the sole, the rear lower surface being configured to extend substantially horizontally when the suction head rests on a horizontal surface and to be located at a separation distance from said horizontal surface which is between 2 and 6 times the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip. Such an arrangement of the passage slot makes it possible to increase the radius of curvature of the path of movement of the lower edge of the rear sealing strip when it pivots between the first and second configurations, which therefore further limits the stress concentrations on the flexible part of the rear sealing strip.

[0028] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing member has a cross-section which is substantially in the shape of an inverted T or L.

[0029] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing blade is configured to extend substantially vertically when the rear sealing member is in the first configuration and the suction head is parallel to a horizontal surface, and to be inclined rearwardly and relative to the vertical when the rear sealing member is in the second configuration and the suction head rests on a horizontal surface.

[0030] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip projects substantially perpendicular to the lower face of the sole when the rear sealing member is in the first configuration.

[0031] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip has a thickness which decreases towards the lower edge of the rear sealing strip.

[0032] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip is elastically deformable.

[0033] According to another embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing strip could be rigid or semi-rigid.

[0034] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing member is configured to be elastically deformed into the second configuration as a function of the friction forces generated by the friction of the rear sealing member on the surface to be cleaned.

[0035] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing member is configured to be elastically deformed into the second configuration when the suction head is moved forward on soft ground.

[0036] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing blade member is configured to be elastically deformed into the first configuration when the suction head is moved rearwardly over a floor.

[0037] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first configuration corresponds to a rest configuration of the rear sealing member.

[0038] According to one embodiment of the invention, the suction head further comprises a rotating brush housed in a suction chamber which is delimited by the main body and which is fluidically connected to the suction mouth, the rotating brush comprising a brush body which has a central longitudinal axis and which is configured to be driven in rotation in a predetermined direction of rotation and around an axis of rotation substantially coaxial with the central longitudinal axis of the brush body.

[0039] According to one embodiment of the invention, the rotating brush comprises a row of bristles provided on an outer peripheral surface of the brush body and extending over at least a portion of the length of the brush body, and a cleaning slat provided on the outer peripheral surface of the brush body and extending over at least a portion of the length of the brush body, the cleaning slat being angularly offset from the row of bristles relative to the central longitudinal axis of the brush body by an offset angle and being located at the rear of the row of bristles relative to the predetermined rotation direction of the brush body.

[0040] According to one embodiment of the invention, the main body comprises a suction duct opening into the suction chamber, and for example into a rear part of the suction chamber.

[0041] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first housing part opens into a lower part of the second housing part.

[0042] According to one embodiment of the invention, the first housing part forms a fixing groove, and for example a fixing groove which is open towards the rear.

[0043] According to the embodiment of the invention, the main body comprises a stop member, such as a stop rib, provided in the second housing part and against which the rear portion of the fixing part is intended to come into abutment when the rear sealing member occupies the second configuration. [0045] THE figures 1 to 9 represent a suction head 2 comprising a connection sleeve 3 to which is intended to be connected a tip of a rigid or flexible tube, itself connected to a suction system of a vacuum cleaner (not illustrated). Various variants of vacuum cleaners already exist on the market and can be used with the suction head 2 according to the invention; these variants being known to those skilled in the art, they are not detailed in the present patent application.

[0046] The suction head 2 comprises a main body 4 configured to be moved over a surface to be cleaned. The connecting sleeve 3 is advantageously mounted in a pivot connection relative to the main body 4 so as to allow the main body 4 to pivot forwards and backwards when the suction head 2 moves in a direction of movement D1.

[0047] The main body 4 comprises a sole 5 provided with a lower face 6 configured to be oriented towards the surface to be cleaned, and a suction mouth 7 opening onto the lower face 6 of the sole 5. The suction mouth 7 may for example have an elongated shape and extend in a direction of extension which is perpendicular to the direction of movement D1 of the suction head 2.

[0048] The main body 4 further comprises a suction chamber 8 which opens into the lower face 6 of the sole 5 via the suction mouth 7, and which is fluidically connected to the connecting sleeve 3 in particular by means of a suction duct 9, which may for example be formed at least in part by a flexible connecting duct. Advantageously, the suction duct 9 opens into a rear part of the suction chamber 8.

[0049] The suction head 2 also comprises a rotating brush 11 comprising a brush body 12 which has a generally tubular shape and which has a central longitudinal axis A. Advantageously, the brush body 12 is cylindrical with a circular cross-section. The brush body 12 is mounted to rotate in the suction chamber 8 about an axis of rotation which is substantially coaxial with the central longitudinal axis A of the brush body 12, and is configured to be driven in rotation in a predetermined direction of rotation, which is shown diagrammatically in the figure 7 by an arrow rotating counterclockwise.

[0050] Advantageously, the brush body 12 is removably mounted in the suction chamber 8 and is configured to be inserted into and removed from the suction chamber 8 in a mounting direction D2 which advantageously extends perpendicular to the direction of movement D1 of the suction head 2.

[0051] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the main body 4 has a passage opening 13 opening into the suction chamber 8 and through which the brush body 12 can be introduced into and removed from the suction chamber 8. Advantageously, the passage opening 13 is provided on a lateral face of the main body 4.

[0052] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the rotating brush 11 comprises several rows of bristles 14, for example two rows of bristles, provided on an outer peripheral surface of the brush body 12, and several cleaning strips 15, for example elastically deformable or rigid, provided on the outer peripheral surface of the brush body 12. Advantageously, the rows of bristles 14 and the cleaning strips 15 are alternated around the periphery of the brush body 12. According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the rotating brush 11 could however comprise a single row of bristles 14 and a single cleaning strip 15, or even be devoid of a row of bristles 14 or of a cleaning strip 15.

[0053] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the rows of bristles 14 extend helically around the central longitudinal axis A of the brush body 12, and the cleaning strips 15 extend helically around the central longitudinal axis A of the brush body 12. Advantageously, the rows of bristles 14 and the cleaning strips 15 extend, relative to the central longitudinal axis A of the brush body 12, at helix angles which are substantially identical.

[0054] Each cleaning strip 15 is located at the rear of a respective row of bristles 14 relative to the predetermined direction of rotation of the brush body 12, and is more particularly configured to draw towards the suction mouth 7 dust raised by the respective row of bristles 14 and suspended behind the respective row of bristles 14.

[0055] Each cleaning strip 15 is angularly offset from the respective row of bristles 14, relative to the central longitudinal axis A of the brush body 12, by an offset angle α of between 20 and 90°, advantageously between 25 and 55°, and for example between 32 and 46°.

[0056] The suction head 2 further comprises a closing cap 17 which is configured to close the passage opening 13 when the brush body 12 is mounted in the suction chamber 8.

[0057] The suction head 2 also comprises a rotation drive device 18 configured to rotate the brush body 12 around the rotation axis and at a rotation speed for example between 2000 and 8000 rpm.

[0058] The rotational drive device 18 more particularly comprises a drive motor 19, preferably electric, coupled in rotation to the rotating brush 11. According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the drive motor 19 comprises an output shaft which is substantially collinear with the axis of rotation of the brush body 12, and the drive motor 19 is housed in the brush body 12. Advantageously, the rotating brush 11 comprises a first end portion 11.1 supported by a support element provided on the main body 4 and mounted to rotate relative to the support element, and a second end portion 11.2 supported by the closing cap 17 and mounted to rotate relative to the closing cap 17.

[0059] In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the drive motor 19 could be arranged in the suction head 2 outside the rotating brush 11. According to this alternative, the output shaft of the drive motor 19 could be coupled to the rotating brush 11 for example by a gear chain or by a belt which is for example of the toothed type.

[0060] The suction head 2 also comprises a rear sealing member 21 located at the rear of the suction mouth 7. According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the rear sealing member 21 has a cross-section which is generally T-shaped. However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the rear sealing member 21 could also have a cross-section which is generally in the shape of an inverted L.

[0061] As shown more particularly on the figure 8, the rear sealing member 21 comprises a fixing part 22, such as a fixing base, which is fixed in a receiving housing 23 provided on the main body 4, and more particularly on the sole 5, and a rear sealing strip 24 extending from the fixing part 22, and for example from a median longitudinal portion of the fixing part 22. Advantageously, the sole 5 comprises a rear clearance 26 located at the rear of the suction mouth 7 and delimiting a rear recess 27 which is open downwards and in which the rear sealing strip 24 is partially received.

[0062] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the rear sealing strip 24 extends parallel to the direction of extension of the suction mouth 7, and has a thickness which decreases from the fixing part 22 and towards the lower edge of the rear sealing strip 24. Advantageously, the fixing part 22 and the rear sealing strip 24 are elastically deformable.

[0063] The rear sealing member 21 is more particularly elastically deformable between a first configuration (see figure 8 ) in which the rear sealing strip 24 projects from the lower face 6 of the sole 5 and the lower edge of the rear sealing strip 24 is located at a first distance from the suction mouth 7, and a second configuration (see the figure 9) in which the lower edge of the rear sealing strip 24 is located at a second distance from the suction mouth 7 which is greater than the first distance.

[0064] Advantageously, the rear sealing strip 24 is configured to extend substantially vertically when the rear sealing member 21 is in the first configuration and the suction head 2 is parallel to a horizontal surface, and to be inclined rearwardly and relative to the vertical when the rear sealing member 21 is in the second configuration and the suction head 2 rests on a horizontal surface.

[0065] The rear sealing member 21 is configured to be elastically deformed into the second configuration as a function of the friction forces generated by the friction of the rear sealing strip 24 on the surface to be cleaned. Advantageously, the rear sealing member 21 is configured to be elastically deformed into the second configuration when the suction head 2 is moved forward on a soft floor, and to be elastically deformed into the first configuration when the suction head 2 is moved backward on a floor. The first configuration may for example correspond to a rest configuration of the rear sealing member 21.

[0066] As shown on the figure 8, the receiving housing 23 comprises a first housing part 23.1 in which a front part of the front longitudinal portion 22.1, such as a front longitudinal edge, of the fixing part 22 is received and held. In an alternative embodiment, the front part and an intermediate part of the front longitudinal portion 22.1 are held, and for example clamped, in the first housing part 23.1. Said intermediate part extends between a front end and a rear end of the front longitudinal portion 22.1. Advantageously, the first housing part 23.1 forms a fixing groove which is substantially rectilinear and which has a height slightly less than the thickness of the front longitudinal portion 22.1. The fixing part 22 is more particularly configured to be elastically deformed at the level of the front longitudinal portion 22.1 during elastic deformation of the rear sealing member 21 between the first and second configurations. More specifically, the fixing part 22 is configured to be elastically deformed at a part of the front longitudinal portion 22.1 which is not held in the first housing part 23.1. Advantageously, the front longitudinal portion 22.1 projects from a front face of the rear sealing strip 24.

[0067] The receiving housing 23 further comprises a second housing part 23.2 in which a rear portion 22.2 is movably mounted, and for example a rear longitudinal portion, such as a rear longitudinal edge, of the fixing part 22. Advantageously, the first housing part 23.1 opens into a lower part of the second housing part 23.2, and the rear portion 22.2 projects from a rear face of the rear sealing strip 24.

[0068] The second housing part 23.2 more specifically delimits a vertical clearance 28 (see the figure 8 ) which is located above the rear portion 22.2 when the rear sealing member 21 occupies the first configuration and which is configured to allow lifting of the rear portion 22.2 during elastic deformation of the rear sealing member 21 towards the second configuration.

[0069] As shown on the figure 8, the sole 5 comprises a passage slot 29 through which the rear sealing strip 24 extends. The passage slot 29 opens more particularly on the one hand into the receiving housing 23, and more particularly into the second housing part 23.2, and on the other hand into the rear recess 27 and more particularly into a rear lower surface 31 which is provided on the lower face 6 of the sole 5 and which partly delimits the rear recess 27. Advantageously, the rear lower surface 31 is configured to extend substantially horizontally when the suction head 2 rests on a horizontal surface and to be located at a separation distance from said horizontal surface which is between 2 and 6 times the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip 24.

[0070] The passage slot 29 comprises a rear abutment wall 29.1 against which the rear sealing strip 24 is configured to abut when the rear sealing member 21 occupies the second configuration, and a front abutment wall 29.2 against which the rear sealing strip 24 is configured to abut when the rear sealing member 21 occupies the first configuration. Advantageously, the front and rear abutment walls are parallel to each other, and extend vertically when the suction head 2 rests on a horizontal surface.

[0071] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the passage slot 29 has a width which is greater than the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip 24, and which is for example 1.3 to 3 times greater than the maximum thickness of the rear sealing strip 24.

[0072] As shown on the figure 8, the receiving housing 23 comprises a bottom wall 32 into which the passage slot 29 opens. The rear portion 22.2 of the fixing part 22 is more particularly configured to rest on the bottom wall 32 when the rear sealing member 21 occupies the first configuration.

[0073] According to the embodiment shown in the figures, the main body 4 comprises a stop member 33, such as a stop rib, provided in the second housing part 23.2 and against which the rear portion 22.2 of the fixing part 22 is intended to come into abutment when the rear sealing member 21 occupies the second configuration. The presence of such a stop member 33 limits the elastic deformation of the front longitudinal portion 22.1 of the fixing part 22 during an elastic deformation of the rear sealing member 21 towards the second configuration, and therefore limits the risks of breakage of the fixing part 22 and the risks of the front longitudinal portion 22.1 coming out of the first housing part 23.1.

[0074] Of course, the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and illustrated, which has been given only as an example. Modifications remain possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
